Anybody notice any signs of an early and fierce winter coming?
My Maine coon kitty has a thick thick coat right now and I’ve seen a solid black woolly worm.
Anybody else?
My Nutall's are dropping tons of immature nuts.Acorns have started dropping, N. VA. Just saw them this morning.
Amen.Leaves starting to drop. The most distressing thing is the days getting shorter. I love the longer days.
Last night the weather service had a large section of North Dakota under a frost warning.
Any members live there?
I'm in central Iowa and I can tell you it got a might bit chilly here last night! Tonight's low will be 47.
I'm sure this is not normal for this time of year.
We went to 32F last night. Southern Mountains of Colorado.
Thursday the high here was 97. Last night the low was 38. I haven't been out yet (massive headache probably due to the weather change), but I'll see how my garden did.
The oak tree in my back yard here in Norcal is starting to drop acorns...and they are huge. I seem to remember an old wives tale about the coming winter and the size of acorns but I can't for the life of me recall what large versus small acorns meant. I really hope it is a sign of a wet winter. We need every drop of water we can get. Fingers crossed
