Someone has just redefined "Summit"
Saw this headline this morning:

Ukraine Calls For Massive Demilitarized Zone Within Russia As Stipulation For Talks

I noted two things:

1) they are making peace talks overtures
2) their demands are outrageous, so much so, NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN

Presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak called for a 100-120 kilometer demilitarized zone within Russia. “It will be necessary to introduce a demilitarization zone of 100-120 km on the territory of Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, and Rostov republics. Probably with a mandatory international control contingent at the first stage,” he tweeted on Monday.

Also note NOT the annexed countries.

And this is hilarious:

Kiev is seeking to take control over Moscow’s nuclear and missile programs as well. “Reduction of offensive weapons (missiles with extended range). International conference to organize control over the nuclear arsenal of the [Russian Federation],” Podolyak said in a separate tweet.

Podolyak has made other demands of Moscow on the social network during recent days. On Saturday, he stated that the war can only end when the Russian government of Vladimir Putin was removed from power.

The adviser added that “there is nothing to talk about with” the current administration in the Kremlin and Putin should be extradited for war crimes.

So progress, right?

Ultra MAGA!
Mexican TV reports that dozens of U.S. AT-4 weapons systems, which were originally shipped to Ukraine, have been purchased by Cartel Golfo in Mexico.
I seem to remember the cartels had these years ago and they were coming into Mexico through Venezuala at that time. It's nothing new if I'm remembering correctly.

I saw this out there over the weekend and may explain the beginning of the battles on the russian side. No reason for russia to negotiate when they have the upper hand in occupation, and of course they have to demand way too much so they can scale it it back in the bargaining.

Are you sure about that?

IMHO I think when this is all over there will be a DMZ, but it won't be in Russia. Think it will be in Ukraine, possibly around the Dnieper River, back east some 100 K. And Ukraine will be the one shedding their arms with a new leader.

Not that I support what Russia is doing, but rather think that is closer to reality.

Some people think getting a degree in Aromatherapy will garner them millions of dollars a year with a loan forgiveness. But reality may slap them in the face too.

But like the first thing I said IMHO.

His free speech rights only apply to him while he is in the US while he is in Ukraine he is a foreigner the country is under martial law and at war for it's very survival so none of this applies
Oreally is actually correct about this one. Most countries in the world do not have inherent granted-by-God-and-not government rights of free speech. But NO country in which martial law has been declared - US or not - has it in that situation.

Well as for the US support of the right of free speech & limits to - what war was the US in that they demanded the arrest and extradition Wikileaks founder Julian Assange ?

With all the loose talk from Ukraine and the West about the upcoming (or underway) counter offensive, it is natural for some observers to conclude that Russia is sitting back waiting to see what unfolds. That is wrong.

Putin Strikes Back - Destroys GUR Bunker?

For the first time, Putin himself nonchalantly confirmed that Ukraine’s intelligence headquarters were hit:

Biden tells Air Force graduates he applied to the Naval Academy after graduating high school.

Last year, he told Naval Academy graduates he was "appointed to the [Naval] Academy in 1965."

There is no record of either of those things ever happening.

BUT he does have the nuclear codes. So he basically out does everyone whether they went to the Academy or not.

Imagine not remembering where you went to school, but have the launch codes.

You don’t really believe that the Russians only killed three civilians in this war, do you?
Of course not... Nor was the story claiming so.

However, if apartment blocks, wedding parties and aspirin factories in Kiev were getting struck left and right, there are plenty of media outlets in the West that would be more than willing to report it.

So, I do stand by my statement about Russian intelligence, accuracy and intent as regards civilian collateral damage.

1) in war there will always be civilian causalities. Sad fact.
2) those causalities may have been caused by missiles being shot down and hitting those buildings. One landed in Poland remember. Saw a vid. where one landed in a busy highway.
3) the media only report civilian causalities, not military. Most are children, or so reported.
4) it's always Russia's fault. Granted I get that if Russia wasn't launching missiles into Ukraine, then Ukraine wouldn't have to shoot them down, and those ricochets wouldn't be hitting apt. buildings. But it's more in the way of Russia's fault as in Trump's fault. Meaning no responsibility accepted by Ukraine (demoncrats) for anything. (2008-2024)
5) a missile can't land anywhere in Ukraine without hitting a kid. They're everywhere. Which is just odd.
6) the more Ukraine plays up the death of children, remember the maternity hospital (?) the less people feel for the children, and bad eyebrows towards the media (propaganda).

But hey Ukraine has them to waste, so don't even think of peace.

Civilian deaths are always a tragedy. They are also to some degree unavoidable.

The fact that this (3) was the highest civilian death toll in any strike to date speaks volumes about Russian intelligence, accuracy and intent.
If Russia wanted to target civilians - the count would be in the Thousands - these death were as likely from Ukrainian AA rockets or destroyed Russian ones.

Strikes are getting deeper into Russia and Kyiv getting smacked back right now.
