I have zero tolerance for being unfaithful, especially since they ruined someone else's life in the process. Charles married Diana while madly in love with Camilla..that is just sorry.
Marrying for strategy instead of love is part of life when you're a royal. Like marrying daughters and sons to build alliances. It's part of duty, like serving in the military. Being unfaithful is not part of the requirement, just what happens when weak people fail.

Marrying for strategy isn't working that well for them in this day and age...he ended up with Camilla anyway and all those rules were mysteriously overlooked after a while. Diana died in a suspicious accident that she predicted.

William and Kate dated for several years before they were married and he married her even though her family was not the ideal. I hope they still love each other but they both have looked stress ever since the queen died, kind of like deer in the headlights. I predict the whole royal structure will go down like a house of cards as more of their corruption surfaces...it may take a few years. I hate it because William always seemed like he was trying to do the right thing. He should been crowned instead of Charles. I hope they don't corrupt him too.

Sad news! I wasn't expecting that. She looks thinner than ever and the strain shows on her face, but she did radiate the same calm and reserve one used to expect from the Queen. So, the chemo is preventative? Is that SOP these days, even if the surgery probably removed all the cancer?
In the fwiw cat.

I have a little exp with female family member.

Surgery to remove and chemo ‘in case’ either the surgery didn’t remove or the surgery released some of the cancer.

So yes chemo can be preventative in my humble non Dr opinion.

And chemo will knock you down because its basically controlled poison.

I have all the sympathy in the world for Kate and what she is going through but why drag it out like they have. They've fueled all the gossip mills and caused a ton of speculation and I'm betting we still don't know half of the whole true story. It sounds like the apple may not fall far from the tree.

First, NO amount of information will satisfy or shut up the boxed beverage brigade- they'll continue to rag on her, and spin their insane through the looking glass speculations regardless of what she does or does not say... some with deliberate malice and intentional disregard for decorum or human decency, and fully aware of the trauma to which their drama contributes.

And, as I stated earlier, most if not all of the mothers of still young children with whom I'm familiar who faced a terminal or even serious illness, had one concern: sheltering the children and preparing them as best as possible to navigate the difficult roads that laid ahead of them.

I'm not seeing Kate dragged except for that picture and most people are blaming William...there's been a ton of sympathy and extreme worry for her, even before this announcement. It's the old guard that most are disgusted with. The jury is still out on William as far as the general public is concerned. What he does in the coming months will make or break him as far as public opinion goes. Hopefully, now that they have satisfied everyone's curiosity, things will settle down. In light of the horrific assumptions being made, it would have been better for everyone, even the children, to make this common knowledge before it got to this point without all the extreme and often scary speculation.

Meanwhile, Kate's parents have gotten themselves into a disastrous financial situation and that has really fueled the gossip mills. It's all been the perfect storm for ugly speculation that I'll not get into.

Uhhh. Not to take away from Kate's unfortunate predicament, but what happened to her parents?
Their long time business has failed and they are in serious financial trouble. If memory serves, it was some type of retail business they had owned for years, maybe decades...gift or home decor I think. The current economy was mentioned as a problem. It's been a few days since I read it but it was insinuated they weren't great managers, etc. The article was speculating on why the royals hadn't bailed them out, if for no other reason than to hide the scandal.

Thanks squid. There was no mention of chemo after my MIL's lung surgery; both she and hubby had cancer. Things change.

Kate’s parents owned a business called “Party Pieces” it was similar to Party City here in the States. Her mother started it when he children were small and she ran it out of their kitchen. They sold it a few years ago and when sold the business had big debts. l’m not certain of the details other than it got into trouble during the Covid lockdowns. Which makes sense.

Kate and William are both being dragged all over X. It’s brutal and cruel. Mostly by Harry & Meghan supporters. Royal watching has become as tribal as politics and just as ugly.

They made the announcement yesterday because that is when their children’s Easter break began. They don‘t return to school until the middle of April. This way they can protect them from the worst of the blowback & speculation from the announcement.

I don't do x...just reliable news sources. It's always been this way with the royals...a tough skin must come with the territory and up til now William and Kate, for the most part, have been the darlings of the royal family and for good reason. If he expects to be king, sooner than later, they will have to develope a tough skin. It is not for the faint of heart but they are groomed from birth to live that way.

This would be a tough situation for anyone, in any circumstances. (Dozdoats comes to mind.)

But, I think William is probably doing just fine - albeit with some challenging moments. He has a LOT of support from all the palace people, his Aunt, and cousins.

Kate was not groomed to live that way from birth. Her grandmother was a working-class hairdresser, and her cousin still drives a van. As I've said before, the new trend for royal men to marry commoners (and in the case of one of the Scandinavian Crown Princesses, a royal woman doing so) has good and some problematic aspects.

It is good because it brings in new "blood" and some fresh ideas, and often, these exceptional people bring a "breath of fresh air" to the whole monarchy thing. But these (and most are ladies) are not raised from birth to expect certain things. Most don't react as severely as Meghan Merkle, but they have problems.

The Princess (basically queen, but it is a principality) of Monoco has tried to "flee" to South Africa several times and agreed to stay when paid her salary. The new young Queen Consort in Denmark would likely divorce her royal spouse (she met him in a bar in Australia, having no idea who he was) after he was seen with his mistress and photographed. The older Queen Regnent offered to step down and let her be Queen Consort if she would stay around. She knew her daughter-in-law was much more popular with the Danish people than her son.

Usually, the marriage killer for these women is finding out that "Royal" men are expected to take mistresses. That goes back to when very few royal marriages were made for love, and even those that were like Victoria and Albert were semi-arranged. Princesses and Queens (regnant and consort) were raised to expect it and never comment on it; it was just part of the job.

Younger, bright, often highly educated women from the Middle or Upper-Middle Classes are not raised that way. So when hubby gets caught out, as they almost always do nowadays, things get a bit wonky.

Now, Diana should have known better; she was from that "Stable" class of young ladies raised to marry the aristocracy and be one herself. She not only didn't do what was expected of her, looking away at Charles and Camilla (rightly or wrongly), but she also didn't know the "rules" for taking her lovers after providing an heir and a spare. But then those rules were falling apart too, in the age of photographers and tapped phones. Today, the internet makes hiding affairs extremely difficult, even when they, as they used to say, are "discrete."

Victoria could disappear from public life for ten years and spend that time with her almost certainly second (and secret) marriage to her Scotsman. Nothing like that could happen today without word getting out sooner or later.

William and Kate were college sweethearts and dated for years so she had a clue but she was not groomed from birth for the position and he knows that. I don't think she will tolerate the mistress situation quite so well since theirs was a love match unlike some of the others.

That adultery thing is not working so well for the royals...lots of bad karma among the whole crew. Charles and Camilla's lack of discretion kind of ruined it for the rest of them.

#1) The "Helmsman" series (well done but poorly hidden relationship with the Brit Crown) gives a VERY GOOD understanding of the issues with marriage and (consort) folks.

#2) As commented above, moms with kids the ages of Kate & Wills, tend to be SERIOUS 'MOMMA BEARs' and do NOT get in the way.

As Princess of Wales reveals diagnosis, doctors warn of mysterious cancer ‘epidemic’

Leading doctors have warned of a mysterious new “epidemic” of abdominal cancers in younger people.

Following the Princess of Wales’s announcement of her diagnosis on Friday, specialist clinicians have said that in recent years they have seen a significant increase in under-45s presenting with cancers typically seen in older patients.

Many are fit and outwardly healthy, prompting a scramble among scientists to establish what is causing the trend.

One study that looked at data from Northern Ireland between 1993 and 2019 found the rate of early-onset cancers increased by 20.5 per cent, the equivalent of about 7,000 extra cases a year across the UK.

These cancers include those that come under the umbrella term “abdominal”.

The Princess has not revealed what type of cancer she is receiving treatment for. However, her statement on Friday said it was discovered following abdominal surgery in January.

‘They’re not thinking about cancer’

Prof Andrew Beggs, a consultant colorectal surgeon and a senior clinical fellow at the University of Birmingham, runs a clinic for cancer patients under the age of 45.

“When I started as a cancer surgeon 20 years ago, you rarely saw any younger patients, but now I see them regularly,” he said.

“When they turn up they are shocked, because often they haven’t had any symptoms and because of their age they are not thinking about cancer.”

“It’s a huge thing to get your head round at that age and of course many have young children,” he added. “My thoughts are with Kate and her family. It must have hit them like a bus.”

There is significant confusion among researchers as to what might be causing the trend, although most agree it is unlikely to be down to a single factor. Some scientists believe the cause may be partly genetic.

Roughly one in a hundred people carry the BRCA gene – made famous by Angelina Jolie – which causes breast and ovarian cancers, while roughly one in 350 are affected by Lynch syndrome, a hereditary cause of bowel, womb, ovary and pancreatic cancers.

An increase in survival rates among people with these genes means, at a population level, the likelihood of having them is going up.

Researchers are also beginning to turn their sights on possible changes to the microbiome to explain the trend.

The composition of gut bacteria – as a result of dietary or other environmental factors – can influence inflammation levels, which in turn may increase the risk of cancer.

However, despite growing theoretical enthusiasm, scientists are hindered by the difficulty in conducting the necessary long-term cause-and-effect studies needed to draw a link between what people eat and their risk of the disease.

Greater awareness of cancer

A greater general awareness of cancer and desire to get symptoms checked out is likely to play a part in the rise of documented cases.

Dr Shivan Sivakumar, associate professor in oncology at the University of Birmingham, agreed with Prof Beggs: “There is an epidemic currently of young people getting cancer (under 50s).

“It is unknown the cause of this, but we are seeing more patients getting abdominal cancers.”

Models based on global data predict that the number of early-onset cancer cases will increase by around 30 per cent between 2019 and 2030, a markedly faster increase than the previous 30 years.

Cancer Research UK is among prominent research funding-bodies across the world supporting programmes to better understand early-onset cancer.

Michelle Mitchell, its chief executive, said: “High profile cancer cases often act as a prompt to encourage people to find out more or think about their own health.

“If people spot something that’s not normal for them or isn’t going away, they should check with their GP.

“It probably won’t be cancer. But if it is, spotting it at an early stage means treatment is more likely to be successful.”

The younger people getting cancer could be /is from the clot shot. Scientists are "scrambling" to find the cause. It's all so mysterious to these researchers. What a joke of an article from The Telegraph, and what an insult to our intelligence. We are not as blind as these so called experts.

Well, except the increase they are seeing was from 1993 to 2019... ending *right before* the poison vax was introduced.

I suspect their estimates for the next 5 years are woefully low...

Environmental factors (PCBs)? or nutrition (or lack thereof) related? Hard to tell. Late hubby's mom's family ALL died of cancer of one sort or another. Yet in my family history (afaik) there isn't even ONE death from it. Which sounds statistically off, doesn't it? But maybe it's something genetic, I sure don't know.

Yes, the dates of this study rule out the shot, but they do mention inflammation/diet as possibly increasing the expression of genes that predispose people to cancer. The diets of young people are getting exponentially worse. Of course the shot is causing problems that need to be studied; possibly one of its effects is also the increase of gene expression. But other obvious factors haven't just magically disappeared. No doubt cancer would be increasing even without the shot as our society degrades. And COVID itself could turn out to be another cause, we just don't know yet.

I know I’m getting way off topic here, and this doesn’t necessarily apply in Kate’s case, but there is a huge difference in what is allowed in food in the EU/UK and here in the US. I know plenty of people that cannot tolerate gluten here in the States but eat bread and pasta in the EU/UK with no ill effects. It’s our food that is causing the inflammation and killing us. Especially here in the US.

You are so right! Every single time we return to the states from Europe, the first few meals make us sick, our food here is horrible!

Well, remember that Chuck has a 7 year expiry date on HIS reign...
actually his expiry date may be a lot sooner, according to this article I posted on the King Charles thread
..y'all who followed covid and the break out truth tellers may recognize the dr. who's reporting here that he is confident in this post/article....

@RWMaloneMD

As Yahoo is writing it in an article - as an "open rumor" - but goes on to write that their are multiple sources close to the King who have confirmed the diagnosis. I felt confident in posting this here as a reality.

King Charles Given 2 Years to Live as He Battles Pancreatic Cancer: His Diagnosis Is an ‘Open Secret’

Less than two months after Buckingham Palace confirmed King Charles III was diagnosed with cancer, sources exclusively reveal to In Touch that the king is battling pancreatic cancer and has been given two years to live.
While the royal family has kept tight-lipped about the specifics of Charles’ illness, including the type of cancer he has, a source exclusively confirms to In Touch that the king’s diagnosis is known to be an open secret among royal staffers.
“Many courtiers believe Charles’ cancer is worse than they’re making it out to be,” a second insider adds. “Even before the diagnosis, there were concerns about his health."

Buckingham Palace confirmed on February 5 that Charles, 75, had been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer. He received his diagnosis after having surgery for a benign enlarged prostate on January 26.
“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” the palace’s statement said. “Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”
The monarch has since attended a few public engagements. “Charles is keeping up with some appearances, not only to squash the wild conspiracy theories and false reports of his death, but to ensure people that he’s still able to perform his duties as king,” the second source says, adding that Charles is “following doctors’ orders and willing to try any treatment to extend his life by a few years, at least.”
Charles became king after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September 2022. He formally accepted the royal title at his coronation in May 2023. “It’s a tragedy that Charles won’t be able to follow in his mother’s footsteps of leaving a lasting legacy,” the first insider admits.
king charles given 2 years to live with pancreatic cancer

Amid the king’s cancer battle, his wife, Queen Camilla, his sister, Princess Anne, and his eldest son, Prince William, have stepped in to attend engagements that he’s had to miss. “His aides can tell that Charles still worries about his legacy,” the second insider shares, adding that the head royal “tends to worry himself” with thoughts about whether William, 41, who’s next in line for the throne, is ready to take his place as king.
Meanwhile, the family is remaining optimistic about Charles’ condition in front of the public. “He’s doing very well,” Camilla, 76, said during a visit to Northern Ireland on Thursday, March 21. “He was very disappointed he couldn’t come.”
The palace has not given a formal update about Charles’ health in weeks, but did shut down reports that he had died on Monday, March 18. “We are happy to confirm that The King is continuing with official private business,” Buckingham Palace’s statement said.

FWIW, a coworker was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and due to a series of medical blunders, the removal was delayed and it ruptured prior to removal.

She had "preventive" chemo, which didn't work. Even though her "cancer number" dropped, during chemo, a new tumor, same type, formed on her liver.

She is now undergoing a 2 year trial at Dana Farber in Boston.

They are still personally very wealthy. Their party supplies business, Party Pieces, went belly up mostly due to Covid but it was set up as the equivalent of a US LLC. Prior to Covid it was worth $US 40 million and went into administration in 2023 with appx 3 million USD in debt. They still had a personal net worth of 20+ million USD after the business failed. I think they'd have been better off to have paid a few million out of their personal fortune to settle the business's debts and prevent this misunderstanding and all the negative press they got instead of letting it go into administration.
