Sad news! I wasn't expecting that. She looks thinner than ever and the strain shows on her face, but she did radiate the same calm and reserve one used to expect from the Queen. So, the chemo is preventative? Is that SOP these days, even if the surgery probably removed all the cancer?

I'm concerned about how advanced it may be. Chemo isn't generally used "just in case" an obviously localized cancer has spread. And her "abdominal surgery" seems much more serious than a simple hysterectomy, given the recovery time that she's needed.

Also, she doesn't look at all well in her latest pic... extremely thin (even though she's naturally very fine boned and slender, she looks positively skinny, under the rather bulky clothes she's likely wearing to try to hide it), very pale, and with some disturbing fullness to her face.

She'll be in my prayers.. regardless of how useful I think the Royals are, she has a young family, and is going through a devastating time.

On NBC news this afternoon, by a cancer specialist, they said it's preventative in case any microscopic cells of cancer were left behind.

They took the vaxx publicly. Now BOOM two have cancer. What a coincidence.
it may indeed be coincidence, it's above our paygrade to know for certain.

What we do know is that studies are coming out admitting the existence of "turbo cancers" and drawing convincing links...
which is the crux of what I find most alarming; in general, given the excellent medical care she receives, I'd have expectation that it was caught very early and would be easily managed.

Not SOP for my oncologist. But maybe for in the UK. My GP has already earmarked my file to have once yearly CT and ultrasound to watch for cancer and the aortic aneurysm that disappeared. Insurance will likely only approve the CT but that should be okay. (Note: my oncologist asked and is aware that I did not take the COVID vaccine. If that is part of the decision making factors for them.)

I wish she had said something about it earlier and avoided all of the speculation and nonsense. As someone who had to make a similar medical declaration at the former company that I worked for,the lack of privacy stinks. But once it was out it was a huge relief. The nasty rumors stopped and I got some support. ( I had been recently diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and dropped to 96 lbs…a big rumor started that I had AIDS.) I cried when I found that out. I thought it was cruel.

It is. Cruel. And a heck of a lot of people ought to be ashamed of themselves, but within a few hours, let alone days, the same will be dogging them again, and making up stuff to gossip about again.

Part of the issue is that the public pays the royals for public appearances. Unfortuanately that means all the tabloids do nothing but that, gossip.

Let us hope that things change to a state where the royals maybe have some more privacy will giving up some things...

The public doesn't pay for them, they make G.B. tons of money being the biggest tourist draw there.

4 months is not a long recovery time for a hysterectomy. If the location of the tumor made it so she wasnt a candidate for robotic surgery, the recovery time is at least 6 weeks. With the kind of service she does, that means long hours on her feet, travel, and draining days in public view with a smile when she might be in pain. Even without the cancer, they wanted to give her enough time to rest.

It took me a good year to be back to myself again. But I had complications following surgery and was in the hospital for two weeks. So who knows what her situation was post surgery.

I am sorry for anyone's pain and suffering. But really, I just can't get into caring about a bunch of snobbish royals that we fought a war to get away from. With everything going on in the world today, I say, "God bless, good luck, hope you get better soon." Next...

And remember for William this could be at PTSD moment for him since his mom died around the same age as Kate is now.
I hope he has a strong support system around him. His past trauma of losing his mother coupled with both his wife and father being diagnosed with cancer at the same time is a lot to bear. He has to be fearful for Catherine & Charles and worried about his children too.

All the money in the world can’t buy peace of mind.

The Prime Minister does not usually receive former leaders when they visit. In fact, in Great Britain it would be the role of the King as Head of State to receive dignitaries. It was out of the ordinary for Sunak to meet with Obama at Downing Street.

Goes to the question of who is actually running things at the White House behind the curtain?......

anecdotal stories are near worthless, but my experience w/ momma bears facing potentially terminal events is that they have only one concern in such circumstances, which is protecting and shepherding their precious children through the malestorm.

Well, now that everyone knows... maybe Kate can focus on her treatment & kids and recover in another month or so. We can at least send her good thoughts and spiritual chicken soup! Poor kiddo, she HAD to make that tape and come clean to buy herself enough time to get well.

Well I did say yesterday that she had no choice but to make an appearance to prove that she wasn't dead!

Odd..........

I don't remember us fighting a war against William and Kate.

Nor do I remember them ever acting "snobbish" (like Charles does).

(this is unworthy of you, Toosh)

I think you've put your finger on why Kate--out of a selfless expanse of plain old-fashioned good breeding---

kept her own troubles quiet when the KING'S (and her HUSBAND's father) had JUST been announced as having cancer.

They have Sophie, sorry forgot her official title, and there is Anne, Princess Royale. Also, the daughters of Andrew might be willing to step in here and there. But their Mom is also suffering from cancer so I don't know.
Prince Edward has daughters maybe they could step up also.

I feel similarly Toosh. I do feel bad for her since she has young children. It is sad. I dont want anyone to go through this. However, she will receive the best possible care, complete with servants and likely round the clock nursing. So many other women in similar situations don't make the news, have few resources and support. While i have empathy for her and her family, I have more empathy for those with fewer resources. There is a seemingly endless supply of tragedies in the world today.

You are brutally honest but will not get any criticism from me..it is what it is. That family has so much to answer for, I'd be afraid to marry into it less some of that karma accidentally land on me.

I have all the sympathy in the world for Kate and what she is going through but why drag it out like they have. They've fueled all the gossip mills and caused a ton of speculation and I'm betting we still don't know half of the whole true story. It sounds like the apple may not fall far from the tree.

I probably wouldn't spit on Charles and Camilla if they were on fire. I have zero tolerance for being unfaithful, especially since they ruined someone else's life in the process. Charles married Diana while madly in love with Camilla..that is just sorry.

"turbo" cancer appears to have been designed to kill in weeks or months.
