Thanks CC for the info on Magnesium. I ordered some of the liquid mag with minerals for my husband. Hoping to alleviate some of his nighttime cramps in his legs. He's diabetic.
Put a bar of soap under your sheets, for some bizarre reason it alleviates leg cramps.
Diabetics need to eat as much raw vegetables and fruits as possible, and remove cooked grains. Raw honey is fine, as is raw milk. I have a large post on the results of a raw food diet that dropped my dad's BG from 240 to 99 in 4 days. After a week or so I incorporated grilled beef, chicken and fish into his diet with excellent results.
From what I can determine, arthritis is a hypothyroid symptom-hypoT folks do not use calcium properly, so it ends up as deposits on bones, in arteries and on joints. It can also cause calcification in saliva glands, cause tooth plaque and excrete through the skin in the form of hard, stone like pieces. I avoid all calcium supplements unless I'm on my natural dessicated thyroid medicine. I have a hunch that the DE helps the body utilize calcium, in part by furnishing the right mineral (silica) to do the job boosting thyroid hormone function.
I'd love to read about your dad's raw food diet, but can't find it using search (short of going through all of your posts manually). I tried "raw AND dad AND food" in the search string with flippper as the name and got everything by you except for a post about your dad. Do you remember the title or could you post a link? TIA!
I love this stuff, still taking it every day.
I have gone down three loops smaller on my belt, really like that.
I sure wish I could find a couple threads about black salve stuff I rember reading, if I rember wright it works on skin cancer.

My dad started having this problem, plus his fingernail beds were white. The cramping can be low vitamin D levels, as vitamin D helps the body regulate calcium. My dad's vitamin D levels had dropped from 80 to 50 recently and he began getting cramps. He's diabetic and hypothyroid. The worst thing a diabetic/hypoT can do is take calcium, it can cause heart attacks from my understanding. I suspect low vitamin D levels (which seem to be a symptom of diabetes/hypoT) are the culprit. What did my dad's doc do? He put him on calcium for the cramping! Ugh. Natural Calm without calcium is an excellent source of magnesium, and it comes in many flavors. I get mine at www.swansonvitamins.comThanks CC for the info on Magnesium. Kidney stones can be a symptom of low vitamin D (see above comment), as the calcification process that causes tooth and artery plaque, eye floaters/cataracts and arthritis, etc., is caused by the body being unable to correctly process calcium, in fact, low D levels appear to leech calcium from the bones and release it into the bloodstream. Thanks for the comments and advice. My husband has been treated for kidney stones in the last year. Another reason I bug him to drink more water. He thinks drinking coffee counts as fluids but I told him coffee is DEHYDRATING, not HYDRATING. His has mild hypertension and is on a blood pressure pill that I suspect acts as a diuretic also so it's even more important that he drink. Because of the high blood pressure I don't salt his foods or anything I prepare much. It is a fine balance for sure.
I searched out this thread tonight because after telling my neighbor about DE, she began taking it, and has lost 30 lbs! She said she takes a tablespoon a day. She has thyroid problems and some other very odd health issues, but the DE is really helping her, I wanted others to know that they may not be taking enough. I was taking a heaping teaspoon a day, but starting today began doing a tablespoon in water. OMG how I dread taking that stuff, it smells like potters clay, so I put a tablespoon of it in a quarter cup of water, hold my breath and chug it down, then take another plain water chaser.I love this stuff, still taking it every day.

Read my above comments, try taking more of the DE and see if it helps with any weight loss. It sure helps with my energy.I had a couple of floaters - red ones, one on each eye on the outer peripheral for about a year. Then I got a lot of dark ones. I starter take DE, 1/4 - 1/2 heaping spoonful each day. The dark floaters went away after a month or so. The two red ones went away after 2 or 3 months. I continue to take DE each morning, no return for past few months.
DE has not helped with weight loss.

After reading 2 double blind placebo controlled trials for using Boron on people with osteo arthritis I'm sold on this as a health supplement. Science suggests places with an average boron intake (naturally from the food) have very little arthritis. The studies also mentioned that the synovial fluid in arthritic patients had low boron and also that people with higher boron intake had stronger bones. From what I've read on the Australian guy who used boron to treat both osteo and rhemetoid arthritis he found 9mg for 1-3months was usually good to sort out pain and symptoms. Then he recommended 3mg a day just as a maintenance dose. The two clinical trials I read used 6mg. I think these are likely safe amounts considering the studies quotes around less than 1mg to over 40mg per day as average intake for boron in different parts of the world.
I waited 2 months before reviewing boron to see if it worked. My problem was at night my legs or one of my legs, probably the right leg, would keep moving in my sleep and in that movement the big toe of my right foot would scratch and cause bleeding to the outside of my left ankle. After 2 months of taking 2 capsules of Boron with 1capsule of magnesium/calcium it has stopped. It stopped about 3 weeks ago and I have not had one scratch or any bleeding since, all that is left is a few scars; I have even let the nail on the big toe of my right foot grow as another test and no scratching or damage has appeared. My wife also tells me she has not heard my feet sliding back and forth any more. I am going to continue to take Boron with magnesium to ensure the leg movement does not come back and to get some of the other health benefits.
I have now been taking three 3mg capsules of Now Foods boron daily for approximately 4 years. I had extremely severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and after taking the boron for 3 months the RA had disappeared completly, and has never returned. It is my understanding that boron only works for curing RA if it is manufactured from Calcium Borogluconate and Now Foods appears to be the only company manufacturing boron this way.
