Cream cheese is ridiculous. 8oz of the generic brand is over $2 and the Philadelphia brand is nearly $3.
OC is currently at Aldi, I called him, and he said a dozen eggs were $3.42 each. This is just north of Des Moines, IA.
I am loving my feathered family members more every time one of you posts the current price of eggs…dozen half eggs now cost 7.00 here. Simply ridiculous
My appreciation for nugget layers goes up every dayI am loving my feathered family members more every time one of you posts the current price of eggs…
On the other hand, if anybody were to post the current price of chicken layer feed (currently about $15 per 50 pound bag)… well, that is not so pleasant to think about…
But I still love my backyard collection of butt nugget layers….
Thank you very much.I am so happy you were blessed with this with this food. Have a wonderful Christmas dinner.
What a blessing! God is so good! I hope you and your wife have a wonderful Christmas! As many of you already know, I frequently utilize my local food bank’s mobile food pantry events to lessen my grocery budget. The money I do not spend at the grocery store gets sent to my wife’s cancer treatment center, so they will continue to provide her with her expensive, lifesaving treatment.
Well, today was the last one I will go to this year.
I didn’t plan a big holiday dinner. It is just the two of us, so I figured I would just fix whatever the food bank gave us.
Our food bank is good to us, for which I am grateful.
But I was not expecting what they gave us, this Monday before Christmas! Talk about an early Christmas gift!
When I got home and looked into my trunk, they had loaded it with:
TWO WHOLE, FROZEN TURKEYS
Two whole, frozen hens
6 cans of mixed fruit
6 cans of mixed vegetables
6 cans of Cream of Chicken soup
6 cans of Pasta sauce
2 bags of apples
2 small bags of very small onions
6 fresh bell peppers
2 bags of fresh, seedless grapes
2 fresh, whole pineapples
4 packages of fat free sour cream
2 huge bottles of hand sanitizer
An entire case (12 bottles) of body wash
So I guess I will be making my wife a really nice Christmas dinner. I have some canned cranberry sauce already, which will go great with the turkey. I will probably make some Stove Top stuffing to go with the turkey, and a side dish of some mixed vegetables.
Who knows - if I get really industious, I might even bake a couple of apples for our dessert...
I probably passed you in the isles...(N MN) Just got an Aldi email ad this morning - they have their Appleton Farms spiral sliced half-hams on sale for .85/lb.

I was headed in to do a Walmart pickup anyway this morning before the next hell-scape weather system hits tomorrow, so will stop and check it out. That's gonna do it before Christmas. With below zero temps, 40-50 mph winds plus 3 days of more snow - with a strong warning from the NWS and the power companies that wind and all the cement ice/snow weighing down the trees and lines is going to start another swarm of power outages.......calling it good enough and focusing on keeping the house warm and all bodies and souls neatly spliced together.
in reference to your gout comment..... have you ever heard of 'tart cherry'?Same in middle-Tennessee. I've been using it for spaghetti, Salisbury steak, tacos, chili, etc. It's good. I must limit my red meat because of gout and usually use ground pork, but using this lets me cheat a little and get the texture and browning of ground beef. Ground pork just doesn't caramelize like beef.
It's pretty good for hamburgers. But I'm used to eating ground pork burgers, so YMMV.
We are currently supplying 6 families with eggs. Yeah 6. They get them for free as they are excess and are told as long as we have enough and a surplus they can ask and we are happy to give.Agree, eggs have really gone up recently. Wife was grumbling about picking some of the eggland's best. 1 1/2 dozen was $ 6.79 at giant locally.
Yeah but it actually ( with scraps ) is a net positive for us. Despite paying $14 per bag.I am loving my feathered family members more every time one of you posts the current price of eggs…

Yep, I try to keep some concentrate on hand.in reference to your gout comment..... have you ever heard of 'tart cherry'?
McConnell: "I'm pretty proud of the fact that with a Democratic president, Democratic House, and Democratic Senate, we were able to achieve through this Omnibus spending bill essentially all of our priorities."
If I have a gout flare up I immediately take some of the "stone breaker" Chanca Piedra, twice a day , then I can usually function the next day without yelping.Yep, I try to keep some concentrate on hand.
I can generally control it by limiting red meat. I have allopurinol but can't remember to take it. Lol.
My favorite part of getting a big ham was making split pea soup.
Just checked the Aldi ad, good until 12/24...ham still $0.95/lb. Limit 2. Yippee!I just checked our new Aldi ad, starts tomorrow. Same ham, Appleton Farms, spiral sliced half-ham, is on sale for $1.99/lb.....northwest FL between Pensacola and Panama City.. I'm gonna check it out tomorrow anyway, just in case the ad is wrong! (hope, hope....)

Why was your wife in a sweaty locker room?Yeah, I've noticed the same. It's touchy to get it browned "right" without turning it into pebbles. And the texture is still some different than beef and it seems to be a lighter flavor. Grilling makes it easier to caramelize, for me anyway. But I've grown used to ground pork because I don't care for ground chicken and ground turkey smells like a sweaty locker room while cooking (my wife's words).
