Has No Life - Lives on TB
If you are going to be quarantined and wearing a mask anyway, you might as well buy a couple of gallons of primer and white semigloss paint and a couple of brushes, In 14 days you should be able to paint the baseboards, door and window trim. Heck go ahead and get that third gallon of semigloss and paint the doors too. (video games/books/scrabble my ass)
That's just mean. Being in quarantine is bad enough without having to paint baseboards, doors and trim, too. Just how much patience do you think I have anyway? :D

So there is a total of 66 confirmed cases in America and growing....

It will only continue to grow and grow and grow....

How soon will Washington state go on complete lock down????

Does anyone have any knowledge of what the airlines are doing to keep planes disinfected between flights out of known "hot spots"? Here in the Twin Cities, Delta has non stops from Japan and S. Korea arriving. The passengers and crew are "screened", but what about the planes? I remember the old days of flights to Mexico and Central America where the insecticide foggers were used with passengers in their seats. Not very fun and the smell was pretty bad. We are supposed to travel in April to Europe, but got a letter from the tour agency saying that cancellations may be possible. No kidding, Sherlock! Time will tell.
I just asked and as of this afternoon there is no change in procedures. The person I asked told me some of the attendants take wipes and clean their areas quite well but that is the extent of it.

Canned pineapple juice will do the same thing, it will surprise you how well and quickly it works!

EVERYONE SHOULD REMEMBER THAT FOR If THEY OR A LOVED ONE GETS CORONA VIRUS, pineapple juice will break up the phlem and mucos so it is easier to cough up!!
Any juice without so much sugar workable ?
Pineapple bad for diabetics.
I wonder about the connection between the diabetes and corona virus. What can a diabetic do to mitigate this ? ?

WOW! It took me the last four days, since Weds, to finally get to 538, from 460? or so. Sheesh. I have spent time every day buying up stuff and watching the surging chaos, including daily trips to assorted stores. Well, it is game over now, if you ain't prepped you are kaput. Now that the powers that be have announced a DOA IN WASHINGTON STATE AND A CONFIRMED TEACHER, who may have exposed dozens to the virus, the HORDES will be headed to the stores on Sunday for sure. Little old moi, had a very strange incident with the college, female Lacrosse team, from UC Davis, which is where the infected person, people were sent to in California. So, yeah just #$%%%%^^^

The sheeple won't be long now. :hof:

Hit all the big stores today... Costco, Sam's Club, Walmart, Kroger, Harbor Freight... just to get an idea as to how the herd is reacting in south central Kansas. I went out for toilet paper and garbage bags (since I was already prepped, but you can't have to much of the former), but the wife had different ideas as to how the shopping day was going to go.

Costco had a gentleman at the door wiping down shopping cart handles as the patrons entered... long after the patrons had already grabbed the cart and pushed it through the entry door. He utilized the same wipe to wipe down several handles all the while the patrons spent the obligatory 1-2 seconds before continuing on into the store. Last I heard, the sanitizer needed to stay on the surface for longer than 2 seconds in order to be effective. He got an A for effort though...

The store was fairly busy but only saw two to three stocking up on items that appeared to be for addressing this virus. The main items that I saw addressing this issue were Clorox, Clorox wipes, cans of Lysol, Paper Towels and Toilet paper. The rest of the patrons appeared to be doing their 'normal' weekly shopping.

Sam's Club was fairly busy as well, but I did not detect any carts that were abnormal for a regular Saturday morning. There was one man and wife. of oriental background, that was wearing latex gloves and surgical masks. Other than that, it was a normal day of people rifling through the produce without a care in the world.

Walmart & Kroger were extremely busy but there was no evidence of abnormal shopping. Abnormal shoppers YES, especially at Walmart, but normal shopping carts none the less. I did not see carts overloaded with canned goods or cleaning supplies, and thanks to my wife, we hit every aisle and then backtracked and hit about a third of the aisles we had already covered previously so I did have a decent chance to cover the shopping carts of others fairly well at both stores. Nothing out of the ordinary was noted.

Harbor Freight had a few dust masks but nothing of any benefit for viral protection. They did have a few boxes of nitrile gloves, but I couldn't really tell if the inventory they had on the shelves was normal or not for these products.

We had lunch at Abuelos during this adventure. I figured I hadn't heard a thing out of Mexico yet pertaining to this virus and figured that we were safe, at least as safe as one could be. After consuming a whole bowl of tortillas while awaiting for our food to arrive, we were then greeted by the prettiest little Chinese girl who was charged with bringing out the food once it had been prepared. Every other employee at that establishment appeared to be of all or part Mexican except for this cute little Chinese girl who brought out our food... I sh*t you not.

That was my day and why I have tried to play 'catch up' on this thread late into the evening here.

Folks, if you find hand sanitizer at any of the stores you go to, better stock up now.
Every store i went to here in Southern CA (Pasadena area) is completely out of hand sanitizer and hand sanitizer wipes, clorox wipes, hand soap is also flying off the shelf. And soup! The soup shelves were all barren!

We stocked up on TP and got some childrens fever reducers and vicks vapo rub.
Otherwise we’re good for a few months with our regular Earthquake preps.

But hand sanitizer... I’ll be on the hunt for it again tomorrow. I only have a couple little bottles and sprays.

Mexican Border State Governor Announces 4th Coronavirus Case

A Mexican border state governor announced a new case of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) that has been confirmed in state of Coahuila. The case is the fourth of its kind in Mexico involving people who traveled to Italy. It appears to be unrelated to three other cases previously revealed by Mexico’s Health Secretariat.

“They have just confirmed to us a case in Torreon, already certified the by national health system by the federal government,” said Coahuila’s Governor Miguel Angel Riquelme during an impromptu news conference. “It is a woman, 20-years-old who had been in Europe in January and February. She visited Milan (Italy) and returned on February 25, two days later she began to show symptoms.”

According to Riquelme, the woman traveled with two other individuals who state authorities are trying to track down to carry out tests. The female patient initially went to a private clinic but her care has since been turned over to Mexico’s national health system who is overseeing the response to the Covid-19. She remains in isolation and is undergoing medical treatment, Riquelme said. While the state of Coahuila borders with Texas, the city of Torreon is in the state’s deep southern part bordering with Durango. Coahuila is located across the border from Eagle Pass, Texas.

The confirmation of the fourth case comes just hours after federal health officials in Mexico confirmed the third case on Friday evening, Breitbart Texas reported. The first three cases had been from a group of men who had attended a business conference in Bergamo, Italy. The three cases from that conference have also been placed in isolation while they undergo treatment. Since January, Mexico has had 37 other suspicious cases including two in border states that have since been ruled out.

We knew this, out of prep time.

.

"This strongly suggests that there has been cryptic transmission in Washington State for the past 6 weeks. I believe we're facing an already substantial outbreak in Washington State that was not detected until now due to narrow case definition requiring direct travel to China. "

WAAAAY out of prep time. If their observation is correct, there is a very high probability that this has been out and about in the wild and growing exponentially for more than 6 weeks. (If the first patient self isolated then.)

I have a strong suspicion that the CA cases have been wild for a similar period of time. I CANNOT believe that there are so few cases in the San Francisco Bay Area given the large percentage of ethnic Chinese, Chinese students and temp computer migrants in the Silicon Valley. It has to be a teeming pool of virus.

Thanks, Marsh. That gave a LOT more clarity to the situation. No, the man who died was not from the nursing home. The two sick women are: One a worker, and one a patient. And does anyone wonder like I am, who the Fed Health person was that gave Trump the faulty information? Were her initials N.M.? Did she channel that info through others to Trump?

And if so, then...............you bitch! (NM, that is)

Update (2200ET):
Public health officials in Illinois said Saturday night that they had a new "presumptive case" , what would be the state's third case of coronavirus since the outbreak began. If confirmed by the CDC, the case would increase the total in the US to 24 (aside from the evacuees, who are all in quarantine right now).
CHICAGO: Cook County, State Health Officials Confirm Coronavirus Case Coronavirus Case Confirmed in Suburban Cook County
— Quoth the Raven (@QTRResearch) March 1, 2020
The case was confirmed in Cook County, the second-largest county in the US, which includes the city of Chicago, where about half of its residents live. All three of the state's cases now will have been confirmed in Cook County, with the prior two cases being a husband and wife who had recently traveled to Wuhan. It's unclear whether this is another case of 'unknown transmission'.

The positive test results must still be confirmed in a CDC lab in Atlanta. Until then, the patient is being hospitalized in isolation and CDC protocols are being implemented, according to NBC News.

Yesterday, Illinois Gov. Jay Pritzker requested that hospitals across the state implement additional testing to improve surveillance for coronavirus.

Country mouse, if there was no antidote for acetaminophen, my youngest daughter would be dead. Absolutely necessary in case of an overdose (acetaminophen is very bad stuff if you overdose). But I don’t know if that is what Rondaben had in mind with that comment.

Kathleen

Kathleen---I didn't mean why an "antidote" would be necessary---if someone was (purposely or by-accident) over-dosed on it.

I am talking about---well, if you're sick with coronavirus---why would you in any situation take more than is recommended on the bottle to take, and thus NEED an 'antidote"? Or does something about the coronavirus make the damage from acetaminophen worse or something?

In the end when this is all sorted out, I am still saying we are going to end up with the medical version of the Nurenberg War Crimes Tribunals, say the Virus Tribunals, where all the fools who lied and covered things up will stand trial for negligent manslaughter, the making of aggressive war, China and Wuhan 4 bio weapons lab releasing a weapon of war, and the resulting chaos, economic decline and corpses everywhere. Junior Emperor Xi for sure will likely be taken out by his PLA Colonels and shot in the back of the head. People think things will return to normal, or the NWO will take over, but I say the popular rage will not be able to be controlled, and people like Bill Gates who is a party to viruscide will stand trial right next to Junior Emperor Xi.

Now that with Pope Francis having this virus ... all I can think also is WOW!

Honey badger virus don’t care. You can be a pope, an Iranian health care minister or a President and if your careless honey badger gonna come for you. I believe Psalm 91 and God’s protection but you don’t put that to the test and do something dumb and presume your protected. The big meetings, church service, political rally’s all need to be suspended until this first wave dies out.

Honey badger don’t care!

That doesn't make sense to me. If it doesn't help protect the general public, how does it help healthcare workers??
Healthcare workers actually know how to use them.

I watched a guy exit the store today wearing a mask. He made it 1/2 way out into the parking lot, grabbed the filtering section of the mask, with bare fingers, and pulled it down under his chin. He then: grabbed his keys out of his pocket, unlocked his car, loaded some grocery bags, then paused to open a water bottle and take a couple of drinks, then finished loading the remainder of his groceries... The mask did nothing for him except increase the density of virus he exposed himself to.

It's Time To Stop Pretending That In All Of Africa There's Only 3 Covid-19 Cases

Sat, 02/29/2020 - 09:33

Update: Fears that the coronavirus outbreak will be officially declared a global pandemic have grown after the first case was confirmed in sub-Saharan Africa. Nigeria’s health ministry said the case was found in Lagos, one of Africa’s biggest cities, with a population of 20 million people.

Africa has recorded only two cases up to now, one in Algeria and one in Egypt.

The spread of contagion to countries with poor public health systems has alarmed the World Health Organization, which said it could “get out of control”.
* * *
Via Golem XIV's blog,
Surely it is time to stop pretending that in all of Africa there are only three cases of Coronavirus (1 in each of Algeria, Egypt, and Nigeria)? Everything we now know about the virus makes this virtually impossible to believe.

We know that despite alarm being expressed by other African nations, Ethiopia has continued to keep open its air link to China via Bole International airport. The Ethiopian authorities have justified their decision by quoting the WHO president’s ‘expert advice’ that travel bans were not going to stop the virus and therefore were not recommended. As reported by Global Research,
… he made the inexplicable statement that other countries were not warranted to ban air travel to China as precaution. He declared,” It’s not a time for judgment… This is a time for solidarity, not stigma,” refusing to recommend any international restrictions on travel or trade with China.
This seems very odd and ill-advised ‘expert advice’ when at the same time the official line is that while we may not be able to stop the spread of the virus we should strive to slow it down to give us as much time as possible to look for treatments and a vaccine.

What else do we know? Well we can see from recent events in Italy that the virus spreads very fast before anyone is likely to show any symptoms. We also know how easy it is for over-worked doctors to not pay enough attention to symptoms which on their own are not all that serious to begin with and could be the result of the common cold or ordinary strains of flu. The Corona virus does not present with the kind of dramatic symptoms that make it easy to spot.

We also know that the two things about this virus which makes it very dangerous and almost impossible to stop. The first is the very long, unusually long, suspiciously long latency period when someone can carry the virus and be highly infectious without showing any symptoms at all. The second is that Covid19 is easily transmitted and very highly infectious.

Despite having all the advantages of wealth and warning none of the best prepared, best off countries have been able to stop its spread. Is it believable that the Coronavirus is not already spreading in African countries?
If Coronavirus is spreading in Africa then everyday we hear no reports of it, is another day it is spreading unreported and untreated. Is this alarmist? I certainly hope so but common sense tells me its just tragically very likely.

The latency period before someone shows symptoms means that it is quite possible for someone to be carrying the virus but show no signs whatever when they arrive at the airport and are screened. If they did have the virus then given its infectivity it is highly probable that other passengers being in close contact in a sealed environment like a jet for many hours are going to be infected. None of them will show any symptoms when screened. How many of them will travel on to other airports, other cities other towns where there are fewer if any facilities for testing?

Could this scenario happen? Well we already have the case of a Chinese worker to flew into Kenya, who was not stopped or quarantined at the airport and travelled on to a road construction site in Kitui county outside Nairobi. Why was he not stopped? Well for the perfectly good reason that he was not showing any symptoms. The case came to light because when the man arrived at the construction site,
…road workers contracted by Sinohydro Corporation reported a case of a visibly sick Chinese national in their construction camp.
The Kenyan article went on to say that his colleagues were told to isolate him and observe him but not to come into contact with him.

The case made the papers in Kenya because when local police arrived at the camp they were denied admission by the Chinese company Sinohydro Corporation. It was also reported in the Kenyan press that a local medical team were also denied access.
Medics denied entry to Sinohydro Mutomo camp
Kitui County Chief Officer for Health Richard Muthoka confirmed that his medical team was also denied entry to the camp.

“Our medical team wasn’t allowed to access the Chinese camp in Mutomo but we have taken the necessary measures to swiftly establish what is happening and ensure all people working and mingling with the foreigners are safe,” Dr Muthoka stated.
Its interesting and important to note that an article in the ChinaDaily refuted the story the very same day. According to the Chinese article the man was not sick and his quarantine was routine. Which may well be true.

All this was 10 days ago. There has been no update that I can find. But whether the man was carrying the virus and was sick or whether it was all routine precaution is not really the point. Given the long latency of the virus we know from what has happened in Italy that the man could have been carrying and spreading the virus. Even if he was not how likely is it that no one entering Africa has been?

If I am in any way right, and I fervently hope I am not right, then all the headlines telling us how China getting its epidemic under control will not really matter from a global point of view. Of course it will be a huge triumph for China and I hope they succeed. But because the world seems to be turning a blind eye to what might be going on unreported in Africa, we could soon find that we have merely substituted one huge reservoir of infection for another. And Africa, unlike China is not going to be able to contain it.

In South Africa which is considered one of the African countries better equipped to deal with the virus this was the headline in The South African.
Coronavirus in Africa: Scare in Namibia, as SA hospital ‘not ready’ for cases
Tembisa hospital has been designated as one of the facilities where Cornoa virus victims would be quarantined and treated. The only problem is as the paper reports,
The 44-bed neo-natal unit is often overcrowded, and staff have previously complained about their working conditions, casting doubt over Tembisa’s ability to host coronavirus patients.
Jack Bloom, the DA’s leader in Gauteng, is upset that this location was chosen as one of three Gauteng hospitals to house patients with the deadly disease:
“Tembisa Hospital has been identified as one of three hospitals in Gauteng that will treat coronavirus cases, but this hospital is severely overcrowded and is only just recovering from antibiotic-resistant klebsiella infections that caused the deaths of 10 babies.”
“Unlike the other two identified hospitals, Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg and Steve Biko, there is simply no space at Tembisa Hospital to isolate coronavirus patients. It cannot be that Tembisa Hospital was chosen simply because it is near the OR Tambo airport where coronavirus-infected patients could enter the country.”
Meanwhile in Rwanda,
Rwanda health minister fired
Rwanda’s president Paul Kagame on Sunday … who was speaking at the National Leaders’ Retreat…accused several of them [ministers] including the ex-health minister Diane Gashumba of lying… to him about the availability of kits to test individuals for the deadly Coronavirus, Covid-19.
“One morning, I called one of the leaders and the Prime Minister about the Coronavirus and asked that they examine each one of us ahead of the Leader’s Retreat. I told them to tell the minister of health to ensure this."
“She responded that we have 3,500 kits, and that using 400 of them to test leaders would seriously deplete the number of kits we have. …
“Later we discovered that we do not have the kits as she said. We have kits for only 95 people and not 3,500.
If the world stands by and allows the virus to spread in Africa then Africa will be the reservoir for the virus from then on. We will have a situation where every traveller, every migrant and refugee trying to enter Europe from Africa, arriving on beaches in Spain, Italy and Greece, will likely also be a carrier of the Corona virus. That is a situation that will turn very ugly very fast.

Ironic and horrible as it is to say, the only saving grace might be that the virus will have already become endemic in Europe before that happens.

So much for Africa and Europe. What of America? There too the virus is going to reveal ugly things that people don’t want to face up to. It is just a fact that America has third world levels of poverty and neglect in almost every city. What will happen when the virus gets into those forgotten populations? Will very crack head and meth tweeker self isolate for the public good? Or will they be driven by hunger and a desperate need for their fix to be out every day, sick or not, many turning tricks and all looking for a fix? How is that going to work?
Will America lavish upon those people a level of medical care that they have never given them before? Suddenly the people living in tents and under freeways, defecating on city streets because they have nowhere else, are they going to be given hospital beds and isolation units?

Lets suppose the FEMA camps are opened up. How is it going to work putting those people, the people we prefer to forget, in the same camp as your grandmother? Social cohesion?

This virus is acting like an x-ray in all our countries and what its showing is not pretty.
