Unless Republicans are stupid, they won't give Jeffries the majority he would need. Which may mean 1,579 different votes before we have a Republican speaker.

MA did call at least a few years or more ago that the 2-team political field that has mostly played in D.C. since John Adams will suddenly become 3 teams (again, as it happened a few times). Basically, it's 52-card pick-up, with no one looking to pick up the cards.

No, he can't. He's done. But we have to watch for the RINO Replacement. Still think it will be Scalise. Again, nice guy but he's very moderate and more so than McCarthy. If I had to vote between only those 2, unfortunately, I'd take McCarthy. Sorry, I just think Scalise would backfire for MAGA R's. I suspect that's what McCarthy is waiting for. Absent that, he's just treading water and might as well step aside so that a new list of candidates can be considered.

That's just not going to happen. Those 19 or 20 would declare war on McCarthy on the floor and keep him hamstrung from moving forward on bringing anything to the floor if he decided to work on the D's side. He would be very weak with no confidence by his piers.
He doesn't have the votes after 3 rounds now. Someone new is going to emerge.

Can you imagine being McCarthy at home tonight? Probably 3 or 4 phones in use. He already threatened so would he be at the begging level? Wonder what his handler is saying to him. He's been promised so much money for becoming Speaker he's probably in a fetal position on the floor, crying his eyes out.
