What will you do if Obama wins?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately.

And before you jump on me yelling "they're all the same" let me say this: I have no illusions about Romney and he's definitely not my first choice but at least with him we have a chance of not ending up in a socialist one world hellhole state. With Obama we have no chance, he's already shown us what he wants to do with us.

Anyway, been thinking alot about this. Frankly, Obama and ESPECIALLY his followers disgust me so much at this point that I don't think I can stomach financially supporting these people via my tax dollars any longer.

I'm strongly considering going Galt, either by ratcheting up my withholding into the tax revolt zone or quitting my job entirely. Another option is getting a government job, one where I contribute absolutely nothing of productive value and am a drain on the tax system rather than feeding it. Another option is getting a job at a much lesser salary where the tax due will be zero.

DH already has a govt job (state level) so we could stay alive without me working, albeit without being able to save yet also without the current horrendous tax burden.

Are any of you also thinking this way? I've really about had enough.

A Romney win is a hope on my part that what ever is coming is perhaps delayed slightly.

I don't think it can be turned around.

We're too far gone, globally, and I see a plan to hit "reset" in the future.

We're too far gone, locally, with too many in this country feeling too entitled to what others have.

Nearly half of us have lost the moral compass that pointed us toward personal responsibility, independence, and a desire to work hard in order to achieve.

So, if Obama wins, I go dark and prepare hard (quietly).

We're already on borrowed time.

I agree with a lot of what you said, but what I bolded above rankles me, since I worked VERY hard for 50 years and was never "rewarded" by our system or my hard work and have ended up on SS. *sigh* -- life just isn't "fair" sometimes now, is it?

I love my ss payments too, and if "they" cut the amount I can still make it. If Obummer wins I'm going to be staying home a lot more, although I don't really go "out" all that much. It's a scary thought.

Now if Obama wins, what am I planning to do? Well, like others am supporting Romney but he was not my first choice. But he is better then Obama by far. If Obama gets relected then am bugging out to live in the back wilds year round. Already am back in the back wilds wandering and living a good part of each year. But if Obama gets back in then will just go back into those back wilds, disappear, and live year round. How much empty country is here in the American West beyond the end of the road still in this day and age. And again then will simply just disappear and do think that this outside world - America, as we have known it will not be around much longer. How much already because of Obama and his socialist - Communist Ilk have we been going down the toilet to our complete destruction.

While I agree with MT4design, the re-election of bamma can be considered a good thing...errr...in a way. We all know that this country is in collapse; with bamma working his magic the complete distruction will occur sooner than if Mitt is in charge trying to fix things. If the USA collapses soon then we'll all be young enough for the rebuild and set things right--based on the greatest document ever created by mankind--the Constitution.

Since I come from the mom, apple pie and John Wayne era, I don't recognize America anymore, anyway.

Will it have any effect on what I'm doing...no, but it will absolutely effect how fast I must do it.

Hell, I might even vote for bozo since I think I have one more "police action" in me if they speed-it-up. /sarc

It only took the presence of one righteous man to protect Sodom and Gomorrah. There are many good Christians praying, I'm hoping that we can slow down the collapse here and pray often for God to place stumbling blocks before the evil plans of entities and men to stave off what is coming for as long as possible, and that Americans wake up and prepare spiritually and physically before it's too late for them. God is in control, even when it seems like governments and evil people are.

There is little I can do whether oboingo or mickey mouse win, as I'm on a low SS amount. I want to get my Canadian passport, as I'm a dual citizen, I suspect it may come in very handy at some point-I recall those who were able to flee Germany to America were often successful in bringing their families out of the war zone where those behind it were unable to do it on their own.

I don't want to go down this road on this thread, please. Like it or not, ONE of these a-holes IS going to be president this year since the ability to break the left/right paradigm is simply not present in the MAJORITY of the population and we do not outnumber them at this time.
This is not the year for a protest vote.

Tweak, Queen of the prior-year protest votes (Harry Brown, Ross Perot, and many many write-ins).

That is not the case. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed.
The Lord revealed he was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because of the wicked ways of the people. There was no number of righteous mentioned until Abraham started bargaining with God.
It was Abraham that came up with a number. First it was 50 and God said sure no problem; you find 50 and I'll spare em.
God was not worried about being able to find 50 - he knew it was not gonna happen. It was Abraham that had second thoughts and continued to bargain; and he got the Lord down to 10.
But when the Angels got there, they could not find 10. Lot was it and the fire rained down.

If - excuse me - WHEN O wins then we firewall the throttles on prepping, pay of the remaining debt the best we can and we hole up for at least the next 9 months in wait and see mode. Hopefully we'll have a better garden next summer.

Either way, fiscally we're on the precipice of the cliff O, R or whoever - we're going over. Hopefully war won't come to our shores too quickly.

If O wins, i'll prolly burn my house down and a couple of my neighbors too. Then I'll drive up to Best Buy and thow a brick thru their window and go in and collect a couple of big screen teevees and load up my pockets with mobile phones. After that, I don't know, maybe go play some hoops with the grandkids.

I'm not sure it is fear that is leading us. It's more of complacency. That and depending too much on DC and big govt instead of having personal responsibility and taking care of ourselves. That is the 47% that we need to worry about. Not WHO we vote for but those 47% who does the voting.

When we stop treating the POTUS and Congresscritters like rock stars and movie stars, then we will see change.

There is no way the White House can fix our problems unless we fix the problems in our OWN houses.

I can see where that could lead to some fear in people. When the 47% who have no personal responsibility suddenly have to take responsibility for themselves when there is no more govt teat, it could get ugly. But they will eat themselves first.

Doesn't matter how I vote, Alabama will be a red state, and its few electoral votes will go republicrat.

What will I do, well business as usual, keep a weather eye out for changes and be prepared to drop back to pre-electric homesteading.

Probably will add to stores, seed, canning jars and lids etc.

Probably will become a bit more galt, although at this point i'm pretty much there already.

Get used to enjoying life as a voluntary peasant.

Spend more time working at getting the water wheel / shaft driven shop set up with my clansmen, and look for a larger anvil and improve son's forge / foundry stuff.

Work on finishing up the "modern buckboard" and consider trading up a couple of mules to go with the Belgians as pullers.

Look for more horse drawn equipment to refurbish

Collect as many varieties of heirloom seeds as I can.

Buy and store more tangibles for the future as I can. Can never have to much screws, nails, barbed wire etc around a homestead.

Look into getting a sawmill or finding someone with a small portable one that will cut for me.

Lay in more coal and firewood.

Buy guns n bullets n beans n bandaids to increase what I have now.

Try to pay the taxes up a bit in advance on the property so the gooberment don't eminent domain steal it. (Eminent doman = legalized theft in my book.)

Listen to more shortwave and less pravda news.

Watch while atlas shrugged finishes coming to life.

Learn how to live in a gulag if things go as heavy police state as I sense.

Watch things collapse, the big die off, and the coming of the new dark age.

Dig a new, deeper , better root cellar.

Lot of things, most I'm working on now, but I'll keep on till I die, or get killed cause you can't rule a free man, you might kill him, but you can't rule him.
