I know the feeling! I hope and pray Cary never has to have surgery again. I almost made myself sick over it last time with my anxiety issues. When he was discharged from the hospital, it was dark, and I had to drive home. I can barely see to drive at night. I was praying all the way home that I would be able to see well enough to get us there.
That driving home thing is on my mind too, DH does most of the driving, but if its getting dark its gonna be a stresser.

Oo vey. Day started great. It took a sharp turn for a bit. Now I'm hoping to get back on track. But as a result, I may have to run errands again tomorrow or Sunday.

Got halfway through the errands, was tracking on time to get them all done, and came out to a flat tire. So detour to Sam's Club, where I bought the tire, so they could look at it. They have a 3 hour wait. I asked them if they could just switch out the for the spare and I'd leave the tire to pick up tomorrow. That when that unknown thing happened. A couple of the guys recognized me and bumped the van to the front. (No, I have absolutely no idea why they do this.) Turns out the valve stem was bad. And it took an angle grinder to get the valve stem off, which also cut through the tmps sensor. They can't get any sensors in right now, but if I can get a schrader model, they will reinstall it and reprogram it for me, for free.

While there I found out that pick up services was still working on last night's orders. My order was not going to be ready anywhere near on time. So I had them cancel the order and went and grabbed what I could from it. Because, of course, the pre-charge hold won't release until tomorrow or Monday. Even thought the order is canceled. Ugh.

Then I swung by to pick up son's scrip, and due to all the delays, the pharmacy was closed for lunch. And we arrived right after they left.

I'm going to go make a cup of chair and stop for about 15 minutes. Because I haven't actually managed to stop. I got home, had to unload, then had to deal with an issue for someone that had been blowing up my phone over it. I haven't even gotten the frozen stuff to the freezer yet.

I have a medical question. I have really injured my right rotator cuff. Would it be best to buy a shoulder brace, or let it stay loose and use it a bit to keep it from freezing up? I can hardly raise my arm to feed myself and forget about reaching over my head or behind me, because it hurts like h*ll. I don't even know how I injured it. There is no sign of inflammation.

I know that none of you are doctors, but I would value those in the knows advice. I'll be going to town grocery shopping, Monday, and I'd like to get the brace then if I need to.

I've had similiar issue, light exercise is best than not using it. Very gentle exercises. You might want to see your doctor and get some xrays. I had physical therapy for mine and it helped for awhile but ultimately I stopped and just did the exercises. You can also try your tens unit on it, that's what the physical therapist did and it was helpful. although I'd be hard pressed to find my unit, I never used it on my should here at home. Actually I need to find it and use it on my should and my lower back, my back is why the VA gave it to me. I've also use some king of rub on my shoulder, it helps too.

I have been busy especially with the new fur kid...she is learning the ways around here..and a joy to have..
We got 4 meals from our turkey and boned out and vacuum sealed and froze enough to make another 10 meals...turkey Alfredo and veggies ..creamed turkey over biscuits. .etc..so that was a lot for a little. ..
Have been checking lists and seeing if we have missed anything..ordered some L.L.Bean women's base layer. .with coupons..10% off plus $10.00 off..really helped
Plus stocking up the pantry for Maggie Mae..she is too cute for her own good.
Praying for all..

I HATE giving advice when I don’t know all the ins and outs - and there can be SO many variables here. Stress/strain/tear, pinched nerve, bone spur…so I’ll give advice I can (as someone with notorious upper back issues). But above all, GO SLOW, stop when there is pain, alternate ice and heat, and even if you think there is no inflammation, still treat it as such. Lots of water.
In cases of pinched nerves: Lacrosse balls are excellent, tennis balls work in a pinch. You’re basically going to place it somewhere around your scapula, lay against a wall or on the ground, and roll that ball around until you feel a sore spot or knot. Play with moving your arm around , out to the side, up, down, held across your chest, but find the knot and ease into it. When I’m on the ground, I find the knot and then basically move my arm around in circles, and can feel the knot pushing against the ball, giving way, and moving across again. It’s a bad way of explaining it, but once you feel it, you know what I mean!
Stretch/release: place your forearms on your countertop about shoulder width apart, push your hips backwards and drop your back down between your arms. Some people say to rest your tricep on the counter (or a low stool), lace your fingers behind your head, and drop your upper back down. You have to play with this one a bit, and it should cause some cracks in your spine. My finishing move against a counter is to place my palms against the counter edge and do a push-up while collapsing my shoulder blades/pulling them back (imagine an object between your shoulder blades and you’re trying to squeeze it tight) pull your chin to the ceiling, and you should get some excellent snap/crackle/pops.
A good warm up I would have my dance students do is to stand upright, knees roughly shoulder width apart, place your hands straight out to your sides, palms up. Without moving anything from hips down, turn your torso to face your left side flipping your palms down and up. Turn your torso to the right flipping your palms down and up. It’s a slow deliberate movement, no flinging around.

It can be really hard to explain via text. Look up Bob and Brad on YouTube, The two most famous physical therapists on the internet (in their opinion). They have AWESOME videos on various physical issues and how to help alleviate them.

Just want to wish everyone well who is reading this thread. Slow and steady continues for me.
I had a routine procedure done this past week which led to some not routine results and I will be needing surgery. December 20 is my date for surgery. Prayers greatly appreciated.

I be in high gear getting everything ready for Christmas.

MARANTHA!! Even so, come LORD JESUS!!!
Port placement done this morning. It went well, but I have a feeling I won't get much done today.
Uh-Hum!
Don't you think you ought to give that port time to "settle in??"
While it isn't major surgery, you would actually be allowed to slow down a little bit!! Do you ever have any "down time" Moldy??

You are in my prayers girl!!!
I pray as much for your manic prepping behaviors almost as much as your healing!!!! I have never met anyone who is so ill, who over works themselves to the max.....like you do!!
May you feel GOD'S touch today!!!
BLESSINGS!!

Hubby and I got the barbed wire out of the old fence row that he is cleaning out. We have no large animals, so we don't need the fence. If we did decide to get cattle, the fences would need rebuilding anyway. It looks much better with that grown up mess gone.

I haven't seen many holes at the grocery store lately. Prices are up. But there is plenty to buy. My sister works at a chicken plant. They make breaded products. Twice this week they got off early because they ran out of meat to run. They ran out last night, but had a truck coming. It did not get there before shift change, but at least 3rd shift had something to run.

I got my Christmas tree out and put together. It is my third year for an artificial tree. I prefer a real one, but this is easier and it looks nice. There have been many years that I just didn't have the energy to do the tree. But I did it anyway. I always enjoy it when it is done.

You almost sound like my.mama! She says the same thing. Last night was rough, and I had to take something for pain in the middle of the night. The things I had planned for today will just have to wait, I guess.

Thank you to all of you that have been holding me up in thought and prayer. It means so very much to me.

I actually didn't stop yesterday until I had most of the groceries put away. I have 2 freezer pizzas to cut into meal portion and put away. Everything else got done.

And then, after I got over the need to crash at dinner, I found myself in the state of needing something to do with my hands that didn't require a lot of brain power. So I pulled a pair of jeans and start ripping the seams. The first few will go to create a patchwork, tiered, denim skirt that keeps a lot of the characteristics of the jeans.

Anywho, I could talk forever on that so I'll stop there. But I got so caught up in doing that, that I didn't realize that I was staying up way late. So I crashed around 2 am.

The precharges still haven't been removed from my account, so I'm free to have a day at home. Plans are normal chores, an hour or two of work, and then doing the binding on the canning mat. Oh, and finding an instruction book for using knitting looms.

Praying for you ladies, Sherree, Britches and Moldy. Except for the pending surgery on Monday, all is well here on my sand hill.

Speaking of old fencing, when DH came on the scene he started clearing back to the property line in the back and found old fencing and old posts that my great grandfather put up over 100 years ago. He left as much as was possible and put up new fencing with it. Where I live now is where my great grandparents lived when the first got married. My mother said they were never able to get a good well back here and neither has DH. They ultimately moved to a house a bit closer to the road and had a good well, the culvert is still there. I have the dipper that I knocked into the well several times when I was a toddler. My g grandfather got tired of it so he finally paddled my behind and I stopped knocking it in.

I've made a pledge to myself not to order anything in December, I may be repeating myself on that, I can't remember. I will just need to replace a few things in the store at walmart.

Sherree... that sounds more like a frozen shoulder than a rotator cuff injury, especially given you can't remember er any action that could have caused it. Definitely keep it moving. There are exercises online to help.

BIL thought he would tough it out with rotator cuff injury...he suffered for a couple years with it. Never got better, just not "as bad." Then he got the surgery...after PT, back to normal.

Don't wait! Get it fixed.

I didn't get much sleep last night, because no matter how I laid, my shoulder wouldn't cooperate. I drug out my TENS unit this morning. I said there was no inflammation, but this morning my shoulder ball is twice the size of the other one. I have been applying BioFreeze ever few hours and taking Aleve. I have a doctor's appointment on Wednesday. Hopefully he can do something. He may send me over to my rheumatologist. I don't have a scheduled appointment to see him again, til April.

Anyway, it's been so warm here that I ventured outside between rain showers, yesterday. Every single one of my walking onions are up about 6 inches high! I didn't think they made it, after our dog walked up and down the bed, but there they were, and so healthy looking. The mustard has all gone to seed, but we're still getting turnips. The turnip greens have got so large that they are tough, so I stopped picking them.

I'm using the rest of my roast and potatoes to make roast beef hash out of tonight for our supper. I've never made it before, so I hope it turns out ok. I don't have a recipe.

I had a "frozen shoulder for about 6 months.......the story of it's healing would actually belong in the Religion forum though, and I have told it before....so will just encourage you to do as Summerthyme suggests. If it doesn't get better, don't just let it go.....it is pretty rough with only one arm and a hand on the "good" arm!

I thought when you had a frozen shoulder it was so stiff you couldn't move your arm. Guess I was wrong about that, so thank ya'll for letting me know that. I can move my shoulder and arm fine, it just hurts like h*ll to do it, and it almost constantly hurts even without motion. I can't stand any pressure on it at all. I'll check out those exercises, and I'll try to keep it moving, instead of buying the brace.

I can't remember exactly what is wrong with my shoulder, but it had gotten so bad that i could not raise my arm to fix my hair, so I favored it. Now it still bothers me, but I do a couple of exercises, particularly raising my arm all the way up and it loosens it up enough to be able to use it.

As for surgery, that'll never happen. Years ago an ortho recommended surgery on my back, my PCP and I both agreed that we'd never do that unless we were confined to a wheel chair, he retired (wanted to get out of the system because he could see where it was going) and I'm still not in a wheel chair.

The man we have been giving eggs to came by today, I didn't go out to talk to him, but I heard him complain about the price of feed at the local store is $20 a bag and it cost him $42. I divided that by $3 and that gives him 14 dozen eggs. He came off cheap, but then again we never charged him. I think he got 5 dozen today, I didn't count them, I didn't go out to talk to him. I peeked out and there are two bags on the porch, I guess he got the message. I'm giving eggs to two more people now, so he won't be getting as much as he has in the past. Both of these people offered to pay for them and I said no.

I've had rotator cuff problems in the past. My rheumatologist diagnosed me with it several years ago, but nothing like the pain and problems I'm having with it now. He always recommends a steroid injection, but those hurt, too. I don't like those injections! I've had my share of them too many times already in several joints. It may come to that, though.

I've been taking Summerthyme's advice and watching exercise videos for this. I've already done a few of them, but will continue to do more this afternoon. I'm also using an ice pack to try and get the swelling down. The battery on my TENS unit is recharging. I plan to use that, also.

Speaking of fixing your hair, taking a shower and washing my hair this morning almost had me calling Cary to help! I was in tears by the time it was all done.

Sherree~I’ll be very interested to know how your hash turns out and how you make it. I remember eating the hash my maternal grandmother made from leftover ham. I never saw her make it and only remember it having the ham and some sage for seasoning, no idea what else was in it but it was always delicious. I sure hope your shoulder gets better soon.

Judy~We give excess eggs away too mostly to our daughters and a couple of elderly relatives and happy to do so. We have had a few people that we gifted a few dozen eggs to, go and buy feed but it really made us uncomfortable. It makes me feel like we were somehow beholden to them, like I bought you feed now you owe me eggs. We had an instance where someone called for a dozen and said her daughter would take 2 dozen! In those instances I’d rather they just give us a few dollars to go toward feed if they feel the need to do something and be done with it even though we aren’t interested in the money. Your situation is different and makes you wonder what that man is doing with all those eggs he got for free. Glad he paid up!

I broke down and took some cold medicine last night, ugh, I can’t seem to shake this cold or whatever it is.

Like I said, I don't have a recipe, but am using a suggestion another member here told me to do with leftover roast and potatoes. Put a little oil in a skillet, and fry up some chopped onions. When that is done, add the shredded roast. Chop up leftover potatoes into small cubes, then add those. Mix it all up. Heat on one side til almost crispy, then turn over and brown on the other side. I have no idea how it will turn out, but that's what we're having tonight. Any other suggestions or recipes are most welcome! I usually use the shredded roast to make BBQ, but thought I would try something different. I'll also be making some frozen stir fry veggies to go with it with a can of chicken breasts added. That will give us something to fall back on if the hash doesn't go well.

I'd add some worchestershire sauce to it, gives such a rich flavor.

I'll do that, Judy. Thanks! I cooked the roast, potatoes, and carrots in my crockpot with a packet of Lipton onion soup, but I don't think that cooked into the roast and potatoes will give it enough flavor. I was thinking that it was going to taste sorta bland, without adding something to give it more flavor.

Oh yes, I do, too. We love it, and I sometimes use it with my stir fry veggies. I also use it in my meatloaf and baked beans. Lots of uses.
another one I used for years was Kitchen Bouquet, but DH doesn't care for the taste. I always used it when I made gravy with corn starch instead of flour, my family loved it, but they are not my family anymore.

Its a browning and seasoning sauce. Walmart has been out so I bought 4 bottles at Super One, its gotten a bit more expensive. I'm going to try and sneak a little into DH's food and if he doesn't complain then I'll use it more often.

Our chickens just started laying and I'm thankful for that! I downsized my flock this fall and only kept my spring chickens. I also added silkies this spring in a separate area. I just love silkies! They are so sweet, go broody, and I'm getting 4 tiny eggs a day from them. I don't sell eggs, but we do have family and friends we will share with.

I've been cleaning the pantry. I am taking a bunch to a free pantry that I've always supported. Some things have expired and some aren't. Mostly it's things we both agreed needed to be put to use by those who need it. I want to get it totally down to what is necessary for us since our eating habits are changing.
We are hosting Christmas this year and are taking this as an opportunity to clear out more stuff.
I've got radishes, swiss chard and carrots coming up in the green house. I planted 50 tulip bulbs, the squirrels have stolen about 6 so not bad so far.
Dh found a new bathroom counter with sink for the bath upstairs at a yard sale for 35 dollars. We are remodeling both baths in the spring. The upstairs sink is starting to crack so this will get us through til then.
Prayers for all.

This is my second 500 calorie day, although I've still got 117 calories to go and I'm truly stuffed. Earlier I had two 20 calorie no carb tortillas with Bumble Bee Tuna Salad, That was 123 calories. I've just eaten a can of Margaret Holmes seasoned cabbage, with a can of crider chicken breast, with an egg stirred in, that's 260 calories, I'm stuffed. The cabbage is heavily seasoned with pepper. It was pretty much uncomfortably to spicy for me, but I ate it, not going to waste good, low carb, low calorie food.

This is called a down day, the alternate day is an up day. Since I stopped eating after 4:00 pm I'm not particularly hungry, but on the up day I have to make sure I get enough calories without over doing it. That was kind of a challenge yesterday because I wasn't very hungry.

On our way to town for his preop I asked DH to stop at Mcd so I could get two breakfast wraps. I was a little bit hungry but after eating those two I was stuffed. After all was said and done with the preop it was several hours later and DH want his favorite (what use to be a 4 for 4) . I just wanted to get the four nuggets and a diet coke, but the cashier said you can get another burger for only a dollar, so we did. And yes, I ate it.

Last night DH came in the living room and I was eating some trail mix and he said what happened to not eating after four. I told him I was only eating a little and that was all I had, I felt like I needed to add a few more calories to my up day.

so tomorrow would be an up day and Monday a down day. I'm going to be a prisoner of the waiting room at the hospital for many hours and I don't want to feel restricted food wise. I know this is all in my head, so we'll see how this works out. My stomach has shrunk and it doesn't take much to satisfy, but I don't want to mess myself up, which is easy to do.

This is something I need to pray about. God is still good all the time.
