Cary ordered me and him a pair of house shoes from Walmart. We're going to have a good stock of shoes, LOL. I've never seen these in the store, but they looked nice online. They even had them in my size, online, which I've never seen my size at Walmart, unless they were little girlie shoes.

good for ya'll. We are well supplied also. DH has slippers and I wear flip flops with a good arch support. I'm so used to wearing my flip flops I'm not sure that a regular house shoe would work for me. I've thought about getting some but slip on shoes of any kind really don't work for me.

I've found that once I find a quality shoe or boot that fits well - stock up! More and more it seems that the style is discontinued shortly after purchase...then it's back to trying to find something suitable. Wife has it worse...finding anything made to last in a 5 is rough.

Tell me about it! Size 4 1/2-5 is what I wear. That's why I'm always on the lookout for shoes that I like and fit. It may seem a bit extreme to buy so many at one time, but I have to buy when I find them. I wish that it would become more popular to have specialty shops for the more petite among us. That would include clothing as well as shoes.

We just got word this morning that DDIL's brother has just up and flown down here from Boise, Idaho. He is moving in with her mom, until he can get on his feet and get a job. He gave no one any warning that he was coming. What a culture shock he's in for! Plus, he has Asperger's that keeps him sorta socially awkward. Never married.

Our area of Mississippi is under the gun for severe weather, including a possible tornado outbreak starting this afternoon into tonight. We're going to be hunkering down today. I've got all my laundry done, and everything that can possibly blow away outside secured. We're having leftovers for supper, tonight, so if the power goes out, it just has to be reheated. It's too warm for a fire, so I'll use our little propane indoor camp stove to reheat everything.

Online tracking says I'm supposed to get another pair of my shoes, today. It's my walking/hiking ankle boots. I already have a pair of those in my BOB in my car, but these will be for use now.

Unless it is brutally cold I just run around the house barefoot. .if it is super cold a I use a pair of a L. L. Bean
shearling slippers. .pretty sure they are doing size 5 again... some places are size 7 as the smallest
That is me. But no insulation in floor and way early winter cold temps means that I need to find some slippers for in the house.

Prayers up for all that will be dealing with storms today and tonight. We’re going to be paying close attention to the weather and may just go sleep in the basement bedroom tonight.

We‘re supposed to have granddaughter today but it seems she got sick overnight, not sure what it is this time. It’s absolutely ridiculous how many illnesses are going around right now. The grands can’t seem to catch a break.

I‘m feeling some better, just not very energetic yet. I have yet to decide what we’re having for supper tonight but I’m happy it’s not poultry! I might make some kind of casserole using ground beef.

Prayers up for you, too, aviax2. I've got 3 different weather channels going, and it seems our bad weather will be going on all night and into tomorrow morning. Things appear to be changing by the minute. Now, our county has been included in the highest risk zone. We just got another weather alert for another severe thunderstorm for our county, but it's slightly north of us this time.

I'm glad you're feeling better.

I wear an 8 in the vionix flip flops and a 9 1/2 4E in New Balance athletic shoes. And a 10 in rubber boots. The larger sizes are for width, the flips width doesn't matter. I have always had a hard time finding a shoe that fits and yes, that's exactly why I have a good number of shoes and boots. And I've worn men's shoes for years. I do have a couple pairs of womens lace up shoes that I can wear, but have gotten tighter since I gained weight. I'm still not eating after 4:00 pm

We were in Shreveport at the VA most of the day. I finally had my appointment with physical therapy, and I really liked the physical therapist. She gave me a new cane, and ordered knee braces for me, they didn't have my size in stock. She even offered me one of those wonderful up right walkers, but we decided I don't need one right now, but can get one later. I have a follow up appointment the first of January and I think I'll get it then, better get one while I can. She said I have to get my referral from my PCP for ortho. I had to jump through the hoops of xrays and physical therapy first and I've done that. My knee is certainly not as bad as it was back in the summer, but I want what I need in case it gets worse again.

We have to go back to Shreveport on Friday for DH's preop for his ear surgery on December 5.

Today has been a mixed bag. Right now? Finishing a job and waiting for the storms to pass over enough that I can safely put the trash up to the curb.

I start the new job on Thursday, and geez, I can't wait. And I seriously have short timer's syndrome. But I'm not allowing it to take over.

Sam's Club had some open toe fuzzy slippers, but the largest size was a 10. I'm going to look at the men's slippers when I go down for groceries this coming weekend.

Made son tuna fish casserole from scratch. By the time that was done, I was just dead tired. So my version was can of tuna, noodles, and butter. Works. A lot less calories that way.

Yes.....I understand about a WIDE foot!!! Since I was a kid, I have worn shoes for boys or men because I usually wear a D width. That was NOT fun when I was a teen.....and young woman; can't really get pretty high heels in a D WIDTH!! And what we could get for flats were NOT very feminine looking.

In addition, I have a VERY HIGH INSTEP, so a lot of the shoes in the right width hurt because of the instep. And my ankle bones are VERY LOW on my foot, causing lots of shoes to rub on my ankle.

Lovely feet I have!!! Just like my Daddy's!! I have a rib cage age just like his too......big knots on the right hand side of the sternum....nothing like that on the left hand side!!???

Praying for all that are in that bad weather window. We too buttoned everything down early this morning anticipating the wind and rain. Planted onions and garlic and cleaned up a few leftovers in the garden and yard. Spending too much time on the phone trying to straighten out BIL's insurance and money mess but it has to be done. Trying to get everything online so I can at least make sure that everything is being paid. We knocked off a little early and spent some time with the chickens! Enjoyed every second of it! Mostly eating out of the garden. Rutabegas for dinner along with collards and smoked pork loin.
Hope everyone has a restful evening! Oh and I wear a size 4 shoe. We should all get together and start a small foot store!!

Wow! All you ladies with tiny feet! I wear an 8 1/2 to 9 wide depending on how they’re made, I call it having a firm foundation. I absolutely hate having anything on my feet. If I’m home, I’m barefoot inside. If my feet feel cold I’ll put on socks but my feet tend to get too warm most of the time.

I ended up making spaghetti for supper and it really hit the spot, the only thing that would have made it better would have been some salad to go with it.

So far the weather hasn’t been too bad here, at times the rain is hard and knocks out Hughes, the last time I saw the weather radar it looked rough down in MS so more prayers up.

I wear 9.5
It's just as bad. I wear men's boots because they fit better and they're cheaper.
I get almost all my shoes on Amazon, and I'm a 9.5 too. Around the farm I just wear crocs or Bogg boots. On the rare occasions we go to a Dr's appointment or the store, I wear ballet flats or black boots, so if anyone ever tells our kids that their mama wears combat boots it will be the truth... :D

Lots to get done in the next 2 weeks before starting cancer treatment (again). Got Botox today (not cosmetic, but to help with jaw opening), trained on my lymphedema vest (Santa loves me - that thing is awesome!), and made a thick turkey-barley-vegetable soup on the woodstove.

Paychecks may be a little skimpy in the near future, so I am trying to eat from the pantry and freezer and not go to the grocery store at all. We'll see how far I get. I do need to get some supplements ordered and maybe a Christmas present for Mom.

Most places that sell women's shoes don't carry any size below a 6 or 6 1/2. My worst shoe shopping experience is trying to find a nice pair of dress shoes in a size 4 1/2 or 5, depending on how they are made determines which size I have to have.

When I was first in the Marines (a long long time ago), one of our admin folks was a tiny little young lady of Japanese ancestry. She was only about 4'9" and wore something like size 3 1/2 boots. The usual companies that contract to the gov't don't even make them. They have(had?) some special program where they would contract out boots for odd ball sizes like that and the military folks automatically get a pair of boots every year. She said it was cool to get them, but those old black leather boots lasted forever, so after a few years she had more than she ever needed.

I remember a few years ago going into a shoe store looking for shoes. This particular store got in some nice shoes from time to time that would fit me, but there was another woman in this small town that wore the same size I do. She knew when the delivery truck arrived. So, on that day, she went to this store and bought every pair she liked. That always left me with what she didn't want, which was almost nothing. The lady that owned the store told me that I needed to find a shoe store that catered to Asian women, because they almost always wore small size shoes. I haven't found one of those type stores around here.

We made it ok through the storms last night. After yesterday, I was hoping all the storms would pass, before bedtime. No! We had to get up twice during the night with severe thunderstorms moving over us. Cary has already been outside to see if we had any damage. None, of which we are so thankful. I know of 2 tornadoes that did quite a bit of damage just to our south. Lowndes and Choctaw counties. I don't know if there were any more touchdowns in MS. or not. These 2 reports were on our local news this morning, because they are in our vicinity.

I actually do have combat boots. A few years before I moved to the woods I lucked on a pair of Marine issue boots at good will for $4. I grabbed them, and they are so comfortable, I wore them the whole time I was moving. Good support and comfortable, although i don't wear them much anymore.

I picked up some more storage barrels yesterday, and am planning to fill all of them up before the potential railroad strike. My birds have been eating a lot this year, and I can't afford to be caught with my pants down if that sort of thing isn't being moved anymore.

Well after a day and a half off heavy rain, the barnyard and feed room (that I haven't worked on) are flooded. There is water in the front of one of the stalls, but the rest of the barn is dry, so I'm going to consider that a win. I was afraid the entire barn would be flooded this morning.
The ancient geldings new turn out rug came, and it has so much hardware on it that it took dh & I both to figure it out. I miss the old days of closed front blankets that were super easy to put on. I'm hoping that the gelding won't take all these adjustable straps as a challenge to tear off...

I'd have asked the owner to give me a heads-up on the delivery truck schedule to let me have a chance!

Someone has hand their hand in the pie and was twitching things. But I finally have smoothed things a bit.

But then my son decided he wasn't going to eat lunch. Then it was the grumpies because I was "forcing" him. (Get in here and eat your lunch.) And within about 5 minutes, it was, "Okay, I'm going to eat it all now." Of course, with all sorts of grumpy noises. (I don't typically insist on all if he's not really hungry. Just a few bites to make sure.)
It probably helped when I told him that dinner tonight would be tacos, his favorite.

Going to be so happy when the errands are done on Friday and we're back and tucked in for the month, except for doctor visits.

I hope everyone made it through the storms unscathed. The worst of it went east of us thankfully and we did get some much needed rain. It‘s a beautiful cool fall day with lots of sunshine.

The plan today was take care of all my houseplants and get the living room clean and under control. Plants have been watered and tended too, moved around and a few that were looking pretty hopeless got dumped outside in the flower bed! Now that I’ll start opening the window blind in our bathroom to let the afternoon sun in (too hot in the summer) I moved 3 that were looking a little sad out of the living room to the bathroom. That leaves 23 in the living room. I’m fast running out of energy on the “cleaning” part, but I’ll just have to rest more often. Granddaughter should be here tomorrow and Friday and it’s easier for me to get certain things done while she’s not here. We’re having leftover spaghetti for supper so I don’t have to cook at least.

DH got feed for the cattle delivered and went and bought several bags of chicken feed today. He also went to the grocery store. I was looking at the receipt and where he bought an 8 lb bag of jumbo baking potatoes for $4.99 it said he got a $5.00 savings! Ridiculous!

As I was reading over last week's thread, to my surprise, there was a controversy of sorts going on over something I had said, and a misunderstanding. I thought I would try to clear this up in this thread.

First and foremost, my DDIL isn't food sensitive to anything. She spends a lot of time on the computer reading about all the things that come across the wires that isn't supposed to be good for you. That's where she formed all of her eating habits from. I said that she is extreme in her beliefs. Examples.....She will not touch any regular milk product, because she doesn't believe that God ever intended for humans to drink milk from a cow! That is her only reason for it, not that she is sensitive to cow's milk or a vegetarian. She uses almond milk. She won't use regular toothpaste, because she read on the internet that it causes Alzheimer's. She won't eat anything that comes in a can, such as veggies/other food items from the store, because those metal cans cause cancer. No gluten, cause she read on the internet that it could cause Celiac disease. No carbs, because it can cause weight gain. No MSG, because it could cause something, but I can't remember what. . I could go on and on and on with her questionable beliefs (It can cause this or that). She has been my DDIL for almost 3 years now. I have bent over backwards to use ONLY the products that she uses when I would cook for her. It was a chore and added expense on my part to do so. I was glad to do it, faithfully. She ate it without any reservations. But, last Christmas, for some unknown reason, she decided to bring her own meal (just enough for herself), and she brought nothing to contribute to the whole meal. Her reason was that she didn't trust my cooking to her specifications. That hurt! So, I decided, this year, I wouldn't do most of the cooking. I wanted her to do mostly the whole meal at her house. That way, she could cook everything the way she wanted, not me. I only contributed to the meal as she told me what to bring.

If she had food sensitivities/restrictions, I would not have as much trouble with understanding where she is coming from, but that is not the case.

I hope this will clear up any misunderstandings or confusion.

edited to add......I have no problems with people trying to eat healthy. We do, but not to the extreme that some do. I believe in moderation in all things.

I have to say that our diet is actually more restrictive than hers. But ours are actually proven issues. The biggest problem at the moment is that my son's diet and keto don't mesh well. So I find myself having to cook two different versions of meals for quite a few of our basic meals. But I'm working it out.

Last night at church it came up in discussion about eating venison. I was shocked that several people said they don't like venison, particularly ground venison. Naturally I spoke up and told them I was surprised. The pastor (whom I love) asked me if we bought beef and I said no, not ever, and why would I when we have venison. DH spoke up and said we only buy bacon and ham and I added pork ribs.

These peeps are good ole boys, truly the salt of the earth.

DH did say he does not like to eat the meat from bucks because its strong tasting. Me, I can't tell the difference, saves more for me. Although, DH has only killed one buck and that was for the horns, and we did eat the meat. He has no interest in any more horns. I've been in peoples homes that have deer heads all over the walls and I don't think they much care for venison.

We live in a diverse world, and even the good ole boys have different opinions about what they eat and don't eat.

Last night was pizza at church, I had two cups of black coffee with a little pink salt in it to cut down the bitter taste. The salt I took with me was the pink chunks and they didn't dissolve very well, so I need to change to the fine salt in the small container I had in my pocket.

I brought three pieces of pizza home with me and ate them later, I was immediately sorry, I broke my not eating after 4:00 pm and on top of that the pizza was too doughie, deep dish, I prefer thin crust cause I don't like that much bread. Since I started my not eating at night I've been wanting to get back to alternate day fasting. so the pizza last night will force me to only eat 500 calories today, since I don't want to blow the whole thing. I've already had 109 calories from my collegen and coconut oil, so that leaves me 391 calories. Sounds like a can of zucchini or squash with an egg and a small can of chicken day. Filling and low cal, and to me, tasty.

Judy
