I'd like to add Gonzalo Lira as an excellent, if highly opinionated, resource. He's an interesting journalist: a Chilean citizen, raised in California, and a veteran first-hand observer of revolutions and civil wars.

He's very good at connecting the dots, and currently delivers his podcasts from Lviv, in the Ukraine. Be aware that he's a devout Roman Catholic, and blames many of the world's current problems on a hidden cabal of Jewish bankers.

You can find his videos at Gonzalo Lira Again

Yes, because how could anyone possibly be in favor of peace??? Also, Kirby should learn his history before blathering on about Russia and China being two countries that are chafing against "this international rules-based order that the United States and so many of our allies and partners have built up, since the end of World War II."

I won't give the whole game up in this missive, but part of it is that the Soviet Union was one of the victors at the end of WWII, not the Russian Federation. Further, I'll leave it to our readers to research the history of China, but will note that that's something Mr. Kirby obviously hasn't done.

Okay. No one's got it yet? The (communist) People's Republic of China wasn't proclaimed until late 1949, long after WWII had ended. Prior to that, the Nationalist Chinese were still at war with the Communist Chinese, when the nationalists were eventually forced to relocate to Taiwan.

Admittedly, some here might think a four year difference doesn't amount to much and while I have no use for the communist Chinese - or communism of any stripe - one would expect our national leaders to at least be accurate when they toss out criticisms to a worldwide audience.

Dima (who lives in Vietnam or S'pore, I forget now) gets real granular with the names of the units and the little villages but he has excellent updates. I can't understand his Russian accent very well when he starts popping off the village names but I think it's mostly me; I'm just listening at Texican speed. It's kind of funny how he starts each video the same way every day. (only changing to say whether the updates are VERY interesting or just lots of them lol)

Good point, Doc. I was late to the party but would've been happy to throw Chiang Kai-Shek's name and his Nationalist movement into the mix. You're absolutely right (and so is Andre Martyanov) about western "leaders" - particularly US and Canadian ones obviously never having had their full course of real history as opposed to the vaporware version. So why is it that uneducated dopes like me have to remind these idiots of their silly dreams not having anything to do with reality?

And communism is just a godless older religion which has morphed into the new realm of climate change and statism. It doesn't even deserve to be capitalized but does deserve to be stomped into the dust, as it will be some day.

Mao Tse-Tung's Long March and all the millions of lives wiped out from the end of WWII until through the Korean War (where Mao suckered MacArthur into going all the way to the Yellow River before ambushing him with his Chinese hordes and causing the long tactical winter retreat across the Cho-sen Reservoir which became known as the Frozen Chosen). My dad survived that as part of Chesty Puller's Marines (they have us surrounded, so we've got them right where we want them) and went on to survive through the whole thing after gathering up some Silver Stars and Purple Hearts.

He never did heal up enough after the last PH to go back to the front, so they shipped him from the hospital ship to Okinawa to finish out his tour as a Shore Patrolman. Knowing how crazy he got when he got mad, I'm sure there were plenty of busted heads to go around during that time.

You're right,. Very good addition.

He's under house arrest by the Ukrainians in Kharkov who pulled his passport after hauling him in for questioning, so he does go silent every now and then. I suspect those two dots are connected.

The other day, I misspoke because I thought Kirby was in the Pentagon but he's actually the spokesman for the National Security Council.

No wonder he's such a dweeb, reporting to Jake Sullivan who reports to Bai-Den.

"... Putin is doing the right thing for Russia..."

Precisely what has he done, other than showing the Russian Regular Army could not fight it's way out of a wet paper bag, and spook Finland and Sweden to start thinking NATO.
Putin’s failure was in trusting that he was negotiating with European leaders who were negotiating the Minsk agreements in good faith. Now that Macron and Angela have admitted they were lying, he has conceded that he has no one to negotiate with, as they are all LIARS.

When Russia initially invaded who assumed that he could get the Ukrainians to realize that they needed to return to the table and stop attacking Russian-speaking citizens in eastern Ukraine. When he realized that he had been duped by a treacherous Western NATO leadership, he realized that his mistake had cost Russia dearly and it was time to take off the velvet gloves.

The Duplicitousness of the West’s leaders will be the Death of us all. Why you, Troke, cannot see that Putin‘s Russia is the only country on earth fighting the “evil” NWO because it has to in order for Russia to survive as a sovereign country I have no idea. But I wish that the US had leadership that subscribed to the oath that they were required to take when being installed to “defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

But we do not, so it is over, especially when old people who have been around for over 70 years do not perceive the treason happening right before their eyes, members of TB2K in many cases...

Larry Johnson makes the point that no real effective military would constantly blather on about their upcoming “counter offensive “ as Ukraine and NATO have:
Not that it won’t happen, but I also suspect this is a narrative shaping move.

◽️ In the Kupyansk direction, operational and tactical aviation strikes, artillery fire and heavy flamethrower systems of the "Western" grouping of troops hit Ukrainian armed forces units in the areas of Dvurechnaya, Timkovka, Olshana in the Kharkiv region and Novoselovskoye in the Luhansk People's Republic. Up to 50 Ukrainian servicemen, two armored fighting vehicles and two vehicles were destroyed.
In the Krasno-Limanskoe direction, artillery and heavy firing systems of the Group of Forces (Forces) "Center" defeated enemy manpower and equipment in the areas of Nevskoe, Belogorovka of the Luhansk People's Republic, Yampolovka and Hryhorovka of the Donetsk People's Republic. Over 90 Ukrainian servicemen, three armored fighting vehicles, three vehicles, a Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer, as well as D-20 and D-30 howitzers were destroyed in this direction during the day.
In the Donetsk direction, as a result of active actions of Southern Group of Forces units, more than 80 Ukrainian servicemen, three armored combat vehicles, four pickup trucks, three Grad MLRS combat vehicles, Msta-B howitzer, as well as a US-made AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery radar station were destroyed during the day.
On the South Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya directions, strikes by tactical aircraft and artillery fire of the Vostok Group of Forces hit AFU units in the areas of Novomikhailovka, Ugledar, Prechistovka, Privolnoye of the Donetsk People's Republic and Orekhov of the Zaporizhzhya region. The losses of the enemy in these directions during the day amounted to more than 50 Ukrainian servicemen, three pickup trucks, as well as a D-30 howitzer.
◽️ In the Kherson direction, up to 20 Ukrainian servicemen, three vehicles, as well as two self-propelled howitzers "Gvozdika" were destroyed in the course of the day.
Operational-tactical and army aviation, missile troops and artillery of groups of troops (forces) of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation hit 92 artillery units in firing positions, manpower and equipment in 114 areas. Two hangars with weapons and military equipment of the 122nd Territorial Defense Brigade were hit near the village of Otradokamenka, Kherson Oblast.
◽️ A Ukrainian Air Force Mi-8 helicopter was shot down by fighter aircraft near the town of Kupyansk, Kharkiv Oblast.
◽️ Nine HIMARS and Olha MBRLS rockets were intercepted by air defense assets during the day. In addition, seven Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed in the areas of Kotlyarovka (Kharkiv Region), Chervonopopovka, Holikovo (Luhansk People's Republic), Blagodatne, Kirillovka (Donetsk People's Republic), and Staraya Zburyevka (Kherson Region).

Comment: Sustained comparative reduced OP tempo over last 72hrs. Equivalent to average effort over Jan/Feb period. Current 72hr RF main effort concentrated & focused. Adviika double envelopment continues to develop.
Apparent AFU Air Defense Systems are now marginal/ineffective to non-extant, operationally & tactically on the battlefield & throughout Theater, other than limited Strategic, politically sensitive, Urban city centers.
Highly probable AFU no longer has adequate manpower, combat effective reserves, combat power & logistics train sufficient to successfully relieve Bahkmut or Adviika or forestall Adviika's envelopment, let alone succeed against numerically & combat power superior forces in prepared entrenched fortified multiple defensive lines, in depth, with RF mass uncommitted reserves forward deployed re a notional 'counter-offensive' re Zaporische region.
Exhaustion of remaining reserves & materiel in a failed 'counter-offensive' likely to trigger AFU structural/organizational collapse as a consequent result therefore through inability to continue to sustain & effectively resist, hold the Line, along the length of the FEBA.

Previous summary comments applicable, unchanged, here.

Note: An Army does not ultimately maintain & retain urban defense fortifications by relentlessly reinforcing forces inside an envelopment. It actually defends said works by deploying sufficient capable maneuver combat power to support & hold the flanks to prevent envelopment & where necessary counter-attacks to retrieve them to ensure security of MSRs.
AFU repeatedly demonstrates it lacks both the capacity & capability to do so.

⚔️Regarding the situation in Avdevka.

After the success at Krasnohorivka and Stepove, Russian Army, on the one hand, are probing the possibilities of advancing to Orlivka,Orlivka is the key , through which the main supply flows of the Avdeevka grouping go.

Probing the AFU defense in the south of Avdeevka can serve both the purposes of stretching the AFU defense, and an attempt to find a slack in the enemy's formation, as it was in Soledar, where "Wagner" was able to find such a vulnerability.
Heavy fighting to the northwest of Avdeevka in the area of Stepove is confirmed. Battle for the encirclement of Avdeevka keeps going..

#Russia_Sanctions: Moscow has just announced that it will abandon its participation (compliance) in the grain agreement on May 18 if the following conditions are not met:
1) reconnect Rosselhozbank to Swift;
2) resumption of agrotech exports to Russia;⤵️

3) remove restrictions on insurance and access to ports;
4) resumption of ammonia supply by pipeline from Tolyati to Odesa; and
5) unfreezing of all assets of Russian companies that produce or transport agri-food.⤵️

This ultimatum will most likely be ignored, raising the level of uncertainty about the Ukrainian grain supply. Russia again seeks to involve the UN to advocate for a solution.

More info for the overall picture, another Russian AO slowly coming to a boil along a 1,000 mile front..
⚡⚔️ Battle for #Avdeyevka - Situation until 14:00 on 19 Mar 2023⚡

After the Liberation of #Krasnogorovka, Russian units continued their offensive further westward with the task of bypassing the #Avdeyevka stronghold from the north. Over the past few days, control of the hill next to the railway line near #Petrovskoye has been established.
▪️ At the moment there are positional battles with the active use of artillery and attack aviation. Advancement further towards #Petrovskoye will make it possible to cut off #Avdeyevka's supply lines by rail.
▪️ The RF Armed Forces were also able to expand their zone of control west of #Vesyoloye, entrenching themselves in positions by the reservoirs and fully occupying the road to #Krasnogorovka.
To the South, Ukrainian formations attempted an offensive against Russian positions near #Vodyanoye and #Opytnoye. Fighting continued for several days, but the RF Armed Forces repulsed the attack and the assault troops of the 147th Battalion of the 116th Territorial Defence Brigade retreated to #Severnoye. The 116th Brigade's losses were seven killed, 14 wounded.
The Successes in the #Avdeyevka sector were made possible by the massive engagement of artillery together with aviation. Targeted high-precision shelling of rear facilities and ammunition depots resulted in significant damage to the enemy and provided a bridgehead for the offensive of ground forces.

Poland's Ambassador to France, Jan Emeryk Rościszewski, in an interview with LCI, a French TV channel, said a situation in the Ukraine conflict could arise in which Poland would have to enter the war.

Will Poland be thrown under the bus over the choosing to enter the war without being attacked, or will NATO come to their rescue?

Poland doing the attacking doesn't trigger Art. 5 does it?

The US take will be that by defending itself against Poland, Russia is attacking a NATO country. At some point, adults will emerge in NATO.

EXCLUSIVE: Orphan who survived Vietnam War plane crash that killed 80 babies makes emotional return to scene where he was found huddled with his twin sister

  • Landon and Lorie Carnie were on first flight of Operation Babylift in 1975
  • Vietnamese orphans and children were evacuated before the Fall of Saigon
  • Plane crashed in one of the worst humanitarian disasters of Vietnam War
  • 17-month-old twins thought to have died with 80 other babies and children
  • Taken to adoptive parents in U.S., where they grew up in Washington State
An orphan who survived a horrific plane crash that claimed the lives of nearly 80 babies and children 40 years ago has made an emotional return to the scene of one of the worst humanitarian disasters of the Vietnam War.

Landon Carnie and his twin sister Lorie were initially thought to have died with scores of other youngsters when the first flight of Operation Babylift – an evacuation of vulnerable Vietnamese orphans and children before the Fall of Saigon – crashed minutes after take-off.

Incredibly, with wreckage and bodies strewn over miles of countryside, the terrified 17-month-old twins were found huddled together in a rice paddy more than a day after the crash and later taken to their adoptive parents in the U.S. who had earlier been told they were dead.

Now 41, Landon has visited the crash scene and is thought to be the first child survivor to return to the countryside on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City where the C-5 military cargo plane crashed and broke up killing 78 children and 50 adults on April 4, 1975.

The tragic start to Operation Babylift – which eventually saw more than 3,000 vulnerable children evacuated to new lives overseas as Communist forces closed in on the southern capital – came as an explosion blew out the cargo doors as it climbed to 23,000 feet.

The crew wrestled to bring the plane under control and were returning to Tan Song Nhut air base in Saigon when it crashed and broke into four blazing pieces short of the runway.

There were 175 survivors.
