Ours has a 30' aisle on both sides that is the final clearance. Sometimes they mark clearance in place on the normal shelves then move it later to the main clearance aisle when the space is dedicated for something else.

Spalted Maple was 9.99 a board foot and that's pretty typical for that type of wood.

Sheesh! And I've got @ 600 board feet sitting in the machine shed... we've been sending it home with the sons every tine they drive a truck down!

Went to the local Safeway this morning as they had some stuff on sale I wanted.

Plenty of TP including some no-name brands. PT was practically nonexistent. Only one brand at high prices - I passed.

Canned beans and veg's still very low, so was rice and beans. Picked up more of the Pioneer Brand gravy mixes in various flavors, but I think I'll go out to the day old bread store (hopefully they are still there) because they have a wider selection at cheaper prices. I'll vacuum pack them after that. Still no Hollandaise sauce mixes (Knorr) so I may bite the bullet and order some off Amazon just to have.

Did see lots of no-name brands that I never heard of.

Baking aisle looked ok - but still no yeast! Eggs were on sale again, so were the pork tenderloin butt pieces (buy 1 get 2 free) so I got 2 eggs and filled my limit on the pork. Butter was on sale for $1.99, but they were out of salted so I got 2 unsalted for use during Christmas baking and making bread.

Produce was fairly decent for a change. Got an acorn squash to bake next weekend with sausage and maple syrup. Prices were definitely higher on bell peppers, but I want to make fajitas some time this next week so I went ahead and got 2 reds and 1 gold (reds were 2 for $3), gold was $2 each.

They "theoretically" had canning jars on at 35% off, but couldn't find any - I have plenty, was just curious.

Hate the way they cut their beef - unless you have it custom cut, it's so thin with no fat it's pretty worthless. Not buying beef right now because the 1/2 cow will arrive next month and I need to get the big chest freezer cleaned out to make room for it.

I'm seeing a lot of store brand canned goods (N MN). Not sure what's going on with the canneries, but seems like there's more out there. If you aren't a picky brand shopper now is the time to make hay. These are ingredients I use in soup, chili, hotdishes, pot pies, etc. all winter. The quality is just fine for winter cooking.

This week they even have no-bean chili and beef or corned beef hash in store-brand on sale. Never seen that before. Store brand veg are .66/can including green beans, corn, peas and black and red kidney beans. I know Walmart Great Value is a bit cheaper, but the annoyance of that place (even the outdoor pick-up) keeps me far away.

Anyway, I hate to nag, but am anticipating TPTB taking advantage of fall/winter as another excuse to tighten the lock-downs and quarantines - again messing up processors, packing and transport. Get it now.

I agree! And if you can afford it, do your Christmas shopping now, at least for the young children. I'm going to stock up on holiday baking supplies as they become available.

[Added: I sew and keep some felt, craft fur, stuffing, and child-safe craft eyes (have the post -- hard to pull out) for making stuffed animals. These are great as gifts year-around. I can whip up small ones in an hour or less.]

This is what we are anticipating as well, hence the reason we were happy that Aldi in Des Moines had no limits. Mind you we didn't buy cases and cases of food, but I did pick one or two extra cans of some of the things that have still limits here. I Iove my pinto beans and was so happy to get the extra cans of salmon yesterday!

Went to Aldi today in Lincoln Ne and was surprised there was a limit of toilet paper of 1, I forgot to look about paper towels. I needed canned dog and cat food and they had a limit of 4 of them. A few items I always buy weren’t there.

I hit the grocery store (Food Lion) a couple of times over the past few days. I was surprised at how much some things have gone up in price. I’m not sure if that’s because I have gotten used to Lidl prices or they have jumped that high or a combination of both.

Cleaning products still pretty depleted. Tp in stock but mainly brands I’d never heard of. No paper towels. Stock quite low in several things but shelves pulled closer so you couldn’t really tell.

I always get nervous when I see someone limiting pet food. Thanks for the warning. I ordered more cases on Chewy.

What is the current delivery time for Chewy? Are they still backlogged with orders taking 10-14 days? Or are they back to normal?

I, too, appreciate the pet food warnings. I'm waiting for a paycheck, but I'm adding to the cat food stash when I get it. In a pinch, she eats what I eat, but I try to keep her pantry stocked, too.

Central Indiana Kroger was jammed full of almost everything yesterday! Even toilet paper!
They still have limits on things like cleaning supplies but they even had good sales like chuck roast at 2.99$/ Lb.

I don't know if any of you know about San Francisco Herb Co. ? I've bought from them for years. You can buy by the pound. They have domestic or Spanish paprika for about 5$ @ lb. Looks like their inventory is down some but they have teas and all kinds of things.
Great company. For those in the Eastern part of the country, Atlantic Spice company is the Eastern branch of SF Herb. You can save on shipping time *and* costs by ordering from the source closest to you.

However, they don't always have the exact same stock, do if you can't find an item at one site, check the other. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but their prices are excellent and product quality has always been great, so that minor idiosyncrasy doesn't bother me.

I wonder if they were affected by the fires any? One of the herbal companies that gets mentioned here regularly, I think it's Rose Mountain Herbs, burnt to the ground in one of those huge fires out west last week.
