Canning supplies are both plentiful and reasonably priced in suburban a Memphis ($8.99 for a dozen pint sized regular or wide mouth jars, for example).

Most supplies ebb and flow. Lots of TP, paper towels, rice and beans, flour, etc at the moment. Even meat supplies are returning.

Holes appear on the shelves, but what product is missing differs from one time to the next.

Right now, Hormel hot tamales are no where to be found. Even Amazon does not have them.

We have had a major flea problem at our house. Went to 5 stores to get hertz flea shampoo and finally found some for 9.90 a bottle.
Bengal Flea spray works wonders. I had a terrible flea problem and my cousin told me for a couple of years and I finally got a can and it worked wonders. Haven't had fleas since.

An official in my country warned on Sunday that if you need anything now was the time to get it. They did not mention specifics but Gov Abbott has been making noise about closing again. California just closed. Seems like the second wave of closing is here, not sure about the virus

My HEB had many holes in the stock on the shelves. Standard things were gone like water and anything disinfectant. They stock did not have much depth either. The

There were established brands that were not existent maybe indicating a problem with the distributor or manufacturers

Wondercide is the best stuff ever. It can be put everywhere without harm - altho it does make my fountain a little foamy.

* Cans of SPAM are hit or miss. We only buy low sodium ones...and don't eat them often, but a long shelf life, and tasty.
* Gallon jugs of spring water are often gone in stores around me.
* Noticed FEWER brands of pop. That could be to the aluminum shortage.
* Rice is tough to find here...especially brands like CalRose.
* Plenty of pickles here. All the kinds you'd ever want in life.
* Tins of sardines are hard to find...the decent brands. Noting more junk from China like smoked oysters. I won't buy.

OTHER STUFF...
* Masks have become crazy expensive. a box of 50 cheap no-name brand(from china) is 18 dollars at Walmart.
* No bicycles to be found anywhere.
* TP is hit or miss in most stores where I am. I see a lot of off-brands now. No Northern in most places here.
* No Purel/main brand hand sanitizers to be found. Most only have off brands of hand sanitizer that I'm afraid to try, too.
* Isopropyl alcohol is hit or miss. One day you see a few bottles...the next day none.
* Painting supplies are hard to find at the big boxes. You'll go there and not find rollers. WOW! Plenty of paint, though.
* Impossible to find mechanics vinyl gloves.

I forgot to post when I went to Sam’s Club last week (VA). They had no frozen vegetables except for French fries and onion rings. They also didn’t have any spaces for them—i.e. they weren’t expecting any and had not just sold out.

They had just sold out of butter, and almost no eggs (in any quantity container) or milk.

What I am seeing here in S. CA desert is I have to shop Instacart at 3 or 4 different stores to get what I want. This is mostly food I use cooking day to day. Anything else I shop online. I find almost everything I look for but the prices are getting crazy especially if you dont get free shipping and you really have to look for some things. The items I see others on here not being able to access at their stores dont seem to be in short supply around here such as water.
The only thing I haven't been able to find are wet wipes by the case. I have used them for years and had 2 cases but now they are gone baby gone online.

From a pet food standpoint your walmart looks like mine here in N.Ga.

My dogs go through a 30lb bag of dry every 3 weeks plus a can of wet dog food or a can of tuna every day for added flavor. So I have been paying attention.

About a month ago things looked to be getting back to normal as I guess the initial panic rush had ended. Now it looks more like there are supply chain issues. I'm guessing with the meat packing plants on slowdown there is less waste ending up in the pet food markets.

As an example the purina one chicken in the 30lb bag is out of stock online at both chewy and walmart. Never see that before until recently and so it makes me a bit concerned. Thus I've been adding to their stash every month as I do not want hungry dogs.

Last trip to grocery store and special trip yesterday. It's Summer hot here, wanted some cold treats, popsicles. Very short supply here.
Bought box of Outshine fruit ones a few days ago, literally the last of a half dozen boxes of any flavor or style.
Went yesterday hoping to have a better selection. Nope.
Bought Italian ices, only a few of those left too. Also bought a pack of grape Outshine popsicles, three boxes left. Basically no standard popsicles or freeze pops, only the more gourmet style and a few options at that. Plenty of ice cream and candy style frozen novelties though.

She's afraid to go in person :shk:

Just got notified my Diet Coke is out of stock (cans). I'll ask when I get there if they have the bottles and get those instead. So heads up that could be a real issue. Only other out of stock was wipes. I order them every time in the off chance I catch them in stock.
My son video conferences with his counselor so they can see each other.

Just went to our local Kroger. 2 items that have been out of stock for several weeks were back(Delimex beef and cheese taquitos and the store brand crunchy jumbo shrimp)! Canned vegs were well stocked and prices the same as have been. Produce well stocked and prices stable. Plenty of soups. No Spam! Not even an empty slot for it anymore. Glad Spam doesn't agree with me and I don't stock it. Meat supply looked good except the one thing I had on my list - ground lamb. Darnit!

We had to do the same for the cats. They enjoy a specific brand over all others. Then Sams runs out of it for 6 weeks..... we learned our lesson (prepping is always a learning experience) and now have two months plus on the shelves all the time.

Spam is one of the disappointments I have. The wife hates it and literally will puke if she eats it. So no stocking any Spam.....

FYI, my hubs told me that he saw a post from a Kroger worker on Facebook that they will not give any change back. They'll accept exact change, but if you have to pay with cash and you don't have exact change, they'll give you the difference on a Kroger gift card.

Last night I ordered two 50# bags of dog food from Walmart, along with a few other things. It will take several days longer for the dog food to get here than the other items.

When I was in walmart Sunday morning the dog food was stocked, but there was no way I could pick up a 50# bag of dog food, so I decided to order it.

When the panic started back in March I determined what I would do if dog food got scarce. I bought extra rice to mix with it plus a couple of cases of canned to ration with it.

I'm so tired of all of this.

I give up.
That's a Pittsburgh, PA-area staple. We call it Haluski (halushski). I think it's a Polish dish, but most everyone around there has some kind of variation of it.

Well, my mother was born and raised in The Pit and is half Polish. I was born there too. I love Polish recipes, and she was good at it. Ukie recipes are awesome too. I remember my Ukie neighbor's mom making those little dough pies, either filled with mashed potatoes and fried in butter & onions; or the same recipe filled with cherries and dusted with confectioners sugar. I forget what they're called -- golumpki's maybe?

Perogies?

Neither here nor there.
I love beets, pickled or boiled (and served with corned beef!) . . . still working on the sauerkraut. I can manage two or three tablespoons before my tastebuds scream "Enough!" at me.

My personal preference is the Nathans sauerkraut, it's in the refrigerator section at HyVee by the hotdogs it doesn't have that bitter after taste, second favorite is Franks and you can get a two pack of that in jars at Sam's Club. The kraut in the jars tastes way better than the kraut in the cans.

Neither here nor there.
I love that cold kraut salad made with onion, bell pepper, pimento, oil and a bit of sugar. Makes a very refreshing summer slaw-type thing. Also, in the winter sometimes I'll get a craving for a sweet/sour dish and it fills the bill perfectly.

I think I need to make some this evening! I have a chuck roast I'm planning to cook for dinner, that kraut salad will complement it perfectly.

Perogies?

Could be. I know that term too, I just can't remember which is which. It's been a while.

You're right:

noun
noun: pierogi; plural noun: pierogies; noun: pirogi; plural noun: pirogies; noun: perogi; plural noun: perogies
  1. a small dough dumpling stuffed with a filling such as potato or cheese, typically served as a dish with onions or sour cream.

Oh, this is golumpki's - my mom's were so good:

Golumpki
(Gołąbki, Stuffed Cabbage)
Traditionally, a Golumpki recipe is a meat mixture such as ground beef, mixed with rice, onions, and spices that is then rolled in a cooked cabbage leaf. ... This Golumpki is simply a meat mixture that is rolled in cabbage, covered in a tomato sauce, and then baked to savory perfection.Apr 25, 2018

Certa Bonum Certamen
Report from College Station, TX... Last Saturday and earlier today..

Lately I've been placing online orders with Sams and Walmart for case good type stuff (canned chicken, tuna, salmon, soups, vegetables, etc.) I'd held off doing so because I wasn't sure if they'd arrive in good nick, but I've been very pleased with how they've been packed and the prices were very good, and the delivery time frame is good, too. DH and the young'un went on a Sam's run for perishable stuff on Saturday. This store is usually well stocked and it's rare when he comes back with items missing from the list. Saturday there was no butter, no pepperoni, no parchment paper (that's been gone for weeks now), no sandwich ham/turkey, no Member's Mark tp (and he said the tp sector was very thin)... what else... (?) ... there were a few other things on the list that were no where to be seen that I can't remember (and can't find the list). He said the stock of canned salmon and tuna was good, with no limits.

This morning I got to the polling place right after they opened at 7am (voting was light, this is a primary run-off between two R candidates to replace the current congresspuke who is stepping down). I was in and out in 10 minutes or so and headed over to the HEB near me. Lots of staff working and stocking shelves, wiping down carts, etc. LOTS of personal shoppers gathering up orders for either curbside pickup or home delivery... the manager said that sector of their business has really picked up, and it was very obvious it has. I got everything on my list except two things, but stupidly forgot to write down "BUTTER", so of course, I forgot to go down that aisle. I love grocery shopping (always have) and generally go down every aisle, but today the workers were busy putting up stock/picking stock for orders and I decided to skip it today.

The only things on my list I couldn't find were Old Bay seasoning and like Barry has mentioned, Hormel Tamales (yummy, not Keto friendly but nice to splurge now and then). Fresh meats (chicken, pork and beef) were in normal supply and the produce section was packed with lots of good looking stuff. Canned meats, soups, pasta, rice, etc. were well stocked, but there were some holes in the canned vegetable/fruit aisle, but no "limit X" signs posted and the cash register let my multiple purchases go through. Bread aisle was being stocked, but was pretty good as it was. Did not really look at most of the frozen section although ice cream and all kinds and sizes of frozen fruit was in plentiful supply. Didn't go down the cleaners/laundry products aisle, either.

On a bright note, GOYA products were really picked over, from their spice blends to their beans and other products! :)Hopefully that's a sign the locals are helping the 'BUYcot'. Hope so. Their products are usually well-stocked, so I think I might be right.

Another good thing I noticed was there was no appreciable price increases across the board that I could see. And, to a person, all of the staff were very friendly and helpful (but that's almost always the case for this store).

Nope - they are out too! I called to check before going there. Local Ace Hardware in Arvada told me they have been out for weeks and can't get any. I've been trying to find a couple for about a month now and have resisted ordering them from Amazon.

32 ounce spray bottle from Berlin Packaging.

Or Amazon
