I just checked shopgoodwill for pressure canners. There are a bunch listed as pressure cookers that I think are really pressure canners,, and the prices are amazing. Didn't look to see what the shipping would be.

It's a good site to keep an eye on. The shipping and handling can be a bit high, but that's a small price to pay to have the equipment you need. About a month or two ago I purchased a nice set of the blue speckled water bath canners along with a small roasting pan for a great price. They arrived quickly and were in good condition. I only had one and had been looking for a while for at least one more, but they went the way of the pressure canners.

Neither here nor there.
Walmart drove Huffy Bicycles made in Celina, OH out of business in 1998, along with the other Huffy plants in CA and MO - production went to China along with 900 jobs in a small town.

And the new factory that opened up in china was so happy to get 450 new jobs for their area. Twice the work at half the rate, and no EPA or OSHA to contend with.

Had to run to the grocery store this morning..the Diet Coke supply was getting down to critical levels, and weeeelllll...ice cream was calling.

Store looked fine for it being Monday after a major holiday. Sirloin tip steak and roasts on sale and well stocked at $3.99/lb. Lots of burger, lots of cheap pork, but don't need it. Canned goods...more canned peas! Grabbed butter, Gatorade, some frozen veg and salad makings. Paper supplies looked good, but no need. Same with baking stuff. I noticed they were really pushing the cases of bottled water...a couple of center aisle displays...probably because it's been so ungodly hot.

The danged garden has pretty much bolted itself to death or just shriveled up and died. When the dirt gets so hot in the daytime, no amount of watering will save things. It's been literally 99 degrees in the shade here for almost two weeks running.

I fall to pieces at the thought of no coke. I only have 55 cans on my porch. Less than a months supply.
I don’t drink soda so I haven’t looked into it but there are Soda Streams that have canisters that make carbonation and soda flavors. It seems like it would be easier and last longer to store canisters than cases of soda.

You know, I've had dishwashers a few times in my life. Very rarely used them, mostly because they took too long and were too loud. We have one in this apt that we haven't used even once since we've been here. It just seems to me that 5 or 10 minutes spent doing dishes for 2 people doesn't justify the annoyingness of a dish washer. What I'd RATHER have in the apt is a stackable washer/dryer like my friend has. She pays a lot more rent though. I don't like humping laundry over to the laundry rooms here. Blech.
I think if I had a dishwasher I would just use it as a dishdrainer. I've been washing dishes all my life and I don't even mind it really. At this point I don't know if I could ever get used to one.

The only time I had a dishwasher was when we stayed in an apartment for my out-of-town job. The apartmet complex manager would not disconnect it for me so I just severely warned my kids about it and then taped over the start switch. We used it to store all our oddball Tupperware that couldn't be stacked nicely to fit in the cabinets.

Ha!

We had an old portable dishwasher that I used to store odd Tupperware in.

I also used it as an ironing board, pastry/food prep area, work table....

Then we got a genuine kitchen island so we got rid of it. Kitchen island does all the stuff the nasty old dishwasher did(except.. dishes?)but looks a whole lot purtier.

i adapted quite easily and quite quickly. Actually, I am one of those fibro/autoimmune people and standing to wash dishes was giving me a lot of midback pain. My dishwasher has been a blessing.

Same but I have cut down since being at home. When in the office I didn't really "count" how many but now that I am home I monitor myself LOL
Yep...Diet Coke was my solace and strength at work, but now, at home, I drink more coffee and less Coke. Still...for some of us, it's the elixer of life/preferred caffeine delivery system. Substitutes won't do. If I couldn't get it, I'd drop carbonated drinks altogether.

Also, take a look on ebay. I got a heck of a deal last fall on a (barely) used, same model 50 YO Mirro that I'm used to using. A warped doggone lid finally got the better of me on Mom's old one...but I loved the size and the safety features.
Happy canner here. Set for another 50 years. :)
I got a brand new one on Ebay a few years back! For about 60 bucks

Ohio here also.... In April they were taking cc only at the garden center, but the following month they were back to accepting cash.

I've noticed recently, that the walmart super center I usually go to has discontinued the restricted entrance/exit set up, and I haven't seen any cart wiping lately

Last night an employee went looking for paper towels. Had to hit 3 stores to find any, and even that store was low.

Lots of TP, though.

The wife has begun to see this also. No change back from the package stores.

Clarksville, Arkansas is the location. I had to kill a few hours time while hubby was getting a kidney stone checked out. No shade and they would not let me in the hospital.

Atwoods Farm and Ranch was a good place to kill some time and stay cool. Lots more floor space open. There were less pallets in the main aisles. Also, several shelves had single buckets lined up as filler so they wouldn't be empty. Garden section had no garden dust, just liquid sprays. The livestock section had feed tubs lined across shelves to make them look full. The toy section was very low. Food section also low. No canning lids at all, but they did have some cases of jars. I wanted a couple of tshirts with cute farm sayings on them. There were none. Men's clothing still had a lot, but women's was a small section.

I also went to Dollar General. I did find Golden Harvest brand regular mouth canning lids. They had just the flats, or the flats with rings. No wide mouth lids. Canning jars were 4 or 6 packs only. No cases. I picked up a couple of toys to put away for the grandkids Christmas. The checkers smiled and said, You are spoiling grandbabies. I told her I was putting them away for Christmas because I was afraid toys would not be available by then. She said she had a rack of toys in the back left from last year. But they had not gotten any new toys in a long time.

My sister has a friend who is a teller at the local branch of a national bank. Her friend told her about 4 days ago that they no longer had any change to sell to businesses. She also said that one's and five's are next. Said to go ahead and break any large bills you have.

Locally, I hadn't run into any problems getting change when I pay cash, until yesterday. Saw the first sign at the Save-A-Lot. Haven't been anywhere else that had a sign like that, so they may be everywhere and I just don't know about it yet.

Of note, my sister is in panic mode. She talked to a LEO friend and apparently there is a lot more going on than the public is aware of. He told her to be prepared "for the worst." I hate when people tell you vague stuff like that. She is now freaked out and blowing through money like crazy. Ammo, food, shoes and anything else she can think of. She's already well stocked but is now determined to fill the spare bedroom with "supplies for the worst." Her husband told her to chill and said she can't go shopping again until next week. Her response is that her didn't say anything about online. Sigh... I asked her why she is doing this and she said she just feels like they need more. Looks like I will spend my day trying to talk her down.

I chalk it up to the Feds all being off-work/out of the office on full pay. Treasury Dept. in particular. The slugs have been sitting on my tax returns for the past 3 months and haven't even acknowledged their receipt yet.

Tells me all I need to know.

As to a currency shortage....good grief. It never cost anything to keep your change and roll it, keep small bills and band them, and put a stash away someplace handy. People have talked about it here for literally decades.

I mailed the IRS a check for my 2nd quarter estimated taxes (the one due July 15). Mailed it on June 30, the check cleared my bank on July 3. Faster than the normal USPS / IRS turnaround on these things.

You should be able to keep getting your diet coke, I believe it's in their top 30 brands.
I wasn't seeing my barq's root beer so I talked to a coca cola guy. shortage in aluminum cans.
So only top 30 brands are being made right now. which makes me wonder if that will be a problem as
well for canned food if there is a lack of cans for canning.

The nearest Home Depot had boxes of disposable face masks ($30) and boxes of washable face masks ($40) in stock, located in a display by the Customer Service Desk. Just a heads up if anyone is looking for some, you might want to check your local Home Depot.

Had a small instacart order from Vons this morning because I wanted horseradish cheddar. They had no limits on anything like eggs and even had paper towells. Had plenty of candy and were better stocked than usual.
Anybody's guess as to what's going on. They have lost the trust factor from me. You never know from one minute to the next if you will receive what you order.

I dont even know where to put this but as far as I'm concerned the dots have now come together and I'm preparing in earnest for Teotwawki. My bank had already shortened their hours to 5 PM closing and I was there just yesterday afternoon. Due to a screwups on a deposit I found today I needed to go in person to fix. I get there at 4:10 and there is a sign in the window they are now closing at 4. I know it doesn't sound like much but put together with everything else that has happened to me personally and what I've seen on here THIS IS IT AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED. I thought we had a lot more time but now I'm not so sure. Do the rest of you think I'm making too big of a deal of this?

If you think it's a big deal, it's a big deal. I'm an outsider and lack your context.

FYI, my credit union went to "drive thru" only and then cut their hours back to 9:00 - 3:00. Now the lobby is open by appointment only but they are still closing at 3:00. They used to be open from 8:30 - 5:00 on weekdays. When I asked about the new hours, the manager said they needed the extra time for "cleaning." From what I can tell, they laid off or furloughed a bunch of tellers, as they never have more than one teller on duty now. They used to have five, so I'll bet it's reduced hours because only two employees are in the office at a time, a teller and a loan officer or manager.

FWIW.

I give up.
Had to go to CVS again today. Surprise !! They have tons of hand sanitizer, from small to large, at reasonable prices. They also have disposable masks back by the Pharmacy for $2.00 each if you need one. We had gotten a box of them a couple of weeks ago, but those were out again today. And TP is back in stock again. Well, at least those areas are covered for now here in my corner of FL. I scored a big pack of Scott TP and the cashier gave it to us at the sale price because they forgot to take down the sale tag.
