Well shortages have finally hit central Nebraska. I usually order for delivery but had to go into town for supplies that can't be delivered every month. As of yesterday very few items on front of shelves. Huge gaps. What I don't understand is supply chain logistics. I have 5 in the family that do transport by tractor trailer. They are over the top busy? So I'm sorry this is a planned shortage. They easily could transport food. Yet NO REQUEST for food transport. Just nonessential supplies that fool dgi's are ordering. Anybody else with logistics that can give a different scenario?
You are assuming there is food available for them to haul...

Finally not a lurker!
Local grocery store has reinstituted buy one get two on chicken. They did it with small steaks and ribs a couple of weeks ago. Commissary was out of Dawn and most other dishwashing soap which I thought odd.

Walmart back down to one entry due to "spike in numbers". Getting us ready for act 2 I guess....sigh. Naturally you will have a spike when you dont test people and just count them because they have a symptom. What's next? More shortages, rationing, show your vaccination papers to enter....

Please do, but online just isn't the same. The therapist can't pick up on facial cues or body language without in person. Son is going to school to be a counselor so I have an inside line.

Praying for her to reach some understanding and level of acceptance.

She's afraid to go in person :shk:

Just got notified my Diet Coke is out of stock (cans). I'll ask when I get there if they have the bottles and get those instead. So heads up that could be a real issue. Only other out of stock was wipes. I order them every time in the off chance I catch them in stock.

Get the 2 liter ones.
Yes I'll get some somehow LOL

Also meant to say- I order my TP, paper towels, and toiletry type items online with Kroger. It used to be delivered next day. It is now taking a week. They are shipping from the NC location which makes me wonder if their Las Vegas location is running low. I checked the tracking on my previous orders and they came from LV but the last 2 come from NC

Neither here nor there.
I have ordered from Fillmore Containers several times. I highly recommend them. Orders have arrived quickly, and well packed.

Thanks, I ordered from Berlin Packaging last night, my lids should be here in about ten days. We've been canning more than usual this year, picking up cucumbers to pickle this afternoon, and I don't see it slowing down anytime soon.

We are beginning to see a few new shortages here in town. The coke dispensers are running out of canned coke. The local package stores are now offering fewer varieties and no specials like they used to do.

It’s actually harder to read ALL CAPS than standard mixed case.
ALL CAPS is hard enough on my eyes that I skip over and generally ignore messages written that way, much like I would messages with no punctuation, no formatting (wall of text), or where every word is misspelled. I probably miss out on some good information from time to time, but generally I found in the past it was not worth the headache trouble of trying to decode it.

Oh how I wish I had a dishwasher, but it doesn't seem to be in the cards. So I'll just continue to wash by hand. So much of my canning jar stash has been stored for years and really need scrubbing. But I'm blessed to have the jars.

I went to walmart a couple of days ago and there were many holes on the shelves, the canned food section was poorly stocked. Although there was no limit on what one could purchase. I added 10 cans of mandarin oranges to my cart, my favorite snack, and 4 cans each of other things that did not need replacing, just to add to what I already have.

One thing that I had not stocked up on was eye drops, the price has gone up everywhere and I was holding off. I bit the bullet today and ordered 4 tiny bottles from ebay at what seems a reasonable price. And a couple of days ago I ordered a pair of leather work gloves from walmart.com and if they work well I'll order a couple more. I have work gloves stashed somewhere, but of course I can't find them.

I just let my prime membership run out, I can always pick it up again if I really need something that does not have free shipping. Its just too easy to jump on there and order something that would be nice to have and not a need. Besides I'm no fan of Bezos.

For work/my business.... plastic sprayer tops are nearly impossible to get. Luckily I have enough of the larger sprayers for awhile but not the small ones. Every single supplier has a few month wait on them (I should be ok until November maybe. So far I can get any plastic bottles I need and ordered extra just in case.

locally Walmart today we did notice very little canned soda. We needed to pick up a case for a pot luck tomorrow but no cans of Dr Pepper :(

In case you missed it there's a shortage of the polymer that is used to make plastic bottles, hence no plastic bottles, hence no dish soap.

Which is also why I can't find spray bottles anywhere! WM was completely out, going to try the small Ace Hardware next.

Dang - the little things in life that we've all gotten used to.

Home now. I thought I would check Walgreens for Diet Coke but they had none. He said their last 3 orders have been cancelled. I did get 2 tubs of wipes though!! Went to 2 other Walgreens and no Diet Coke or Coke of any kind. The one I got from Smiths she gave me regular Coke! I kept it because I didn't want to go back and hassle the inside customer service desk.

Went to the Albertsons across the street from my Smith's and they had a pallet of Coke products and I scored 3 12 packs. The sign said 3/$13.98 which is a bit pricey. I got up to the cashier and they rang up $6.49 each with no discount. Well this turned into a huge production and because I didn't have the app on my phone that's why it didn't register. The manager gave them to me anyway and for 3/ $11.98.

I'll Just keep checking but I am good for a while. Even if I have to break down and drink the regular which I really don't care for. Maybe DD will drink it.

Just got to share this:

The other day our local TV station did a report by the CDC that stated the only product approved for disinfecting, things like counters was Lysol Spray.

So I threw my shoe at the TV and yelled you idiots, we know that. And there hasn't been any on the shelves for the last 3 months. And that's why there is no Lysol on the shelves, because we know that.

Big dummies telling us to use Lysol when there hasn't been any for 3 months. Thanks for keeping us to date, go get a real job. However they do tell us where to get tested, and where to get grab and go meals for the kids, but don't know anything, about anything else.

BTW no crime in Tupelo. No Lysol either.

Found coke at Costco this morning. I panicked when my other store was out so bought 2-35 can cases. To get what I needed had to shop at 2 stores. The shortages seem to be accelerating. Found bleach at Stater Bros and Laundry detergent

Do you have a Costco? I bought 2-35 can cases of coke on instacart this morning. Had to place orders at 2 different stores to get what I wanted.

This software has "autosave" on what you type. It saves every 30 seconds IIRC, and will keep it saved for 2 hours. (These are times that I set in the Admin Options when we activated the software.)

I don't give a care what the CDC says. Lysol spray is a joke unless you completely soak a surface, then let it air dry. Maybe. Sprayed in the air, an even bigger joke. The stuff is basically designed as an air freshener and nothing else.

For surfaces, use a bleach solution in a spray bottle, (again, you have to soak the surface!) or use a cloth/sponge to apply a liquid solution. A Lysol solution (the liquid product mixed in water) is probably a decent disinfectant, same as any of those other liquid household cleaners.

So today I went shopping at various grocery stores and a sporting goods store in our metro area. The grocery stores are pretty much OK. There is definitely a run on factory formed hamburger patties and pre-cooked chicken products. Walmart only had one kind of 100% beef, slightly lean left. There was a beef/soy mix burger. The last brand was a very, very lean beef. That's all they had. Frozen bags of uncooked chicken was fully stocked, but the pre-cooked chicken strips, nuggets, etc. were in short supply. There was plenty of canned meat though.

Walmart had one box of .22lr (50 rounds) in stock. I went to a sporting goods store and there is no basic range ammo, only the higher costs self-defense ammo. They did have about five 300 round boxes of .22lr in terms of bulk .22lr. They were around $23.00 each.

I'm a Pepsi addict and so far have not noticed any problem finding it. Even on sale price is up, but then it is for everything. My price point used to be 20¢ per can but that has gone up to 25¢ per can. Any higher and I will stop buying and go into withdrawal but I'll survive.

I have to wonder if canned food products are no longer available in the warehouses until the new crops come in. Or at least they are being rationed so as to last until the new crops come in. The shortages in a large part are because people are hoarding. Now, I have a good pantry and have had for many years. When I grocery shop, I'm buying to replace what I've used. Someone looking at my pantry might say I'm a hoarder but I'm not. I'm a prepper and have been for many years. I have not bought a huge amount of anything at one time rather have accumulated over many years. People without any food in the house when the pandemic started panicked and started hoarding which explains the shortages. Manufacturers and retail stores are used to producing/buying for regular usage based on years of inventory control so the rush of hoarders overwhelmed them. Add to this that many manufacturers closed due to positive tests on employees like the meat processing companies and you can understand the issues they're facing.

Complete strikeout on the last case lot order at the local market. Ordered five cases, different canned veggies and fruit, got zero. The market struck out on most of what they ordered as well.

Did get the 10 lb bag of anasazi beans I ordered from Pueblo Milling via UPS, looking forward to trying them soon. Threw in a shaker of bacon bean spice on the order too, something else to look forward to. DW scored a big bag of jasmine rice yesterday at wallyworld too, I will ask her to look for more on her next trip.

Went to suburban Memphis WalMart today. I was in a rush, so I didn’t have time for sightseeing.

What I did see:

NO Lysol or Clorox cleaners. NO Lysol room spray.

Only hand sanitizer was that thin alcohol stuff without any aloe Vera. Hate that cheap yet overpriced stuff, so I passed on it.

The toilet paper supply was adequate. Some of all the major brands. Paper towel area had lots of holes, but there was still a limited supply of product on the shelves. This was about noontime. They will be out by 1 pm.

They had adequate supplies of beans and rice, including my beloved favorite - Camilla brand dry red beans from New Orleans. Regular price too. No price gouging.

There were a lot of holes on the shelves in the canned goods area, but there was adequate amounts of most selections they normally carry, with no price gouging.

One thing I could NOT find — not just at WalMart, but at any food store recently - is Hormel canned tamales. I love those things. But they disappeared off the face of the earth about 3 weeks ago. You cannot buy Hormel canned tamales anywhere right now.

They had lots of bottled water. I don’t drink soda, and I was in a rush, so I did not look over in the soda aisle to see if there were any shortages there.

There is a mask ordinance in Memphis now, and most everybody had one on.

But I saw one older couple without a mask, and I did not see any Kens or Karen’s bothering them.

A large local food chain, Food Giant, had assorted sliced pork chops on sale for $1.29 per pound.

Excellent quality for factory farmed pork. I bought about 8 pounds of the assorted chops.

I fix the meals around here with my wife undergoing chemo. Tonight’s dinner will be grilled pork chops with applesauce and grilled, sliced summer squash (from my garden).

Dang - the little things in life that we've all gotten used to.

I scored two bottles of dishwasher soap, so I should be good until at least the end of September, picked up a new can of Comet, some cleaning sponges, and a bottle Zep lime, scum, mildew remover for the shower. So we should be good on cleaners for awhile. I had the sense to pick up a new shower curtain back in February when all of this started.

Got more ammo at the farm store today, along with a plethora of items for canning... no canning lime to be found anywhere in my area, and that was two major farm stores and the local grocery stores.

Saw lots of holes for items that come in a plastic bottle in the cleaning aisle, etc. Saw some holes in the soda pop aisle as well, again it was the pop that's in plastic bottles. Same thing with plastic cups, plates, forks, plastic baggies, cling wrap, etc., looks like my red solo cups are going to be valuable here and real soon.

I ran into the local Kroger this afternoon, after a doc appointment, to pick up a couple things to make a fruit salad desert to take to a friend's BBQ tomorrow. The few things I needed were all well stocked and reasonably priced. What I noticed was that the store was mobbed and most of the customers had overflowing carts. I have no idea if this is the next wave of panic buying or if it's a normal Friday afternoon(payday?) happening. Whatever, I sure won't be changing my normal early morning shopping routine to afternoons.

Ok, if there is an aluminum can shortage, and a shortage of the polymer to make plastic bottles (which is the reason I've been told there is a distilled water shortage), what are they going to put beverages in? Are we going back to glass?
If a bottling plant was built to use cans and plastic bottles only, adding a glass blowing line is a nontrivial exercise.

So interesting...I just put in a grocery order to pick up tomorrow at 11am, at a local small town Walmart. this is the first time I have done this. I have shopped here off and on for years up to 4 months back. Haven't been in a lg grocery store since then. When I went to "order" they informed me they were out of this and that, of which I had only bought a couple cans of each food I ordered, mostly small cans of veggies, canned foods, sugar, meats, etc. I said NO to substitutions. They were out of so much that my $250 bill dropped to $140.! That store must have really empty shelves.
