I give up.
I have so much shampoo I could not order any for 2 years probably but just checked. First picture is the cost when I ordered it in May. What it is now and not from the same supplier- they were out of stock. Doubled in price

I LOVE Pantene, but don't buy it unless it's on sale at CVS or I have a money coupon. Mostly I buy VO-5 and one other well-known brand that's always $1/bottle. Works just as well, but doesn't smell like Pantene.

Hmmmm wonder if these are the pop top cans?
You know, I hate the idea of those cans, but I've got to say, 8ve never had one go bad. I had some canned peaches and pears from 2014 we ate them up finally last fall, and the cans were still sealed perfectly.

I'd be really concerned about them holding up under rough handling or being dropped, but if you buy undamaged cans, they should last as long as the old type.

Decided to make a night time grocery trip due to the talk here at tb2k and to see what's happening there at night now that they're open until 11pm.

First off, there were a lot of Asians shopping and it was a bit unsettling hearing them all singsong on their phones about grocery shopping. Don't know if they were talking to people at home about the grocery list or if they were doing research. Maybe they were stocking up.

Bagged fresh broccoli crowns still in short supply. Recent times only a few bags or no bags. No organic carrots or celery. Still got some conventional. Tons of avocados.

The store had a lot of empty spots. More than last time. Pasta, got my Barilla stuffed cheese pastas, but not a lot of choices compared to usual. Lightly stocked shelves and missing stuff. Chicken bone broth in the box, bought 3 and left 4. Plenty of standard broth and stock. Bread and rolls, empty spaces, got my bread, but again only a few on shelf.

Dairy, had to search for plain cottage cheese, bought 2 smaller containers, realized when I got home one was fat free, bummer. All kinds of cottage cheese if you wanted chive or other flavors.

Broke down and decided to treat myself to some sweet snacks, ice cream novelties, and I had a coupon. More holes and sparsely stocked, stuff pulled forward, other stuff had to look way in the back. Got my italian ices, watermelon and strawberry. Also grabbed some chocolate dipped coconut ice cream bars; they skimp on the chocolate covering now.

Check spices, actually more stocked than the last time I looked, but this isn't quite as upscale a store so not so many scratch cooks. Got another thing of onion and garlic powders just to stay ahead.

Had reach deep for a can of corned beef hash.

Glad I went, but I'm not left with a good feeling. I'm thinking back to grocery shopping 2 years ago. Used to be fun, a good experience. Now, even with the masks and arrows gone, it doesn't feel at all back to normal.

Forgot to get chocolate.

I'm set there: plenty of shampoo bars and coconut oil! LOL!

I'm good on shampoo and conditioner, too. I have long, straight, fine hair. Whenever I use up a bottle, I replace with a bottle. I guess I need to add even more to my stock while I can. My hair dresser told me a few years ago that you could wash your hair in plain soap. It was the conditioner that made the difference.

Cleaned out my refrigerator this morning and did a huge order from Stater Bros. I needed to replace a lot of things like salad dressing and such. Found all items on list except bread and buns. Did find my bread at another store so put in a smaller order there. The guy that did it was slower than the 2nd coming. At least the larger order went fast.
The only thing missing on the smaller order was organic potato chips. They had all the Lean Cuisine for a change.
So won't be doing this for awhile. The only canned item I had was spinach and they had it. Bread seems to be the problem here in the high desert.

I have a ton of Suave and VO5 as well but I like Pantene. I've never been told I have smelly hair LOL :p:p

Since I have slightly oily hair, I use Suave Daily Clarifying shampoo. I've tried a lot of different brands, but this works well for me. It's for oily hair. Also, I have used ECOS plant based dish wash on my hair for shampoo. That works great for those who have oily hair, without stripping it. It's really gentle on hands and hair. I buy the grapefruit scented, LOL. Dawn dishwash works good, too. I like having alternatives to alternatives.

Well, I just had an eye opening experience at Walgreens. I only go there if there's something I need in the ad or they have a good coupon. They had a buy 2 get $3 off on Bic office items. I wanted to get some white out tape. A pack of 2 was $3 so essentially I would get one free. Nope. Had none. In fact their school supplies were not out yet and their office supply section was practically empty. There was a lady there putting some stuff out and she said I don't know when we will get our next truck. I see a recurring theme here....

I walked around a bit- cleaning section maybe 50% empty (or full depending on how you want to see it), snacks and food items only maybe 50% full- some less, refrigerated items including ice cream only maybe 25% full. School starts next month and they didn't have anything out. The same lady said they have a truckload but not enough people to unload it (another recurring theme).

I have super oily hair, and since I've always worked outside it stayed wet most of the day. By mid-summer, my head just feels like it's full of gunk. I use baking soda with a white vinegar rinse. My hair is nice and soft afterward and feels much better.

I'm doing "fill in the holes" shopping today, those little odds and ends like extra blades for my rug and box cutters.

I can't afford to get everything I might need, but I sat down last night and went over the house projects that I will realistically finish between now and Thanksgiving and inventoried those supplies. Some of these projects I can do, even if there is no power. This is why I keep a set of hand tools.

Yup, Suave is the other one. Couldn't think of it at the moment. Well, the thing is -- yes, those have different fragrances too, and most of them are nice, but they just don't smell like Pantene, which is the prettiest of them all.

Stock up on spices, folks. Local stores have ZERO garlic or onion powder in ANY brand. I went to Amazon to get some, and others are reporting shortages nationwide.

If you can find it locally, it would be wise to put some in your preps.
[/QUOOz.]
Most of the granulated garlic (which I buy by the pound) seems to be from China, even Azure Standard & Frontier. I finally bought Kirkland California garlic from Azure. (They also have minced.) That was last month, though....I should go check...

Well, I paid $11.45 on June 24 for 18 oz.; it's now $12.97.

At Smith's in NE NV today, water was in short supply, still no canning lids, ramen section looked pretty sorry, and there were a few empty sections of the canned goods. Scored 6 1-lb packages of 90/10 organic hamburger for $1.99, so I was happy about that. There are no limits on anything, at least nothing was posted. And there weren't any signs about the so-called coin shortage, but the cashiers were back to putting any change the customer was supposed to receive on the store rewards card.

Went back for a couple of Lindt 70% chocolate bars, green peppers, and frozen diced potatos I forgot yesterday.
Store was quite well stocked between overnight and late morning today. Maybe they mainly stock on Thursdays for the weekend. There were even steaks on sale.

Neither here nor there.

You could open both of them and take some from each container at meal time and mix them together, I've been known to do this only with whole fat and low fat greek yogurt. then throw garden fresh tomatoes or peaches on top and enjoy.

That surprises you somehow? :p

I’ve had to go to Amazon more and more often as the months have gone by. Local stores are out of things I want.
Had reach deep for a can of corned beef hash.
I just ordered 12 cans of Hormel sausage hash. If you’ve never heard of it,I’m not surprised. It’s the best of all the different kinds.

I went to the local H-E-B for a semi-major shop. I have to do that when I run out of many things at roughly the same time. I went to checkout with not even half a cart full. Normally, what I got would’ve cost just over $100. Yesterday however, it was $175!!! Absolutely unreal. And there are more and more holes on the shelves. Not good at all.

I believe it. :strs:

It's surreal for me to remember back to when I was first married (the ancient Egypt days, ;)), going to the grocery store for a full or semi-major shop averaged out to be right at $10 per stuffed brown paper grocery bag. That included meat, chicken, eggs, etc; produce; spices; canned goods; laundry/household cleaners and paper products; dairy; maybe throw in a treat or a women's magazine while standing in the checkout, etc. - in other words, shopping the whole store. A big family pack of ground chuck that I'd divide into one or two pound packages - 29¢ a pound (and it was on sale frequently for that price). That $10/bag was a fairly consistent average for quite some time, too. I'd walk out of the store with four or five bags and that would last us a good while.

That was how I figured it, too! But then prices started climbing fast, and I learned how to raise almost everything. Can't imagine what our food bill would have been with 4 teens!

I can imagine. Had 7 sons. I vow they would have eaten the drywall if they could find catsup to put on it!

Went to Dollar Tree yesterday. I was able to get onion powder, garlic powder, and garlic salt.

I'm checking out the 99cent store this weekend and always grab spices while there. We have a Dollar Tree close by but it is SO trashy. I went in there one time and said never again. It was dark, dirty, and stuff was all over the place. Gross

I was so thankful that I had only daughters, as I'd seen what my five brothers had done to Mom's fridge and pantry; they were like a plague of locusts. THEN my daughters reached their teens! It looked like the locusts were back!

Saw a lady looking for canning lids at our local WM. She was asking a worker where they were. She just looked stupefied that they weren't there. (Canning aisle had vinegar, pickling salt and little else.) I told her they were hard to find, but sometimes Ace has some. She said she'd already checked there. I don't know how she could not be aware of canning supplies shortage if she's a canner. I went to our Ace and they had Pur quart size lids, $4/12. A ridiculous price. I would sooner buy new jars with the lids. Sams today looked well stocked, but when you looked behind the front items it was empty. I am concerned about possible meat shortages. So I'm going to try canning some which I've never done. The freezer will only hold so much...
