LAURA INGRAHAM: Regular working people are growing increasingly fed up with establishment politicians

Ingraham highlights the shift in voter priorities around the world

Laura Ingraham discussed how voters across the world have begun rejecting establishment politicians and how Italy's first female prime minister was elected on "The Ingraham Angle."

LAURA INGRAHAM: There's other big changes in the air as well. And it could tell us a lot about how things will play out here in the November midterms.
It turns out that regular working people are growing increasingly fed up with establishment politicians, not just here, but abroad as well. So Italy's new prime minister, Giorgio Meloni, is a first. And she's the first woman ever to be elected prime minister there. Now, you think about it. Our press is usually over the moon when the first is a liberal woman or a minority or gay, but not in this case.

Now, three things the media despise God, fathers and the nuclear family. I mean, this is just ridiculous. If any group today comes close to Mussolini and his brutal, infamous use of big business and big government together, it's the modern left. Nice try, kids. Of course, the reason this first in Italy does not count is because she doesn't play their globalist game. She refuses to. She hasn't been bought off. Instead, she calls out the failures of the majority parties and refuses to submit to their woke crusade against national identity and national culture.

PROOF people around the WORLD are WAKING UP to the far left

Glenn Beck Published September 26, 2022

Everybody can feel that something is wrong, Glenn says. And that’s not just in regard to American voters. No, people EVERYWHERE are beginning to wake up and realize that far-left, elite politicians in governments around the WORLD (and their partnerships with large corporations) are a danger to freedom, to democracy, and to our republic. In this video, Glenn proves these feelings aren’t just American. Watch to see Italy’s new Prime Minister speak passionately about the very same sentiment, three years ago, in a POWERFUL speech…

New York Times: We Should Criminalize Speech Like Germany

September 26, 2022 by Daniel Greenfield

The New York Times has been running an extended crusade for some years now to dispense with freedom of speech. It’s run op-eds arguing that speech is violence, that the First Amendment has been misunderstood… and that we should be more like Germany.

The story starts with this incident

When the police pounded the door before dawn at a home in northwest Germany, a bleary-eyed young man in his boxer shorts answered. The officers asked for his father, who was at work.

They told him that his 51-year-old father was accused of violating laws against online hate speech, insults and misinformation. He had shared an image on Facebook with an inflammatory statement about immigration falsely attributed to a German politician. “Just because someone rapes, robs or is a serious criminal is not a reason for deportation,” the fake remark said.

The police then scoured the home for about 30 minutes, seizing a laptop and tablet as evidence, prosecutors said.

It’s hard to imagine a worse test case for censorship. But the New York Times decided to lead with someone sharing a sarcastic quote on Facebook mocking pro-migrant politicians.

Clearly, the Times would like to see this in America.

Hate speech, extremism, misogyny and misinformation are well-known byproducts of the internet. But the people behind the most toxic online behavior typically avoid any personal major real-world consequences. Most Western democracies like the United States have avoided policing the internet because of free speech rights, leaving a sea of slurs, targeted harassment and tweets telling public figures they’d be better off dead. At most, Facebook, YouTube or Twitter remove a post or suspend their account.

But over the past several years, Germany has forged another path, criminally prosecuting people for online hate speech.

Germany is known for forging another path. That said, most European countries will prosecute some kinds of speech and none have free speech. The police can come to your door in the UK and any number of European countries. Germany does this on a larger scale.

In doing so, they have flipped inside out what, to American ears, it means to protect free speech. The authorities in Germany argue that they are encouraging and defending free speech by providing a space where people can share opinions without fear of being attacked or abused.

This is the same “Censorship is Freedom” argument being used by Google, Facebook and the Left.

What’s really telling are the examples in the article.

And it was that post that eventually led to the raid of that 51-year-old father’s house in northwest Germany. The father, whose name was not shared by authorities because of Germany’s strict privacy laws, is still under investigation in Lower Saxony as police examine the contents of his devices. Even if he did not know the comment attributed to Ms. Bause was fake, he still faces punishment because “the accused bears the risk of spreading a false quote without checking it,” prosecutors said.

So basically penalizing opponents of a leftist politician.

Swen Weiland, a software developer turned internet hate speech investigator, is in charge of unmasking people behind anonymous accounts. He hunts for clues about where a person lives and works, and connections to friends and family. After an unknown Twitter user compared Covid restrictions to the Holocaust, he used an online registry of licensed architects to help identify the culprit as a middle-aged woman.

“I try to find out what they do in their normal life,” Mr. Weiland said. “If I find where they live or their relatives then I can get the real person. The internet does not forget.”

It’s safe to say that woman was not a fan of the Nazis.

Last year, Christian Endt, a journalist in Berlin whose coverage of Covid drew a steady stream of insults online, reached a breaking point. After an anonymous Twitter user had called him “stupid” and mentally ill, he embarked on a mission to see if he could get the person prosecuted.

The person’s account did not include a real name, but it had a photo on the profile page. That allowed Mr. Endt to perform an image search to see where else on the internet the image could be found. It led him to a LinkedIn page of a small-business owner. From there, he found the individual’s company website, phone number and home address.

Mr. Endt compiled his finding in a memo and sent it to the local district attorney. In December, the case landed with the online hate unit in Lower Saxony, where the culprit lived. After reviewing the evidence, they sent the man a fine worth about €1,000.

Again, criticism of government COVID policies.

Last year, Andy Grote, a city senator responsible for public safety and the police in Hamburg, broke the local social distancing rules — which he was in charge of enforcing — by hosting a small election party in a downtown bar.

After Mr. Grote later made remarks admonishing others for hosting parties during the pandemic, a Twitter user wrote: “Du bist so 1 Pimmel” (“You are such a penis”).

Three months later, six police officers raided the house of the man who had posted the insult, looking for his electronic devices. The incident caused an uproar.

None of the incidents profiled involve any kind of Nazi association. This is about the government suppressing its own political opposition under the guise of fighting hate speech. The complaints seem to largely involve politicians, activists and media figures.

It’s not hard to see why the media in this country thinks we should be more like Germany.

Hindus and Muslims Violently Clash in Great Britain

By Micky Wootten | September 26, 2022 | 4:41pm EDT

(CNS News) – Since last month’s cricket match between Pakistan and India, mobs of Muslims and Hindus have engaged in violent clashes in cities throughout the United Kingdom, causing community leaders to call for peace between the two groups.

On Aug. 28, during an Asia Cup 2022 cricket match, India defeated Pakistan in the first of many potential meetups between the two nations during the tournament.

India and Pakistan have had a long-standing bitter rivalry on and off the cricket field. As the New York Times has reported, these cricket matches between the two nations “draw on deeper reservoirs, issues of national identity that are wrapped into the fortunes of the competing cricket teams.”

Reports of clashes between Muslims and Hindus in the British city of Leicester on Aug. 28 led to several arrests over the course of a few days, according to Leicester police.

.23 min

Following weeks of scattered incidents throughout the city of Leicester, a crowd of around 200 Hindu men marched through the city on Saturday, Sept. 17, including in areas made up of mostly Muslim-owned businesses.

Some of the men were reportedly shouting “Jai Shri Ram,” which is described as a “war cry for far-right Hindus in India.” The phrase translates to “Hail Lord Ram.”

Young Muslim men came out in response to the march, leading to many scuffles in Leicester on both Saturday and Sunday. During the unrest, a local Hindu Temple was vandalized and a Hindu flag was removed and burned by a mob of Muslims. Leicester police arrested 47 individuals on charges such as “possession of offensive weapons or firearms, violent disorder and making threats to kill.”

Leaders from the Jame Mosque and the Iskcon Hindu temple in Leicester joined one another in calling for peace amid the violence that has been taking place. In a joint statement, the Muslim and Hindu community leaders in Leicester emphasized to their followers that the “two faiths have lived harmoniously in the wonderful city for over half a century.”

On Sept. 19, the Indian High Commission released a statement of condemnation of “the vandalisation of premises and symbols of Hindu religion.”

This prompted a response from Zara Mohammed, Secretary General of Muslim Council of Britain, which criticized the Indian High Commission’s failure to condemn both sides of the conflict in an open letter released on Sept. 20:
“Whilst it is right that we condemn the desecration of Hindu symbols, you must represent all Indians and also condemn the deliberate targeting, intimidation and instances of assault of Muslims and Sikhs by large groups of thugs chanting far-right Hindutva slogans, mirroring tactics used by the RSS communities of India. There is a clear hesitancy to call out these groups who have instigated this thuggery and their political ideology, which they seem to be attempting to import for India.”

“Hindutva,” which translates to “Hindu-ness,” refers to a political ideology with roots in British colonial rule in India. According to the Hindutva App website, which is a phone application created by supporters of the ideology, Hindutva “advocates for Hindu supremacy,” and is “based on the belief that Hindus are the true natives of India.”

Hindutva has been gaining popularity in India since the 1990s as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) amassed political power with its Hindu nationalist platforms. Many paint Hindutva’s emergence as a response to “the increasing assertiveness of Muslims and other minority groups in India.” Critics of the ideology accuse Hindutva of having “fascist and exclusionary tendencies.”

Recent expressions of Hindutva among British Hindus have raised concern among Muslims and other non-Hindutva supporters across the UK. Fahim Kayani, who is described as a leader in the British Muslim community, said that “what the Hindutva goons have done in the UK is a replica of what India is doing in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and with Muslims in India.”

“This mindset is bred in RSS labs in India from where these goons go to Kashmir to persecute Muslim population and have now spread across the world,” Kayani said of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which is the paramilitary arm of the BJP.

Sweden-based Indian professor Ashok Swain took to Twitter to blame the Leicester violence on the rise of Hindutva in India. “Hindu supremacists have changed India and Hindus living abroad,” wrote Swain.

Swain also advocated for the loss of protection from the host country, which in this case would be Great Britain, for “any diaspora group celebrating the home country’s regime.”

1664268539960.png

The Mayor of Leicester, Sir Peter Soulsby, told The Telegraph that he blames social media for enflaming tensions between the two communities that he insists generally coexist in peace with one another:

“I’ve seen quite a selection of the social media stuff which is very, very, very distorting now and some of it just completely lying about what had been happening between different communities. I have talked to a lot of community leaders and they are doing what they can to bring Leicester to normal because in Leicester, normal is very good relations between people of different faiths.”

According to the city’s website, “Leicester proudly holds the title of being one of the most multicultural cities in the UK.”

“In 2011, the city was the first in the UK where the majority of residents identified as non-white British,” the city’s website states.

The conflict between the two groups spread beyond the city limits of Leicester. On Tuesday, Sept. 20, around 200 Muslims surrounded the Durga Bhawan Hindu Centre in the British town of Smethwick.

Videos taken at the temple show men dressed in black, many of them wearing hoods and masks, chanting slogans.

When the local police tried to prevent the crowd from advancing towards the Hindu temple, many started to climb over the temple’s fence in defiance of law enforcement.

Some have blamed the country’s mass immigration policies for the rise of ethnic-conflicts between minority groups in the United Kingdom. Former British Prime Minister Nigel Farrage tweeted the following in response to the violence in Leicester over the weekend:

“Virtually every single MP in Westminster is responsible for the ethnic and religious violence seen in Leicester.

Wind Turbines in Norway Being Ripped Apart – Because of Too Much Wind

By Craig Bannister | September 26, 2022 | 1:52pm EDT

Parts are flying off of wind turbines in Northern Norway – because they can’t withstand the winds – and the Norwegian Water and Energy Directorate (NVE) is threatening to shut down a wind farm, if the problem isn’t fixed by October 10.

At a Sortland, Norway wind farm, “Strong winds and falling ice have caused the cover, panels and other parts to fall to the ground,” Life in Norway reports. “Noor Nooraddin, the general manager of the wind farm, blamed high wind speeds, saying wind turbines struggle to withstand such conditions.”

"NVE has received information from Ånstadblåheia vindpark regarding falling objects. We have also received similar reports from the local community," Norwegian Water and Energy Directorate Section Head Anne-Johanne Kråkenes, told FOX Business.

NVE has given formal notice that it takes the problem seriously and will make good on its threat to close the wind farm, if the problem isn’t fixed by the October 10 deadline, Norway Today reports:

“The Directorate demands that the problems at the wind power plant be resolved by mid-October. Otherwise, the plant will be closed. Section manager Anne Johanne Kråkenes told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) that the NVE takes the situation seriously.”

Twenty technicians are currently working to repair the damage and strengthen the wind turbines by the deadline. But, as Life in Norway notes:

“Many locals wouldn’t be disappointed to see its closure.”

Ironic wind turbine calamities in Scandinavia aren’t exclusive to Norway, however.

As CNSNews.com reported in July, a wind turbine in Sweden collapsed and citizens were warned to stay away, because it was leaking the very substance it was supposed to obsolete – oil – astonishing Swedish journalists.

“Depending on its size, a wind turbine gearbox needs an oil quantity between 200 (53 gallons) and 800 L (211 gallons), according to a peer-review article published by MDPI, titled “Monitoring the Oil of Wind-Turbine Gearboxes: Main Degradation Indicators and Detection Methods.”

Patricia Pitsel, Ph.D., Principal at Pitsel & Associates Ltd. estimates that the typical wind farm requires about 12,000 gallons of oil

Wind turbine accidents, like the one in Sweden on Saturday, are not uncommon, windAction reports:

“The Swedish incident comes after the collapse of a Nordex N149 in Germany in October 2021.

“Sweden is the home of some of the largest wind projects in Europe, many of them using the most powerful new turbines on the market.

“The country has seen several accidents at new projects, including the collapse of a Vestas V150 and a blade failure on a 5.3MW-158 GE Cypress.”

BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: Clinton Foundation Auditor Sanctioned – Numerous Material Issues Including the Clinton Foundation and Its Auditor Ignoring $483 Million Error

Arkansas Sanctions Clinton Foundation’s Auditor in Landmark Case

Guest post by Bob Bishop

The Clinton Foundation is America’s largest unprosecuted racketeering and charity fraud case. Investigations of the Clinton Foundation, shelved by the corrupt and partisan DOJ, FBI, and IRS leadership, demonstrate a two-tier justice system with exemptions for the political elite.

The only remaining pathway for due process was petitioning the Arkansas State Board of Public Accountancy to enforce AICPA professional standards against the Foundation’s former national audit firm BKD, LLP (BKD has since merged with another national firm forming Forvis, LLP).

BKD issued slapdash audits and tax returns (under penalties of perjury) for 13 years. By dismissing AICPA professional standards and IRS compliance, the firm created a veneer of legitimacy for the Clinton Foundation. BKD’s main fiduciary obligation is to serve and protect public interest, not the Clinton Foundation.

I filed a complaint with the Arkansas Board against BKD, LLP. The complaint (59 allegations), relying on public documents, charged BKD with professional misconduct and failure to comply with the following AICPA standards and the IRS Code. The complaint’s primary focus is the Clinton Foundation’s 2011 amended IRS Form 990 tax return dated November 16, 2015, and the underlying 2011 audited financial statements.

The firm filed a condescending and indefensible response dismissing the allegations and smearing me as a “conspiracy theorist.” The reply crossed a bright-line including a veiled threat of AICPA disciplinary action against me. BKD’s Chief Operating Officer Eric Hansen served at the time as the AICPA Chairman.

1664269252790.png

Rampant Irregularities

The complaint covered substantial irregularities and documented a culture of deceit, with the more flagrant irregularities abstracted below.

Trustee Oversight & Control Failures

The Foundation’s Board of Trustees engaged Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, LLP, to review its “decadal” (Or is it decadent?) governance. Their report was issued in late December 2011. WikiLeaks released the draft document widely covered in media outlets. The governance review found severe organizational and internal control weaknesses jeopardizing the Foundation’s tax-exempt status. Why did BKD ignore the flashing warning signals?

Material Errors and Omissions in 990 Tax Returns

Hillary Clinton’s 2016 Presidential run caused the Foundation to evaluate, amend, and refile its tax filings for 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 on November 16, 2015. The justification was to disclose foreign government grants and the Clintons’ paid speeches on behalf of the Foundation because the few lines on the returns were previously left blank. Foundation President Dr. Donna Shalala’s issued a logic-defying press release that the Foundation exceeded all legal tax requirements and “that the errors did not require us to amend our returns.” The accounting fees for 2015 were a staggering $2.7 million suggest otherwise.

I compared the original returns line-by-line to the amended returns. The reconciliations found extensive and material revisions of over 200 items each year. Substantial changes occurred in the reporting categories in the Balance Sheet, Statement of Functional Expenses, and Revenue Statement. These changes required the Foundation to reissue the consolidated financial statements or compulsory for BKD to rescind its audit opinions; however, neither happened. The Foundation routinely restated its financial statements; for instance, the reissuance of 2010 due to offsetting marginal errors of just 2.2% of revenue and expense.

“Attorneys and accountants should be the pillars of our system of taxation, not the architects of its circumvention” – Former IRS Commissioner Mark Everson

BKD Prepared and Audited Foundation’s Financial Statements

The Foundation’s Management Representation Letter included a disclosure that BKD prepared the financial statements. BDK violated independence, integrity, and objectivity ethical standards by compiling and auditing the Foundation’s financial statements.

Clinton-Foundation-Letter.jpg

Massive Accounting Errors

The Foundation’s agreement with the World Health Organization’s Unitaid was to purchase reduced-priced medicines as an agent. The Foundation’s Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) subsidiary negotiated for reduced-priced drugs with Unitaid advancing funds to CHAI to pay for the purchases shipped overseas by pharmaceutical companies.

Accounting principles required the funds to be held in an escrow account; however, CHAI booked the Unitaid advances as charity revenue and payments as program expenses. CHAI replaced BKD in 2012 with Meyers Hoffman McCann P.C.. Meyers firm corrected the flagrant accounting error for 2011 by restating CHAI’s financial statements and tax return. BKD ignored the restatement when it compiled and audited the 2011 and 2012 consolidated financial statements.

The accounting error from 2006 through 2011 totaled a whopping $483 million overstatement of revenue and expense.
The Foundation and BKD never disclosed the monumental blunder, which grossly overstated its consolidated charitable activities and possibly concealed the diversion of funds.

Gross Overstatement of Library’s Construction Cost

The reported historical construction cost of the Clinton Library is $171.3 million or $1,332 per gross square foot. The Library cost is scandalously high when compared to equivalent high-quality Little Rock commercial buildings.

The Heifer International and Arkansas Study Institute construction cost per gross square foot is $198 and $238, respectively, a flashing warning sign of possible construction fraud.

Failure to Audit Clinton Global Initiative

The Clintons have resurrected the disreputable Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) six-year hiatus. Last week it held an annual conference in New York City coinciding with the UN General Assembly. Vampires require a host.

Bill-Clinton-Larry-Flint.jpg

According to the 1023 Application for Recognition of Exemption Under Section 501(c)(3), BKD advised CGI “in complying with relevant laws, regulations, and standards.” It failed to audit the pay-for-play subsidiary that made up over 20% of the consolidated revenue. Numerous states, including Arkansas, required CGI to be audited.

Failed the IRS Dual Test for Tax-Exemption

The Dual Test requires that a nonprofit be organized and operated according to its charter. The Foundation was organized exclusively as a Presidential Library, but exploded into numerous unrelated activities, including operating in foreign countries, deviating from its Articles of Incorporation purpose. The Foundation failed the Dual Test as a tax-exempt organization that would make it subject to Federal and state taxation.

Article-iii-of-Clinton-Foundation-Letter.jpg

Arkansas Consent Order

BKD signed the Arkansas State Board of Public Accountancy Consent Order acknowledging that it failed to “exercise due professional care in the performance of professional services,” and that a licensee who performs auditing, review, compilation, management consulting, tax or other professional services shall comply with professional standards as defined in Board Rule 8.2.”

BKD also acknowledged it was first licensed with Arkansas in 2003, meaning it operated unlawfully for more than two years while providing services to the Clinton Foundation.

Kudos to the Arkansas Accountancy State Board for pursuing and disciplining BKD, but the firm’s acknowledgment without severe penalties is insufficient. Ethically, BKD should have pulled its audit opinions.

Lack of IRS Nonprofit Oversight

The probability of a nonprofit being audited by the IRS is .1%.
The trivial audit rate is due to the lack of the IRS resources to enforce the nonprofit tax code, creating a haven for fraud and graft. It places an extraordinary burden on the CPA profession to ensure client tax code compliance and protect the public’s interest.

CPA Profession Needs Adequate Funds and Regulatory Overhaul

State accounting boards’ limited staff and budgets
(typically around one to three million dollars annually) are hamstrung to discipline national and global accounting firms. Deloitte, for example, has annual revenues of over $50 billion, which can buy the best legal defense.

The CPA profession desperately needs an overhaul of the regulatory apparatus to address high-profile cases involving large firms and nonprofits with political affiliations. The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy should expand its authority to handle these cases.

Charles Ortel: The Clinton Foundation is a Massive Fraud

Rachael L. McIntosh

March 15, 2017 Charles Ortel talks frankly with ShadowCitizen hosts, Rachael L. McIntosh and Rob Ossell, about what he has uncovered regarding The Clinton Foundation. It wasn't millions, it wasn't billions, it was closer to a trillion dollars moving through the Clinton family via unprosecuted charity fraud. Ortell gives names, dates and places in this interview and has released his findings on his website, www.charlesortel.com. Since February 2015, Mr. Ortel has been digging into the Clinton Foundation’s public records, federal and state-level tax filings, and donor disclosures, including records from the foundation’s many offshoots—including the Clinton Health Access Initiative and the Clinton Global Initiative—as well as its foreign subsidiaries. He has found that the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation has a number of irregularities in its tax records and alleges that “The Clinton Foundation is the largest unprosecuted charity fraud ever attempted”. For instance, The Clinton Foundation received $140 million in grants and pledges in 2013 but spent just $9 million on direct aid. He calls it “Commercegate on steroids”. Mr. Ortel graduated from Horace Mann School, Yale College and Harvard Business School. He is on the staff of The Washington Times. Mr. Ortel has appeared in print, radio and television media with increasing frequency. Brass Tacks, his radio show, attempts to offer nonpartisan perspective on factors contributing to the unresolved, burgeoning financial crisis and discusses potential solutions.

Breaking Update; Nord Stream 1 Pipeline from Russia Loses All Pressure after Nord Stream 2 Pipeline Lost All Pressure Earlier Today – May Have Been Targeted Attack

By Jim Hoft
Published September 26, 2022 at 9:22pm

In 2018 during his speech to the UN General Assembly President Donald Trump lodged a warning to Germany about their country’s reliance on Russian energy.

The German delegation laughed on camera at the remarks.

Now Germany’s economy is tanking and Russia is in complete control of its energy as winter approaches.

On Monday Russia’s Norstream 2 Pipeline from Russia to Germany lost all pressure from 300 to 7 bars.

The cause is unknown.

German citizens are facing a very cold winter ahead.

Now this…

Via Disclose TV – Following the pressure drop in Nord Stream 2, a pressure drop has now also been recorded in both lines of Nord Stream 1, the operator says.

German officials are suggesting the pressure drops may have been a targeted attack.

TaggesSpiegel reported:

The Nord Stream pipelines may have been damaged by targeted attacks and leaked as a result.

After a drastic pressure loss occurred in one of the two lines of Nord Stream 2 during the night on Monday and a leak was found in Danish territorial waters, a spokesman for the double pipeline Nord Stream 1 also reported a “severe pressure drop” on Monday evening ‘ recorded on both lines. The situation is now being investigated.

Research into the causes has been initiated in both cases, and the security authorities at the federal level have taken on the cases. “Forensic results” cannot be expected within a short time, since the seabed has to be reached.

However, the worst is expected due to the timing, the three lines affected and the severe pressure losses in Nord Stream 1, which also indicate a large leak.

“We can’t imagine a scenario that isn’t a targeted attack,” said a person familiar with the federal and federal government’s assessment. It went on to say: “Everything speaks against a coincidence.”

Once Again, Joe Biden Blames Gas Station Owners for His Record Gas Prices (VIDEO)

By Jim Hoft
Published September 26, 2022 at 7:43pm

As Gateway Pundit reported recently — the Biden administration announced a new plan to reduce domestic oil production, this time preventing new offshore oil drilling projects in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

The Department of Interior announced part of its process to implement a new five-year plan for offshore oil drilling. The plan could allow a maximum of 11 oil lease sales for offshore drilling, ten in the Gulf of Mexico and one in the Cook Inlet off the south-central Alaska coast over the next five years. The plan eliminates any new production from both the Atlantic and Pacific regions.

That explains the record high gas prices under Joe Biden and the Democrat Party.

Gas prices today are at $3.73 cents a gallon, much higher than they were when Joe Biden took over but lower than his record-high gas prices of over $5 a gallon.

gas-price.jpg

But that didn’t stop Joe Biden from blaming gas stations for his record gas prices.

Joe Biden: “To the company running gas stations setting prices at the pump, bring down the price on the price you pay (mumbling)… Do it now!”

In July, Joe Biden lectured gas station owners and blamed them for the record gas prices at the pump.

Gas has been hovering around $5.00 per gallon for the last two months.

These all-time record highs are over a dollar more expensive than during any previous administration.

Joe is blaming the gas station owners for the historic prices.

He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He just wants Americans to blame the small business owner who runs the gas station.

Here is an interesting graphic on the cost of gas at the pump. Someone should get this to the White House.

gas-costs-taxes-diesel.jpg

And in June Joe Biden cheered the record inflation and increasing costs as a good thing. Joe Biden argued it will usher in “renewable energy, electric vehicles.”

Horowitz: What is strategically missing from the GOP ‘Commitment to America’

OP-ED
DANIEL HOROWITZ
September 26, 2022

The recent “Commitment to America” document released by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is beautifully written … to achieve the GOP’s interminable goal. Republicans seek to indulge the broad talking points of their base in a general, shallow, and superficial manner – just enough to appear as if they are on their side without, of course, actually committing to anything transformational that offends their donors and puppet masters. On that score, the document was a home run. Otherwise, not so much.

There’s nothing offensive in what is actually written in the document itself or its supporting messaging, and most conservatives would find themselves nodding along in agreement while reading it. However, when you consider what is omitted from the document, it quickly becomes clear that even what is in the text is a vacuous platitude that will never be followed through on with ironclad commitments to see the outcomes of those policies to fruition.

In order to ascertain whether the GOP is really committed to the right solutions and policy ideas, one first needs to glean from the preamble of the party’s plan whether Republicans fully understand the ailment that plagues our government. But from reading the document, one gets the impression that this could have been written in the 1980s or in any other era. “We have a recession and a bad economy with inflation, along with too much crime. We need pro-growth policies that empower small businesses, and we love the police and want you to feel safe.”

OK, that’s not exactly what they wrote, but that is the takeaway. As if this is all within the realm of normal, we’ve experienced this morass before, and we have the same solutions as yesteryear, albeit peppered with a couple of unique buzz phrases of the time, like “investigate China,” “big tech censorship,” and men in female sports.

There is no recognition whatsoever that this is the Fourth Reich, the economic collapse is not by accident, and that we have suffered through the greatest tyranny and civilization destruction of all time. That is to say, the biggest omission from this document is COVID fascism. It’s as if the past two and a half years never occurred. There was no throwaway line even nodding toward banning all mandates, much less reviewing the genocide of gain-of-function research, dangerous vaccines, ending the PREP Act and immunity for pharma, and making sure this can never happen again. There was no recognition that the inflation is a result of the policies from COVID, which the GOP collaborated with. There is also no acknowledgement that the energy crisis is not just about inflation, but about building on the COVID lockdowns and social control to impose an equivalent scenario with energy and food.

How do they describe the past two years?

Unfortunately, over the past two years, Democrats in Washington have led America off-track. They created crisis after crisis: from crippling inflation and rampant crime, to failing schools, border chaos, and disrespect for our nation across the globe.

Notice COVID fascism – the issue of the century – is not even mentioned. The persecution of Americans for their political beliefs is not mentioned anywhere other than some throwaway line about the “politicization” of the DOJ. They mention female sports, but never the grooming of children into transgenderism, castration in the hospitals, mixed bathrooms, and the broader licentious cultural rotgut. They talk about school choice and a parent bill of rights, but never mention the 800-pound gorilla of critical race theory and certainly never mention a patient bill of rights to deal with the hospital genocide.

I think we all understand why the Republicans omitted those issues, at least anyone familiar with their thinking and sensibilities. However, that also sheds a negative light on the issues they did mention, such as crime and illegal immigration. While it’s hard to disagree with anything they did write on those issues, given that the GOP was on the other side of those two issues last decade (and if you look carefully, they still are), their rhetoric doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. We all know that without 60 votes in the Senate and the presidency, the GOP’s only avenue to effect change on those issues is to call upon state Republicans to implement those policies and to fight for them in the budget funding bills, both of which are never mentioned anywhere on the website. The words “power of the purse” are never uttered.

Even as it relates to big tech, they don’t frame the issue properly. Government is working together with all corporations to create an apartheid to box out political opponents from life, liberty, and property up until and including barring people from organ transplants for not getting the shots, and blocking free speech of doctors who oppose COVID fascism. Instead, they limit and trivialize the problem by distilling it to examples such as, “70% of Republican campaign emails go to spam on Google Mail, compared to just 10% of Democrat campaign emails.”

The document and supporting presentations are very heavy on promoting energy production, but they never pledge to roll back existing green energy mandates that Republicans have supported and continue to support. They somehow think that oil and gas production can coexist with climate fascism, just like they somehow think personal freedom can live harmoniously with the big pharma vaccine agenda they still support.

They focus a lot on funding the police and even hiring 200,000 more officers (isn’t that a state issue?), but they fail to understand the main issue is the de-incarceration agenda, liberal judges, and weak sentences. Absent reforming that agenda, which the GOP has signed on to for years, hiring more cops will continue to result in catch-and-release.

They focus heavily on drugs and fentanyl as a bridge between crime and the border, but again, it was Republicans who pushed the largest de-incarceration bill in history that released heavy-hitting federal drug traffickers from prison.

The plan is replete with mentions of holding China accountable, but Republicans are helping fund China’s “thousand talents” program with over 350K Chinese students a year and foreign workers from China and India who help drain our supply chains and have promoted China’s and India’s brain gain. Their dogmatic and categorical support for all forms of “legal immigration” is a complete mockery. McConnell is promoting unqualified and unconditional legal immigration more than ever.

For the military, the document simply states, “Support our troops, invest in an efficient, effective military,” and the supporting material refers to growing our Navy and rails against the Afghan pullout. But there is no recognition of the social engineering, climate change fascism, critical race theory, and transgenderizing plaguing the military, nor is there reference to the lack of a clear strategic mission of the military or the treatment of our troops during COVID that is still ongoing. It’s all about throwing more money at the woke and broke military, just like throwing more money at police without addressing the key policies.

Here is a screenshot of this one-page document:

img.png

It is understandable that Republicans would desire to keep it simple with a postcard of talking points. But at the same time, they should have backed it up with another document full of legislative ideas explaining exactly what they plan to pass in the first 100 days and how they plan to stand behind those ideas in the budget bills and, when appropriate, have Republican legislatures adopt them in the states. The 1994 Contract with America was also relatively short, but it has a list of very specific policies and commitments for the first 100 days.

For years, Republicans never uttered a word about illegal immigration. Now that the issue is perhaps irremediably broken, it’s finally not taboo to mention it in broad talking points. Always a day late and a dollar short. Yet when it comes to the new issues, such as vaccines, medical freedom, grooming, January 6, critical race theory, the deep state, etc. they won’t even offer broad platitudes.

Republicans are akin to a man finding a murderous robber leaving his house with a bloody knife after killing his family, and rather than running to avenge the blood, proceeds to rage against the robber stepping on his garden on the way out. Historically, what they do is help Democrats induce a problem by agreeing to the premise. Then, while still quietly agreeing to the premise and even helping the policy continue, they rail against some of the most extreme manifestations of yesterday’s policy before an election in order to create some perceived distance between the parties. It’s a vicious cycle that moves the Overton window inexorably in one direction.

This is why Republicans still believe in the pharma COVID agenda, that we need more legal immigration, that we have an over-incarceration problem, and that climate change is a problem on some level, yet they will rail against some of the more extreme lengths to which Democrats pursue those agendas.

This is why observing what the Republicans omit from their criticism and from their forward-looking plans is so important. They have declined to promise legislation banning a single odious action of the COVID regime from the past 2.5 years. That is simply astounding. It would be akin to Republicans having run the 2010 elections without mentioning Obamacare.

Perhaps in four to six years from now, Republicans will finally discuss COVID fascism in the way they finally discuss illegal immigration now that we are confronted with an issue that somehow overshadows today’s calamities in magnitude. May God help us all if this is the opposition we have.

Germany’s Energy Crunch is Pushing Volkswagen Away

Germany’s automobile industry is perhaps one of the largest drivers of its economy. In fact, the German automotive industry is one of the largest employers in the world, providing jobs to about 860,000 people. The industry represents 5% of the German GDP, and in 2021, it produced over 15.6 million vehicles. Fifteen of the world's 75 top automotive suppliers are German companies. Around the world, German companies have carved a name for themselves for their expertise in producing quality luxury vehicles. Now, the core strength of the German economy is crumbling, as car manufacturers find themselves in the middle of a painful energy crisis. And that has led Europe’s largest automobile manufacturer – Volkswagen to think of shifting production out of eastern Europe.

‘Democracy’ by and for the Elites

Tocqueville predicted that an ‘immense and tutelary power’ would replace genuine popular rule.

Emily B. Finley
Updated Sept. 25, 2022 3:02 pm ET

President Biden’s Sept. 1 speech in Philadelphia on “unity” is a poignant example of the confusion surrounding the concept of democracy. Mr. Biden declared that MAGA Republicans threaten “the very foundations of our republic.” The phrase a “threat to American democracy” is so commonplace these days that it hardly carries any meaning—except that it encapsulates the reigning ideology of our time, an ideology so pervasive that it almost goes unnoticed. It is like the air we breathe.

A portrait of Thomas Jefferson by Rembrandt Peale, 1805.

I call it democratism. It is an imaginative and idealistic understanding of popular rule that disdains ordinary people and looks to a cadre of so-called experts to operate the levers of power. Under this ideology, “democracy” and “the people” are rhetorical cover for the will of the elites. Think of social media’s censorship of misinformation in the name of “supporting democracy” and “upholding free expression.” How is it that censorship passes as upholding free expression?

“War is peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength” from Orwell’s “1984” comes to mind, but there is a long tradition in the West of this paradoxical interpretation of democracy. Enlightenment-era thinking, and arguably even Plato, puts forth the thought that an ahistorical ideal of justice ought to act as the primary guide to politics. Jean-Jacques Rousseau applied this idea in “The Social Contract.” The general will, Rousseau says, is what the popular will ought to be, even if it isn’t expressed by actual living people. The general will conveniently requires the translation of a wise legislator for its instantiation.

Many of the most vocal champions of democracy, from Thomas Jefferson to our own day, have been advocates of this Rousseauean inversion, using the word “democracy” as justification for what would otherwise be naked authoritarianism.

Woodrow Wilson

Jefferson is known for criticizing the Constitution on grounds that it wasn’t democratic enough and that a national government was a threat to liberty.

This sounds democratic on its face, but a closer look reveals that he coupled celebration of the everyman to a belief that an enlightened aristocracy should be leading the people away from their more conservative social and religious instincts and toward a new age, free of old superstitions and backward ways.

“The briar and bramble can never become the vine and olive,” Jefferson wrote in 1822. That isn’t wrong, but neither is it democratic. Jefferson derided his opponent John Adams as a “monocrat” and Adams’s administration a “reign of witches,” in large part because he believed that Adams was not sufficiently democratic.

Woodrow Wilson is another example of a democratist. Remembered as an archdemocrat, he advocated some of the most undemocratic measures in American history. He set precedents that until recently would have struck most Americans as violations of the First Amendment. By now, however, many on the left would look at the Sedition Act of 1918—which made it illegal “by word or act” to “oppose the cause of the United States”—as reasonable given Wilson’s promise to make the world safe for democracy. The related Espionage Act of 1917, which directed the postmaster general to censor news and publications critical of the World War I, is a precursor of President Biden’s ill-fated Disinformation Board and his administration's collusion with Twitter and Facebook to censor dissent about Covid.

Barack Obama’s 2011 “We Can’t Wait” initiative was a descendant of Wilson’s politics by administrative fiat. We “can’t wait for an increasingly dysfunctional Congress to do its job,” Mr. Obama declared. “Where they won’t act, I will.” His desire to take the reins from the people’s elected representatives, doubtless “in the name of the people,” is yet another example of the paradoxical effect of democratism: Let me be the people’s proper representative, the democratist says.

President-elect Barack Obama poses for an official portrait in Washington, Jan. 13, 2009.

The word “democracy” no longer indicates much about popular rule. The word now merely refers to a hypothetical goal that gives those who invoke its holy name a mandate to do just about anything—even the opposite of what the people desire.

America is still breathing the musket fumes of 1776, and words that play to the imagination of America’s founding—“freedom,” “democracy,” “free speech”—are sources of enormous power for the apparatchiks warring, pillaging and censoring on behalf of those values. These abstract words help to maintain the facade of self-government.

Alexis de Tocqueville predicted that eventually an “immense and tutelary power” would replace genuine popular rule in America. The people would accept their tutelage, he says, because of their belief that they “themselves hold the end of the chain.” The soft despots today will undoubtedly continue to use the democratic lexicon even as they transform the fiber of the republic.

What better way to pre-empt the opposition than simply to declare it “a threat to our democracy”?

Czech Elections Show Steady Rise Of Right-Wing Parties & Populists As Economy Sours

MONDAY, SEP 26, 2022 - 11:00 PM
Authored by John Cody via Remix News,

In this year’s municipal elections in the Czech Republic held over the weekend, Czechs backed populist and right-wing parties as the center-right government saw voters turn away due to a souring economy and growing cost-of-living crisis.

The populist ANO party, which is led by former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, came in first in eight of 13 regional capitals, but it fell short of gaining control of the two largest cities, Prague and Brno. Babiš, considered a close ally of Hungarian Prime Minister VIktor Orbán, narrowly lost Czech national elections in 2021, and the latest results indicate that his party is clawing back voters.

In addition, the right-wing Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) party led by Tomio Okamura made substantial gains in larger cities in the country, with the party’s aggressive stance against Russian sanctions, which many Czechs blame for soaring energy inflation, resonating with voters. Okamura’s party tripled its number of municipal representatives from 161 to 492, and secured its first-ever representatives in Prague. Polling also places the SPD as the second most popular in Czechia right now.

Czechs elections are complex and complicated for outside observers to understand, but when it comes to municipal elections, most political analysts are looking at the results of the biggest cities in the country, where ANO and SPD outperformed. However, the country’s oldest parties, such as the Christian and Democratic Union–Czechoslovak People’s Party (KDU-ČSL) and the Civic Democratic Party (ODS) are the most entrenched in smaller towns and rural areas, where they have campaign offices and local representatives who have long served in their positions. This may be one factor why despite losing many of the cities, KDU-ČSL still won the most representatives from any party, just like four years ago, although by a smaller share.

The second finisher was the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), and the third was the Mayors and Independents (STAN). Compared to the results in 2018, the Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD), Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM), and Mayors and Independents (STAN) saw a significant drop in their number of representative seats. The other parties of the government coalition also lost seats, while the opposition movements Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) and ANO improved.

Babiš also celebrated his party’s results in Prague where his party got the second most votes.
“It is a success because we lost the general election in 2021 mainly in Prague where we had some 14 percent,” said Babiš describing the 19.34 percent his party received in the city.
However, as usual, independent candidates and their various local associations won the municipal elections overall. According to data, they won 3,367 more representative seats than four years ago.

A third of Czech Senate seats were also up for grabs, but the results of those elections are less clear. Of the 27 senate seats up for grabs, only three were decided in the first round. Next weekend, the rest will be decided. However, ANO already won one extra seat, and the party is headed to the second round in 17 districts. Given that only a third of senate seats are up for grabs, it means that there is no way the current ruling coalition is under threat of losing power following next weekend’s election results.

According to the final results published by the election website on Sunday, 46.07 percent of voters participated in the municipal elections. That is roughly one percentage point less than in 2018.

The most significant drop affected the left

ČSSD lost almost three-fifths of its representatives. KSČM fared even worse, losing almost 70 percent of its representative mandates. STAN recorded a drop of 747 seats in councils, ODS lost 306, Pirates lost 84, and TOP 09 lost 56.

The SPD movement has improved by 331 mandates since the last election, and the ANO movement won 64 more representatives.

The ANO movement won in most major cities. Just like four years ago, they won in 17 out of 27 statutory cities, including eight out of 13 regional capitals. In the last municipal elections, ANO was in first place in 11 regional capitals.

KDU-ČSL won first place among the parties even though they lost 393 seats in the councils. They won 3,252 of them this year.

According to data from the Czech Statistical Office, 195,214 candidates sought 61,796 representative mandates. The average age of elected representatives is 47.6 years, while the oldest representative is 88 years old. Eleven representatives who were 18 years old won a seat. Among the elected representatives, 71 percent are men, and 29 percent are women.

The UK Is Reviewing Its Net-Zero Strategy In A Bid To Ensure Energy Security

TUESDAY, SEP 27, 2022 - 02:00 AM
Authored by Tsvetana Paraskova via OilPrice.com,

The UK government on Monday launched a review of the steps the country has laid out to take in reaching its legally-binding 2050 net-zero emissions target while increasing energy security and affordability at the same time.

The independent review, to be chaired by former energy minister Chris Skidmore, aims to ensure that the delivery of the legally-binding climate goal - which, the government stressed, remains in place - is “pro-growth and pro-business,” the new government headed by Liz Truss said today.

Considering the soaring energy prices burdening UK households and businesses, the government now looks to review the approach to net-zero emissions “to better understand the impact of the different ways to deliver its net zero pathway on the UK public and economy and maximise economic opportunities of the transition.”

The three-month review should be ready by the end of 2022.

“The government remains committed to reaching our net zero emissions targets, but with Russia weaponising energy across Europe we must make sure we do so in a way that increases energy security and does not place undue burdens on businesses or consumers,” Secretary of State for Business and Energy, Jacob Rees Mogg, said in a statement.

The new government in the UK has recently taken steps to maximize the potential for domestic oil and gas production to lessen import dependence.
Last week, the government formally lifted the moratorium on shale gas extraction in England in a bid to increase domestic energy production as pledged by Prime Minister Truss earlier this month.

The UK government also confirmed its support for a new oil and gas licensing round in the North Sea, expected to lead to more than 100 new licenses.

“To get there we will need to explore all avenues available to us through solar, wind, oil and gas production - so it’s right that we’ve lifted the pause to realise any potential sources of domestic gas,” Business and Energy Secretary Rees-Mogg said last week, referring to the lifting of the pause on shale gas extraction in England.

By JENNA HOFFMAN AND JIM WIESEMEYER September 27, 2022

More than four in 10 American have high blood pressure, which is directly correlated to the leading causes of death for Americans: heart disease and stroke. That’s according to new research from National Center for Health Statistics.

To reduce such diet-related diseases and end hunger by 2030, President Biden on Tuesday announced a package, National Strategy on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health, that he says creates a “pathway” to:

• Free school meals for all students
• Expand Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
• Develop front-of-package nutrition labels
• Implement a Medicare test of “food as medicine”

More News to Come

The 44-page strategy was released ahead of Wednesday’s White House hunger conference where Biden and USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack, among others, will speak.

According to the White House release, the national strategy will focus on five primary pillars:
1. Improve food access and affordability
2. Integrate nutrition and health
3. Empower all consumers to make and have access to healthy choices
4. Support physical activity for all
5. Enhance nutrition and food security research

Some of the White House proposals will require congressional action, such as expanding school nutrition programs. Others can be undertaken at the agency level, such as FDA development of front-of-package labels and guidelines to reduce sodium and, potentially, added sugars in foods.

However, the Biden administration says the federal government cannot meet this 2030 goal alone.

In the strategy outline, the White House called upon the private sector to also implement the five pillars.

How This Announcement Will Impact Ag

Some ways this health legislation might be implemented on your operation come in the form of:
• A congressional push for $15 per hour minimum wage
• New policies that increase worker power and rights to bargain, including, “workers who grow, produce, and process our food…”
• EPA and USDA’s yet to be announced “whole-of government” strategy for reducing food loss and waste.
• USDA NIFA’s research to determine the “links between human health and soil health” from a soil management practice standpoint.

The Biden administration says this strategy was developed based on “robust” stakeholder engagement through web forums and listening sessions, which were open to agriculture groups.

But this isn’t the first strategy to address health and hunger.

A Page from History Books

The National Strategy on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health comes more than 50 years after the White House hosted an event on food insecurity.

The last food insecurity conference at the White House was in the Nixon administration. The 1969 hunger conference and its many recommendations influenced U.S. nutrition policy for the rest of the century.

Key accomplishments include expansion of the food stamp and school lunch programs, authorization of WIC and creation of the dietary guidelines for Americans.

“The last conference was a critical moment in our history, and I have no doubt we’ll look back on this year’s conference with the same historic lens,” Vilsack says.

White House to Host First Hunger, Nutrition and Health Address in More Than 50 Years
By JIM WIESEMEYER September 25, 2022

President Joe Biden will deliver remarks Wednesday at the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health, which will be held at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.

“Too many families don’t know where they’re going to get their next meal,” Biden said in a video announcing the conference," said Biden. “Too many empty chairs around the kitchen table because a loved one was taken by heart disease, diabetes or other diet-oriented diseases, which are some of the leading causes of death in our country.”

Millions of Dollars to Host the Event

Rep. James McGovern (D-Mass.), chairman of the House Rules Committee, led an effort to get the White House to host the conference and pushed for $2.5 million to be allocated in a government funding package to host the event.

But this isn't the first hunger event to be hosted at the White House.

Your Next Meal

The last time the White House hosted a conference focused on food insecurity was more than 50 years ago, when President Richard Nixon hosted the White House Conference on Food, Nutrition and Health in 1969. That confab led to expansions of the food stamp program and the school lunch program, creation of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, and improved nutrition labeling.

Conference speakers include President Joe Biden, White House Domestic Policy Adviser Susan Rice, USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and Chef Jose Andres.

Susan Rice, prefaced the event in a statement saying “no one should have to wonder where their next meal will come from.”
Details on the event can be found here.

White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health – It is almost here!

Posted by Stacy Dean, Deputy Undersecretary for Food, Nutrition,
Sep 06, 2022
White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health logo

It’s official! The White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health will be on September 28th – the first of its kind in over 50 years.
The first conference in 1969 had a pivotal impact on our agency. Just a few months ahead of the conference, Food and Nutrition Service, or FNS, was established to administer federal nutrition assistance programs. The 1969 conference also led to:
  • Significant expansion of the National School Lunch Program and the Food Stamp Program (known today as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP),
  • Permanent authorization of the School Breakfast Program,
  • Launch of a pilot program that would later become the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), and
  • The first ever Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
Over the last 50 years, our federal nutrition assistance programs have grown to serve about one in four Americans each year. However, tens of millions of Americans, including children, experience food insecurity, and millions more suffer from diet-related diseases and disparities. These disparities are largely rooted in structural barriers which – among other things – limit access to heathier foods. We must and will do more.

We will accomplish this through a game-changing focus on nutrition security, which means maintaining consistent and equitable access to healthy, safe, and affordable food. FNS already has a lot of exciting actions underway designed to meaningfully advance nutrition security for tens of millions of Americans and support the goals of the White House Conference. For example, we are updating the WIC food package with science-informed changes and refreshing school meals standards while also seeking to support and incentivize schools that pursue nutritious improvements.

These changes will have tremendous impacts on the millions of families enrolled in our programs. But we won’t stop there. The White House Conference will call upon all stakeholders, including FNS, to continue to take bold action to address hunger and improve nutrition and diet-related health. We are committed to that work and forging a new course to address hardship and health.

At FNS, we look back on 1969 as a transformational year for USDA and for millions of Americans facing hunger, and we will work alongside our incredible partners to maximize the 2022 White House Conference so that future generations will feel the same about the work we’re doing together today.

Thank you to all who have engaged thus far through participating in listening sessions and sharing your ideas. We encourage everyone to tune into the conference, host a conference watch party, and consider ways we can work together to end hunger, reduce diet-related diseases, and advance health equity. Let’s do this!

USDA Is Now Sending Out $500 Million to Fight High Fertilizer Prices in the U.S.

By TYNE MORGAN September 27, 2022

USDA unveiled additional plans to help boost domestic fertilizer production including $500 million in grants. In an announcement Monday, the plan aims to bring more of the critical input sourcing stateside, and therefore reduce the risk of a series of black swans that have flown into the fertilizer market in the past two years.

Farmers are currently looking at fertilizer prices that are trending higher for fall, aiding economic concerns and anxiety about potential farm income for 2023. However, some in the fertilizer industry warn adding fertilizer production in the U.S. will take time and could ultimately lead to higher fertilizer costs.

Tuesday's announcement marks the second time for USDA to unveil a plan on this issue this year. In March, USDA announced plans to make $250 million available toward pushing more American-made fertilizer. At the time, USDA said it intended to use funds from the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) to develop a grant program to provide ‘gap’ financing to bring new, independent domestic production capacity on-line.

Details of USDA's Fertilizer Production Expansion Program

Six months later, that plan is now coming to fruition. On Tuesday, USDA announced details around what it's calling the Fertilizer Production Expansion Program, saying the funding is double what the agency originally set aside with $500 million now available in grants.

“Under the leadership of President Biden and Vice President Harris, USDA is creating a resilient, secure and sustainable economy, and this support to provide domestic, independent choices for fertilizer supplies is part of that effort,” says U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. “USDA believes in the growth of innovative, local businesses owned and shared by people who can best serve their own unique community’s needs, fill gaps, and build opportunities. Recent supply chain disruptions have shown just how critical it is to invest in the agricultural supply chain here at home. The Fertilizer Production Expansion Program is one example of many Biden-Harris Administration initiatives to bring production and jobs back to the United States, promote competition and support American goods and services.”

The Biden administration says the grants are geared toward independent producers who are working toward sustainable American fertilizer production for farmers.
  • The maximum grant amount is $100 million
  • Thee minimum is $1 million.
  • Each grant term is five years.
The White House says the funds can be used to help expand manufacturing of fertilizer as well as alternatives, through:
  • Independent, and outside the orbit of dominant fertilizer suppliers. Because the program’s goal is to increase competition, market share restrictions apply.
  • Made in America. Products must be produced by companies operating in the U.S. or its territories, to create good-paying jobs at home, and reduce the reliance on potentially unstable, inconsistent foreign supplies.
  • Innovative. Techniques will improve fertilizer production methods and efficient-use technologies to jumpstart the next generation of fertilizers and nutrient alternatives.
  • Sustainable. Ideally, products will reduce the greenhouse gas impact of transportation, production and use through renewable energy sources, feedstocks and formulations, incentivizing greater precision in fertilizer use.
  • Farmer-focused. Like other Commodity Credit Corporation investments, a driving factor is providing support and opportunities for U.S. agricultural commodity producers.

The Fertilizer Institute President and CEO Corey Rosenbusch said: “The U.S. fertilizer industry consists of large international corporations, small regional producers, and everything in between. They all play a critical role in suppling farmers with the nutrients required to grow the food that feeds the world. While a nitrogen plant can cost between $2-$4 billion to construct, anything that helps strengthen domestic fertilizer production is a win for the industry, growers, and consumers.”

What's Causing High Fertilizer Prices Today?

The U.S. currently ranks in the top three for fertilizer imports. Most of those products, or components of fertilizer, come from countries including China, Russia, Canada and Morocco. Supply chain issues led to soaring fertilizer prices last fall. Those prices crept even higher ahead of spring planting this year. It wasn’t just price that was a concern, but also availability of fertilizer.

A year ago, news that about black swans hitting the fertilizer industry was a trending story. From the impacts of Hurricane Ida to political and climate issues entangled in a cobweb of production slowdowns in Europe and China, the Black Swan events continued to stack up.

A year later, the issues are still prevalent as farmers face rising fertilizer prices again. From corn prices, transportation issues to even energy prices, there are several factors driving the resurgence of fertilizer prices leading into fall.

Nitrogen prices averted a major disaster two weeks ago when rail companies and rail unions reached a tentative agreement and avoided a possible strike.

Even with the positive news, this chart from StoneX Group shows prices are climbing back toward the highs producers saw last spring.

Concerns About Farm Income in 2023

USDA Chief economist Seth Meyer spoke at the Ag Outlook Forum in Kansas City this week. He described the financial outlook for farmers in 2023 as one that comes with more anxiety, and the main reason is over concerns commodity prices won’t rise at the same rate as input prices. One of those pricey inputs causing concern is the increasing price of fertilizer.

“I think for U.S. producers, it's all going to be about price,” Meyer told AgWeb. “You'll be able to get what you want, but it's going to be about price. I's not going to be at the price you want to pay. I think that part of what we're seeing on costs for this crop that folks are harvesting now was some folks bought ahead and didn't face the full brunt of those rising fertilizer prices.”

Meyer says he doesn’t see fertilizer prices trending back down toward pre-pandemic levels in the short-run.

How High Are Fertilizer Prices Today?

Just how high are nitrogen prices today? One ag retailer in Missouri told AgWeb anhydrous prices for falls needs were:
  • $800 per ton during the fall of 2021
  • $1500 during the spring of 2022
  • Farmers booking fall anhydrous today are paying $1325
A retailer located in Iowa also reported a fertilizer price increase this fall. The location reported:
  • Prices started around $700 during the fall of 2021 and jumped to $1500 by the end of last fall
  • Prices jumped to $1,700 during the spring of 2022
  • Farmers looking to book for fall of 2022 saw prices that started at $1000 per ton, but now it's more than $1400 per ton
“Historically we might have thought fertilizer is primarily an energy cost input,” says Brad Lubben, agricultural economist with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. “Energy drives the cost of fertilizer, but so does output so does the price of corn. So do the supply shocks overseas in terms of foreign suppliers. So do the current energy shocks in Europe, which leaves all kinds of questions about the winter natural gas supply and availability, as well as transportation and everything else that we see going on here with the challenges we’re seeing today. Volatility is something producers are going to have to manage."

Can the Push to Domesticate Fertilizer Production Solve the Issues?

While the short-term price issues are causing concern for farmers today, economists also say moving production domestically will take time. The reason fertilizer production moved to countries like China, Russia and others was due to a lower cost of energy, as well as not as many regulatory hurdles to jump through.

As the Biden administration works toward adding fertilizer capacity in the future, there will be 45-day application window for applicants to receive priority for projects that increase the availability of fertilizer (nitrogen, phosphate or potash) and nutrient alternatives for agricultural producers to use in crop years 2023 or 2024. An additional 45 days will be available for an extended application window to receive applications for financial assistance.

U.S. Blew Up Russian Gas Pipelines Nord Stream 1 & 2, Says Former Polish Defense Minister

Der Spiegel says CIA warned German government of potential sabotage weeks ago

1664315096460.png
A former Polish Defense Minister, Radek Sikorski, has attributed to the United States the sabotage of two pipelines, Nord Stream 1 and 2, which carry natural gas from Russia to Germany. “Thank you, USA,” Sikorski wrote on Twitter. Sikorski was Minister of National Defense from 2005 - 2007 and served as Deputy Minister of National Defense and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, previously. He is currently an elected member of the European parliament.

Nord Stream 1 and 2 lie on the bed of the Baltic Sea. Nord Stream 2 was finished last year but Germany never opened it because Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.

1664315205991.png

Poland’s Secretary of State, Stanisław Żaryn, denounced Sikorki’s claim on Twitter as “Russian #propaganda,” calling it “a smear campaign against Poland, the US, and Ukraine, accusing the West of aggression against #NS1 and #NS2. Authenticating the Russian lies at this particular moment jeopardizes the security of Poland. What an act of gross irresponsibility!”

1664315290659.png

But it’s not out of the realm of the possible that the U.S. is indeed behind the attack. President Joe Biden promised on February 7 to prevent Nord Stream 2 from becoming operational if Russia invaded Ukraine. "If Russia invades,” said Biden, “then there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it."

Reporter: "But how will you do that, exactly, since...the project is in Germany's control?"

Biden: "I promise you, we will be able to do that."

Sen. Joe Manchin Caves On Permitting Proposal After Dems Revolt

MICHAEL GINSBERG CONGRESSIONAL REPORTER
September 27, 20225:36 PM ET

Democratic West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin backed down from including his energy permitting overhaul in a government funding resolution Tuesday evening after a bipartisan group of senators threatened to block it.

Federal funding is scheduled to run out Sept. 30, and the continuing resolution introduced by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York would pay for the government to stay open through Dec. 16. As part of Manchin’s support for the Inflation Reduction Act, Schumer promised the moderate that the Senate would pass his permitting reform proposal. The Energy Independence and Security Act would speed up completion of the Mountain Valley Pipeline, a more-than-300 mile pipeline that would transport natural gas from West Virginia to Virginia, and amend the National Environmental Policy Act or the Clean Water Act to require federal agencies to approve or reject energy projects faster.

“It is unfortunate that members of the United States Senate are allowing politics to put the energy security of our nation at risk. The last several months, we have seen firsthand the destruction that is possible as Vladimir Putin continues to weaponize energy. A failed vote on something as critical as comprehensive permitting reform only serves to embolden leaders like Putin who wish to see America fail. For that reason and my firmly held belief that we should never come to the brink of a government shutdown over politics, I have asked Majority Leader Schumer to remove the permitting language from the Continuing Resolution we will vote on this evening,” Manchin said in a statement.

1664316153140.png

“I stand ready to work with my colleagues to move forward on this critical legislation to meet the challenges of delivering affordable reliable energy Americans desperately need,” he added.

Manchin had previously threatened to side with Republicans and shut down the government if his permitting reform was removed from the continuing resolution. Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, as well as left-wing House Democrats led by Arizona Rep. Raul Grijalva, also threatened a government shutdown. Other Democratic opponents included Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine and Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky whipped Republicans against the provision, although Manchin’s fellow West Virginia senator, Republican Shelley Moore Capito, came out in favor of it.

“Given what Senator Manchin did on the reconciliation bill, [it’s] engendered a lot of bad blood,” Republican Texas Sen. John Cornyn told Politico of the package. “There’s not a lot of sympathy on our side to provide Sen. Manchin a reward.”

Manchin announced his support just hours after 17 Republican senators voted in favor the CHIPS and Science Act. McConnell had threatened to pull Republican support from the research and development package if Democrats continued with reconciliation negotiations.

‘Act Of Sabotage’: Europe Investigates Massive Leaks From Nord Stream Pipelines

MICAELA BURROW
REPORTER
September 27, 2022

European countries suspect sabotage on two major gas pipelines from Russia after discovering gas leaks at three separate locations in the Baltic Sea Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

Pressure on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines used to deliver Russian gas to Germany dropped suddenly on Monday, and later on Tuesday the Swedish Maritime Administration detected multiple leaks in Swedish and Danish waters of the Baltic sea, according to The Wall Street Journal. The cause of the leaks remains unclear, but European countries suspect deliberate action against the energy infrastructure, which Russia has been accused of weaponizing against Europe.

“Today we faced an act of sabotage, we don’t know all the details of what happened, but we see clearly that it’s an act of sabotage, related to the next step of escalation of the situation in Ukraine,” Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said, according to Reuters.

Denmark, Germany and Poland suggested outside forces could have deliberately damaged the politically-fraught pipelines, according to Financial Times, though they didn’t identify any by name.

The Kremlin also called the incident an “an unprecedented situation requiring urgent investigation,” the WSJ reported, as videos of U.S. President Joe Biden’s pre-invasion threats in February to take down the second pipeline circulated social media.

“If Russia invades… again, then there will be longer Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it,” Biden said on Feb. 7 in a joint conference with German Chancellor Olaf Sholz, Reuters reported.

The Biden administration had reluctantly agreed to Germany’s deal with Russian energy giant Gazprom to build the Nord Stream 2 pipeline that would allow the firm to double its export capacity to Europe and bypass transit authorities in Ukraine, according to Reuters. Berlin reversed course earlier in February in light of the imminent invasion, saying the country needed to “reassess” the security of its oil supply.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov said the damage could be attributed to sabotage, but no definitive statement could be made until the investigation concludes, the WSJ reported.

Attempts to speculate on the cause of the leaks are “premature,” European Commission spokesman Tim McPhie said Tuesday, according to Reuters. The commission would continue to monitor the leaks and work with member states to investigate the issue, he added.

Data from Sweden’s national seismology research center apparently showed powerful undersea seismic event near the areas where the pipelines traversed, according to Danish Broadcasting.

1664317475294.png

Swedish and Danish maritime officials issued navigational warnings for ships and aircraft in the region after discovering the leaks Monday.

The leaks should not affect European energy supply, as operator Nord Stream AG and Russia’s Gazprom PJSC had largely deactivated both pipelines from transporting gas to the continent. However, they contained gas under pressure, fueling the leak.

Nord Stream AG did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

"The Train Crash Scenario": California EV Mandates Will Further Stress An Already Exhausted Electric Grid

TUESDAY, SEP 27, 2022 - 02:20 PM

So apparently the idea of EVs providing a problem-free and pollution-free utopia where everybody lives in total harmony and there are no problems isn't quite the reality of the situation.

The reality in California, as the Wall Street Journal wrote about this week, is actually that EV charging is putting stress onto an aging grid and forcing the state to think about ways to generate more power.

The state's plan to end gas powered vehicles by 2035 means that power needs in the state are going to increase. Meanwhile, as California's grid has already been stressed this year, the state has been asking citizens to be mindful of when they charge their EVs - and even when they use their major appliances.

Which, of course, begs the question: how the hell is the state going to go all electric within 12 years?

First, it'll need buy-in from its citizens over charging habits. Dan Bowermaster, senior program manager for electric transportation at EPRI, a nonprofit research group, told WSJ: “Are people going to top off every night? Are people going to wait every few days and then charge up all at once? There are a lot of questions about customer behavior.”

Utilities and auto makers are already trying to offer incentives for owners to charge at certain times and using favorable methods, the report says.

The state is expected to have 5.4 million passenger EVs and 193,000 medium and heavy duty EVs by 2030, the state’s energy commission estimates. This charging will amount to 5% of the electric load at peak hours, compared to about 1% now.

Despite this, Liane Randolph, chair of the California Air Resources Board, is optimistic. She told the WSJ: “The reality is the grid is only stressed in a limited period, a few hours in the early evening on certain types of days. Most of the time it’s fine.”

Oh, okay. Problem solved.

Well not quite. A study out of Stanford released last week showed that the grid could face problems late at night when cars are charged at home. Siobhan Powell, the study’s lead author, commented: “If everyone were doing that, it would cause really big problems.”

At home charging draws about the same power as using 2.5 air conditioners, the report says.

John Moura, director of reliability assessment and performance analysis at the North American Electric Reliability Corp., added: “There’s some energy challenges in how we’re bringing on new resources to meet this new growth of electricity demand.”

“The disaster kind of comes from the rally cries from the public that utilities aren’t connecting their EVs fast enough. And now that bumps up against EV mandates. That’s the train-crash scenario.”

US Egg Prices Hit Record High As Resurgent Bird Flu Dents Production

TUESDAY, SEP 27, 2022 - 01:40 PM

The unseasonable return of avian influenza or bird flu continues to devastate egg production in the US. As a result, retail prices for a dozen eggs at the supermarket have soared to record highs, fueling breakfast inflation.

Bird flu's return comes as more than 40 million birds were culled in the first half of the year. The disease usually abates during the hot summer months. The current death toll of birds stands at a whopping 45 million and could dramatically worsen, Beth Thompson, South Dakota's state veterinarian, told Bloomberg. She said the virus is being fueled this fall by the migration of wild birds that fly above commercial farms and leave droppings that get tracked into poultry houses.

Thompson said bird flu "doesn't seem to have been affected by that hot summer, and in the next probably four to six weeks, we're going to see those migrating birds coming back from Canada, flying over the US." She added, "that may increase the viral load that's out in the environment."

The culling of millions of birds has dented egg supplies, sending prices sky-high and above 2015 outbreak levels (last major bird flu) to now $3.16 per dozen at the supermarket. Retail prices have doubled since August 2020, straining consumers' wallets as breakfast inflation soars.

Besides eggs, turkeys sell at a record high price ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

According to Urner Barry data, turkey prices were about $1.82 a pound last week, up from $1.42 last year and $1.01 before the pandemic.

"There's nothing appearing on the horizon to suggest anything new is going to surface to help ease the supply-side pain for Thanksgiving turkeys," said Russ Whitman, senior vice president at commodity researcher Urner Barry.

Consumers can't catch a break as food inflation pressures household budgets. There's nothing the Federal Reserve can do about supply-side food woes because they can't print eggs or turkey meat. Instead, the Fed can aggressively send interest rates higher, denting demand though it comes at a risk of causing household discontent.

Israeli Investigators Find COVID-19 Vaccines Cause Side Effects: Leaked Video

By Meiling Lee and Zachary Stieber September 23, 2022 Updated: September
Israeli researchers found some side effects that occurred after COVID-19 vaccination were caused by Pfizer’s vaccine, according to a leaked video.

The Israeli Ministry of Health (MoH) commissioned researchers to analyze adverse event reports submitted by Israelis and the researchers presented findings from the new surveillance system in an internal June 2022 meeting, video of which was obtained by an Israeli journalist.

Researchers said that the phenomenon of rechallenge—when adverse events reoccur or worsen following additional vaccine doses—proved that some of the events were caused by the vaccine.

A positive rechallenge was reported in 10 percent of the women who complained of menstrual issues, according to the researchers, who also identified cases of rechallenge for other adverse events.

Rechallenge changes a causal link “from possible to definitive,” Dr. Mati Berkovitch, head of the research team and a pediatric specialist, said at the meeting.

Rechallenge “helps us to establish the causal relationship,” added Sasha Zhurat, the main presenter at the meeting. The advantage of the surveillance system and the analysis “is not only to identify the symptoms but also to link them to the vaccine,” she said.

Footage of the meeting was leaked to Yaffa Shir-Raz, a health journalist and a risk communication researcher. Shir-Raz has publicly released clips from the meeting. The Epoch Times reviewed footage of the entire meeting and had key portions translated independently for this story.

About two months after the meeting, the MoH published a public report on the results of the data analysis. Language in the report on causality differed from that used during the meeting.

“The report presents all the cases that were reported in close proximity to the receipt of the coronavirus vaccine, and does not necessarily indicate a causal relationship between receiving the vaccine and the reported phenomenon,” MoH said in the report.

MoH spokespersons did not return or declined to answer questions on the discrepancy. Instead, a spokesperson sent a press release dated Sept. 19, 2021, that announced the “establishment of a dedicated information headquarters for the fight against the coronavirus.”

Zhurat declined to comment.

“I’m no longer part of the project. Unfortunately, I cannot address your questions. Please reffer [sic] your queries to the MOH,” she told The Epoch Times via Facebook message.

A request for comment to Dr. Emilia Anis, director of the MoH Division of Epidemiology and a meeting attendee, was returned by the MoH, which declined to answer the questions asked of Anis.

Berkowitz did not respond to a request for comment.

Rechallenge
Rechallenge in pharmacovigilance is one of the factors to determine causality and refers to the re-administration of the same vaccine or drug after an adverse event goes away to examine whether the same event occurs again.

Dr. Robert Malone, who helped develop the messenger RNA (mRNA) technology on which Pfizer’s vaccine is built, told The Epoch Times that rechallenge is a “standard pharmaceutical clinical trial practice” that can provide definitive proof of causality.

“The reports of rechallenge in the Israeli study do not prove causality,” according to Malone. Only a formal rechallenge trial would, he said. The analysis, though, “strongly suggests and supports causality,” he said.

Dr. Harvey Risch, a professor emeritus of epidemiology at the Yale School of Public Health, told The Epoch Times via email that the researchers “are essentially correct” in their conclusions that the vaccines caused the adverse events.

Researchers in other countries have said before that there are causal links between certain vaccines and certain side effects.

“The current evidence supports a causal association between mRNA COVID-19 vaccination and myocarditis and pericarditis,” Dr. Tom Shimabukuro, a health researcher with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said during a meeting over the summer.

Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine also utilizes mRNA technology. Myocarditis and pericarditis are two forms of heart inflammation that can lead to death.

Most side effects following COVID-19 vaccination tend to be mild and typically last only a few days, according to the CDC. Other post-vaccination conditions are described as adverse events.

Side effects are health issues that have been proven to be caused by a vaccine, while an adverse event is a medical condition that may or may not be related to the vaccine.

The CDC’s Immunization Safety Office declined to comment on the Israeli findings. “CDC continues to monitor the safety of COVID-19 vaccines and makes information available to the public in a timely and transparent manner,” it told The Epoch Times via email.

Pfizer and Moderna have not responded to requests for comment.

Israel has primarily administered Pfizer’s vaccine, entering into a unique agreement (pdf) with the U.S.-based pharmaceutical company. Israel quickly received Pfizer doses. In return, the country allowed Pfizer executives to access some national health data.

Other Findings Not Made Public
Israel’s surveillance system was revamped in December 2021.

The data presented in June was collected from December 2021 to May.

The surveillance system received a total of 8,000 reports, of which 1,741 were removed for providing incomplete or duplicate information.

Of the 6,259 reports presented, 599 were for children aged 5 to 11; 299 for adolescents aged 12 to 17; and 5,411 for adults 18 and older. More women than men completed the questionnaire.

A total of 29 categories of adverse events were identified, 22 of them from the blank space option on the questionnaire. However, only data for the first five categories with the most reports were analyzed: neurological (395 reports), general side effects (295), menstrual disorder (282), musculoskeletal disorders (279), and the digestive, kidney, and urinary system (192).

Many of the reported adverse events were found to be long-lasting, which researchers said in the meeting was surprising since the brochure handed to vaccine recipients says otherwise. They also said Pfizer officials told them that Pfizer did not know of any long-lasting symptoms.

Researchers also said that they identified new adverse events not listed in the brochure, including back pain.

In the official report later issued to the public, the MoH did not detail how researchers were caught off guard by the duration of the events and side effects. The health agency also stated that there were no new events identified.

“In conclusion, the reported phenomena are known phenomena in the professional literature and were also found in the previous reports of the Ministry of Health, and there was no observation of an increase in a new phenomenon (new signal),” the MoH wrote.

Shir-Raz, the journalist who broke the story about the internal meeting, said the delay in reporting the results included not sharing the data with the MoH expert panel that convened near the end of June to decide whether to recommend Pfizer’s vaccine for children aged 6 months to 5 years.

“We have the protocol of this meeting, so we know it specifies which documents were presented to them when they made their decision, and there was no mention of this study in the protocol,” Shir-Raz told The Epoch Times, citing a MoH document (pdf) she obtained. “So they hid it even from their own experts.”

Shir-Raz who was fired from her job last year for writing articles critical of the MoH’s handling of the lockdown and COVID-19 deaths statistics, said that breaking the story was about “getting the truth out.”

“For the past two months, I’ve been dedicating myself almost entirely to this story only … It’s not just another issue for me, it’s not another article,” Shir-Raz said. “For me, it’s getting the truth out. Because it’s not just local … It has international implications.”

US Connection
Israel has often been the first country to report on vaccine safety and effectiveness. Its data has regularly been cited by U.S. agencies, including the CDC.

Dr. Sharon Alroy-Preis, an Israeli official who has said she’s in charge of vaccine safety monitoring, has presented data four times to the CDC and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration since September 2021, most recently in April 2022.

Retsef Levi, professor of operations management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said during one of the meetings that the MoH’s surveillance system was “truly dysfunctional” and “does not address appropriately major concerning safety signals.”

Alroy-Preis responded by expressing surprise. “It’s our data, I’m in charge of it, so I know exactly what is being reported to us,” she told U.S. officials.

But the system in place through most of 2021 was later replaced, with Israeli officials acknowledging it wasn’t adequate.

Under the old system, reports could be submitted anonymously to the ministry’s website. Reports could not be verified, making it impossible to conduct reliable analyses of the data, according to the MoH.

“As time passed, it became clear that the manner of reporting on the ministry’s website, which is an anonymous report in free text, made it difficult to check the reliability of the data and their meaning, their professional analysis and drawing conclusions,” the MoH wrote in its August report.

It wasn’t until October 2021, though, that the ministry began creating “an identified questionnaire” with predefined conditions and a field to add more details of the adverse reactions, including other conditions not listed on the questionnaire that would be used in the analysis by Berkowitz and his team.

The new system requires people to input their identities and other information along with details of the adverse event.

“There is identification of the patient. This is not an anonymous report,” Zhurat said during the meeting.

The choice to omit some of the crucial findings discussed in the meeting from the public report is “a recipe to destroy” the entire vaccine program, according to Levi, an Israeli native and an expert in risk management.

“The more pro-vaccine, the more disturbed you need to be from something like this,” Levi told The Epoch Times. “And the reason is that the two most important enablers for vaccine programs … to be successful is trust and transparency, that you actually communicate to people the real risk-benefits and allow them to make choices about what they want to do. The second thing is that you take care of the people that were harmed by the vaccine because no vaccine has 100 percent safety.”

“I think we have in this example … where we violate these two very important principles,” he added. “This is a recipe to basically destroy all vaccine programs, so the more pro-vaccine you are, you should be more disturbed by this.”

Results Show Huge Majorities In Favor Of Joining Russia As Ukraine Annexation Polls Close: State Media

TUESDAY, SEP 27, 2022 - 01:20 PM

Annexation polls have closed Tuesday in four occupied regions of Ukraine, after five days of voting on whether or not citizens in these territories wish to join the Russian Federation. Marking the occasion, President Vladimir Putin said in a televised meeting with officials: "Saving people in the territories where this referendum is taking place... is the focus of the attention of our entire society and of the entire country."

Russia's state RT has announced partial results late in the evening (local time) showing a huge majority in both the breakaway Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) supporting uniting with the Russian Federation. "In DPR, more than 98% of voters supported the idea to join Russia, according to early official figures. The referendum in LPR yielded a similar result, with more than 97% of voters supporting the potential reunification. In Lugansk, all the ballots have been already counted, according to local authorities, while Donetsk, so far, has processed just over a half of votes."

And on initial results from Zaporizhzhia, Russian's English language broadcaster reports, "Residents of the Zaporozhye region in Ukraine, which is partially controlled by Moscow, have elected to break away from the country and join the Russian Federation. More than 93% of voters have supported the idea to split from Ukraine and join Russia, official figures show after all the ballots have been counted."

The Ukrainian government and its Western backers have denounced the referendums as a "sham" - given it's happening in the middle of a war and occupation. Yet other observers have noted these are all historically Russian-speaking regions, and that even without the Russian invasion a strong pro-Moscow showing would be likely.

The votes were held starting late last week through the weekend in self-declared republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, and in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia - despite Russian forces not currently being in control of every part of these territorial regions.

Not only has Kyiv vowed not to recognize any declared "independence" of these oblasts, it has even threatened lengthy prison sentences for any Ukrainian who organizes referenda or individuals who participate in the voting.

Meanwhile Russia's RIA said of voting across the occupied territories: First partial voting results from Russian-occupied parts of four regions of Ukraine show majorities of at least 96% in favor of becoming part of Russia.

1664320533335.png

The Kremlin has announced a major Putin speech set for Friday, and it's believed the Russian leader will use the occasion to declare the Ukrainian territories now part of Russia. This will mean close to 20% of Ukraine's geographic territory will be claimed as under the Russian state.

In Dramatic Escalation, European Nat Gas Prices Soar After Gazprom Warns Ukraine Flows At Risk

TUESDAY, SEP 27, 2022 - 09:19 AM
In a day of constant news surrounding European gas flows, including the potential sabotage of the Nord Stream pipeline, moments ago, Russia state-owned gas giant Gazprom PJSC warned that another major source of gas flows to Europe was at risk, just hours after three massive gas pipelines were hit by suspected sabotage.

As Bloomberg reports, in a dramatic escalation of the energy standoff between Russia and Europe in little over 24 hours, the Nord Stream pipeline was knocked out by what German officials said looked like sabotage. Gazprom then said that one of two remaining routes bringing gas to Europe - via Ukraine - was at risk because of a legal spat.

Specifically, as Reuters notes, Gazprom rejected all claims from Ukraine's energy firm Naftogaz in arbitration proceedings over Russian gas transit, and had notified the arbitration court. It also said that Russia may introduce sanctions against Naftogaz in case it further pursues the arbitration case, meaning Gazprom would be prohibited by the sanctions from paying Ukraine the transit fees.

Naftogaz had initiated a new arbitration proceeding against Gazprom earlier this month, saying the Russian company did not pay for the rendered service of gas transportation through Ukraine. The company had said "funds were not paid by Gazprom, neither on time nor in full" for the gas transit.

Gazprom said on Tuesday that Naftogaz had no "appropriate reasons" to reject its obligations on transit via the Sokhranovka point, a key route for Russian gas exports to Europe.

In May, Ukraine suspended the flow of gas through Sokhranovka, which it said delivers almost a third of the fuel piped from Russia to Europe through Ukraine, blaming Moscow for the move and saying it would move the flows elsewhere.

Following the report that Russia may soon halt natgas transit via Ukraine, gas prices quickly jumped almost 20% as traders factored in the prospect that Europe will have to live without Russian gas this winter - and beyond.

Gazprom said that a legal dispute risks prompting Moscow to sanction Ukraine’s Naftogaz. If that happened, then Gazprom would be unable to pay transit fees, the company said on Telegram, putting at risk flows.

“In practice, this will mean a ban on Gazprom from fulfilling obligations to sanctioned bodies under completed transactions, including financial transactions,” the company said.

If, or rather when, supplies through Ukraine are shut down, it would leave Gazprom sending gas only via the TurkStream pipeline to Turkey and a handful of European countries that haven't severed business ties with Russia.

Durable Goods Drop Most Since February On Transportation Weakness, Offset By Strong Core CapEx

TUESDAY, SEP 27, 2022 - 05:59 AM
Following the June surge, which led to a modest July drop, durable goods were expected to slow further by sliding -0.3% M/M, and moments ago we learned that indeed in August durable goods slid -0.2%, fractionally above expectations if still the biggest sequential drop since February, however on a YoY basis, growth rebounded back to double digits, rising 11.2% after July's 9.2%.

The drop was largely due to a -1.1% decline in Transportation Equipment new orders. Ex-Transports, durable goods orders rose 0.2% MoM, in line with expectations.

There was better news in the value of Capital Goods New Orders Nondefense Ex Aircraft & Parts - a proxy for capital expenditure - which rose a solid 1.3% after an upwardly revised 0.7% advance; it beat the 0.2% expectation.

Also notable: while Nondefense aircraft and parts (i.e., regular airplanes) saw a -18.5% drop in new orders to $13.3BN, this was offset by a Defense 31.2% surge in Defense aircraft new orders, as the series jumped to the 2nd highest of 2022. Finally, the Ukraine war is paying off for the MIC.

So despite headline weakness, durable goods confirm a strong economy, suggesting the Fed will stay hawkish. That said, all of this data is nominal - not adjusted for inflation - so adjust your euphoria at the 'economic' strength accordingly.

Americans Have Lost $4,200 in Annual Income Under Biden Administration: Report

By Katabella Roberts
September 26, 2022 Updated: September 26, 2022

Americans have lost over $4,000 in annual income since President Joe Biden took office owing to soaring inflation and higher interest rates, according to data compiled by The Heritage Foundation and released on Sept. 22.

In total, Americans have lost the equivalent of $4,200 in annual income under the Biden administration, according to the Washington, D.C.-based think tank.
The foundation said its experts calculated this “shocking” figure by looking at various sets of data: consumer prices data and the Federal Reserve’s interest rates.

Consumer prices have risen 12.7 percent since January 2021, much faster than wages, which Foundation analysts say has lost the average American worker $3,000 in annual purchasing power.

Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve’s tighter monetary policy to combat inflation has meant that interest rates are rising, resulting in increased borrowing costs on mortgages, vehicle loans, and credit cards. This, Heritage Foundation analysts say, has reduced the average American’s purchasing power by another $1,200 per year.

“Simply put, working Americans are $4,200 poorer today than when Biden took office,” said EJ Antoni, research fellow in regional economics with The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Data Analysis.

“This financial catastrophe for American families is the direct result of a president and Congress addicted to spending our money, combined with a Federal Reserve compliantly enabling this addiction by printing more dollars.

Washington recklessly spent trillions of dollars it did not have and paid for it with newly printed money, causing rampant inflation that has destroyed people’s purchasing power and jeopardized Americans’ financial futures,” Antoni added.

‘Vicious Spiral’

The research fellow also took aim at the Biden administration and Congress for continuing on the spending spree and allowing the Federal Reserve printing presses to roll instead of “correcting course over a year ago when inflation began rising.”

Inflation was at 1.4 percent when Biden took office in January 2021.

Heritage Foundation analysts noted that the average American worker’s real annual earnings increased by $4,000 under former President Donald Trump’s low-inflation economy.

“We are in a vicious spiral, but it’s one of Joe Biden, the Democrat-controlled Congress, and the Fed’s own making,” Antoni added.

The latest report from The Heritage Foundation comes shortly after the Federal Reserve raised its benchmark interest rate by 75 basis points for the third straight month in an effort to cool down red-hot inflation.

Fed officials indicated that more large increases were on the way following five consecutive rate increases this year so far.

A separate report from the Congressional Budget Office published on Sept. 22 found that inflation has impacted middle class Americans the hardest; more so than low- and high-income households.

Fed Chair Jerome Powell said shortly after the decision to hike rates again that there is no “painless” way to bring down inflation, while noting that achieving a soft landing would be “very challenging.”

Meanwhile, Biden has continued to downplay red-hot inflation, telling CBS’ “60 Minutes” program on Sept. 18 that the “inflation rate month to month was just … an inch, hardly at all.”

Oil Surges After Russia Proposes 1 Million Barrel OPEC+ Output Cut

TUESDAY, SEP 27, 2022 - 07:03 AM
Yesterday, as oil prices were tumbling to fresh 2022 lows despite a major hot war taking place and collapsing energy CapEx which virtually assures a crippling energy crisis in the next 5-10 years, we asked if OPEC+ would "wait until tomorrow to drop the output hammer or will they go today."

1664321516645.png

Well, they waited until tomorrow, because moments ago Reuters reported that following recent media reports that Saudi Arabia and Russia would likely cut output if Brent drops below $90, OPEC+ dropped the trial balloon of what comes next:
  • RUSSIA WILL LIKELY PROPOSE OPEC+ REDUCES OUTPUT BY AROUND 1 MLN BPD AT NEXT MEETING - SOURCE FAMILIAR WITH RUSSIAN THINKING
As Oilprice adds, the news comes just a day after comments made at Monday's APPEC's oil conference that suggested global oil stocks are set to rise next year amid weak demand and a strong dollar—and that OPEC would have to cut output if they wanted to keep prices from falling further.

OPEC would have to make oil cuts between 500,000 and 1 million bpd to keep Brent above $90 per barrel, Gary Ross, chief executive of Black Gold Investors, said at the meeting on Monday.

Now Russia itself could recommend a million bpd cut—and as one of the two largest members of the OPEC+ group, the county's recommendations hold weight.

The next OPEC+ meeting will be held on October 5, which will determine the output targets for November. It is also in November when the current batch of U.S. SPR releases, which have helped to prop up low oil inventories, will cease.

OPEC+ cut production targets for October by 100,000 bpd at the previous meeting, demonstrating its willingness—to respond to the changing oil markets in an expeditious manner.

And since most other OPEC+ sources will agree with Russia, oil has spiked with WTI surging more than 3% from $77.8 to just shy of $80.

And while Biden is still draining the SPR at an accelerated pace to minimize the Democrat rout in November, oil will likely fluctuate for the next two months at which point it will explode higher as the new post-SPR drain reality finally kicks in.

Uranium Stocks Rise As German Minister Sees Nuclear Power Plant Extension Increasingly Likely

TUESDAY, SEP 27, 2022 - 08:41 AM

Uranium stocks advanced on Tuesday after Germany's economy minister expects to extend the lifespan of the country's last two nuclear power plants to prevent the risks of rolling blackouts in Europe's largest economy this winter.

"We are already in a place where the stress test says: It may be necessary to use nuclear power plants for grid security," Economy Minister Robert Habeck said at a climate conference in Berlin, which Reuters quoted.

Earlier this month, Chancellor Olaf Scholz's ruling coalition approved measures to extend two of the country's three remaining nuclear power plants through the end of this year and into next if needed, reversing planned shutdowns of the plants.

The reversal comes as the historic energy crisis in Europe worsens by the week. Leaks in the Nord Stream pipelines may indicate Nord Stream 1 is indefinitely shuttered.

Habeck said life extensions of the two nuclear plants are to reduce grid bottlenecks.

"It's not the amount of electricity, but the distribution of power in the grid," he said, adding he was concerned by the decline of nuclear power from France.

When asked if lifespan extensions of the two German nuclear plants looked possible, Habeck said: "It is certainly not less likely."

Habeck's comments generated bullish sentiment across uranium stocks. Global X Uranium ETF (URA) rose 5%, led by Western Uranium & Vanadium, Isoenergy, Energy Fuels, Global Atomic, Uranium Energy, and Forsys.

Support for nuclear continues to gain momentum. And in Germany's case, it could help with grid stability ahead of what's expected to be a cold and dark winter.

The Housing Bubble Has Officially Burst : Case-Shiller Records First Drop In Home Prices Since 2012

TUESDAY, SEP 27, 2022 - 08:33 AM

Analysts expected Case-Shiller Home Price growth to continue its modest deceleration in August (the latest available data in this heavily lagged and smoothed data set), but the result was a doozy: the 20-City Composite index tumbled 0.44% MoM, far below the 0.20% expected increase, and a sharp decline from the downward revised 0.19% increase in July; more importantly, this was the first sequential drop in home prices tracked by Case-Shiller since March 2012, or ten and a half years.

On a Y/Y basis, home prices rose just 16.06%, down from 18.66% YoY in July, and missing expectations of a 17.1% increase. The headline national average price index rose 15.77% YoY in August.

Comments confirmed that the mood is dismal and turning uglier by the day: “Although U.S. housing prices remain substantially above their year-ago levels, July’s report reflects a forceful deceleration,” says Craig J. Lazzara, Managing Director at S&P DJI.

“For example, while the National Composite Index rose by 15.8% in the 12 months ended July 2022, its year-over-year price rise in June was 18.1%. The -2.3% difference between those two monthly rates of gain is the largest deceleration in the history of the index. We saw similar patterns in our 10-City Composite (up 14.9% in July vs. 17.4% in June) and our 20-City Composite (up 16.1% in July vs. 18.7% in June). On a month-over-month basis, all three composites declined in July."

“The theme of strong but decelerating prices was reflected across all 20 cities. July’s year-over-year price change was positive for each one of the 20 cities, with a median gain of 15.0%, but in every case July’s gain was less than June’s. Prices declined in 12 cities on a month-to-month basis. Tampa (+31.8%) narrowly edged Miami (+31.7%) to remain at the top of the league table for the fifth consecutive month, with Dallas (+24.7%) holding on to third place. As has been the case for the last several months, price growth was strongest in the Southeast (+27.5%) and South (+26.9%).

Lazzara concluded by noting that “as the Federal Reserve continues to move interest rates upward, mortgage financing has become more expensive, a process that continues to this day. Given the prospects for a more challenging macroeconomic environment, home prices may well continue to decelerate.”

Finally, we note that drops such as this are absolutely critical to avoid a total implosion in the housing sector, whose affordability just hit a record low last month, but managed to rebound modestly in July, as a result of dropping prices. That said, prices will have to drop by a lot more if housing is again to become affordable to ordinary Americans.

New Home Sales Unexpectedly Soar With Second Biggest Increase On Record

TUESDAY, SEP 27, 2022 - 07:36 AM

After last month's jarring 12.6% tumble, which sent the SAAR to the lowest level since Jan 2016, US new home sales were expected to slide again if at a far more moderate pace: instead, we got another shocker because just minutes after Case-Shiller confirmed the first sequential drop in US home prices since 2012, the Census Bureau reported that in August, new homes unexpectedly soared by 28.8% - the 2nd biggest monthly increase on record (only behind the 30.6% spike in June 2020) smashing expectations of a -2.2% drop, and a massive reversal from last month's upward revised -8.6% drop.

And so after 6 declines in the past 7 months, the actual SAAR number of new home sales exploded higher from 532K, the lowest in six years, to 685K, the highest since March!

Thanks to the unexpected surge in sales, the supply of new homes - which last month hit the highest since 2009 - collapse by more than 2 months, to just 8.1 months of supply.

And as one would expect, the surge in sales took place as both Median and Average new home sales prices dipped, if just modestly.

After hitting a record high of $466,300 just last month, the median new home price slumped 6.3% to $436,800 which still is one of the highest prices on record.

While the surge in new home sales is likely a delayed aftereffect of yields which dropped in the late summer and have since exploded to the highest level in a decade - which likely assures that next month we may well see the biggest drop in new home sales on record - the Fed will not be happy to see this latest surge in new home sales which will be a sign that even more tightening is required.
