Either that, or Drudge was being histrionic and decided to reduce the sensationalist tone.

Perhaps. Early on I was dubious about the various videos and pictures coming out on twitter as it's too easy to fool people. Seeing way too much evidence now from many different areas that this thing is morphing out of control at least in China and I'm believing the body count is significantly higher than what is being reported. A good part of that is China not wanting to fess up but another part of it is lack of test kits, labs and supplies to confirm the diagnosis of patients along with being overwhelmed not only by the sick but the dying. I'm about at the point where I'm finding it more likely than not of a tenfold increase both in the sick and those who have died as opposed to what has been reported through official channels.

I generally agree, though I maintain that we need to be careful about what we see shoved in our faces even outside official channels. Which is, of course, what I think most of here are doing.

L.A.B.

Goodness before greatness.
I don't know why they won't tell older people with conditions that make them of particular risk to be extra careful with this one. The rules of risk management are: (1) avoidance; (2) minimization; and (3) mitigation. Why is it we have to dig so hard to find out for ourselves how to take care of our health?

One day our conditioned society may come to a realization that the twin serpents twisted upon one another on a staff was not the best choice for a confidence building symbol of matriarchal medicine.

Pharma knows best.

I intended to say "I feel pretty certain that any effort to contain this virus will not be effective."
And then I read "Strategy for Now Isn’t to Stop It, But to Slow It"

Apparently, I was right.
It appears that sooner or later everyone is going to get the disease.

Here's what stood out in the CDC report to me:

Recommendations for Healthcare Providers
No vaccine or specific treatment for 2019-nCoV infection is available. At present, medical care for patients with 2019-nCoV is supportive.

Persons with confirmed or suspected 2019-nCoV infection who are hospitalized should be evaluated and cared for in a private room with the door closed, ideally an airborne infection isolation room, if available. For more information, see Interim Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations for Patients with Known or Patients Under Investigation for 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in a Healthcare Setting (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...n-control.html).

Home care and isolation may be an option, based on clinical and public health assessment, for some persons. Please see Interim Guidance for Preventing the Spread of 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in Homes and Communities (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...nt-spread.html).

Those isolated at home should be monitored by public health officials to the extent possible. Refer to Interim Guidance for Implementing Home Care of People Not Requiring Hospitalization for 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...home-care.html) for more information.

Notes
1Close contact is defined as:

a) being within approximately 6 feet (2 meters), or within the room or care area, of a 2019-nCoV case for a prolonged period of time while not wearing recommended personal protective equipment or PPE (e.g., gowns, gloves, NIOSH-certified disposable N95 respirator, eye protection); close contact can include caring for, living with, visiting, or sharing a health care waiting area or room with a 2019-nCoV case
or –
b) having direct contact with infectious secretions of a 2019-nCoV case (e.g., being coughed on) while not wearing recommended personal protective equipment.
2Fever may be subjective or confirmed

So---it really MAKES NO DIFFERENCE with this virus whether we are a "first world" or "third world" nation--the virus is no "respecter of persons" in that sense.

There IS NO TREATMENT.

You live.....or you die.

I live next door to a Chinese Catholic church (since we have a large lot it's not "right" up against our door, and their front door faces away from our house) but I REALLY hope the "airborne" virus can't fly in the wind the 1000 or so feet to our yard...

Then just north of our town there's a LARGE Asian enclave--mostly Korean---and a few miles SOUTH of our town there's a region where ALL the signs are in some kind of Asian script---they had lots of Vietnamese / Cambodian refugees in the 1980's and the locals secretly refer to the area now as "Chambodia".

My immediate area is almost 100% Hispanic now--but that's no guarantee of anything.

No stopping it.....no treatment.....and a son who goes down on MARTA to GSU to his classes 4 days a week....

Clinging hard to Psalm 91:

1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

9Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

12They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

There is an updated post in the "On Your Own" section (sewing area) - Nightwolf says DO NOT BOIL AND SALT COMMERCIAL MASKS - it can destroy what makes them work, even surgical masks.

Instead, make HOMEMADE CLOTH MASKS out of FINE WOVEN COTTON or other breathable material and boil them in a SATURATED SALT BATH (aka put as much salt as you can into boiling water until the spoon comes out covered in salt or you can't add anymore without making mush).

DRY masks totally afterward - for BEST PROTECTION, wear the homemade masks securely fitted over surgical masks - if the salt is an issue, make boiled cotton under-mask (without salt) to protect your face, if you don't have commercial ones.

You can also make a FACE SHIELD (to protect the eyes/wear over glasses) out of a large plastic water bottle, it does NOT protect from inhaling the virus but it WILL PROTECT YOUR EYES if you don't have googles or can't wear them.

In a pinch, a draped plastic bag would also work for a face shield, but again is the last resort - but it is better than nothing.

Nightwolf wants to remind everyone that nothing, not even an N100 mask is going to be totally full proof but everything you can do to limit exposure helps - the salt masks can be reboiled and reused - and should be if they get wet or if anyone sneezes or coughs on you.

Now I'll get back to catching up on the thread...Melodi

Thank you, Melodi. I am going to wear a pair of salted gloves over the nitrile pair as well as a salted cotton overmask. In winter, a balaclava with a salted one laid over would protect the entire head when goggles are used as well. No one talks about ears as an entry point. If you touch something contaminated with your gloved hand and reach up to scratch your ear, there you go. Balaclava prevents access to the ears. People who have never done PPE before are going to make big mistakes.

I disagree. I use it in a nebulizer often for upper respiratory illnesses, and it takes care of them in a day or two.

My son once had what we thought was walking pneumonia. the Doc in the box couldn't see him till Monday. On Saturday, and Sunday, he did nebulizer treatments. On Monday when he went in, the Doc questioned him on why he had "Pockets of pneumonia", but otherwise his lungs were clear. He told the Doc about the nebulizer treatments, and he said, "Oh you are one of those" gave him an antibiotic script and sent him on his way.

I have used it internally for years.

Southside
He is just going by the best research he can find, your mileage may vary but the way SALT MASKS work, using this won't work in the same way. For the salt mask to work, it has to have salt (saturated salt) on the OUTSIDE LAYER of the mask.

As for the doctors being covered, the doctors and nurses are constantly exposed to very sick people and constantly at risk, they also have very limited supplies so if what they have are basically astronaut suits they are going to wear them as much as they can, even wearing adult diapers because they can't easily (or safely) get them on or off.

Again, NOTHING is perfect, especially not the things that most of us can make, buy or use in a practical manner but lowering risk is what this is all about - especially if you have to go out and/or care for a sick family member.

In their arguments against the AI generated data the doctors are saying the death rate is much lower because our data is reflecting those sick enough to be in the hospital. Well the crematorium rumors aren't matching the hospital data so in actuality the death rate may be higher in those not seeking hospital care. We really need better numbers.

The question I get asked the most: How much of what China is reporting on coronavirus is actually true? - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

The question I get asked the most: How much of what China is reporting on coronavirus is actually true?
ANALYSIS BY CHINA CORRESPONDENT BILL BIRTLESUPDATED ABOUT 7 HOURS AGO
Email Facebook Twitter WhatsApp
A security guard holds up his hands on a street in China
PHOTO
As the crisis continues, it's becoming more difficult to pinpoint government efforts to downplay the severity of the outbreak.

REUTERS: THOMAS PETER
Doctors reprimanded for "spreading rumours".
Multiple accounts of families in Wuhan with deceased relatives who never got tested.
An army of state media workers being sent to the epicentre to help "guide" public opinion about the outbreak.
They're the signs that have fuelled concerns that, 17 years after the Chinese Government's disastrous cover-up of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak, authorities may be engaged in similar practices.
Is it actually true?
It's the question people abroad ask me the most.
The evidence shows that in the initial weeks of the outbreak authorities in Wuhan reprimanded whistleblowers — including at least one doctor who contracted the virus – for alerting others to the danger.
Officials also downplayed the severity of the virus, disastrously telling people it likely couldn't be transferred between humans, when they already had cases that strongly suggested it could, including the infection of 14 hospital workers.
A red government banner with yellow Chinese characters hangs on a black fence.
PHOTO A government banner in Beijing tells people to take "strong protection, reduce going out, don't panic, trust science and don't spread rumours".
ABC NEWS: BILL BIRTLES

But since those early missteps, it has become trickier to pinpoint efforts to downplay or obfuscate the severity of the outbreak.
China's top investigative journalistic outlets have been allowed leeway to report from the epicentre, and the whistleblowers have even been receiving some praise in state media.
What you need to know
What you need to know
Here's a rundown of all the facts about coronavirus, and how you can make sure you're protected.

A shortage of test kits and numerous reports of patients turned away, untested, from hospitals that were already full has helped form a general consensus on the ground that the official figures aren't keeping up with the real number of infections.
But even as testing has improved and the number of confirmed cases has skyrocketed, no-one believes authorities can accurately document new diagnoses for such a fast-spreading virus in real time — particularly one where some patients have spread it before showing symptoms.
The Chinese Government's centralised control for distributing the statistics is certainly playing a role in slowing down the release of information, a factor noted by the embattled Wuhan Mayor in an interview.
Government deploys journalists for 'public opinion guidance'

PHOTO Wuhan city and Hubei province are still regarded as the epicentre of the coronavirus and a priority for containment.
AP: DAKE KANG

In messages seen by the ABC, a specialist doctor who works in a major Beijing hospital warns people in an encrypted chat group that the outbreak in the capital is more serious than is being reported.
From Wuhan to Australia
From Wuhan to Australia
The deadly coronavirus is spreading across the globe, with no end in sight — here is a timeline of key events so far and what to expect next.

His choice of a foreign encrypted messaging app — instead of the far more popular WeChat — reflects rules that could see him disciplined for disseminating information through non-approved channels.
While such regulations could be seen to stifle and suppress information about the outbreak, they're not new, but a standard part of China's tightly controlled information system.
More intriguing is the announcement, trumpeted by state TV, that the Communist Party's Central Propaganda Department has dispatched 300 journalists to Wuhan and Hubei province.
According to state media, China's leader Xi Jinping has tasked them with "clear requirements" for "education and public opinion guidance", to "help win the battle to control the epidemic".
Again, "public opinion guidance" is a standard directive for journalists in China, but the fanfare around this media group has many wondering if information coming from non-government sources in the epicentre might start facing a clampdown.
Medical workers in protective suits move a coronavirus patient into an isolation ward.
PHOTO There's a general consensus on the ground that official figures aren't keeping up with the real number of infections.
AP: CHINATOPIX

On Wednesday, a local health commission official in Hubei described the outbreak as not just a disaster, but a "man-made" one, quoting conversations with doctors in Wuhan.
The post received 340,000 likes on the Twitter-like platform Weibo before disappearing.
It spread further in private groups on WeChat before being censored.
Will the Communist Party's assert its instinct for control?
The concern about censorship is heightened because China's Government is now less than one month away from its carefully crafted annual political showpiece — the National People's Congress, an event that brings thousands of delegates from across the country to the capital.
In the current crisis it's unthinkable that it could go ahead on time, but in normal circumstances it would be unthinkable that anything could be important enough to derail it.
We'll see in the coming days whether the brave journalists of relatively independent media outlets Caijing, Caixin and others continue publishing investigative reports from Wuhan.
Or if the Communist Party's instinct for control of the narrative takes priority.
Jeremy Fernandez will host a 30-minute special on coronavirus on Friday, February 7 from 7.30pm AEDT on News Channel, featuring a guest panel, explainers on how the virus unfolded and myth-busting the misinformation. The special will be repeated on ABC TV at 10pm

If it’s bad enough I’m wearing masks here in the US, then I won’t be going out everyday.

I agree. My concern is having to keep going to work when it might be in the area, otherwise I'm also staying home. If I can rotate between 10-14 masks for myself, that will free up other masks that I could send as part of a care package to family who may need them. The care package would be ~10 masks with the exhaust valve and ~10 with no valve (for sick people), a box or 2 of gloves, and 1-2 pair of chem-lab goggles along with instructions on how to use it all.

This is also a thought exercise. What if I only used time (1-2 wk) and room-temp air to allow reuse of a mask, would it work?

I was thinking of making a couple of pre filters using actived charcoal ground to a powder and sewn between two fine cotton sheets of cloth .
Unless you are trying to absorb an organic vapor or similar, the activated charcoal would likely just make it harder to breathe through the mask. I'd go with a salt-soaked layer of cloth if you want a pre-filter. At least there is Melodi's husband Nightwolf, with a doctors medical training, saying that the salt will kill the coronavirus.

edit: update to clarify Nightwolf is not an official MD, just effectively one :)

It is quite concerning if they or anyone decides to get proactive in pushing this virus out to others. If the muslims decide this is a martyr opportunity, watch out. The damage they could do is unquantifiable. One sick person who purposely hits the crowdest places in a mid size city, then moves on to the next mid size city, perhaps stopping at a few convenience stores along the way.........could spread this virus across a state, or even further. One sick person who has evil in his heart. It's like the guy who gets the death sentence via a cancer diagnosis and decides it's time to settle some scores.

Nightwolf did several years of medical school but for personal reasons did not graduate - he is a "doctor" but his P.h.d. is in Old Norse studies.

But he is a registered herbalist (he did that before medical school) and his father (an internationally known doctor and researcher) has him writing medical research papers (Nightwolf) and he is working with his Dad on a primary website for use in medical schools as a research platform.

Basically the reason he didn't finish (without going into details) is that modern medicine now allows mature students but they haven't changed much in terms of the rather brutal last two years of residency were staying up for 48 to 72 hours is often routine (even in Europe where it isn't supposed to happen) and many people past their 40s that might make great doctors just can't do that and stay well.

It took a couple of long hospital stays but he decided to go back to writing and that includes medical research as well as fiction.

If they get a real PA (Physicians Assistant) program at the university near us (the only one so far is in Dublin) he may consider that, depending on the courses.

But basically he's had all the classes one gets in medical school and then some, he also delivered babies, worked on cancer wards etc before the last illness threw him for a loop.

Hope that helps, I know the "Dr. Stephan Grundy" aka Nightwolf is confusing.

There is some evidence that some people are "cured". Since I have little faith in the medical profession, my belief is that they were cured because they were able to survive long enough for their body to eradicate the disease.
There is also some evidence that not everyone who gets the virus gets a serious case that requires hospitalization. If there is a 14 percent death rate, then that means there is an 86 percent survival rate.
And there are proactive measures you can take to enhance your luck.

Without making a long list they are the same as any other virus.
Hygiene and sanitation
Good daily health
Care in food prep
Avoiding people and places
Vitamin supplements
Preparing in advance

Denial is not just a river in Egypt. Acknowledging the threat is not the same as giving up.

Harbor Freight still has nitrile gloves in stock. I know that the discussion has revolved around masks, but nitrile gloves are also an important measure to take to avoid infection along with social distancing.

Even though there are no dogs in the dog park doesn't mean you're not going to step in a steaming pile of poop if you walk through. Same thing applies to a virus since you don't know where it has been deposited by an infected individual.

Has this been posted yet? Might explain why the virus isn't exploding in European-ancestry populations (if the ACE2 observation from last week is valid):

Regardless of that...

The most recent airlift of U.S. citizens from Wuhan appears to be taking the virus pretty seriously:

That's BSL4 gear. Makes you wonder if the last flight sickened some of the medical staff, or, if they have new data. Or, if the person behind the megaphone is Asian, and the ACE2 thing is legit.

What kind of plane are they on? A C-17 or something? The interior space is huge.

On another note, something triggered in me when I saw the graph above, in conjunction with a number of nibbles by the CCP that perhaps we attacked them. Paraphased, Sun Tzu said "When Weak, appear Strong. When Strong, appear Weak".

Right now, what end of the spectrum does it look like the Chinese find themselves? What would an apparently "weak" China do if they had built a narrative that they had been attacked?

And don't forget that the "death" rates are NOT reflective of "cornoavirus" only---the Chinese are OFTEN reporting only the IMMEDIATE cause of death---so we have:
Death from Coronavirus- X
Death from HEART FAILURE -- (actually complication of Coronavirus) -- 1.5 times X
Death from nervous system failure (the sudden 'face-plant' deaths--complication of Coronavirus) -- 1/5-2 times X
Death from PNEUMONIA -- (another complication of Coronavirus) - 2-3 times X

THOSE deaths are NOT being reported as a result of Coronavirus--but they ARE.

Food for thought or discussion:

"What Were We Thinking?"

www.zerohedge.com
2 mins read
Authored by Charles Hugh Smith via OfTwoMinds blog,
Will we wonder, what were we thinking? and marvel anew at the madness of crowds?

When we look back on this moment from the vantage of history, what will we think? Will we think how obvious it was that the coronavirus deaths in China were in the tens of thousands rather than the hundreds claimed by authorities?
Will we think how obvious it was that the virus would spread around the globe, wreaking havoc on the global economy and social order, even as the authorities claimed only a handful of cases had arisen outside China?
Will we be amazed at the delusional confidence that the U.S. economy would be untouched by the virus as stock markets quickly soared to new all-time highs while the world's largest economy ground to a halt in a desperate attempt to close the barn door after the horses had already escaped?
Will we look back at the patently false data being promoted by authorities and wonder why the majority accepted it all as credible?
Will we re-examine all the smartphone videos posted on the web by average people and wonder why all the lies were given more credibility than actual videos?
Will we recall how content that didn't parrot the approved narrative that everything was under control and the global impact would be near-zero was suppressed, banned, de-platformed or marginalized? Will we wonder at the complacency of all those who accepted this orchestrated suppression with such obedient passivity?
Will we look back at the claim that only twelve people in the entire U.S. had the virus, despite all the direct flights from Wuhan and the tens of thousands of people who'd traveled from China to the U.S. in January, and marvel at our credulity?
Will we look back at the wreckage left in the wake of the coordinated campaign to suppress the facts and lay the responsibility for all the carnage on the authorities who devoted more energy to hiding the realities of the pandemic than to preparing us for the impact?
Will we ponder the incredible grip of mass delusion on the human mind when we recall the confidence that the U.S. economy was invulnerable to the virus and the implosion of China, and the blithe quasi-religious faith that central banks would never let global stock markets decline even 2%?
Will we wonder how the mainstream could watch the Chinese economy shutting down and still remain absolutely confident that the global economy would be untouched as the spot of bother was sure to evaporate in a week or two and all would be restored to pre-virus euphoria?
Will we wonder what were we thinking? and marvel anew at the madness of crowds? Will we wonder why we embraced the delusion so readily, and relive the moment when the gate to reality creaked open? Will we relive our realization that we'd embraced an absurd fantasy floating on a tissue of lies, or will we bury that painful moment of truth?

Update (1100ET): Is this the WHO's "Mission Accomplished?"
During a press conference in Switzerland Thursday evening, Dr. Tedros, the WHO's director-general, thanked the Gates Foundation (which committed $100 million) and Japan (which contributed $10 million) for answering the organization's call for more funding to help suppress the coronavirus outbreak that has now claimed more than 560 lives, mostly in China. He also claimed that the number of new and suspected cases is finally starting to slow, a sign that the outbreak could be subsiding, and that the China-led response has been a success.
Though researchers have already mapped the virus's DNA and are already working on a remedy, there is still a lot we don't know about the virus, Dr. Tedros said. We don't know where it came from (though there are theories) and we don't 100% understand how it spreads. There are also many tools we don't have, like a vaccine, that will hopefully soon be developed. In effect, "we're shadow-boxing with the virus," Dr. Tedros said. "We need to bring it into the light."
The organization continued to sidestep questions about China's censorship and its initial reluctance to share information about the outbreak with the international community.
Responding to a reporter's question, the WHO rep confirmed that the doctor who was one of the first to detect the virus before being ignored and eventually sickened has now died.
Dr. Li Wenliang, the Chinese whistleblower doctor who warned the public of a potential "SARS-like" disease in December 2019, succumbed to the virus in Wuhan on Thursday, the WHO said.

Thousands of athletes around the world breathed a sigh of relief on Thursday when Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe confirmed that the Summer Olympics in Tokyo won't be delayed. Then again, if the outbreak continues to worsen in Japan and the broader region, who is going to want to come if they don't feel safe?
As the second week of global pandemic panic comes to a close, China, increasingly frustrated that their ruse with the WHO didn't manage to calm the international community, again registered its "strong objections" to the growing number of travel bans directed at its citizens.

The warning followed a decision by Taiwan's health authority to ban all international cruise ships from docking at the island from Thursday as the number of suspected outbreaks aboard cruise ships grows.
The global death toll has ticked higher, reaching 566 overnight, while the total number of confirmed cases has broken above 28,000 to 28,384.

More than a dozen countries have imposed some kind of restriction on foreigners who have recently visited China. Within China, images of police clad in hazmat suites and touting infrared thermometers have become frighteningly common. Many airlines cancelled passenger routes to China, and some are extending those cancellations out to March or April.
"China is strongly concerned and dissatisfied," said a spokeswoman for China's Foreign Ministry. "We hope relevant countries will bear in mind overall relations and people’s interests and resume normal operation of flights to guarantee normal people-to-people exchange and cooperation."
"I must stress that certain countries’ ill-advised decisions to suspend flights to and from China are neither cool-headed nor rational," she added.
But while Beijing tries to spin the narrative to accuse other countries of racism, some brave journalists have shared the stories of families brave - or foolish - enough to speak out against the regime.
One resident of Wuhan who has been stuck in the city since the quarantine told the BBC that his uncle died in a quarantine because of supply shortages.
The image of life in Wuhan is every bit as bad as the most chilling conspiracies would have you believe.
"My uncle actually died in one of the quarantine points because there are no medical facilities for people with severe symptoms. I really hope my father can get some proper treatment but no-one is in contact with us or helping us at the moment."
"I got in touch with community workers several times, but the response I got was, 'there's no chance of us getting a bed in the hospital.'"
Beijing, which just announced a spate of new treatment-related projects in Wuhan and the surrounding area, seemingly can't get beds online fast enough. Because the government is literally condemns some elderly patients to die in their homes.
But for people like us, we can't even get a bed now, let alone get one in the new hospitals.
If we follow the government's guidelines, the only place we can go now is to those quarantine points. But if we went, what happened to my uncle would then happen to dad.
So we'd rather die at home.
Many are saying that if they knew authorities would lock down Wuhan last week, they would have left for the holiday earlier.
What I want to say is, if I knew they were going to lock down the city on 23 January, I would have definitely taken my whole family out, because there's no help here.
If we were somewhere else, there might be hope. I don't know whether people like us, who listened to the government and stayed in Wuhan, made the right decision or not.
In news from outside China, Indonesia is reportedly planning to build a quarantine center on an uninhabited island to isolate coronavirus victims, even though Indonesia has yet to record a single case of the virus, though 243 have been quarantined on the island of Natuna.
Across the globe, health officials are racing to develop treatments and testing methods for the virus. Wuhan, ground zero of the outbreak, opened an emergency test laboratory on Wednesday to begin human trials.

Over in Hong Kong, a top public health official has declared a community outbreak, according to the SCMP.
A day after the city government revealed that it would impose a mandatory 14-day quarantine on anybody crossing into Hong Kong from China, the city government has provided some more details on how it will combat the crisis. Most of the new cases in the city are being caused by human-to-human transmission. Six people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus over the past few days, five of whom had not left the city recently. Of the 21 cases in total, eight are believed to have no travel history relevant to the coronavirus.
Circling back to the mainland, local authorities in the city of Tianjin announced on Thursday that it would ban the exit and entry of its villages and compounds, becoming the latest city to essentially quarantine its entire population. Over in Wuhan, authorities are now demanding that all residents report their temperatures at least once per day.
So, that's 60+ million people under quarantine in China. And though the pace of new cases in the country has slowed slightly, the virus is accelerating, especially in Asia.

They don't have the latest case in the US posted - it's now 12.

And don't forget that the "death" rates are NOT reflective of "cornoavirus" only---the Chinese are OFTEN reporting only the IMMEDIATE cause of death---so we have: (my estimates--just from what I've read--not official)

Joseph Goebbels: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

I do not think they could somehow infect the bills and then distribute them fast enough for the virus to still be viable. I'm quite sure any government could spread a virus much more effectively than using counterfeit dollar bills.

Hope your right. I once buried some bills in a air tight PVC pipe. Six months later and they was even greener, but the green, gray and black fuzzy mold was truely disgusting and stinky. We had to wash them and clean them and they still stunk.

Just musing if they used the same type of paper, that stuff holds germs bigly.

I posted this in a separate thread but somehow the link was messed up.
So I thought I'd post it here in the main Corona thread.

This is an interview with Dr. Francis Boyle. He is a professor of International Law at University of Illinois and he wrote the US Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989, the American implementing legislation for the 1972 Biological Weapons Convention.

He is extremely concerned.
