How A Year Of Unfounded, Contradictory CDC Guidelines Destroyed That Agency’s Credibility Forever

Will Americans ever be able to trust the CDC again after the agency mismanaged, lied, and bent to politics of this moment?

Madeline Osburn

By Madeline Osburn
MAY 14, 2021

No other government agency has accelerated its own demise in the last year faster than the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It’s stuffed to the brim with scientists and doctors and virologists, yet instead of rising to the occasion of a global pandemic, the bureaucracy shattered its reputation and credibility beyond repair.

As Americans slowly learned more about the novel virus and its risks over the course of the last year, they looked to the CDC for expert guidance. The agency responded by only confusing Americans, issuing guidance that not only contradicted their own previous guidelines but also the very thing they claim to represent: science.

‘Do Not Wear Masks’
The warning signs of the agency’s incompetency began at the onset of the pandemic in March 2020. We should have known the experts did not always put the science first in advising Americans on how to live their lives when we learned they instructed us not to wear face coverings, not based on scientific evidence, but out of fear of mask shortages.

“If you are NOT sick, you do not need to wear a facemask unless you are caring for someone who is sick (and they are not able to wear a facemask),” the CDC said, citing the “short supply.”

This guidance set aside what we knew even then, that you can contract COVID-19 without realizing it, even carry it while asymptomatic. Multiple studies published in January, February, and March documented asymptomatic transmission, but they ignored those, putting vulnerable individuals at risk anyway. It wasn’t until April that the agency suddenly reversed course and began encouraging everyone to wear face coverings.

Undermining the Efficacy of the Vaccine
On Thursday, the CDC finally announced what they should have been saying for the last three months: If you are vaccinated, you do not need to wear a mask, social distance, or continue living your life in fear of COVID-19.

It’s unclear why they have been saying otherwise since the vaccine has become widely available to all Americans, but by doing so, they undermined the efficacy of the vaccine and further discouraged individuals who are hesitant to receive it.

Why get the vaccine if the CDC says your life will not return to “normal” anyway?

These mixed messages were most often delivered by CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, who would constantly praise the modern miracle of the vaccine’s efficacy, then immediately undermined that news with instructions on why you should still follow all the same precautions as when not vaccinated. In just one example from April, Walensky said vaccinated individuals can now travel safely, but that the CDC would not recommend it.

“While we believe that fully vaccinated people can travel at low risk to themselves, CDC is not recommending travel at this time due to the rising number of cases,” she said.

In another recent example, less than a week before issuing Thursday’s guidance that lifts mask-wearing and social distancing for vaccinated individuals, the CDC issued guidance for kids’ summer camps. Even though children are at significantly lower risk and every adult at camp will have had the opportunity to be vaccinated, the CDC says “all people in camp facilities should wear masks at all times.” That’s all adults, staff, and campers over the age of two.

Contradicting Guidance for Pregnant Women
In another blunder by Walensky, the CDC walked back her statement regarding one of the most vaccine-hesitant groups: pregnant women. The “CDC recommends that pregnant people receive the COVID-19 vaccine,” Walensky said in late April, only to have her agency clarify that its guidelines for pregnant women haven’t changed since they were announced in March.

Those guidelines state that “if you are pregnant, you may choose to receive a COVID-19 vaccine” but caution pregnant women to weigh the risks posed by vaccination and the virus against one another. The guidelines do not explicitly “recommend” that pregnant women get vaccinated.

Contradicting, Unfounded, and Corrupt Guidance for Schools
If confusing pregnant women wasn’t bad enough, Walensky pulled a similar flip flop on the “science” of how to safely distance children in schools.

Last July, a Massachusetts school district was trying to figure out to safely reopen their schools. The mayor of Newton emailed Harvard’s chief of infectious diseases on whether she had thoughts on separating kids six feet versus the World Health Organization’s recommended three feet. The professor replied:
I do think if people are masked it is quite safe and much more practical to be at 3 feet. I think this is very viable for the middle/high schools and even late grade schools and would improve the feasibility. I suspect you may want to be at 6f for some of the very young kids who can’t mask.
That professor was Rochelle Walensky. When she became CDC director in January this year, however, three feet suddenly became unsafe again. She recommended “physical distancing of at least 6 feet between people with cohorting or podding of students to minimize exposure across the school environment.”

But perhaps a bigger issue than retracting or changing guidance is issuing guidance that is not based on science at all. In school guidance, the CDC recommends all adults and students over the age of two wear masks at all times, even outside. The CDC admits shared recreational equipment like playgrounds, jungle gyms, swing sets, and tricycles “are important for healthy child development,” but maintains they still “pose a risk for spreading COVID-19.”
The agency simply ignores facts like children being an extremely low-risk population. So far, fewer than 300 children and teenagers have died of COVID-19 in the U.S. total. On average, 700 U.S. children die each year by drowning. An average of 12,175 children die each year from an unintentional injury like car accidents.

The CDC’s guidance seems to imply it is more concerned about the slim chance that a child dies from COVID-19 than they are children’s general wellbeing and development. They also ignore facts that pertain to adults and teachers in schools, again undermining the fact that the vaccine appears to reduce COVID-19 deaths almost entirely.

Finally, a few weeks ago we learned that the CDC isn’t just ignoring what we know from scientific studies and vaccine trials, but actively seeking input from non-scientific players who also have a vested interest in school guidance: teachers unions. Watchdog group Americans for Public Trust obtained emails between top CDC officials, White House officials, and representatives for the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).

Emails show AFT lobbied the CDC just days before it issued its school guidance in February. “In at least two instances, language ‘suggestions’ offered by the union were adopted nearly verbatim into the final text of the CDC document,” the New York Post reports. When asked how this was defensible, the White House press secretary stood behind it as a “longstanding best practice.”

There is surely good and important work being done by the actual scientists and experts at the CDC, so it’s a true shame, and to the detriment of our entire country, that their work will be completely overshadowed by how those at the top mismanaged, lied, and bent to politics of this moment. Walensky, and the officials below her as well as those who preceded her in 2020, destroyed the credibility of the entire organization, giving Americans no reason to trust any of their baseless guidance ever again.

How COVID masks created a ‘PSYCHOLOGICAL CONDITION’ to fear others
•May 14, 2021

Glenn Beck

BlazeTV host Dave Rubin joins Glenn in-studio to discuss the CDC’s new recommendation that Americans who have received the COVID vaccine no longer need to wear masks outdoors OR indoors, or socially distance. But this new development should NOT erase how the left exploited masks to make half the American population feel less than human. In fact, Dave Rubin says, they used masks to ‘inflict a psychological condition on us’ to fear others. They’ve been shaming and side-eying conservatives for over a year now, arguing the right doesn’t care to protect others. Rubin says it’s all because conservatives value freedom and liberty while the left values power and control…

Informed consent disclosure to vaccine trial subjects of risk of COVID-19 vaccines worsening clinical disease
Timothy Cardozo 1, Ronald Veazey 2

Abstract
Aims of the study: Patient comprehension is a critical part of meeting medical ethics standards of informed consent in study designs. The aim of the study was to determine if sufficient literature exists to require clinicians to disclose the specific risk that COVID-19 vaccines could worsen disease upon exposure to challenge or circulating virus.

Methods used to conduct the study: Published literature was reviewed to identify preclinical and clinical evidence that COVID-19 vaccines could worsen disease upon exposure to challenge or circulating virus. Clinical trial protocols for COVID-19 vaccines were reviewed to determine if risks were properly disclosed.

Results of the study: COVID-19 vaccines designed to elicit neutralising antibodies may sensitise vaccine recipients to more severe disease than if they were not vaccinated. Vaccines for SARS, MERS and RSV have never been approved, and the data generated in the development and testing of these vaccines suggest a serious mechanistic concern: that vaccines designed empirically using the traditional approach (consisting of the unmodified or minimally modified coronavirus viral spike to elicit neutralising antibodies), be they composed of protein, viral vector, DNA or RNA and irrespective of delivery method, may worsen COVID-19 disease via antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE). This risk is sufficiently obscured in clinical trial protocols and consent forms for ongoing COVID-19 vaccine trials that adequate patient comprehension of this risk is unlikely to occur, obviating truly informed consent by subjects in these trials.

Conclusions drawn from the study and clinical implications: The specific and significant COVID-19 risk of ADE should have been and should be prominently and independently disclosed to research subjects currently in vaccine trials, as well as those being recruited for the trials and future patients after vaccine approval, in order to meet the medical ethics standard of patient comprehension for informed consent.

REVIEW: COVID-19 Vaccines May Lead To Prion-Linked Brain Degeneration Similar To Mad Cow Disease

Researchers published a review that sounds the alarm about potential unintended COVID-19 vaccine side effects

REVIEW: COVID-19 Vaccines May Lead To Prion-Linked Brain Degeneration Similar To Mad Cow Disease

A new review of possible unintended consequences of COVID-19 vaccines suggests that the controversial mRNA vaccines – Moderna and Pfizer – may lead to unexpected neurological conditions similar to Mad Cow Disease.

The review by Stephanie Seneff, who works at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at MIT, and Dr. Nigh, who specializes in Naturopathic Oncologogy at Immerson Health in Portland, Oregon, was released this week in the International Journal of Vaccine Theory, Practice, and Research, and devotes a considerable space to discussing the research of Dr. J. Bart Classen, who first published a research paper on the possibility of prion-linked brain degeneration caused by the COVID-19 vaccine last month, and expands on his research.

The researchers explain that “researchers have identified a signature motif linked to susceptibility to misfolding into toxic oligomers, called the glycine zipper motif. It is characterized by a pattern of two glycine residues spaced by three intervening amino acids, represented as GxxxG. The bovine prion linked to MADCOW has a spectacular sequence of ten GxxxGs in a row,” and notes that “the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein is a transmembrane protein, and that it contains five GxxxG motifs in its sequence” and, thus, “it becomes extremely plausible that it could behave as a prion”.

“Recall that the mRNA vaccines are designed with an altered sequence that replaces two adjacent amino acids in the fusion domain with a pair of prolines,” the authors continue. “This is done intentionally in order to force the protein to remain in its open state and make it harder for it to fuse with the membrane.

This seems to us like a dangerous step towards misfolding potentially leading to prion disease.”

Prions were first described as the method by which Mad Cow Disease causes brain degeneration due to misfolding proteins in the body. The CDC notes that “prion diseases are usually rapidly progressive and always fatal.” Mad Cow Disease “progressively attacks the brain but can remain dormant for decades,” per the BBC.

“Pfizer claims the RNA fragments ‘likely… will not result in expressed proteins’ due to their assumed rapid degradation in the cell,” the researchers note. They add, “While we are not asserting that non-spike proteins generated from fragmented RNA would be misfolded or otherwise pathological, we believe they would at least contribute to cellular stress that promotes prion-associated conformational changes in the spike protein that is present.”

When Classen previously published his research, fact checkers were quick to point to public statements from Pfizer that dismissed concerns of brain prions as a result of their vaccine. It may be worth noting that “the most expensive settlement that Pfizer has paid was over $2.3 billion paid as a fine to resolve civil and criminal penalties for illegal marketing of four medications including Bextra, Geodon, Zyvox, and Lyrics.”

REPORT: Pfizer Vaccine Confirmed To Cause Neurodegenerative Diseases – Study

A new report has determined the Pfizer vaccine may cause Alzheimer's and other conditions

REPORT: Pfizer Vaccine Confirmed To Cause Neurodegenerative Diseases – Study

In a shocking new report on the COVID-19 vaccines, it has been discovered that the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine may have long term health effects not previously disclosed, including “ALS, Alzheimer’s, and other neurological degenerative diseases.”

“The current RNA based SARSCoV-2 vaccines were approved in the US using an emergency order without extensive long term safety testing,” the report declares. “In this paper the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine was evaluated for the potential to induce prion-based disease in vaccine recipients.” Prion-based diseases are, according to the CDC, a form of neurodegenerative diseases, meaning that the Pfizer vaccine is potentially likely to cause long term damage and negative health effects with regards to the brain.

This is especially concerning since the Pfizer vaccine is an mRNA vaccine, an untested type of vaccine which creates new proteins and can actually integrate into the human genome, according to a report from the National Library of Medicine. In other words, degenerative brain conditions may appear at any time in your life after receiving the vaccine.

“The RNA sequence of the vaccine as well as the spike protein target interaction were analyzed for the potential to convert intracellular RNA binding proteins TAR DNA binding protein (TDP-43) and Fused in Sarcoma (FUS) into their pathologic prion conformations,” explains the report. TDP-43 is a protein known to cause dementia, ALS and even Alzheimer’s, according to Alzpedia. Similarly, the FUS protein is known to cause ALS and Hereditary Essential Tremors, according to the Human Genome Database.

The experiment done for the report was to determine whether or not these two harmful proteins embed themselves into our DNA, as an mRNA vaccine is expected to do. The report determined that “the vaccine RNA has specific sequences that may induce TDP-43 and FUS to fold into their pathologic prion confirmations,” meaning that both proteins have the potential to embed themselves into our DNA and cause harmful neurological diseases.

The report’s abstract summary concludes that “The enclosed finding as well as additional potential risks leads the author to believe that regulatory approval of the RNA based vaccines for SARS-CoV-2 was premature and that the vaccine may cause much more harm than benefit.” The report itself ends with this warning: “The vaccine could be a bioweapon and even more dangerous than the original infection.”

National File actually reached out to the CDC to inquire as to why the Pfizer vaccine is still being distributed despite these credible allegations. No response was received prior to publication.

Thank You for these last 3 articles. All contain very important information and reinforce our decision to stand firm and not bend to pressure by any entity to take the shot.

I truly hope that all these studies are not true...unfortunately, we only in the early stages of this situation. I fear for all these who have placed their bodies, immune systems, and their futures in the hands of these who have proven that they are not worthy of such trust. (big pharma, etc.)

What About Listening to the Science? States and Companies Won't Commit to CDC Guidelines Granting More Freedom

While it's encouraging that the CDC caught up with the science enough to acknowledge that "if you are fully vaccinated, you are protected," and thus has relaxed mask mandates.

That being said, Reagan acknowledged in her reporting that "Fully vaccinated individuals are still required to abide by local, state, and federal mask-wearing mandates."

Of course, but if you still wear a mask after you've been fully vaccinated, that really should be your only reason for doing so.

It's frustrating, then, that Thursday night's most recent live update from the New York Times' reporting on the CDC's announcement would be that "C.D.C. Guidance Prompts Caution in Some States." From the NYT reporting, with added emphasis:
On Thursday, the governors of Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Virginia, and the mayors of New York City and Washington, D.C., all Democrats, said they were taking the new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention under advisement before adopting it. In deference to local authorities, the C.D.C. said vaccinated people must continue to abide by existing state, local, or tribal laws and regulations, and follow local rules for businesses and workplaces.
Particularly rich was the quote attributed to embattled Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY). "Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York said that the state had “always relied on the facts and the science to guide us throughout the worst of this pandemic” and that he would review the new federal guidelines with the state Health Department and health experts in neighboring states."

The numerous scandals which have led into different investigations Gov. Cuomo is facing suggest it's something other than "the facts and the science." This includes when it comes to the cover-up of accurate reporting of nursing home deaths from the virus and that the governor may have given his friends and family preferential access to COVID tests in the early days of the pandemic.
It's not merely states, but companies:
The new policy seemed to catch many retailers and their workers by surprise. Macy’s, Target and the Gap said they were still reviewing the new guidance, while Home Depot said it had no plans to change its current rules requiring customers and workers to wear masks in its stores.

The United Food and Commercial Workers union, representing thousands of grocery store workers, criticized the C.D.C. for failing to consider how the new policy would impact workers who have to deal with customers who are not vaccinated. “Millions of Americans are doing the right thing and getting vaccinated, but essential workers are still forced to play mask police for shoppers who are unvaccinated and refuse to follow local Covid safety measures,” the union’s president, Marc Perrone, said in a statement. “Are they now supposed to become the vaccination police?”

The Retail Leaders Industry Association, a trade group, said that the policy complicated matters in states that still have mask mandates in place that retailers must follow. “These conflicting positions put retailers and their employees in incredibly difficult situations,” the group said in a statement.
The update also claims that the commonsense, backed up by science update "was a sharp turnabout for federal health officials." People have been wearing masks for so long, and still have to even while fully vaccinated, would beg to differ.
.
The CDC has been super slow when it comes to updating their guidelines. What more time do states and companies who refuse to jump on board need, then? If they're not going to be listening to the CDC, who are they going to be listening to? What left is there to review?

It's time to embrace not only science, but freedom.

Additional clot cases tied to Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine: CDC
CDC reported 28 total clotting cases amid a backdrop of over 8.7 million J&J vaccine recipients

An official with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced more than two dozen total blood clot cases in individuals who received Johnson & Johnson’s one-shot COVID-19 vaccine amid a backdrop of 8.7 million recipients.

Dr. Tom Shimabukuro with the CDC COVID-19 vaccine task force noted 28 total cases of so-called thrombosis with thrombocytopenia (TTS) following J&J vaccination reported through a national surveillance system, Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). TTS is a broad term including the rare but potentially deadly cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST), but also deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary thromboembolism.

The update marks an increase from a previously reported 17 instances in late April, when the agency was investigating two new cases of a rare, severe blood clot that occurred alongside low platelets in Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine recipients, in addition to 15 previously reported TTS cases.

The federal health agency said the current evidence suggests a possible causal link to the J&J COVID-19 vaccine.

In the update Wednesday, Shimabukuro noted 25 so-called Tier 1 TTS cases (clots in rare, unusual locations, like the brain) and three so-called Tier 2 TTS cases (clots in common locations), as of May 7. All of the patients were vaccinated prior to the national recommended pause on April 13, he said. Most of the patients were women, though six cases were among men.

More specifically, 19 of the 28 cases involved rare but serious blood clotting in the brain called cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, or CVST. None of the patients were pregnant, which can lead to a heightened clotting risk.

Shimabukuro presented data indicating females aged 30 to 39 had the highest reporting rates of TTS at 12.4 cases per million doses administered, though females aged 40 to 49 had the "most pronounced" increase in cases; the reporting rate in this age group is 9.4 clot cases per million doses administered.

No confirmed clotting cases have occurred after more than 135 million administered doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, nor after over 110 million doses administered of Moderna’s jab. Officials say the mRNA vaccines are not associated with an increased clotting risk post-vaccination.

Though more than 1.2 million J&J doses have been administered since the national rollout resumed, CDC officials say the vaccines are being administered to females but in a smaller proportion.

There were no additional deaths since the three reported deaths following the CDC committee’s meeting in April. However, four patients remain hospitalized with one in intensive care, two patients were discharged to a post-acute care facility and 19 patients were discharged home.

The advisory committee on April 23 recommended that the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine resume rollout, but include new language on the product’s emergency use authorization (EUA) warning remote risks of serious blood clots.

OSHA Tells Employers They May Be Liable For 'Any Adverse Reactions' If They Mandate Covid Shots

Chris Menahan

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is informing employers that it's possible they could be held liable for "any adverse reactions" if they mandate employees take COVID-19 vaccines "as a condition of their employment."

From LifeSite, "Employers may be liable for 'any adverse reaction' from mandated coronavirus shots: OSHA":

This is just common sense but common sense is in short supply these days.

OSHA has a disclaimer at the bottom of their FAQ stating that their guidance "is not a standard or regulation, and it creates no new legal obligations."

"The recommendations are advisory in nature, informational in content, and are intended to assist employers in providing a safe and healthful workplace."

The notion employers could require their employees to get experimental shots at all is outrageous.

OSHA Imposes New Guidance For Employer-Required COVID-19 Vaccines
Contractors criticize mandate to classify adverse reactions as recordable safety incidents

Jeff Yoders
May 3, 2021

New guidance from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is causing contractors to change their COVID-19 vaccine requirements, and many of them criticize the guidance as diametrically opposed to the Biden administration's stated desire to increase vaccinations.

On April 20, OSHA released the new guidance in the frequently asked questions section of its website for COVID-19 safety compliance.

The question asks whether an employer should record adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccination if the employer requires the vaccine. OSHA states that if a vaccine is required, then any adverse reaction is considered work-related and therefore it must be recorded. Under OSHA rules, most employers with more than 10 employees are required to keep a record of serious work-related injuries and illnesses. Recorded injuries and illnesses become part of a contractors safety record.

This is the actual text of the new question and answer on the OSHA website:

"If I require my employees to take the COVID-19 vaccine as a condition of their employment, are adverse reactions to the vaccine recordable?

"If you require your employees to be vaccinated as a condition of employment (i.e., for work-related reasons), then any adverse reaction to the COVID-19 vaccine is work-related. The adverse reaction is recordable if it is a new case under 29 CFR 1904.6 and meets one or more of the general recording criteria in 29 CFR 1904.7."

In response, several large contractors said they have changed or will change their vaccination policy to only recommend—not require—a vaccine.

"We, sadly, had to back off our (employee vaccination) mandate because OSHA did something I don't understand at all," said Bob Clark, founder and executive chairman of Clayco in a recent ENR Critical Path podcast. "I side with OSHA frequently, we're in its VIP program, but on this they're just wrong. It's a terrible decision they've made and I think it'll be overturned."

Clark said Clayco, which participated in crafting the initial Centers for Disease Control guidance on construction site safety during the pandemic, would be communicating with OSHA through members of congress to seek changes to the guidance. A spokeswoman for OSHA did not immediately return messages asking for clarification of the new guidance. Construction industry groups universally panned the guidance and said it would hurt their efforts to encourage employees to get vaccinated.

"What they put forward could potentially discourage employers from supporting their workers getting the vaccine," said Kevin Cannon, senior director of safety and health services at the Associated General Contractors of America. "AGC is not in support of any mandate, however we participated, April 19th through 23rd, in vaccine awareness week. We had a lot of members who were in chapters that supported the event. We even had some who hosted vaccine clinics on an active job site or in their offices."

Cannon said some member contractors may have changed their approach to those events had they known, at the time, they could potentially "be on the hook for recording these potential adverse reactions."

AGC is also concerned the rule puts contractors working on projects such as hospital expansions, where vaccination could potentially be an owner condition of being present on the site, in a difficult position.

Cannon said AGC has reached out to OSHA as part of the Construction Industry Safety Coalition, a group of 30 industry groups from all major types of construction, to give OSHA more context as to the burden the guidance places on contractors. AGC plans to submit a letter to the agency with chapter input to the agency.
'Caused Significant Confusion'

Donna Reichle, senior director of public affairs at the Associated Builders and Contractors said, "We agree OSHA has caused significant confusion with this guidance. Industry groups will be seeking clarification from the agency."

OSHA has been working for weeks on an all-industries COVID-19 emergency safety standard, which is now being reviewed by the Biden administration's Office of Management and Budget. Release of the final rule is believed to be coming soon. It is possible the new safety standard could preempt or replace the April 20 guidance to employers. It's unclear, at this point, if separate rules will be made for industries such as construction, where liability and risk are defined differently than in industries where work takes place in a company facility.

The number of overall COVID-19 hospitalizations and fatalities also greatly affects the recommendations CDC, OSHA and the various states have released. Cannon said the current guidance, if left unchanged, has the potential to undo months of industry work to encourage vaccination of construction workers.

"It's almost like they haven't talked to the rest of the Biden administration about the goal of getting as many people vaccinated as possible," said Brian Turmail, AGC vice president of public affairs.

“Dr. Anthony Fauci Seems to be Still Funding Gain of Function Research…The Chinese Military Is Involved In This Research” – Dr. Lawrence Sellin

By Joe Hoft

Dr. Lawrence Sellin was on the War Room with Steve Bannon yesterday. The frequent contributo at The Gateway Pundit discussed the activities between China and the US related to COVID-19 and similar viruses.

On May 13, 2021, Lawrence Sellin had a wide-ranging discussion with Steve Bannon on his War Room program about Dr. Anthony Fauci’s funding of “gain of function” research, the laboratory origin of COVID-19 and the massive infiltration of U.S. virus research programs by China, in particular, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

Fauci’s funding of “gain of function” has gone beyond just experiments related to coronavirus, but appears to involve other, potentially more dangerous viruses. Sellin identified a 2020 study funded by Fauci involving “gain of function” research with far more deadly viruses attacking the brain and central nervous system.

Sellin provided indisputable evidence for the laboratory origin of COVID-19.
Finally, Sellin alerted War Room listeners regarding the massive infiltration of U.S. virus research programs by China, citing evidence that the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, not only actively collaborates with the Wuhan Institute of Virology, believed to be the laboratory origin of COVID-19, but conducts research together with scientists of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, some of whom appear to be linked to China’s biowarfare program.

Dr. Lawrence Sellin shared the following with Steve Bannon at the War Room:

Dr. Sellin then went on to discuss a paper explaining Dr. Fauci’s actions in changing a non-deadly virus to something deadly. Four of the five grants given to support the study were provided by Dr. Fauci’s government body.

Dr. Sellin comes on at the 31-minute mark in the video below:

What to Know About the Yankees’ Coronavirus Outbreak
Gleyber Torres is the eighth person (and the first player) from the Yankees organization to test positive for the coronavirus this week. All had been vaccinated.
By James Wagner
May 13, 2021

Gleyber Torres, the Yankees’ two-time All-Star shortstop, became the eighth person involved with the Yankees organization to test positive for the coronavirus this week, the team announced on Thursday. But what has caught the attention of many outside of the baseball world is that Torres, three coaches and four support staff members had all been fully vaccinated.

Torres played on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays, but he was held out of Wednesday’s game as his virus test results were pending. Before Thursday’s game, the team announced that Torres had a confirmed positive test. As a result, Torres might be away from the Yankees for 10 days based on the health and safety protocols negotiated by Major League Baseball and the players’ union.

Here’s what is going on:

What do we know?

The Yankees’ outbreak began on Sunday, when the team, after spending over a week in New York hosting home games, flew to Florida to play the Tampa Bay Rays and learned that Phil Nevin, their third base coach, had tested positive for the virus.

The Yankees began extensive virus testing on Monday, a scheduled day off, and put people deemed to have had close contact with Nevin into isolation. To be safe, and in consultation with a joint committee of M.L.B. and players’ union experts, the team also isolated a few employees who fell into a gray area.

Nevin initially had some symptoms but was considered symptom-free by Thursday, General Manager Brian Cashman said.

After Tuesday’s game, the Yankees announced that the number of confirmed positive results had grown to three. The two new people: the first base coach, Reggie Willits, who was already in isolation, and an unidentified support staff member.

Before Wednesday’s game, Manager Aaron Boone said those with confirmed positive tests had grown to seven: three coaches — the pitching coach, Matt Blake; Willits; and Nevin — plus four unidentified support staff members. A day later, Torres joined their ranks.

All eight people were in isolation in the Tampa area, either at the team hotel or in their own homes. The Yankees’ spring training complex is there, so some players and staff members have off-season homes in the area.

Everyone in the Yankees’ traveling party of 50 to 60 people is being tested three times a day using polymerase chain reaction, saliva and rapid tests. Thursday was the first day of no new positive test results since the outbreak began, Cashman said. “Maybe it’s slowing down,” he said.
ImagePhil Nevin, left, was the first member of the Yankees organization to test positive in this current coronavirus outbreak.

What is a breakthrough case?

The Yankees have called all eight instances “breakthrough positives.” According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a breakthrough case occurs when a fully vaccinated person contracts the virus. It said a small number of such cases would be expected despite the effectiveness of vaccines, because none of the vaccines are capable of preventing illness in 100 percent of cases.

“Even though a small percentage of fully vaccinated people will get sick, vaccination will protect most people from getting sick,” the C.D.C.’s website says. “There also is some evidence that vaccination may make illness less severe in people who get vaccinated but still get sick. Despite this, some fully vaccinated people will still be hospitalized and die.”

The C.D.C. said that as of April 26, of the more than 95 million people in the United States who had been fully vaccinated, it knew of 9,245 breakthrough infections. Of those, there were 835 hospitalizations and 132 deaths.

Beginning on Friday, though, the C.D.C. said it would change the way it reported breakthrough infections to only those who were hospitalized or died — the two most severe outcomes from contracting Covid-19. In other words, the Yankees’ cases wouldn’t fall under that category going forward.

How did this happen?

That was not immediately clear.

Even though several players across M.L.B. have been reluctant to be vaccinated, the Yankees had been enjoying relaxed health and safety protocols under rules negotiated by M.L.B. and the players’ union for reaching a threshold at which 85 percent of the team’s players and key personnel were fully vaccinated. In fact, Boone said on Thursday that the Yankees had very few people who weren’t vaccinated.

The rewards included, among other things, allowing the team to go without masks in the dugout and the bullpen, along with indoor dining and having visitors at the team hotel. The Yankees were growing more comfortable with this semblance of normal life but had reverted to stricter mask wearing and more distancing since the outbreak began.

When asked about a possible common thread among the positive cases, Cashman pointed to a long rain delay before a game at Yankee Stadium on Saturday and said that players had a much larger clubhouse space indoors to spread out in compared to what the coaches and the support staff had. A day later, the team flew to Tampa.

“I believe the variant that we’re dealing with has been pretty aggressive,” Cashman said, without identifying the variant.

(M.L.B., through its lab in Salt Lake City, has been sequencing all cases during the pandemic and had previously noticed the more contagious variant of the virus first identified in Britain that is now prevalent in the United States.)

Dr. Rochelle P. Walensky, the C.D.C.’s director, said on Thursday that the agency wanted to learn more about the Yankees’ outbreak. She pointed to the fact that six of the Yankees’ seven cases as of Wednesday were asymptomatic, suggesting that proved that the vaccine was indeed effective.

Cashman said M.L.B. was in touch with the C.D.C. and that the Yankees were working directly with the New York State Department of Health concerning their outbreak.

In a statement, the Department of Health said it had been in contact with M.L.B. and the Yankees to better understand the situation.

“While there have been anecdotal reports of New Yorkers who have had a positive Covid test 14 or more days after receiving their last vaccine dose,” the statement said, “D.O.H. is investigating those cases along with the ones linked to the Yankees further to determine if they meet the formal C.D.C. definition of vaccine breakthrough.”

Wait, they were all vaccinated?

Yes. All eight people received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, Cashman and a team spokesman said.

Nevin, along with Boone, received their single-dose vaccinations during spring training in March. Last month, the Yankees, via the Montefiore Medical Center, offered the Johnson & Johnson vaccine en masse to their players, coaches and staff members at Yankee Stadium. So those were different batches of the vaccine, in two different states, at different times.

“The J.&J. was what was provided, and obviously no complaints from that,” said Cashman, who said he had received the two-dose Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine because he was over 50.

In Torres’s case, not only was he fully vaccinated, according to the Yankees, but he had previously had Covid-19 in the off-season. Reinfection, the C.D.C. said, is rare.

Is the vaccine working?

Yes, Cashman said. Without virus testing, he said the team would perhaps never have known that seven of its asymptomatic employees had been infected.

“We are maybe a case study, to some degree, or curiosity for people who don’t know that despite being vaccinated you really are still potentially exposed,” he said. “We can educate people that your exposure is limited significantly, not to getting the virus but how the virus affects you.”

Further proof, he said: The only person who had symptoms, Nevin, no longer had them by Thursday.

“I take a lot of great comfort that that’s the purpose of the vaccine, to protect, and it appears to be doing that, despite still having the ability to spread,” he said, adding later, “It will save you and protect from a lot more than what you think.”

Virologist: NIAID grantee funded Wuhan coronavirus studies used in gain-of-function research

In a tense exchange Tuesday with Sen. Rand Paul, longtime NIAID Director Anthony Fauci categorically and repeatedly denied his institute has funded gain-of-function research.

By Daniel Payne
Updated: May 15, 2021 - 11:44am

Aprominent Columbia University virologist claims that in the years leading up to the COVID-19 pandemic a U.S. nonprofit funded coronavirus experiments in Wuhan, China the results of which were used in "gain-of-function" virology research at the University of North Carolina.

Dr. Vincent Racaniello made the claim amid ongoing controversy over a recently resurfaced interview between himself and Peter Daszak, the president of the U.S. infectious disease nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance.

Both EcoHealth Alliance and the scientist leading the research at UNC have been heavily funded over the years by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which has been directed since 1984 by Dr. Anthony Fauci, the public face of the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic under Presidents Trump and Biden.

Fauci categorically and repeatedly denied that NIAID has funded gain-of-function research in a tense exchange Tuesday with Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) at a Senate hearing.

Racianello's half-hour interview with Daszak took place in early December 2019 at the Nipah Virus International Conference in Singapore. Significant attention has been given to a segment in which Daszak appears to allude to having participated in "gain-of-function" experiments, a type of procedure in which scientists increase a virus's pathogenicity and/or transmissibility in order to study its potential for human infection.

"You can manipulate [coronaviruses] in the lab pretty easily," Daszak says in the interview. "Spike protein drives a lot of what happens with the coronavirus, zoonotic risk. So you can get the sequence, you can build the protein — and we work with Ralph Baric at UNC to do this — insert into the backbone of another virus, and do, do some work in the lab."

Those remarks, when they resurfaced this week, caused considerable controversy due to Daszak's role in funneling hundreds of thousands of dollars through his EcoHealth Alliance to the Wuhan Institute of Virology to bankroll coronavirus experiments there. The Wuhan lab sits just a few miles from where the first detected outbreak of COVID-19 occurred.

Speculation has swirled over the last year as to what role, if any, the Wuhan lab may have played in the origin of the pandemic, including whether it was engaging in any gain-of-function experiments that may have posed a pandemic risk.

Experiments 'confer a new property to the original virus'
Racaniello said that Daszak in the December 2019 interview was indeed describing gain-of-function experiments.

"Here is the idea," he said in an email exchange this week. "You go into caves in China and sample bats for CoVs. You collect bat guano and sequence it to find the viruses. You don’t actually have the viruses, just their genome sequences. You want to know if these viruses have the ability to infect human cells."

"Since you don't have the viruses," he continued, "you just take the spike sequence from all these viruses and put it into a coronavirus that you work with in the lab. Then you see if that recombinant coronavirus can infect human cells.

It's all done under containment to prevent any release. If the spikes of the bat CoV can allow the CoV to infect human cells, then they have the potential to infect humans and we should be making antivirals against them to prevent a pandemic."

Those kinds of experiments, Racaniello said, "are considered 'gain of function' because they would confer a new property to the original virus."

That research, Racaniello said, "was done in the laboratory of Dr. Ralph Baric in [the University of] North Carolina and was not funded by EcoHealth Alliance."

When pressed, Racaniello revealed that EcoHealth did have an indirect role in the funding of Baric's work.

"EcoHealth Alliance provided funds to Zengli Shi at the Wuhan Institute of Virology to conduct bat surveillance for SARS-like CoVs," he said. "Baric then received the spike sequences from Wuhan to do his experiments independently."
"Daszak and Baric did not work together on this project," he added.

Anna Marie Skalka, a professor emerita at the Fox Chase Cancer Center and one of the authors of the bestselling textbook "Principles of Virology," did not expressly deny that Baric's research constituted gain-of-function, though she claimed that the overall issue was more complex than that.

"I prefer to describe the research in broader terms, as gain-of-function seems too narrow and has acquired negative connotations," she said. "The aim of such research is to learn as much as possible about the gene/protein in question so that one can begin to develop possible therapeutic or vaccine-related approaches."

Queries to Daszak and Baric on Racaniello's claims went unanswered.

The assertions from Racaniello — a four-decade veteran of academic virology who along with Skalka is also an author of "Principles of Virology" — constitute the sharpest allegations yet that both EcoHealth and the Wuhan Institute of Virology were involved, even if adjacently, with gain-of-function research prior to the pandemic.

Baric's research, meanwhile, has been the recipient of millions of dollars in funding from the NIAID over the years, much of it focused on coronaviruses, including experiments in the "replication and pathogenesis" of those viruses.

Racaniello himself forcefully defended such research. "There is a very clear reason to do these experiments and if we had done them even more we could have prevented the current pandemic," he said.

EcoHealth, meanwhile, has been the focus of controversy for the past year due not merely to its alleged association with coronavirus experiments but also to the fact that its work was for years heavily funded by the federal government, specifically the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

EcoHealth routed hundreds of thousands of NIAID dollars to the Wuhan lab in the years leading up to the pandemic to conduct coronavirus research there. Experts and commentators alike have called for a major investigation into the lab to determine if SARS-Cov-2 may have accidentally leaked from the facility and launched the pandemic.

The federal funding for the Wuhan project was pulled last year near the outset of the pandemic. Daszak himself told NPR last year that the Wuhan experiments were "funded entirely through the NIH grant," as the news service put it.

The lab was the subject of part of the World Health Organization's investigation into the origins of COVID-19. That probe concluded earlier this year and determined that a lab-leak theory was unlikely, though world officials have called for additional investigations into the facility.

The international team of investigators reportedly only spent a single day at the Wuhan lab. Among the team's members — and the only U.S. representative on it — was Peter Daszak.

Wonder if doctors will tell patients this or MSN or SOMEBODY.

Stores, States Drop Mask Mandates In Wake Of CDC's Updated Guidance

SATURDAY, MAY 15, 2021 - 11:35 AM
Authored by Zachary Stieber via The Epoch Times,

States and stores on Friday said they were largely dropping their mask requirements after a top U.S. health agency advised that people fully vaccinated against the virus that causes COVID-19 could stop donning face coverings.

The governors of at least 10 states and officials at a slew of retail giants, like Walmart, announced they would no longer require masks, at least for those fully vaccinated against the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus.

Delaware’s governor, Democrat John Carney, said effective May 21 residents will not be forced to wear masks anytime they are indoors with people they do not live with.
“It’s clear that the COVID-19 vaccines are extremely safe and protective against infection and serious illness,” he said in a statement.
“Delawareans who are fully vaccinated have significant protection against this virus and can feel comfortable getting back to the things they loved to do before this pandemic. For our neighbors who aren’t vaccinated, the message is clear.

The COVID-19 vaccine is the best protection we have against the virus. Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect you and those you love. In the meantime, Delawareans who are unvaccinated, including children, should continue to wear masks in public places,” he added.

Kentucky, Louisiana, New Mexico, North Carolina, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Vermont, and Virginia also relaxed or eliminated masking requirements.

Some also eased or rescinded social distancing mandates.
Today is the day that so many of us have been waiting for and working toward. We finally do clearly see the light at the end of that tunnel. Our long, hard-fought battle against the worst global pandemic in more than a century is finally nearing an end,” Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a Republican, told a press conference.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced Thursday that it was rolling back its strict masking guidance. People who are fully vaccinated against the CCP virus no longer have to wear masks indoors, its director said.
Fully vaccinated means a person has received the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine or both doses of vaccines from Moderna or Pfizer, and two weeks have elapsed.

The CDC guidance is not binding but is followed closely by many states across the nation, though some governors had relaxed masking and similar COVID-fueled restrictions earlier, citing the steep drop in COVID-19 cases and other metrics and the rise in the number of vaccinated.

Over 120 million Americans, or 36 percent of the population, have been fully vaccinated against the CCP virus as of May 14.

President Joe Biden in March called rescinding mask mandates “Neanderthal thinking” and top health officials like Dr. Anthony Fauci condemned the easing by governors like Greg Abbott of Texas. But the states that relaxed or removed restrictions saw a drop in cases, befuddling Fauci.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters in Washington on Friday that Biden “has been listening to the guidance of our health and medical experts and teams, and that’s exactly what we’re doing in this case” when asked about his earlier criticism of removing mask mandates.

The CDC’s experts “were the ones who determined what this guidance would be, based on their own data, and what the timeline would be,” she added.

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky was on television just one day before the updated recommendations defending guidance that had fully vaccinated people wear masks both indoors and in some situations outdoors.

New research on the efficacy of the vaccines and the severity of COVID-19 in so-called breakthrough cases, or cases among the fully vaccinated, compelled the change, officials say.

Large retailers followed the CDC’s lead.

Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club, Publix, and Trader Joe’s all announced that they would not force customers who are fully vaccinated to wear masks in states that do not require the coverings.

Costco, in a similar update to the other retailers, said that they will not check for proof of vaccination but hope that customers abide by the revised policy.
Walmart told associates in a note that they would also not need to wear masks unless they are not vaccinated.

Other businesses, like Target, CVS, Kroger, and Walgreens, said their requirements are staying the same for now.

A handful of governors are not altering masking mandates as of now.
“We have received the newly revised guidance from the CDC regarding mask wearing and social distancing for those with vaccinations and are reviewing them,” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, said in a statement.
[ZH: Of course, some Americans just can't help themselves and admit to the need to wear a mask to signal theuir virtue despite the 'science']

Virologist: NIAID grantee funded Wuhan coronavirus studies used in gain-of-function research

Wuhan Lab DELETED Fauci’s NIH and Gain of Function Mentions From Old Web Pages in Early 2021.
Natalie Winters
May 15, 2021

The Wuhan Institute of Virology scrubbed the U.S. National Institutes of Health as one of its research partners from its website in early 2021. The revelation comes despite Dr. Anthony Fauci insisting no relationship existed between the institutions.

Archived versions of the Wuhan lab’s site also reveal a research update – “Will SARS Come Back?” – appearing to describe gain-of-function research being conducted at the institute by entities funded by Dr. Anthony Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

On March 21st, 2021, the lab’s website listed six U.S.-based research partners: University of Alabama, University of North Texas, EcoHealth Alliance, Harvard University, The National Institutes of Health (NIH), the United States, and the National Wildlife Federation.

Screen-Shot-2021-05-14-at-8.42.37-PM-800x757.png

WUHAN LAB’S WEBSITE.

One day later, the page was revised to contain just two research partners – EcoHealth Alliance and the University of Alabama. By March 23rd, EcoHealth Alliance was the sole partner remaining.

EcoHealth Alliance is run by long-standing Chinese Communist Party-partner Dr. Peter Daszak, who National Pulse Editor-in-Chief Raheem Kassam has repeatedly claimed will be the first “fall guy” of the Wuhan lab debacle.

The Wuhan Institute of Virology’s decision to wipe the NIH from its website came amidst heightened scrutiny that the lab was the source of COVID-19 – and that U.S. taxpayer dollars from the NIH may have funded the research. The unearthing of the lab’s attempted coverup also follows a heated exchange between Senator Rand Paul and Fauci, who attempted to distance his organization from the Wuhan lab.

Beyond establishing a working relationship between the NIH and the Wuhan Institue of Virology, now-deleted posts from the site also detail studies bearing the hallmarks of gain-of-function research conducted with the Wuhan-based lab. Fauci, however, asserted to Senator Paul that “the NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

Screen-Shot-2021-05-14-at-8.46.40-PM-800x979.png

2015 article.

A summary of the work conducted by Wuhan Institue of Virology researchers “in cooperation with researchers from University of North Carolina (UNC), Harvard Medical School, Bellinzona Institute of Microbiology and etc” describes scientists as “generating and characterizing a chimeric virus,” noting how modifications allowed the virus to “replicate efficiently in primary human airway cells and achieve in vitro titers equivalent to epidemic strains of SARS-CoV”:

“Using the SARS-CoV reverse genetics system, the scientists generated and characterized a chimeric virus expressing the spike of bat coronavirus SHC014 in a mouse-adapted SARS-CoV backbone. The results indicate that group 2b viruses encoding the SHC014 spike in a wild-type backbone can efficiently use multiple orthologs of the SARS receptor human angiotensin converting enzyme II (ACE2), replicate efficiently in primary human airway cells and achieve in vitro titers equivalent to epidemic strains of SARS-CoV. Evaluation of available SARS-based immune-therapeutic and prophylactic modalities revealed poor efficacy; both monoclonal antibody and vaccine approaches failed to neutralize and protect from infection with CoVs using the novel spike protein.”

“On the basis of these findings, they synthetically re-derived an infectious full-length SHC014 recombinant virus and demonstrate robust viral replication both in vitro and in vivo,” the article concludes.

During Fauci and Senator Paul’s recent exchange, the NIAID Director was also pressed on gain-of-function research carried out by UNC researcher Dr. Ralph. Baric, who has received 173 grants from Fauci’s agency.

“Dr. Baric is not doing gain-of-function research, and if it is, it is according to the guidelines and is being conducted in North Carolina. If you look at the grant and if you look at the progress reports, it is not gain-of-function, despite the fact that people tweet that, write about it,” Fauci responded to Senator Paul despite UNC being listed as a research partner in the blog post above.

The Wuhan Institute of Virology wiping evidence of gain-of-function research and its ties to the NIH also follow the National Pulse unearthing interviews where Fauci asserts he’s “trying to hire” Chinese Communist Party researchers.

“Take COVID Lab Theory Seriously,” Say Top Academics.
wuhan
Nearly 20 scientists from America’s top research institutions penned a letter calling for a genuine investigation into the origins of COVID-19, insuring the “lab leak” theory is “viable.”

Published in Science magazine, the report also slams the recent World Health Organization investigation for basing itself on faulty evidence and not sufficiently debunking the theory that the virus could have escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology:

“The information, data, and samples for the study’s first phase were collected and summarized by the Chinese half of the team; the rest of the team built on this analysis. Although there were no findings in clear support of either a natural spillover or a lab accident, the team assessed a zoonotic spillover from an intermediate host as “likely to very likely,” and a laboratory incident as “extremely unlikely.” Furthermore, the two theories were not given balanced consideration. Only 4 of the 313 pages of the report and its annexes addressed the possibility of a laboratory accident.”

“We must take hypotheses about both natural and laboratory spillovers seriously until we have sufficient data,” the letter posits. “Public health agencies and research laboratories alike need to open their records to the public,” it continues.

Among the signatories are professors from institutions including Harvard, Stanford, and Yale. Dr. Ralph Baric – whose gain-of-function research record and ties to the Wuhan Institute of Virology were recently discussed in an exchange between Dr. Anthony Fauci and Senator Rand Paul – also signed the letter.

The letter also comes one day after The National Pulse unearthed a conference focused on gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology with several National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)-funded researchers in attendance. Among them was Dr. David Relman – the organizer of the letter.

Democrats REFUSE To Remove Masks Following CDC Guidelines Over Fear Of Being Seen As Conservative. Democrat Eric Swalwell got into an altercation with a staffer for Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene after he said "Biden said you can take the mask off" Many Democrats are scared that if they dont wear a mask they will be seen as conservatives.

Costco has new mask sign. You no longer have to wear a mask if fully vaccinated. No proof is required, so you see people with masks. They could be not vacciated and conservative. They could be vaccinated and think masks are good. The ones without masks could be fully vaccinated or they could be not vaccinated, so when you look at somebody now you really have no idea.

Singapore Announces New Restrictions After Vaccinated Airport Workers Become Infected - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

Singapore announces new restrictions after vaccinated airport workers become infected.
Shashank Bengali
By Shashank Bengali May 14, 2021

SINGAPORE — Singapore said on Friday that it would ban dining in restaurants and gatherings of more than two people to try to stem a rise in coronavirus cases, becoming the latest Asian nation to reintroduce restrictions after keeping the illness mostly in check for months.

The new measures came after the city-state recorded 34 new cases on Thursday, a small number by global standards, but part of a rise in infections traced to vaccinated workers at Singapore Changi Airport.

The airport outbreak began with an 88-year-old member of the airport cleaning crew who was fully vaccinated but who tested positive for the virus on May 5. Co-workers who then became infected later visited an airport food court, where they transmitted the virus to other customers, officials said.

None of the cases linked to the airport outbreak are believed to have resulted in critical illness or death, according to officials.

In all, 46 cases have been traced to the airport, the largest of about 10 clusters of new infections in the country.

“Because we do not know how far the transmission has occurred into the community, we do have to take further, more stringent restrictions,” said Lawrence Wong, co-chair of Singapore’s coronavirus task force. The measures will be in effect for about one month beginning on Sunday.

According to preliminary testing, many of those infected were working in a zone of the airport that received flights from high-risk countries, including from South Asia. Several have tested positive for the B.1.617 variant first detected in India, which the World Health Organization has said might be more contagious than most versions of the coronavirus.

Singapore health officials said that of 28 airport workers who became infected, 19 were fully vaccinated with either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, the only two approved for use in Singapore.

“Unfortunately, this mutant virus, very virulent, broke through the layers of defense,” Transport Minister Ong Ye Kung told a virtual news conference on Friday.

Mr. Ong also said that the rise in cases “very likely” means that a long-delayed air travel bubble with Hong Kong would not begin as scheduled on May 26.

Singapore, a prosperous island hub of 5.7 million people, saw an explosion of infections among migrant workers living in dormitories, but a two-month lockdown and extensive testing and contact tracing contained the outbreak. Although Singapore has kept much of its economy open, its vaccination effort has not moved as quickly as many expected: less than one-quarter of the population has been fully inoculated.

Changi Airport, which served more than 68 million passengers in 2019, is operating at 3 percent of capacity as Singapore has paused nearly all incoming commercial traffic. Employees there work under strict controls, wearing protective gear and submitting to regular coronavirus tests.

Singapore joins Japan, Thailand and other Asian countries that have struggled to contain new outbreaks fueled in part by variants. But Paul Ananth Tambyah, president of the Asia Pacific Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infection, said that the rise in cases was not overly worrying.

“The reason for my optimism is that we now have effective vaccines, better diagnostics, proven treatments and even potential prophylactic agents,” he said. “If these are employed in a targeted approach, it is unlikely that we will end up with the same problems we had last year.”

PORTLAND — A coronavirus variant first detected in India has been discovered in Maine.

Only one case of the B.1.617.2 variant has been found so far in York County, the Maine CDC said.

While health officials here consider it a ‘variant of interest’, Public Health England recently reclassified B.1.617.2 as a ‘variant of concern’ because it has an estimated rate of transmissibility at least as high as that of the B.1.1.7 (UK) variant. In late March, the National Institutes of Health said the UK variant likely accounted for at least one-third of all cases in the U.S. at the time.

Variants of concern have increased transmission rates and have increased severity of disease based on hospitalization and case fatality rates, according to the Maine CDC. These variants could evade natural or vaccine-induced immunity.

So far, 11 types of variants have been discovered in Maine COVID cases. Most have been the UK. variant.

The news comes as the Maine CDC reports three more deaths from the coronavirus. There are 175 new known cases.

Only weeks before the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns began in March 2020, Nicole Wilson got a disheartening diagnosis. She'd been coping with a sinus infection for months, and after seeing multiple specialists, she learned she had a disorder that had weakened her immune system and made her more susceptible to infections.

The condition, common variable immune deficiency, or CVID, prevents her body from making enough antibodies to fight off viral or bacterial infections.

“CVID is a huge, huge thing to deal with, but finding out you have it at the start of a pandemic was just a double whammy,” Wilson, a talent manager from Pittsburgh and mother of a 5-year-old girl, said. “It was very overwhelming and really scary.”

The immune disorder put Wilson at risk for severe Covid-19 disease. She immediately quarantined and still has not seen friends for over a year.

Millions of Americans have immune disorders or autoimmune diseases — such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis or Crohn’s disease — that require them to take immune-suppressing treatments for life. Because people with compromised immune systems were largely excluded from the Covid-19 vaccine trials in the U.S. and globally, it’s unknown how much protection they get from vaccination. A recent study by researchers at Johns Hopkins University found that only half of organ transplant recipients developed antibodies after two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.

That's why Wilson enthusiastically became one of the first participants in a clinical trial examining the immune response to Covid-19 vaccination in people with different immune disorders or on immunosuppressive medications. Researchers at the National Institutes of Health are currently recruiting participants across the country to be tested before and after they receive their Covid-19 vaccinations.

Wilson received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine in early May. Her body’s antibody and T cell responses will be tested between three to four weeks after vaccination and compared with blood test results from people who don’t have immune system disorders and others who do. Preliminary results about her immunity will be available in a few months, although she'll go back for blood checks at the 6, 12 and 24 months marks.

“This study is so important for people like me who are going through cancer treatment or on immunosuppressive drugs because we need to know if these vaccines work,” Wilson said. “I'm so excited to be part of that science and part of the future.”

Even as more than 115 million Americans are now fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, people with weakened immune systems and organ transplant recipients are left wondering what’s safe for them to do.

“We understand how frustrating it is,” said Emily Ricotta, a research fellow at the NIH and lead investigator of the study. “This has been a long, hard year for everybody and to have to continue that vigilance is tiring.”

Ricotta and her team have seen tremendous interest in the study and have received over 500 emails from patients eager to participate. She is hoping to expand the study to children between the ages of 12 and 15 since the Food and Drug Administration has authorized the Pfizer vaccine for them.

The goal of the study is to help patients who are immunosuppressed understand their level of protection after vaccination.

“There are some people who cannot get vaccinated for whatever reason, or if they do, they don't produce a response,” she said. “That's why it's really important for everybody else who can get a shot and who should produce a response to get vaccinated.”

Early data suggests that people who are taking medications that suppress their immune system have a significantly weaker response to the vaccine than healthy people. Data has shown a decreased antibody response to the vaccine in those with blood cancers as well as those on medication for inflammatory disorders.

In the organ transplant study, researchers at Johns Hopkins University found that patients taking a particular class of drugs, called anti-metabolites, were less likely to develop an immune response.

“I am quite disappointed that a significant amount of transplant patients did not get a reasonable response from both doses of the vaccine,” said Dr. Dorry Segev, an author of the the study and associate vice chair for research and professor of surgery at Johns Hopkins University.

Segev's patients in the study have been frustrated as public health restrictions relax for fully vaccinated patients, while they worry about venturing out.

One of his trial participants, Laura Burns, 71, had received a double lung transplant in 2016 and has been taking immunosuppressive medications to prevent her body from rejecting the new lungs. Despite two doses of the Moderna vaccine, her body has not mounted any detectable antibodies to the virus.

“I was devastated,” Burns said. “It was so hard, as I had been really looking forward to resuming some form of a normal life.”

Burns has been anxiously awaiting the day she can safely visit her stepdaughter but is holding off until she knows more about her protection status.

The complexity of the immune system makes it difficult to predict why some immunosuppressed patients have a positive response to the vaccine and others don’t. Segev, however, is hopeful because the number of participants who developed antibodies after two vaccine doses was significantly higher than those who developed antibodies after one dose. He said a three-dose vaccine regimen could serve as a booster shot for immunocompromised patients, although no clinical trials are underway yet.

Johns Hopkins trial participant Valen Keefer, 38, has received two organ transplants and despite being on immunosuppressive therapy has successfully mounted an immune response with the Moderna vaccine.

She's "cautiously optimistic" although still unsure how much protection she has from the virus.

Wilson, who now visits a hospital once a month for infusions to boost her immune system, is trying to be positive about returning to normal life.

“If I were to think about what's going to happen this summer or this fall, it can become very overwhelming,” she said. “I spend a lot of my time thinking about what I'm able to do today, and that’s helped me cope with everything.”

Maria Bartiromo and Devin Nunes on COVID related Dr. Peter Daszak Who Was Involved in the Origins of COVID-19 and Is the Only American in the WHO’s Investigating Team

By Joe Hoft

The great and beautiful Maria Bartiromo had the hero who challenged the Mueller scam, Devin Nunes, on her show this morning. The topic of Peter Daszak and his attacks on Bartiroma were discussed.

Maria and Nunes discussed the possibility of the US funding research into COVID-19 like viruses to be used potentially for military warfare. Both found it hard to believe that the government would use taxpayer money to fund this. Nunes suggested that the government entities might have used Democrat ‘Non-Profits’ to funnel government money to causes like this. Then Maria shared:
Maria: Yeah, and the non-profit was the Ecohealth Alliance, run by Peter Daszak, who by the way tried to trash me on Twitter when I said on this program it’s likely this came from a lab. He’s one of the people involved, correct? He was also on the Wu team, the WHO team rather?
Nunes: That’s correct. This is correct. This is someone who clearly has taken around $100 million by our estimation. We don’t have an accounting for all that money…. Should someone who was involved with allocating that money be involved in investigating the origins of this Wuhan virus. I’m not sure that would be appropriate.

We’ve reported on Dr. Daszak a number of times. Most recently we pointed out that the Dr. was conflicted due to this activities related to COVID-19 and the players involved and yet he is the only American on the WHO team ‘investigating’ the origin of the Wuhan virus.

We’ve reported quite a bit about the good Dr. Daszak. Here’s a recent post:
1621198698584.png

We know the following right now: 1) Dr. Daszak was involved with the Chinese in the efforts leading up to the Wuhan virus being released on humanity; 2) Dr. Daszak is the only person from the US on the WHO investigation into the origins of COVID-19 (making the results tainted no matter what is reported), and 3) Dr. Daszak challenges accusations against him.

Funny how the dirty birds always sing the loudest.

Chinese Military Scientist Suspected of Involvement in COVID-19 Creation Elected to American Academy of Microbiology

Chinese military scientist suspected of involvement in COVID-19 creation elected to American Academy of Microbiology

Guest post by Lawrence Sellin, Ph.D.

Adding global insult to injury, in February 2021, Shibo Jiang was elected to the American Academy of Microbiology.

Shibo Jiang, now Professor and Director, Institute of Medical Microbiology at China’s Fudan University in Shanghai, obtained his MS and MD degrees from the First and the Fourth Medical University of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

Between 1987 and 1990, he received his postdoctoral training at the Rockefeller University in New York, largely through HIV AIDS funding provided by Dr. Anthony Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

For nearly twenty years afterward, Shibo Jiang worked in or has been associated with the Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute of the New York Blood Center.

He developed an extensive network of collaborative research with other major U.S. virus research laboratories and received more than $17 million in U.S. research grants, the vast majority coming from Fauci’s NIAID.

During that entire period, Shibo Jiang maintained extensive collaborative research with PLA laboratories, described in detail here, while simultaneously inviting into his U.S. laboratory and training scientists linked to the Chinese military.

After the onset of the November 2002 SARS pandemic originating in Foshan, Guangdong, China, the PLA, and Shibo Jiang would play an outsized role in human coronavirus research.
Much of the work focused on the junction of the S1 and S2 segments of the spike protein and how it was cleaved by human enzymes as an initiator of virus entry into human cells.

Those studies would eventually lead to a smoking gun, revealing the laboratory origin of COVID-19.

In 2005, Shibo Jiang together with his military scientist colleagues Yuxian He and Yusen Zhou from the State Key Laboratory of Pathogen and Biosecurity, Beijing Institute of Microbiology and Epidemiology, Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Beijing, China, stated there was no observed cleavage between the S1 and S2 components of the first SARS virus.

By 2007, the same group of military investigators led by Shibo Jiang concluded that cleavage, in fact, did occur in the first SARS virus and it and it was correlated with infectivity.

Then, in 2013, came the smoking gun.

Despite having the innocuous title “Simultaneous Expression of Displayed and Secreted Antibodies for Antibody Screen,” Shibo Jiang and his military-trained colleague Shuwen Liu, demonstrated the artificial insertion of a furin polybasic cleavage site similar to that found in the COVID-19 virus.

That study was directly funded by the Chinese government and a private Chinese biotech company, while Shibo Jiang was also being funded by Fauci’s NIAID.

There is no identified natural evolutionary pathway for the presence of the furin polybasic cleavage site found in COVID-19. It had to be artificially inserted.

Shibo Jiang is not the only Chinese Communist Party scientist who has been elected to the American Academy of Microbiology, some of whom have extensive links to China’s military or are suspected of involvement in the creation of COVID-19, in particular, the “bat lady” Zheng-Li Shi from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

NIH-Funded Researcher Concealing Chinese Communist Party Ties Sentenced To Prison, Millions In Fines.

A researcher receiving National Institutes of Health grants while failing to disclose Chinese Communist Party ties has been sentenced to 37 months in prison and fines worth millions.

Zheng Songguo, a former professor at Ohio State University (OSU), pleaded guilty to lying on his National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant applications, allowing him to receive $4.1 million in research grants to develop the fields of rheumatology and immunology for China. He was arrested while attempting to flee the U.S. last May.

Zheng was sentenced to 37 months in prison along with paying $3.4 million in restitution to the NIH and about $413,000 to OSU.

“For years the defendant concealed his participation in Chinese government talent recruitment programs, hiding his affiliations with at least five research institutions in China,” Assistant Director Alan E. Kohler Jr. of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division said in a statement.

Dem Committee Chair Calls For COVID Origins Investigation Considering ‘Every Hypothesis Available.’
covid
Democratic Congresswoman Anna Eshoo called for an investigation into the origins of COVID-19 that considers “every hypothesis available.”

The Chairwoman of the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee released the following statement in response to a recent statement from 18 researchers published in the journal Science that encouraged others to take theories about “laboratory spillovers seriously.”

In full, Rep. Eshoo’s statement reads:

“I applaud Stanford University’s Dr. David Relman and 17 other esteemed scientists on their open letter published in Science calling for a transparent, objective, and data-driven investigation into the origins of COVID-19. In order to crush the virus and prevent future global pandemics, we must consider every hypothesis available and have non-partisan, independent, scientific experts conduct an investigation to inform our understanding of COVID-19 and similar infectious diseases. I stand ready to support the Biden Administration and our international partners in such an investigation of COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2 origins, and I’m grateful to the scientists for leading this effort.”

Among the signatories of the Science letter are professors from institutions including Harvard, Stanford, and Yale.

Nunes says U.S. intel failed on COVID, demands Biden probe Wuhan lab theory

Key lawmaker divulges there is evidence that U.S. spy agencies may have squelched dissenting opinions about the origins of CVID-19 last year.

By John Solomon
Updated: May 16, 2021 - 11:00am

The House Intelligence Committee's top Republican declared Sunday that U.S. intelligence failed to properly investigate the origins of COVID-19, and pleaded with President Biden to launch a whole-of-government review to determine if the deadly virus emanated from a lab accident in China.

Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., also disclosed in a letter to Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines that there is evidence that U.S. spy agencies may have squelched dissenting opinions when early intelligence suggested the coronavirus had originated in the wild, something that is now in question.

"As Members of Congress responsible for overseeing U.S. intelligence agencies, we believe the IC failed to properly support policymakers with timely products and analysis," Nunes wrote Haines, just days after the Biden intelligence chief acknowledged that a lab accident was one of two prevailing theories about how COVID-19 started in China.

"Further, the IC has not been forthcoming about what processes it undertook to make seemingly authoritative statements early in the pandemic about the origins of the virus—conclusions that are now in question. This casts doubt on the validity of early judgments as well as the analytic integrity of COVID-19-related intelligence reporting.

File
2021.05.16_RM_ltr_to_DNI_Haines_re._COVID-19.pdf

"Moreover, evidence shows that the IC’s failures continued in the pandemic’s aftermath. Specifically, Republican Members are aware of allegations that the IC suppressed dissenting views related to the origins of the pandemic and that the community relied upon "outside" experts with concerning yet undisclosed entanglements," he added.

In a separate letter, Nunes asked Biden to launch a full-scale review to better determine how the pandemic started, saying there is stronger evidence than ever of a possible accident at the Wuhan Institute for Virulogy (WIV).

"We write to request that you initiate a whole-of-government effort to identify the origins of the virus and to direct federal agencies and departments to examine all plausible scenarios as part of such investigation," Nunes wrote the president. "During the course of our investigation, which is ongoing, we have identified substantial circumstantial evidence supporting the theory that a laboratory leak could have been responsible for the origination of COVID-19.

"It is critical that this possibility be thoroughly examined, particularly in light of the Chinese government’s obstruction of multilateral bio-forensic investigations and its destruction of important evidence," he added.

File
2021.05.16_RM_ltr_to_President_Biden_re._COVID-19.pdf

The letters come as top Biden administration officials have acknowledged in recent weeks that a Chinese lab leak -- something Democrats and world health leaders disputed last year -- could be responsible for the pandemic.

Nunes' letter asks Haines to address more than two dozen questions, including whether:
  • There is any intelligence "concerning collaboration between the WIV and the Chinese military."
  • Spy agencies have "any evidence, circumstantial or otherwise, that COVID-19 occurred naturally and spilled over directly from an intermediate host to humans in the fall of 2019?"
  • China has complied with Article X of the Biological Weapons Convention.
  • U.S. intelligence is aware of "collaboration between the WIV and its related entities or scientists and foreign scientists" or produced any threat assessments about such possible collaborations.
  • The WIV collaborated with any U.S. government entities or persons, including any potential ties to the Chinese military.
  • U.S. intelligence conducted "any interagency reviews concerning the appropriateness of U.S. government funding of research conducted at the WIV and its related facilities."

MIT Study Finds That Anti-Maskers Are Anything But “Unscientific”…

Posted by Centipede Nation Staff on May 16, 2021 2:05 pm

Anti-Maskers Are Anything But Unscientific

The following MIT study was quietly released a few months back and the subject was on anti maskers themselves, as people, saying they are not “science deniers”, instead, they actually value critical thinking more than the “trust the science” crowd. But the researchers offer a twist which they themselves are guilty of.

It seems the key difference isn’t whether ‘anti-maskers’ have more data, are more educated, etc, – what makes ‘anti-maskers’ highly capable is their lack of “trust” in the system. There is also a lack of faith in public health officials who have either blatantly lied, or have been outrageously incorrect for decades. Many feel trust is earned, and the establishment has given people no reason to trust them and every reason not to.

From the findings:
“Most fundamentally, groups we studied believe that science is a process, not an institution.”

“Indeed, anti-maskers often reveal themselves to be more sophisticated in their understanding of how scientific knowledge is socially constructed than their ideological adversaries, who espouse naïve realism about the “objective” truth of public health data.”

“In other words, anti-maskers value unmediated access to information and privilege personal research and direct reading over “expert” interpretations.”
“Its members value individual initiative and ingenuity, trusting scientific analysis only insofar as they can replicate it themselves by accessing and manipulating the data firsthand.”
“They are highly reflexive about the inherently biased nature of any analysis, and resent what they view as the arrogant self-righteousness of scientific elites.”
“The lack of transparency within the data collection systems—which many of these users infer as a lack of honesty—erodes these users’ trust within both government institutions and the datasets they release.”
“their approach to the pandemic is grounded in more scientific rigor, not less.”
“data is the only way to set fear-bound politicians straight, and using better data is a surefire way towards creating a safer community.”
“Arguing anti-maskers need more scientific literacy is to characterize their approach as uninformed & inexplicably extreme. This study shows the opposite: they are deeply invested in forms of critique & knowledge production they recognize as markers of scientific expertise”
“We argue that anti-maskers’ deep story draws from similar wells of resentment, but adds a particular emphasis on the usurpation of scientific knowledge by a paternalistic, condescending elite that expects intellectual subservience rather than critical thinking from the public.”
Now here’s the catch and/or twist to this whole thing; They also state that although anti-maskers are data driven, they leverage their interpretation of the data to push a narrative (sounds like what the other side does as well). The researchers also appear to present methods of combatting this in the future.
“Understanding how these groups skillfully manipulate data to undermine mainstream science requires us to adjust the theoretical assumptions in HCI research about how data can be leveraged in public discourse”
So in the end, they are basically calling anti-maskers well organized, intelligent and a highly capable threat to their agenda.

What SHE said! Megyn Kelly’s response to Rachel Maddow melting DOWN over maskless Americans is just PERFECTION

Posted at 10:17 am on May 16, 2021 by Sam J.

As Twitchy readers know, Rachel Maddow pretty much lost it when Biden admitted what we all knew already … that vaccinated people don’t have to mask up or socially distance. WE KNOW, THE SCIENCE IS SUPER SKEEEEERY, Rachel but it’s time for Americans to start acting like Americans again and make their OWN decisions about their health.

We didn’t exactly feel sorry for her then.

We still don’t exactly feel sorry for her now.
Get on with it.

1621204291242.png

Megyn Kelly though, her reaction truly was perfect:

1621204327936.png

Megyn nailed it.

Imagine being worked up because people aren’t being forced to cover their faces anymore. Rachel can keep covering her face for the rest of her life is she wants, but she doesn’t get to use the government to boss the rest of us around anymore.

We hope Rachel can manage in this very difficult time where people are free to think for themselves again.

Dr. Nicole Saphier: COVID-19 and America – the state of emergency is over and it's time to declare it

Across the country, new COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths have dropped precipitously since early January
Nicole Saphier, M.D.

Physician and 'Panic Attack' author Dr. Nicole Saphier responds to new CDC guidance and argues children should be back in school with a face mask option

On March 25, 2020 President Donald Trump declared a State of Emergency for the United States as New York City was reporting nearly 4,000 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, a number that doubled by the following week.

On that day, NYC recorded approximately 20,000 new cases with close to 900 deaths occurring each day; totals, which seroprevalence studies have suggested, likely captured less than 25% of the true disease burden.

A week later, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) urged mask use by the public prompting state mask mandates and capacity restrictions to be implemented across the country.

After a year of some of the country’s strictest lockdown measures and prolonged restrictions, NYC now has a 7-day average of 825 new daily cases and roughly 25 COVID-related deaths per day, both numbers diminishing each week.

Across the country, new cases, hospitalizations and deaths have dropped precipitously since early January as a massive vaccination campaign took hold. Now, over 59% of American adults have received at least one dose contributing to the immunity of the nation.

Reliable data confirm the vaccines not only protect against severe disease, but also offer protection from asymptomatic transmission and circulating global variants. There is no doubt that people in this group should be mask free in all settings unless they choose to wear one, as indicated in the updated CDC recommendations.

Biden continues to ignore the science: Dr. Saphier
Video
11:59 min

However, the CDC continues to offer little guidance about the unvaccinated including those who have recovered from infection and young children.

The CDC and subsequent statements by President Biden, including a tweet he sent that declared, "Get vaccinated or wear a mask until you do" set a treacherous precedent by indicating that only the vaccinated among us can return to normal life; affirming the vaccine as the only means to eliminating the pandemic.

This neglects the true definition of herd immunity where once a sufficient amount of the population has immunity, as demonstrated by declining cases, hospitalizations and deaths (and not the number of people vaccinated) the entire community can resume activities with low risk of transmission.
Our economy and our children can’t wait for the slow rollout of the CDC to acknowledge real world data about the severity of risk amongst the entire population, not just the vaccinated.
The wall of protection from the amount of natural immunity has consistently been ignored. To date, the amount of reinfections following natural infection are similar if not less than breakthrough cases after vaccination, demonstrating the robustness of natural immunity.

A study last month in The Lancet shows that people who recovered from a prior SARS-CoV-2 infection had an 84% lower risk of reinfection and a 93% lower risk of symptomatic infection.

Some argue that this data only shows 7 months of follow up. They point out that how long the immunity lasts after infection remains unknown. But the same can be said of the COVID-19 vaccines, which also have limited long-term data.

CDC issues new mask-wearing guidance for fully vaccinated Americans
Video
6:09 min

Prior SARS data suggest similar immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 and the vaccines as elicited by the original SARS coronavirus, which had lasting immunity of at least 2-3 years.

Our economy and our children can’t wait for the slow rollout of the CDC to acknowledge real world data about the severity of risk amongst the entire population, not just the vaccinated.

According to CDC data, the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations continues to fall by about 10% weekly, with a new low of less than 31,000 hospitalized; a number the country hasn’t seen since March 2020. With fewer hospitalizations it is not surprising that 54 states and territories are reporting less than 5 deaths per 100,000 daily with 9 states having reported 0 to 1 death last week.

Johns Hopkins’ tracking shows that the United States has a percent positivity of 3.1%, the lowest it has been since the pandemic began. That’s within the "blue" risk level on the CDC website which represents a low risk of transmission.

Even with the low risk level, some people worry that without requiring proof of vaccination an unvaccinated person can place the immunocompromised and children at risk by not wearing a mask but the same is true for any contagious illness.

The real goal is to achieve a previously acceptable level of risk when it comes to the health of the population. In California, there is currently a higher prevalence of active tuberculosis than COVID-19, yet the low incidence of the illness has not warranted routine mask wearing by the general public.

In a similar vein, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) have higher combined mortality rates in young children than SARS-CoV-2 and mask mandates haven’t been instituted to prevent those infections despite higher caseloads during peak seasons.

While the percent of positive cases has expectedly risen in children as more adults become vaccinated, the risk of severe illness resulting in hospitalization and death remain rare. Of the states reporting, 0.00%-0.03% of all child COVID-19 cases result in death, with 306 pediatric deaths total nationwide.

As we exit the state of emergency, it is important that vaccine companies seek full FDA approval for vaccines in young children rather than extending it through the Emergency Use Authorization since the data does not reflect COVID-19 to be an emergency in young children.

Nor are the current studies powered enough to ensure the vaccine immune response does not also lead to multisystem inflammatory system in children (MIS-C) -- a concern following infection.

To date, 3742 cases of MIS-C have been documented out of the nearly 3.9 million confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infections in kids, reflecting a < 0.1% incidence.

Moving forward, messages from public health entities and government leadership must be transparent and unambiguous regarding fluctuating community transmission and true risk level while continuing to encourage adults to get vaccinated. Continued vaccination efforts will further lessen the spread of the virus and prevent future variants from escaping existing immunity from evolving.

At the current rate, the number hospitalized, and daily deaths will reach levels consistent with bad flu years by Memorial Day; a day which can also be known for "emaskipation."

The emergency is over. It is prudent now for our leaders and health officials to have less tunnel vision and to allow the country to return to pre-COVID activities, without mask mandates.

Self-Spreading Insanity: The Age of Contagious Vaccines
By Olivier B. Simon

With COVID vaccination "rollouts" ongoing, it would seem the angelic host of Big Pharma has swooped in to avert the end of the world, triumphing in the nick of time over a super-lethal, super-contagious, super-pandemic...with a whopping 0.15% infection fatality rate.

But if, for whatever reason, you still aren't sold on the whole COVID Vaccination Magical Mystery Tour, don't worry. You may get another chance at serum-based salvation quite soon — whether you want it or not.

This is because COVID-19 may mark not the end, but the dawn of an age in which mankind will be constantly and inescapably peppered with custom-engineered viruses of all kinds. A great many of these will go by the name "vaccine."

We can now be all but certain, for instance, that COVID-19 itself originated in a Chinese bio-lab, as part of an ongoing (and U.S.-funded) project to create extra-contagious and extra-lethal humanized bat coronaviruses — so-called "gain of function" research. (One famed virologist has even argued that COVID originated as a custom target for an experimental HIV vaccine.)
This aspect of COVID-19's origin lends it the surreal distinction of being the world's first wholly man-made pandemic.

So far, the implications of this disturbing reality have not fully dawned on most of our experts, nor on the general population — though it seems the Chinese were very much aware of them at least five years before COVID's world debut.

Only time will tell what happens when the world finally realizes that "Trust the Science" also means "Trust the People Who Deliberately Made COVID-19 and Then Somehow Let It Out."

But at least the release of COVID-19 was, presumably, an accident. What if there were already plans afoot, not only to go on producing novel, contagious hybridized viruses but to release them into the world, this time definitely deliberately — and to do all this under the now-sainted pretext of "vaccination"?

Well, there's little need to wonder anymore — or soon there won't be, thanks to the fledgling scientific field of "self-disseminating," or self-spreading, vaccines.

In a short paper published in February of 2020 in Nature Ecology and Evolution — just as the global hysteria over COVID-19 was taking off — researchers at the University of Idaho described a wondrous new frontier in public health. Their vision: "optimizing the vaccine itself so that it can be effectively passed to other individuals." In effect: Make the vaccine itself a contagion.

In the coming utopia of viral genetic engineering, these scientists explained, vaccines will no longer require physical "jabs" at all. Instead, technocrats will have the option to skip the pesky pitfalls of needle-based vaccines (such as distribution and consent), and get straight to business — by introducing freshly engineered immunizing viruses directly into the environment.

Imagine: full herd immunity could be just one airborne viral release away. Take a deep breath, and your vaccination passport is already in the mail.

Note that the 2020 paper was not some idle think piece tossed out by head-in-the-cloud Ph.D.s on the outskirts of academia. The concept of immunizing populations by making vaccines contagious and then releasing them dates back at least twenty years.

The current effort appears to have been underway since at least 2007, and not just in Idaho: other involved institutions include the University of Texas-Austin, the University of Montana, Rocky Mountain Laboratories, Colorado State University, and U.C.-Davis. All appear to be collaborating through DARPA on a project called PREEMPT, focused on "scalable vectored" viruses — basically, self-spreading vaccines.

For those concerned that the COVID vaccines might not be causing enough reproductive mayhem, self-spreading vaccines should be able to help with that, too. As the Idaho authors note, self-spreading vaccines first arose from efforts to develop "sterilizing vaccines," or "immunocontraception." Make no mistake: sterilizing, self-spreading "vaccines" are a going scientific concern.

Aside from all these interesting qualities, self-spreading vaccines may even be targeted to specific groups based on their behavior. To quote the U. of Idaho authors: "transmissible vaccines will also benefit from delivery to individuals with specific behaviors."

We are likely far closer to the deliberate release of a self-spreading vaccine than we realize. In fact, two of the main COVID vaccines — AstraZeneca and J&J — are themselves probably close to "self-disseminating." Both are based on live, genetically modified adenoviruses — a viral family to which airborne spread comes naturally.

Indeed, examples of accidentally self-spreading human vaccines are already well known in the case of polio. In 2018, oral polio vaccines, spreading on their own, inadvertently paralyzed more individuals than the natural virus itself.

The 2020 paper's authors studiously avoid mentioning the most obvious use case for a self-disseminating vaccine: disease control for human populations. Instead, throughout the paper (and in related earlier ones, as well as in the PREEMPT materials), the scientists act as if this possibility has not even crossed their minds, and they speak only of tailoring their masterpiece viruses to the vaccination of wild animals, or, as they put it, "proactively vaccinating the animal reservoir."

In one spot, though, the authors seem to suffer a curious slip of the tongue as they discuss "whom" to directly vaccinate rather than "which wild animals". Could it be that they have human experimentation on their minds after all?

Much like the gain-of-function work that likely led to COVID, these new reports on self-spreading vaccines submerge deeply disturbing implications under glimmering professions of virtuous intent. Even the motivation is similar: that we must artificially create and even release the most transmissible possible pathogen, so that in case it appears naturally, we will be prepared for it. (Or in this case, "vaccinated" for it.)

Indeed, the similarity is so strong that it's arguable that work on "transmissible vaccines" actually is gain-of-function research, simply renamed.

If there is one thing that these post-COVID times practically scream for, one indisputable action item, it would surely involve a massive awakening to the powers of bioscience gone amok.

Following over a year of hypocritical, ineffectual, and draconian measures from our authorities, and flip-flops and false projections from our designated "knowers," we have seen where such shiny professions of virtue tend to lead. If personal freedom, democracy, and everyday common sense survive in recognizable form beyond 2030 or so, it will surely be in spite of such "virtue," not because of it.

One synthetic pandemic is quite enough, is it not? Must we really wait for our "best and brightest" to unleash another, and another — to work the bugs out of the bugs, so to speak?

How far should we go in "trusting the science" when "the science" becomes obvious lunacy?

Let us hope we find the strength of will to oppose and restrain this unnecessary experimentation, and to restore sanity and humility to those who wield these increasingly godlike tools. If we do not, history is gearing to repeat itself — again and again and again.

New Documents Show Police Charged Thousands Of People For Petty COVID Violations

Newark Police in May 2020. Photo by MT

In March and April of last year, drastic emergency measures were imposed by federal, state, and local government authorities for the stated purpose of curbing the spread of COVID-19. By March 16, 2020, all states had declared a State of Emergency, and by April 7 all states except four had imposed a “Stay at Home” order of some kind. Counties and municipalities also decreed their own separate COVID-related orders. As usual in the US, the details greatly varied by jurisdiction — some measures were far more stringent than others. But in general, a new legal regimen had taken hold across the country, in the name of combatting what was described as a once-in-a-lifetime public health crisis.

From the outset, a pressing question — still yet to be adequately answered — was how exactly these Emergency Orders would be enforced on a practical on-the-ground level. Were police officers being directed to issue summonses and make arrests? If so, under what authority? The diffused patchwork of laws in the US made this difficult to ascertain in any kind of comprehensive way. Last April, I went to Delaware after coming across reports on social media that police were pulling over drivers with out-of-state license plates, pursuant to the Governor's COVID-related Emergency Order. While I wasn’t pulled over myself, I did speak to a number of people who had been — seemingly arbitrarily, since they were from nearby Maryland and routinely came to Delaware for work or other innocuous purposes.

Even if one believed that certain emergency measures were justified under the circumstances, the potentially perilous implications for civil liberties during that period were unmistakable.

State authorities had been vested with vast new power to surveil and monitor citizens, regulate their behavior, and punish them for non-compliance — and yet our knowledge of how these authorities were actually deploying their powers was severely limited. Widespread closure of courts further complicated the situation.

I knew that assembling any kind of nationwide database of arrests and summonses was going to be almost impossible, so I started with jurisdictions that happened to be in my personal vicinity. Last May, I submitted a FOIA request (called an OPRA request in New Jersey) to the Newark, NJ Police Department for records related to their enforcement of COVID-related violations stemming from state and local emergency Executive Orders. I received nothing for almost a year; conveniently, COVID also gave government agencies a built-in excuse to massively delay their response time to these kinds of records requests.

But around two weeks ago, I finally received a CD-ROM with the requested materials. It contained a list of over 2,600 summonses issued in the city of Newark between March 21 and May 13 of 2020 — at least 1,100 of which were expressly related to alleged COVID violations.

The violations are imprecisely categorized, but all had at least something to do with COVID.
The data makes clear that within the March — May 2020 time frame, Newark Police went on a tear charging people with novel interpretations of crimes. One of the statutes they cited to bust people, APP. A:9-49(A), is defined as:
Commit[ing] any unauthorized or otherwise unlawful act during the threat or imminence of danger in any emergency that jeopardizes the health, welfare and safety of the people
Here are some examples of “unauthorized or otherwise unlawful acts” which allegedly contributed to “jeopardiz[ing] the health, welfare, and safety of the people” that police accused people of committing:
  • Sitting in park
  • Sitting and talking to others
  • Sitting on milk crate
  • Visiting with no legitimate purpose
  • Hanging out
  • Being in the street in the company of another
  • In street in the company of others
  • Sitting on bench smoking
  • Encouraging others to not social distance
  • Standing outside enjoying the weather
  • Socializing with another
  • Not Social Distancing
  • Standing without mask
These violations are punishable by up to six months in prison and a fine of $1,000.

On April 16, 2020, a woman was charged by police with violating another statute, 2C:24-7.1A1, defined as “recklessly engag[ing] in conduct which creates a substantial risk of bodily injury to another person.”

Her violation was described by police as: “did knowingly endanger other citizens by no having a face mask as per governor executive order to have one to quell the high rate of covid-19 exposure.” [All typos in these descriptions are police errors]

Here is a small sampling of the summonses issued on one day, April 3, 2020, taken from the police log I obtained:

All the above individuals were charged with “Obstructing Administration of Law or Other Governmental Function,” a disorderly persons offense.

As you can see, a large number of people, most but not all of whom are listed as non-white, were explicitly accused by police of disobeying the orders of the Governor of New Jersey, Phil Murphy. Here are some examples of what police accused citizens of doing in defiance of the Governor. (Again, all typos are theirs, not mine!)

On March 30, a man described as Black was charged with “CONGREGATING WITHOUT MAINTAINING A DISTANCE OF 6FT, AND WITHOUT A DESTINATION, IN VIOLATION OF THE GOVERNOR'S ORDER.”

On April 27, a man described as Black allegedly “failed to obey governor's exec. order by taking part in non-essential travel & failing to social distance.”

On April 28, a man described as Black was issued a summons for “violation of governor's exec. order by not practicing social distancing during covid 19 state of emergency.”

On May 1, a man described as a White Hispanic was issued a summons by police for “Standing in violation of Governors Orders.”

For all of the above violations, police said no warning was given.

I asked a spokesperson for Phil Murphy, Alyana Alfaro Post, what she thought of so many people being ensnared by the criminal justice system for the crime of defying the Governor by doing things like standing outdoors. She responded in typically banal fashion: “Throughout the pandemic, local law enforcement has enforced executive orders and issued citations when they deem appropriate, as they would with regard to any other state law.”

Yes, that’s obvious. The question is what the Governor thinks of the appropriateness of these violations issued in his name. (Murphy is up for re-election this November, by the way.)
Here is what Newark Police spokesperson Catherine Adams emailed me:
Hello: Per Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara, in accordance with Governor Murphy’s Executive Orders 103, 107 and 195 issued on March 3, 2020, March 16, 2020 and November 12, 2020, respectively, did issue summonses to individuals found in violation of said Executive Orders. These summonses were primarily for large gatherings and businesses operating outside of the Executive Order’s prescribed hours.
But that’s clearly not what happened, per the Newark Police’s own records. A significant number of people were issued summonses for claimed offenses such as “Failure to wear a mask,” which is what a Black man was cited for on April 17, with no prior warning given; or “Being outside for nonessential business,” which is what a Hispanic man was cited for on the same day, also with no prior warning given; or “Sitting in front of his home listening to music,” which is what a White Hispanic man was cited for doing on May 2, again with no prior warning given.

Here are some more of the claimed violations:

A man named Richard Brandt was cited for “walking on n. 6th street not wearing a mask or gloves in viiolation of exec. order 107” — right near his residence — on April 27.

He had been with his wife, going for a walk. Brandt told me: “We were by ourselves, she had her mask on. I had my mask in my hand.” Then two cops drove by them in a squad car and stopped specifically to give him the ticket. Brandt said of the main officer, “I think he was a newbie. I’m telling him I’m with my wife, I’m not around anybody. It took him a long time to write it up… The new guy was very nervous, he was almost perspiring giving it to me.”

Many of these citations issued over a year ago are still active cases, according to the NJ Courts online portal. Others appear to have been dismissed at the discretion of the municipal judge or prosecutor. Still, even being brought into the system this way can have serious consequences for people, regardless of how their case is ultimately disposed.

An Egyptian man who said he received asylum in the US got a COVID-related summons while working at a business in Newark that requires in-person service — he was under the impression this was permitted as an “essential” activity. But on April 17, police entered the establishment, asked for IDs, and handed out summonses to the employees present.

For over a year, he worried that the summons could jeopardize his legal status in the US. He’d periodically tried to find out whether he was due in court, or what else may have been required to resolve the situation, but was unable to get a definitive answer. “I don’t like to have a problem with government or police here because it’s not good for my case,” he told me. “And not good in general. Like we say in Egypt, I walk close to the wall. I don’t like problems, I don’t like to make a problem with anyone.”

Only after I contacted him did he learn that his case had in fact been dismissed. He was relieved — but that notwithstanding, given the sensitivity of the asylum process, it’s unknown whether the summons remaining on his record could have any future impact.

A man named Yoram Nazarieh said he briefly went to his furniture store in Newark on April 3 — not to open for normal operations, he specified, just to pick up some documents needed to continue conducting basic transactions remotely. But almost immediately, a group of police officers showed up. He told them, “I'm just here after ten days of not being here, I have responsibilities to people who are calling. I'm here just to pick up my paperwork and leave.”

His protestations were futile. He said the officer who gave him the summons “kept insisting that the sergeant is here, and I have to do what the sergeant tells me.” Nazarieh was charged with a disorderly persons offense.

“I think they practically went down the block and gave to everybody,” he said. The police logs bear this out — several other people around the location of his furniture store were also issued summonses for generic Executive Order violations at approximately the same time, on the same day.

“The whole thing was bogus,” Nazarieh told me. “Even the guy said, they just wanted to show force.” His case is still listed as active.

A Rutgers student said he was in Newark on March 28 to help a friend who had been kicked out of his residence. “At that time, to be honest, I don’t even think the lockdown was in full effect.”

He had no idea that this would lead to him getting a summons. “The officer’s reasoning was invalid because I gave him a clear answer to why I was out past the deadline,” the student told me. “I told both of the officers this as well and still got the summons.”

He was unaware that his case was still active until I contacted him.

Bob DeGroot, a criminal defense lawyer in the city, shared his opinion on these law enforcement tactics with me. “Newark needs to charge people with this like the Chief needs a set of hemorrhoids,” he said. “Because Newark has real crime.”

Karen Thompson, a Senior Staff Attorney for the ACLU of New Jersey, told me that she has just started to obtain similar records from around New Jersey related to COVID violation enforcement. “It's a little breathtaking, the scope,” she said. Given the huge number of summonses issued, and the ambiguity around how they are being handled — Newark Municipal Court is still being conducted over Zoom — there’s a risk that these cases get lost in the system, as often happens with municipal summonses. And that can backfire on those charged. “People get these summonses and they don't know about them, or they're not informed about them. And suddenly it goes from being a summons to someone having an open warrant for their arrest,” she said.

The kicker of all this is that later on in May, Newark (like countless places in the US) hosted massive protests after the death of George Floyd — all of which flatly violated the COVID policies which had up until that point been so strenuously enforced. And these were state-backed protests; they were endorsed by both Governor Murphy and Mayor Ras Baraka, even though both officials had just spent months hectoring ordinary citizens for failing to “socially distance” or for gathering in small crowds outside. Baraka himself was a participant in a protest that violated his own Executive Order — the same order that had been cited by police to charge Newark residents:

Baraka even admitted as much to me at the time: “This is a violation, but we’re doing it anyway,” he said of the protest in Newark last May. (And elected officials wonder why people got fed up with the manifestly arbitrary nature of these enforcement measures.)

The discretionary powers granted to state authorities to curtail the spread of the virus have yet to be fully documented or interrogated. Did these tactics accomplish anything that benefitted public health? Particularly with a year of hindsight, it’s doubtful. Unless “needlessly hassling a bunch of people” somehow counts as a public health triumph.

Self-Spreading Insanity: The Age of Contagious Vaccines
By Olivier B. Simon
May 16, 2021

7_201_9.gif
