Pfizer's Covid vaccine may not work as well if you're fat: Obese people make HALF as many antibodies after getting two doses, study claims
  • Italian study said jabs are 50 per cent less effective in those who are obese
  • But experts said that was 'suspiciously high' and may be linked to small sample
  • Other research has suggested the flu vaccine is half as effective in obese people

Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine may be less effective in obese people, scientists have warned.
Severely overweight healthcare workers generated only half the antibodies to fend off Covid after receiving two doses of the jab, compared to healthy people.

Italian researchers said obese people may need another top-up vaccine, or bigger doses, to protect them against the disease.
The above results show the antibody levels in people of differing weights after getting their second dose. They reveal there was no significant difference between them, suggesting more tests are needed. Separate results indicated the jabs were half as effective in obese people

Severely overweight people are already considered to be more at risk of becoming critically ill or dying if they get infected.

Scientists say this may be because they are more likely to have other conditions —such as diabetes and high blood pressure — that make them more vulnerable.

Experts today said it was also well known obesity — defined as having a BMI above 30 — hampers the effectiveness of jabs.

Previous research has suggested the flu vaccine, which is dished out every winter, could be half as effective in severely overweight people.

But the Italian study, yet to be scrutinised by fellow scientists, is believed to be the first time the same link has been found for Covid.

Carrying added weight can lead to the immune system being constantly inflamed, impairing its function, according to experts.

For comparison, in healthy people it only triggers inflammation when it is fighting an infection.
Almost a third of adults in England and nearly 40 per cent in the US are classed as obese, according to estimates.
They also studied the antibody responses by age, but found no differences in concentrations (error bars are shown to overlap). This suggests that jabs trigger as effective immune responses in over-70s as among younger age groups

They also studied the antibody responses by age, but found no differences in concentrations (error bars are shown to overlap). This suggests that jabs trigger as effective immune responses in over-70s as among younger age groups

In the study, 248 participants received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine at the Rome-based Istituti Fisioterapici Ospitalieri.

Scientists analysed their blood for levels of antibodies seven days after the second dose was administered.

Antibodies are virus-fighting proteins that can stop a Covid infection. They are a major part of the immune system - but not the only part.

Results showed that while those who were a normal weight had a high concentration (325.8), those who were obese had half this level (167.1), on average.

But the study only included 26 obese people, which is considered to be too small to draw concrete conclusions.

And there was no significant difference in results between those who were obese and normal weight, meaning more tests are needed.

The study was only published as a pre-print on medRxiv, and its methodology and findings have yet to be peer-reviewed.

It also considered vaccine responses by age — but found no significant difference between the different groups.

Professor Ian Jones, a virologist at the University of Reading, told MailOnline he thought the figures looked 'suspiciously high'.

'It's probably the small numbers (of participants),' he said. 'But that an effect is seen is not surprising.

'It would be nothing to do with the vaccine, all would be similar. It is the individual's response that is compromised.'

He added it was a 'general finding' that jabs are less effective in obese people.

'It's not entirely clear why but it may be related to metabolic syndrome which in turn has a knock-on effect to many cell functions, including immunity,' he said.

Metabolic syndrome is the medical term for a cluster of conditions, including high blood pressure, heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

WHY MIGHT OBESE PEOPLE MORE AT RISK OF BECOMING VERY ILL FROM COVID-19?
Studies have shown obese people are more likely to suffer serious complications or die from infections, such as the flu.
Doctors say the immune systems of fat people are constantly ramped up as they try to protect and repair the damage inflammation causes to cells.
Using all its energy fending off inflammation means the body's defence system has few resources left to defend against a new infection like Covid-19.
Dr Dyan Sellayah, a lecturer in cellular and organismal metabolism, University of Reading, said obese people tend to have dysfunctional immune systems.
'Their fat tissue for example becomes a reservoir for immune cells known as macrophages. While these cells reside in our fat under normal circumstances, in obesity they are at higher frequency and become more troublesome (they start to secrete inflammatory cytokines) and negatively impact on immune and metabolic health.'
Obese people might eat a diet with very little fiber and antioxidants - which keep the immune system healthy - such as fruit and vegetables.
Most patients with a BMI of over 40 suffer from breathing problems that range from simple shortness of breath to a potentially life-threatening condition known as obesity hypoventilation syndrome (OHS).
Public Health England (PHE) has previously suggested that obesity leads to fatty tissue around the upper airway, and a heavy chest can directly reduce lung function.
Excess weight may make it more difficult for the diaphragm and lungs to expand and inhale oxygen. Starved of oxygen, organs will begin to fail.
But other experts have disagreed with this theory, saying severely ill Covid-19 patients end up on ventilators anyway and still end up with worse outcomes.
There are several other factors that may increase an obese person's chance of falling seriously ill with coronavirus, including a lack of exercise.
Studies have shown that physical activity increases the numbers of certain immune cells that help to bolster immune activity.
Clogged up arteries also make it hard for blood carrying immune cells to pass through and repair cells around the body.

Virus isolates, variants, strains - what are they?

•Mar 1, 2021

Vincent Racaniello

Many virology terms are being used these days by people who do not understand their meaning. Included are journalists, medical doctors, scientists, lawyers, and people from all walks of life. In normal times this word mis-usage would be so rare that it would not matter. However, because we are in a viral pandemic that affects nearly everyone, I will attempt to explain the meaning of virus isolates, variants, and strains.

After Border Patrol release, asylum-seekers test positive for Covid in Brownsville, Texas

A number of migrants seeking asylum and released by Border Patrol have tested positive to Covid-19 tests in Brownsville, Texas. Some plan to continue their journey to other cities and states.

March 2, 2021, 12:08 PM PST
By Damià Bonmatí, Noticias Telemundo Investiga and Martha Alicia López

BROWNSVILLE, Texas — Miriam Izaguirre, a 35-year-old asylum-seeker from Honduras, crossed the Rio Grande at dawn Monday with her young son and turned herself in to the authorities.

A few hours later she was released, and the first thing she did was take a rapid test for Covid-19 at the Brownsville bus station. They told her her test came out positive.

"Right now we were tested for Covid and they separated about eight of us because we were positive," she told Noticias Telemundo Investiga. "We are waiting right now." She was waiting to catch a bus to Houston.

Other migrant families who also said they had tested positive were waiting to go to other destinations: North Carolina, Maryland and New Jersey.

The city of Brownsville administers these rapid tests at the bus station, after migrant families are released by the Border Patrol. A spokesperson for Brownsville confirmed that, since they began doing these tests Jan. 25, 108 migrants have tested positive for Covid-19, which is 6.3 percent of those who took the test.

In response to Noticias Telemundo Investiga, a spokesperson for the city said in an email that Brownsville does not have the authority to retain these migrants who plan to travel to dozens of cities throughout the country. The city assured that municipal workers recommend to those who test positive to keep quarantine as indicated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The city employees suggest to families they go to nongovernment organizations (NGOs) and nonprofits in the the border area who can take them in and isolate them in order to keep quarantine.

"The City of Brownsville continues to follow all guidelines provided by the CDC and DSHS for Covid-19. The migrants who test positive at the B-Metro facility are advised of quarantine procedures and are asked to socially distance," Felipe Romero, Brownsville's communications and marketing director, said in an emailed statement. DSHS refers to the state's Department of State Health Services.

"There are several NGOs providing resources to a positive case," the email states. "For example, organizations help with quarantine either in a shelter or at hotel. Since the City started testing the migrants on January 25, there has been 6.3% of positive cases. The Cameron County positivity rate is 13.8%."

Several of the asylum-seekers who tested positive told Noticias Telemundo Investiga they were planning to leave Brownsville for their destinations; one of them bought a bus ticket for the journey.

Eva Orellana, 29, who is from Honduras and who tested positive, said she was going to take the bus to North Carolina with her 3-year-old daughter. "On the way, we were wearing a mask all the time, gel, washing our hands," she said. "Really, I don't feel anything."

Those who tested positive and spoke to Telemundo did not have any document indicating their Covid-19 test results; they said they were simply told by the station workers after taking the test.

They said the station workers told them to wait in a different waiting area than the rest of the migrant families, but they still had freedom to move, a few meters from the rest.

Noticias Telemundo Investiga asked Customs and Border Patrol about the release of migrant families and Covid-19 testing. A spokesperson said in an email that CBP personnel conduct initial inspections for symptoms or risk factors associated with Covid-19 and consult as appropriate with onsite medical personnel, the CDC or local health systems.

Suspected Covid-19 cases "are referred to local health systems for appropriate testing, diagnosis, and treatment," according to CBP.

At the station, Martín Fernández, an Omnibus Express worker, said that the bus company where he works respects the protocols of federal authorities: passengers must wear masks on board the vehicle and use hand sanitizer gel. But they cannot, he clarified, ask passengers for Covid-19 tests before getting on buses.

For years, bus stations have been at the the epicenter of the arrival of migrants to the border. Different administrations have released tens of thousands of immigrant families in these buildings and, from there, they buy tickets to reach the residences of their relatives in the United States.

They are long routes, sometimes lasting days, crossing the country from station to station. Migrants are usually released with a permit called "parole" or under supervision with an ankle monitor. Once they are at their new destinations, they continue their asylum processes to try to stay in the United States.

The last few weeks has seen an increase in the number of families who have been allowed to enter the U.S. and continue their quest for asylum, as Noticias Telemundo Investiga has verified.

1 In 20 Asylum Seekers Test Positive For COVID At US Border.

Migrants crossing the U.S. southern border and testing positive for COVID-19 are free to board buses and continue cross-country journeys into the United States, a new report has revealed.

At a bus station in Brownsville, Texas, border-crossers released by U.S. Border Patrol receive a rapid COVID-19 test before boarding buses to their intended destinations throughout the United States.

Destinations include Texas, North Carolina, Maryland, and even up to New Jersey.
Over one in 20 have tested positive.

A spokesman for the City of Brownsville confirmed they don’t have the authority to stop migrants who test positive from getting on buses to the rest of the country. Municipal workers can only recommend that those who test positive ask local non-government groups and nonprofits to help them find somewhere to quarantine.

“The City of Brownsville continues to follow all guidelines provided by the CDC and DSHS for Covid-19. The migrants who test positive at the B-Metro facility are advised of quarantine procedures and are asked to socially distance,” a Brownsville spokesperson said.

Some of those who tested positive told Noticias Telemundo Investiga they intended to wear masks, wash their hands, and continue their journeys through and into the United States.

Immigrants who have recently crossed the southern border frequently travel by bus to their relatives in the United States, and while bus companies follow CDC mitigation protocols, they can’t require a COVID-19 test to board the bus.

267 - When Will Children Be Vaccinated Against COVID-19?

•Mar 4, 2021

Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health

With a limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines, the focus has been on getting the most vulnerable vaccinated first. But to reach the kind of population-level immunity needed to truly curb the pandemic, children will also need to be vaccinated. Dr. Kawsar Talaat, who led one of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine trials in adults, talks with Stephanie Desmon about when and how vaccines will be authorized for children.

British Government Study Confirms Covid-19 Vaccine Risk: Infections INCREASE in Fortnight after Jab

By Jim Hoft
Published March 4, 2021 at 8:15am

Guest post by Dr Niall McCrae

Anyone raising concern about the safety of Covid-19 vaccines faces derision as an ‘anti-vaxxer’, but the real extremists are those who refuse to hear evidence that something is going badly wrong with this mass experimental encroachment on the sanctity of the body. Now a Public Health England report confirms that infections increase during the fortnight after vaccination.

As the vaccination program began in earnest in January, worrying signs came from care homes, where many of the initial target population of people aged over 80 reside. At Pemberley House in Basingstoke, England, a third of the residents died of Covid-19. The death toll of 24 was unusual in a home that had previously been free from the disease. Similar reports emerged from Germany.

The clearest indications came from small countries that strove to vaccinate their entire adult population. The British enclave of Gibraltar was supplied with the Pfizer vaccine on 16th January and the elderly were swiftly jabbed. Suddenly this tiny state, home to 33 thousand, had the worst Covid-19 morality in the world (2761 per million). From merely 9 deaths in December, now almost a hundred have died. The health minister angrily denied claims that the vaccine was killing people but eventually admitted that some deaths had occurred soon after the jab.

The United Arab Emirates received large batches of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine as well as the Pfizer product in December. As stated by Amer Sharif, head of the Covid-19 Command & Control Centre in Dubai, the UAE aimed to be the first country in the world to achieve 100% vaccination of eligible adults. An increase in deaths was attributed to mutant strains, but as in other countries the rate rose disproportionately in the vaccinated age band. On 10th February a new daily high of 18 deaths from the coronavirus was recorded, and the trend has continued. Considerably more people are dying than in the first wave last spring.

More evidence of iatrogenic harm came from Israel, which started vaccinating on 19th December. As reported by former New York Times journalist Alex Berenson, while Covid-19 mortality escalated among Israelis throughout January, in Palestine it declined steeply after a surge in December. Yet the Palestinians had no vaccine.

This correlation is more than coincidental. Analysis of Israeli health ministry data by Hervé Seligmann at Aix-Marseilles University indicates that about 40 times more elderly people died of Covid-19 in the three weeks between their first and second doses than among those who were not vaccinated. Sacrificial lambs? Deaths in Israel are now falling, which politicians and media attribute to the vaccine, although there is a global trend of the virus becoming less deadly.

It should not be unexpected that Covid-19 vaccines have deleterious as well as intended effects. Pfizer data shows significant lymphocyte depletion in the first week after vaccination. June Raine, chief of the UK medicines regulator MHRA, acknowledged that ‘a week or two’ is needed to build up immunity after the first jab.

The Public Health England study, which was hailed by health secretary Matt Hancock for the reported 80% decrease in hospitalizations, actually showed a 48% rise in infections after the first dose of Pfizer and Astra Zeneca vaccines. The authors, however, blamed this on a higher risk of exposure. Mary Ramsay, head of immunizations at PHE, stated that ‘this adds to growing evidence that the vaccines are working to reduce infections and save lives’. She glossed over the hundreds who died after getting the jab.

This is what may be happening. Vulnerable people who unknowingly had Covid-19 or whose immune system was keeping it at bay, succumbed to the disease after the vaccine lowered their immunity. The virus struck hard, leading to severe symptoms, cytokine storms and pneumonia.

It is also possible that previously shielding persons were cross-infected by the vaccinators.

This needs proper scrutiny, not reckless denial by those who are meant to protect us. This defensiveness and censorship is how the thalidomide scandal arose. The authorities have apparently cast aside everything we have learned about ethical safeguards in clinical and experimental treatment. Perhaps it is relevant that the British medicine regulator is heavily funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Why aren’t doctors raising the alert? In medical training, hardly a day is given to learning about vaccines, and Big Pharma has undue influence on this noble profession. With critical thinking and dissent stifled by the Covid regime, most doctors are mere conformists. We must appeal to the brave few medics to continue their efforts to expose the deadly hazard of this highly dubious intervention.

Gov. Abbott Slams Biden for Spreading COVID by Releasing Infected Migrants into Texas

By Kristinn Taylor
Published March 4, 2021 at 10:57am

Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) slammed Joe Biden for releasing over a hundred migrants infected with the COVID-19 China coronavirus in south Texas in recent weeks, noting that many of the migrants are then leaving Texas for other states, spreading the highly contagious virus as they move about the country.

A report by Noticias Telemundo Investiga this week reported the Biden administration is releasing COVID positive migrants in Brownsville, Texas without testing or quarantine. The migrants are being tested by local authorities where they gather at a bus stop to travel to other states, however they have no authority to detain them thereby leaving the infected migrants free to spread the virus throughout the U.S.

Abbott spoke out on Twitter Wednesday night, “The Biden Administration is recklessly releasing hundreds of illegal immigrants who have COVID into Texas communities. The Biden Admin. must IMMEDIATELY end this callous act that exposes Texans & Americans to COVID.”

And Thursday morning in interviews with Fox, “”The Biden administration was releasing illegal immigrants into our communities who had COVID. The Biden administration was spreading COVID in South Texas yesterday.”

…and CNBC, “The Biden administration has been releasing immigrants in South Texas that have been exposing Texans to Covid. Some of those people have been put on busses, taking that Covid to other states in the United States,” Abbott told CNBC. “That is Neanderthal-type approach to dealing with the Covid situation.”…“The Biden administration must stop importing Covid into our country/”

Biden on Wednesday criticized Abbott and Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves (R) for relaxing pandemic restrictions, calling the move “Neanderthal thinking”.

Reeves responded to Biden, saying, “President Biden said allowing Mississippians to decide how to protect themselves is “neanderthal thinking.” Mississippians don’t need handlers. As numbers drop, they can assess their choices and listen to experts. I guess I just think we should trust Americans, not insult them.”

High obesity rate in U.S. to blame for having one of world's worst COVID-19 rates, study finds

World Obesity Federation found 90% of COVID deaths occurred in countries in which more than half of adults are overweight

The World Obesity Federation has found that COVID-19 deaths have been 10 times higher in countries in which more than half of adults are overweight – and 90% of all deaths from the virus worldwide have occurred there.

The federation said the connection may account for the high death rate in the U.S., in which 69.7% of its adult population is overweight. That means nearly 70 million adult Americans are obese.

Nearly 518,000 Americans have died of the virus. That's nearly double the next closest nation, Brazil, which has had some 259,000 deaths from COVID-19. But when the size of a country's population is factored in, the U.S. has the eighth-worst COVID-19 death rate, with 152.5 victims per 100,000 people.

Many health agencies in states across the U.S. have included obesity as a chronic conditions that allows people earlier access to COVID-19 vaccines, as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended.

The WHO called the findings a "wake-up call" for the West, where sedentary jobs and fattening fast food mean more obesity.

The federation said 2.2 million of the world's 2.5 million COVID-19 deaths so far have occurred in countries where 50% or more of the population is overweight.

"Increased body weight is the second greatest predictor of hospitalization and a high risk of death for people suffering from Covid-19," the report said.

"Only old age rates as a higher risk factor. The unprecedented economic costs of Covid-19 are largely due to the measures taken to avoid the excess hospitalization and need for treatment of the disease," the federation said. "Reducing one major risk factor, overweight, would have resulted in far less stress on health services and reduced the need to protect those services from being overwhelmed."

Inflation Will Destroy the Middle Class
And Biden’s massive stimulus bill won’t help matters.
by MICHAEL WILKERSON
March 3, 2021, 1:53 PM

Elena Elisseeva/Shutterstock.com
shutterstock_35747899-e1614284419709.jpg

The prospect of inflation in the United States has moved quickly from a fringe idea to become the consensus among the financial literati. With a proposed $1.9 trillion stimulus package following unspent previous rounds, the Federal Reserve is forcing excess liquidity into markets where it has no place to go other than fueling financial asset bubbles.

As I wrote recently, there are multiple warning signs in financial, energy, food, and other commodity markets that the inexorable process has begun. Inflation is now running much hotter than anyone would have expected. As pent-up demand is unleashed with the reopening of our economies, inflationary pressures will only accelerate. The debate is now focused on when and how severely, rather than if, inflation will emerge, and whether it will be transitory or long-lasting.

What is being passed over in the discussion is a simple but terrible truth: a prolonged inflation will destroy the already weakened middle class and worsen the widening wealth gap in America. By pushing this additional stimulus package, which once again has very little going into the hands of those who need it most, the Biden administration may be walking into a policy trap that will favor the elites at the expense of ordinary Americans. Not that we should be surprised at this, but it’s frightening nonetheless. The middle class will bear the brunt of inflation through rising food, energy, and other prices. Then, later, when government tries to tamp down on rising inflation through higher taxes, the middle class will see its income squeezed even more. Inflation will further increase the income and wealth inequality between those who rely on their labor (i.e., the middle class) and those who, at least for the time being, benefit from the financial market’s inflation-fueled euphoria.
A prolonged inflation will destroy the already weakened middle class and worsen the widening wealth gap in America.
The last time we saw income and wealth inequality in the United States as bad as it is today was the 1930s. This led to substantial social and labor unrest, some of it violent. The Second World War had a leveling effect, and the economic resurgence that followed gave rise to the power and cultural predominance of the middle class in America. But the U.S. is now growing substantially less equal. Indeed, inequality has been rising for the last 45 years. During this time, wealth has been shifting towards capital and away from labor, and national income has become more concentrated at the top with the rise of an elite managerial class. An analysis published in September 2020 by the RAND Corporation showed that the top 1 percent of income earners took home 22 percent of taxable national income in 2018, compared with 9 percent in 1975. Over the same time frame, the bottom 90 percent of income earners saw their share of national income fall from 67 percent to 50 percent. There are no signs that this trend will reverse itself anytime soon. Inflation will only make it worse.
The top 1 percent of income and wealth will be the biggest winners in an inflationary environment. Rentiers (those living on income from property or investments), traders (of goods), speculators (in financial assets), and others who are already wealthy will quickly learn how to navigate in and profit from inflation. Globalist jet-setters can shift between currencies.

The 2 percent of accounts that hold 98 percent of Bitcoin can use cryptocurrencies as a hedge against inflation and manipulate prices along the way. Fixed-rate debtors (e.g., homeowners with fixed-rate mortgages) will have some protection, as housing stock values tend to rise with inflation.

The middle class will, on the other hand, be the biggest loser in a sustained inflation.

Government workers, administrators, entry-level and middle-management employees, and other salaried workers will see their purchasing power steadily erode. Food and energy commodities will begin to consume the majority of disposable income. The moderately wealthy — doctors, lawyers, engineers, anyone from the professional class, which relies on cash income — will fare no better. Variable-rate borrowers (i.e., credit card debtors and those with floating-rate mortgages) will see rates skyrocket. Most of the middle class do not have opportunity to reset income annually, let alone monthly, weekly, or daily, as is required in severe inflations.

While teachers and other union workers may be able to reset periodically through labor actions and unrest, these moves will still lag behind the cost of living. Those worst off will be elderly retirees and others relying on bonds and fixed incomes. For those unable to rejoin the workforce, an entire life’s savings may dwindle to be worth less than the cost of a trip to Starbucks.

The middle class exists because it has been successful in transforming hard work into investments (mostly housing), savings, and other stores of value. It then passes those benefits on to subsequent generations through better education and inheritance. One writer explains it this way: “The traditional ladder of social mobility from working class to middle class has to do with capitalizing work: time and savings are invested in higher education.… [W]hat separates the working class from the middle class is the ability to transform labor into capital while the labor of the working class only funds consumption.”

Inflation will eviscerate the stored value that the middle class holds in cash, savings, retirement accounts, bonds, etc., while greatly reducing the purchasing power of income from wages and salaries. In a prolonged inflation, the middle class will, like the working class, be forced to use all of its income to fund consumption, primarily consisting of shelter, food, and energy.

Because, at least for most, income will not be able to rise as quickly as food, energy, and other costs, the middle class will begin a divestment process in which it disgorges stores of value.

Financial investments along with hard assets such as jewelry, metals, and coins, and even furniture and vehicles, will be monetized to maintain consumption of basic goods and to pay ever-increasing taxes.

Not only is this process unjust, it is also dangerous. Even a cursory reading of history demonstrates that whenever there are economic dislocations of this magnitude, social and political unrest inevitably follows. It’s time for our leadership, both government and corporate, to recognize the potential dangers here and take actionable steps including investing in the real economy. While there is no silver bullet, the priority should be on job creation and reopening our schools and local economies through initiatives for small and medium-sized businesses. Throwing more stimulus money at pork-barrel projects will not only not solve our problems but will have severe unintended consequences over the long run.

VIDEO: Biden Shuts Down Press Conference After Question About Excluding Middle Class From $1,400 Stimulus

President Joe Biden appeared flustered by a question about his administration’s decision to severely restrict the viability requirements for receiving a $1,400 direct stimulus payment on Wednesday, refusing to answer the question and ending the question and answer session early.

“Are you comfortable having to limit the direct payments?” Biden was asked.

“Yes,” he responded in the affirmative.

Biden was then asked, “What do you say to the 12 million Americans who won’t receive checks anymore?”

The visibly flustered President raised his hand as if preparing a response, then shook his head.

“Sorry I couldn’t hear, thank you all for coming.”

Millions of Americans families are now ineligible for the direct stimulus under the Biden plan that were eligible for the Trump stimulus, meaning any positive effect the Biden payments will have on helping American families is dubious at best.

Earlier this week, the White House abruptly shut down a livestream after the President said he was willing to answer questions from the audience:
The White House abruptly cut off the live feed feed for an event President Joe Biden was hosting with the House Democratic Caucus after the commander-in-chief appeared to venture off-script by saying he would be willing to answer questions from the audience.

Biden appeared with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and other members of the Democratic Party during the live event, and spoke about his administration’s ongoing obsession with COVID-19 and the steps purportedly taken to halt its spread.
“I’d be happy to take questions if that’s what I’m supposed to do, Nance,” Biden said to Pelosi. “Whatever you want me to do.”
Within moments, the feed cut to a blue screen, and President Biden was no longer visible. A “Thank You For Joining” message informed viewers that the event was now over.
Biden has yet to hold an official live question-and-answer style press conference at the White House.

VIDEO: Visibly Shaken Fauci Gets Emotional Over States’ Decision To Reject His Guidelines, End Mask Mandates

Biden White House Covid advisor Anthony Fauci appeared visibly shaken by the news that multiple states have now rejected his calls for mask mandates and massive lockdowns continuing throughout the whole of 2020, stating that the legal decisions made by multiple states to re-open are “inexplicable.”

“It just is inexplicable why you would want to pull back now,” the highest paid federal employee in the United States complained. “I understand the need to want to get back to normality but you’re only gonna set yourself back if you just completely push aside the public health guidelines.”

Multiple states have decided in a bipartisan fashion – ranging from Republican-led Texas to Democrat-led Connecticut – to end COVID lockdowns and mask mandates and stop listening to Fauci’s increasingly vague “guidelines.”

Fauci himself supported a ban on quarantines during the Ebola virus scare of 2014 because they would have made his colleagues “uncomfortable”:
In 2014, Fauci slammed then-governor of New Jersey Chris Christie for enforcing mandatory quarantines against healthcare workers who had traveled to Africa to spend prolonged periods of time around people infected with the Ebola virus.
Fauci also stated, “We appreciate the fears of the American people, but you don’t want to have policy that would have negative unintended consequences… If you put everyone in one basket, even people who are clearly no threat, then we have the problem of the disincentive of people that we need.”
During an interview with NBC in 2014, Fauci said that government officials “need to treat returning people with respect” because “they’re really heroes.”
“We’re being a little bit draconian,” the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases warned, complaining that the quarantines could make his colleagues “very, very uncomfortable.”
Fauci received a $1 million cash prize from Israel on Monday for his work “courageously defending science” against “uninformed opposition,” as well as his work studying AIDs by visiting gay bars and bathhouses.

Fauci says military members who opt out of Covid vaccine are inadvertently ‘part of the problem’

WASHINGTON – White House Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said Thursday that U.S. service members who are eligible to get the Covid-19 vaccine but opt out are inadvertently “part of the problem” of lengthening the pandemic.

“You’re part of the solution to this outbreak,” explained Fauci to a virtual audience during a town hall with Blue Star Families, a non-profit dedicated to issues facing military families.

“Because by getting infected, even though you may not know it, you may be inadvertently transmitting the infection to someone else, even though you have no symptoms,” Fauci said. “In reality, like it or not, you’re propagating this outbreak. So instead of being part of the solution, you are innocently and inadvertently being part of the problem by not getting vaccinated.”

“You’ve got to think of your own health, which is really very important, but you got to think about your societal obligation, including people close to you personally as well as other members of families of other individuals,” Fauci said.

Last month, the Pentagon acknowledged that about one-third of U.S. military service members declined to take the voluntary coronavirus vaccine.

When asked if military leadership were disappointed with the revelation, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby told reporters last month that the decision to take the vaccine was ultimately up to each member of the force.

“Everybody is different and we want — what the secretary wants — is for the men and women of the department to make the best and most informed decision for them and for their health and the health of their families,” Kirby said, adding that Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin did get the vaccine.

Meanwhile, the military’s U.S. Northern Command, which is responsible for the Pentagon’s coronavirus efforts, has tasked thousands of service members to help vaccinate communities across the nation.

Last week, Austin embarked on his first official trip since ascending to the top spot at the Pentagon to meet with military commanders overseeing the Covid-19 response effort in California.

Austin also visited a FEMA vaccination center in Los Angeles, the first staffed by both active-duty military teams as well as National Guard personnel.

Austin said the Pentagon has prioritized getting factual information out to the force in order to bolster confidence.

“There’s a degree of mistrust and I think we have to collectively work hard to dispel rumors and to provide facts to people,” Austin told reporters traveling with him. “And it’s been my experience that when armed with the facts, people will tend to make the right decisions.”

“My counsel to everyone is, I mean, this saves lives. And it’s not just about saving our life, it’s about saving our partner’s life, our neighbor’s life, and in the military, you know, we thrive on teamwork and we have to think about our teammates, as well,” he added.

Japan Supercomputer Finds Double-Masking Doesn't Work

FRIDAY, MAR 05, 2021 - 20:00

Many Americans are asking themselves: Is double making offering more protection against COVID-19 than a single mask?

To answer that question, we ask readers: Does anyone wear two condoms?

The answer is probably no. But members of the Biden administration and at least one state governor are touting the extra benefits of double masking.

Last month, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the chief medical advisor to the president and the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, initially said, "there's no data that indicates that that is going to make a difference." He then flip-flopped, saying that the CDC is investigating "whether two masks may be better than one" and added that "it makes common sense"... and added that the reason they have not recommended it until now is that "they are a science-based organization."

Fauci then added, unscientifically, "if one mask serves as a physical barrier, it makes common sense, and certainly can't hurt and might help to wear two masks."

This week, California Governor Gavin Newsom also doubled-down (literally) on double making following Texas and Mississippi actions to go maskless.
"We will be doubling down on mask-wearing," said Newsom on Thursday, "not arguing to follow the example of Texas and other states that I think are making a terrible mistake."
According to Reuters, science doesn't bode well for the folks pushing double masks.

A Japanese supercomputer simulation showed this week that wearing two layers of masks provided minimal benefit in blocking the virus.

A study released by scientific research institute Riken and Kobe University on Thursday contradict Fauci and Newsom's recommendations that double masking is "common sense."
"Researchers used the Fugaku supercomputer to model the flow of virus particles from people wearing different types and combinations of mask," according to Reuters.

They found a single surgical-type mask had 85% effectiveness in blocking particles if worn correctly, and a polyurethane mask was around 89%.

Researchers said wearing two masks doesn't help because it builds air resistance and causes leakage around the edges.
"The performance of double masking simply does not add up," wrote lead researcher Makoto Tsubokura.

In this presentation slide supplied by the Riken Center for Computational Sciences. Red is a loosely fitted non-woven mask. Green is a fitted non-woven mask. Green and brown are a non-woven mask with a polyurethane one on top. The bar graph illustrates the "droplet collection efficiency". The blue bar shows the results of wearing loose-fit non-woven (surgical) mask. while red shows a fitted non-woven mask, and purple shows a fitted non-woven mask plus polyurethane mask.
“Wearing two masks does not make them twice as effective but only slightly more so,” Tsubokura added cited by the Asahi Shimbun newspaper.
Wearing one nonwoven mask is enough, and make sure it is put on properly without leaving a gap between the fabric and the nose.”
As JapanToday notes, the findings in part contradict recent recommendations from the U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that two masks were better than one at reducing a person's exposure to the coronavirus.

So if two masks don't work, proven by a Japanese supercomputer, then what is the underlying agenda by US government officials who parade themselves around media outlets touting double making is "common sense"?

Trudeau gov’t to ignore warning that seniors not be given newly approved AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine

Germany has also said that the abortion-tainted vaccine should not be given to those over 65, with Italy saying those 55 or older should get an alternative shot

CANADA, March 3, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced last Friday that Health Canada had approved the abortion-tainted AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine for use in Canadians over the age of 18. A government-run immunization committee warned, however, that this vaccine should not be given to seniors due to lack of knowledge about how it might affect this group. Despite this, Trudeau’s government said it will ignore the advice and administer the vaccine to people 65 years of age and older, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Trudeau said that Canada will purchase a total of 20 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, and among 1.9 million and 3.2 million additional doses through COVAX, which is a global vaccine-sharing program.

Health Canada's chief medical adviser Dr. Supriya Sharma said that Canadians are “hungry for vaccines," and compared them to a buffet by saying, “We're putting more on the buffet table to be used."

The vaccine approval officially came on February 26 under Canada’s Minister of Health Patricia Hajdu’s September 16, 2020 “interim order” that allows for the “importation, sale and advertising” of COVID-19 vaccines to be “expedited” in Canada.

Canada’s National Advisory Committee (NACI) on Immunization said that the AstraZeneca vaccine should not be given to those over 65, due to “lack of information” about how the vaccine performs in the older age group.

Germany has also said that the vaccine should not be given to those over 65, with Italy saying those 55 or older should get an alternative shot.

Health Canada decided to ignore the warnings.

“Health Canada has rigorously evaluated the data available from AstraZeneca clinical trials and determined that this vaccine is safe to be administered in people over 65 years of age and older,” a spokeswoman for the department told Wall Streesaid in a statement sent by email. She added that a warning label will be attached to the AstraZeneca vaccine stating that trials did not have a sufficient number of those aged 65 and over to determine its efficacy.

Last month, dozens of teachers in Northern Italy called in sick after receiving the AstraZeneca jab.

On Tuesday, Michelle Rempel Garner, Conservative Party of Canada Shadow Minister for Health, called for an emergency Health Committee meeting regarding the approval of the AstraZeneca shot in light of the NACI’s concerns.

“Recent media reports have indicated that NACI has recommended against vaccinating Canadians over the age of 65 with the AstraZeneca vaccine, but Health Canada is planning to ignore this advice and proceed with recommending the vaccine be administered to this cohort,” she said on March 2.

Rempel said Canadians need “more information about” the vaccine before it’s given out to seniors.

The British-Swedish pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca developed its COVID-19 vaccine in collaboration with Oxford University. It is made through the cultivation of a weakened SARS-CoV-2 virus in the HEK-293 cell line, which is derived from the kidney of a baby girl aborted in the Netherlands in the 1970s.

At LifeSiteNews’ recent “Unmasking COVID-19: Vaccines, Mandates, and Global Health”, biologist Pamela Acker spoke about how infants were aborted while still alive in order to get usable cell lines for research and medical purposes.

The AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine joins the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines (which both are also abortion-tainted) as those approved for use in Canada.

In December of 2020, Health Canada put out a warning to Canadians that they should avoid the Pfizer jab if they are allergic to any of its listed ingredients.

At Friday’s announcement of the AstraZeneca vaccine, Trudeau said that there are both “pros and cons” to the idea of so-called COVID-19 “immunity passports” in Canada.

According to Stein he was horrible sick for days following the injection.
Ben Stein: I had the COVID booster by Moderno four or five days ago and I am still feeling wild side effects from it like I have the worst flu in the world, extreme shortness of breath, dizziness, fatigue, extreme irrational thinking. And it has just been devastating.
The video is posted on Banned.video because we all know the tech giants will not approve of anti-vaccine testimonials.

'Fear' Is The New 'Smart'

SATURDAY, MAR 06, 2021 - 11:20
Authored by Raul Ilargi Meijer via The Automatic Earth blog,

The Washington Post said recently: “The anti-vaccine movement is comparable to domestic terrorism, and must be treated that way”, while the Guardian had this:
“When it comes to shifting attitudes to vaccines, it is crucial to distinguish between public information campaigns that seek to educate the public and those that seek to persuade them,” said Philipp Schmid, a behavioural scientist researching vaccine scepticism at the University of Erfurt. “[..] if you don’t proactively tackle the problem at all, you end up playing catch-up with the anti-vaxxers. In a way, governments have to work on a parallel vaccine rollout – immunising the public against science denial.”
But WHO spokesperson Margaret Harris said: “it’s very important for people to understand that at the moment, all we know about the vaccines is that they will very effectively reduce your risk of severe disease. We haven’t seen any evidence yet indicating whether or not they stop transmission.” And Dr. David Martin claimed: It’s Gene Therapy, Not a Vaccine. One might add: It’s not science, it’s a sales job.

Now, I don’t know exactly who the WaPo refers to when they say “the anti-vaccine movement”, or that German guy with “the anti-vaxxers”, but it appears there is a widespread movement going on to promote mRNA vaccines, both by governments and by the press. And we’re not supposed to ask questions. Well, I’m sorry, but I make a living asking questions. And I think asking questions is not just everybody’s right, it’s an obligation. So don’t come at me with “domestic terrorism” or “anti-vaxxers”, a term that has nothing to do with the topic to begin with. Asking questions is not the same as being against something.

In essence the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA substances are a giant experiment, nothing else. If you can tell me what the logic is behind injecting -soon- hundreds of millions of people with something about which the WHO itself says: “we haven’t seen any evidence yet indicating whether or not they stop transmission,” try me. And how you get from there to issuing “vaccine passports” is as puzzling as the entire propaganda campaign. Who’s engaging in “science denial” here? In its core essence, an Emergency Use Authorization is unscientific.

A vaccine used to mean something that relied on -mostly- dead virus material to get your body to produce immunity “material”. What mRNA does -in this case – is force your body to produce an S1 spike protein, which is toxic to your body. Someone compared it to sticking a USB stick in your body, but one you can never take out anymore. Actually, it’s more like sticking such a USB stick into -almost- every single cell of your body. Forever.

Can it be successful? Maybe, but we have no idea. No research. No clue what mRNA does in the long term. There’s a lot of concern about what it might do to our immune systems. So lots of questions. But we’re not allowed to ask those questions, because then we’re domestic terrorists. Or maybe we can ask them, but only after getting inoculated.

There’s an eery similarity here to the banning of Huckleberry Finn, the Odysseus, and Dr. Suess. We apparently cannot be trusted to form our own opinions anymore. And if we apply the same rules that got Mark Twain and Dr. Suess banned, how on earth can the Bible remain politically acceptable? I’m sure they’ll get to that yet.

And the press help shape this new world, and Big Tech becomes Big Brother. There’s nothing either journalists or 20-something social media “guardians” like more than to tell you what you can see, hear, read or think, and I bet you never imagined that’s what George Orwell imagined. Or Mark Twain, for that matter. There is no real difference between banning books and burning them.

The way this is broadcast to us, is that the mRNA substances are safe, based on the fact that not too many people have died from being “vaccinated”. But not only are short-term effects not the main worry about them, there are already plenty headlines like this:
  • Injuries Reported to CDC After COVID Vaccines Climb by 4,000 in One Week
  • 34 Spontaneous Miscarriages, Stillbirths After COVID-19 Vaccination
  • Danger of mRNA Vaccines To Elderly: 16 Deaths In Switzerland
  • Norway warns of Covid-19 vaccine risk after 23 die
When you see that in Germany, France and Switzerland, half of care home workers don’t want to get vaccinated, perhaps it’s good to ask a question. Or how about this: “About 60% Of Nursing Home Staff Declined Covid Vaccines, Walgreens Exec Says”, about which Whitney Webb tweeted: “Just wondering if people consider the 60% of nursing home staffers and 1/3 of US troops declining the experimental COVID-19 vaccine to all be “crazy anti-vaxxer conspiracy theorists”

I apparently have to be afraid of what reading Huck Finn or the Odysseus will do to me, my brain, the brains of my children and neighbors. But I’m not afraid of that at all, I think the books will enrich their brains, as they have mine, and I’m confident they will be able to figure out what is just and right in the words they read, and what is not.

I’m not overly concerned about Covid19, but I do take a cautious approach. Which means taking vit. C&D and zinc, with ivermectin in my near future. But it doesn’t rule my life, certainly not as much as the lockdowns in Athens do. And frankly, I’m more afraid of sticking a genetic USB stick that generates untested genetic material in my body for the rest of my life, than I am of a virus that is unlikely to kill me.

By now we should be asking what being ruled by fear for a prolonged period of time does to the mindset of not just individuals, but of entire societies. Well, for one thing, it makes it much easier to censor people’s thoughts and actions, to shape their lives before they themselves do it. Be very afraid, roll up your sleeve, and don’t ask questions. And if you behave the way we tell you to, you may be able, in a year, or two, three, to return to the “old normal”.

Which unfortunately absolutely certainly will no longer exist once you get there. Your society will instead look like a warzone because its economy has been ravaged by fear. For one thing, if “they” allow stores, bars, restaurants to reopen this summer (doubtful), it may well be because they can no longer afford the emergency support for businesses and workers. The very first thing to happen then is mass lay-offs. Which will snowball into more businesses closing and more lay-offs.

It’s simply all gone on too long. For our economies, our societies and our minds. And if only to help us (re)cover, we should ask questions. It’s a obligation.

I like this from John Scott Lewinski on fear:

Panic Has Become A Twisted New Virtue
The Covid-19 pandemic has warped humanity’s mindset, turning fear into an intellectual value. Panic is now the smart choice, and those who reject it are considered dangerous barbarians. Sociologists, political theorists and other experts credit the ongoing coronavirus pandemic with forging countless changes in global society. Some are practical, some psychological. Some are temporary, while others will remain in evolving forms.

It’s difficult to deduce if the most troubling change we’re seeing really resulted from the viral crisis, or whether it had been waiting under the surface noise of daily life for full exposure by Covid-19. For the first time in human history, fear is now considered a sign of intellectual superiority, while the choice to resist panic is seen as stubborn foolishness.

[..] If you don’t stay locked in your bedroom in favor of going about your life – still masked, scrubbed and distanced – you’re a fool. Even worse, you’re a reckless fool who lacks compassion for the people you might infect. Regardless, the underlying theme is “crisis” and desperation in place of “challenge” and problem solving.
[..] Finally, if we allow a little old-time religion into the fray and check in on the Gospel writers, we’re told Jesus wept in fear the night before defeating its temptations and facing the crucifixion. Halfway around the world, the Buddha stated: “The whole secret of existence is to have no fear. Never fear what will become of you.” The current psychological zeitgeist would ridicule all of those figures or those authors and their protagonists as hasty and brainless for not running away and hiding from a threat indefinitely until it did its damage or decided to go away.
Those in the cult of alarm will say all of those references are fiction, and Covid is real life. I would motion over to Joseph Campbell and remind them that myths and their fables indicate cultural values. No one ridiculing their fellows for not wearing a mask while alone in their cars, dining outside of their own kitchens or even longing to get back to their workplaces has any part to play in any stirring touchstone story or in the real world events that inspire them.
Perhaps this new worship of trepidation is another symptom of the coronavirus that will pass. Until then, we live in hope for a vaccine against our 2020 affliction of dull, self-adulatory dread.
Fear is a healthy and useful natural reaction to events. It can save your life. But it’s not healthy for an individual to live in fear for a prolonged period of time, and fear should never take on a mass identity. Entire societies living in fear for a prolonged period of time are highly toxic to their citizens. In war time, societies are saved not by those who fear, but by the individuals who refuse to let fear lead their lives, and turn it into bravery. Because, as the Buddha says: “The whole secret of existence is to have no fear.”

The bill will now return to the House of Representatives to proceed through the process of reconciliation before the House votes again on any modifications. In essence, the 221 House Democrats will decide if they wish to imperial President Joe Biden’s first year in office.

The Senate-amended bill also includes a $300 weekly federal unemployment benefit through August 2021. The change is an adjustment to the legislation passed in the House, which sought to increase the benefits to $400 a week.

The $15 minimum wage hike will not be included in the bill. Seven Democrat senators on Friday joined all Senate Republicans in voting against Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (D-VT) proposal to increase the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour.

The bill also includes other items on the Democrat’s wish list: funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), more Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies, Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) subsidies, rent relief, paid sick leave, and paid family leave.

On Saturday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Cross Connection,” House Budget Committee Chair John Yarmuth (D-KY) stated that under the coronavirus relief bill, “there will be people who could use” the $1,400 direct payments “who will not get it, but, again, 250 million people will.”

Yarmuth said, “I think that what you have to say is we’re giving a lot of money to state and local governments. They can use that money in a variety of ways. They can set up assistance operations and plans for people in need. The fact is that you can’t use, as many people have said, a scalpel to do national legislation. You have to do — make broad decisions and come up with answers, and this is one of the things that we have to do. And there’s no right level. If you set up a system based on need, it would take probably at least six months to set it up, and then you’d have to create a huge bureaucracy to actually consider people’s personal situation. You just can’t make policy that way on the national level. So, yeah, there will be people who could use that $1,400 apiece who will not get it, but, again, 250 million people will.”

Democrats voted against his amendment to the proposed coronavirus relief package that would have stopped American taxpayers’ money from going to illegal aliens in $1,400 stimulus checks, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said Saturday.

Sen. Cruz announced the news in a Facebook post, referencing a tweet from the Senate Republican Cloakroom Staff:

In an exclusive statement to Breitbart News on Friday, Cruz said, “Not only does this COVID bill fail to address the real needs of the American people who are suffering, but it hands out billions in taxpayer dollars to illegal immigrants.”

The senator’s office told the outlet blocking the checks would save citizens nearly $8 billion.

“Congress should come together to pass my amendment to stop this,” he continued, adding, “We need to stand for the American people, get our kids back to school, and reopen our small businesses.”

In its current form, the package could allow illegal aliens to secure subsidies for COBRA healthcare premiums.

“Last month, Sens. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Todd Young (R-IN) helped pass a budget amendment — with support from eight swing state Democrats — to make it more difficult for stimulus checks for illegal aliens to be included in the relief package,” the report said.
Cruz’s social media followers expressed their disappointment at his announcement on Saturday.

“All of our benefits should have the statement ‘for American citizens only’ included or added now!” one person said.

“I am so sick of this Free-for-all WITH OUR MONEY since the new POTUS,” another commented.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden has reportedly signed off on a plan to tighten eligibility for stimulus payments, according to Breitbart News.

“The direct payments would remain at the $1,400 level, the phase-outs thresholds would remain the same, but caps would fall. As a result, more Americans would be cut off from payments,” the article concluded.

EXC: Bill Gates Foundation Funded Genomics Firm ‘Mining’ DNA Data Through COVID Tests.
BGI Genomics—the Chinese Communist Party-linked genomics firm flagged by U.S. officials as “mining” the DNA of Americans—has collaborated extensively with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The National Pulse can reveal.

The company has recently come under fire following a 60 Minutes exposé on the company’s use of COVID-19 tests to “collect, store and exploit biometric information” on American citizens, according to former U.S. intelligence officials. What’s more, a recent Reuters article linked the firm to the Chinese Communist Party’s military.

In addition to the Obama administration enabling the firm to gain a foothold in the U.S., the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation played a critical role in BGI’s American expansion.

In September of 2012, the Microsoft founder’s foundation signed a “Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to form a collaboration on global health and agricultural development with the goal of achieving common objectives in health and agricultural development.”

The co-founder of BGI praised the agreement, celebrating the forthcoming “scientific breakthroughs in the areas of human, plant and animal genomics.” He also revealed that the collaborative efforts focused on sequencing genomes—the precise activity flagged for national security threats in the 60 Minutes segment:

“Having contributed to the Human Genome Project as well as sequencing the genomes of many critical plant and animal species and human diseases, including the initial sequencing of the rice genome as well as our involvement in the Rice 10,000 Genome Project, the 1,000 Plants and Animals Genome Project, the International 1,000 genomes project, the 1,000 Rare Diseases Project, the International Cancer Genome Project, Autism Genome 10K, among others, BGI looks forward to partnering with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in this significant collaboration to apply genomics research to benefit global human health.”

Image
GATES & BGI CO-FOUNDER WANG JUN AT THE 2015 BOAO FORUM.

The memorandum predates Gates’s 2010 visit to BGI’s China-based headquarters, where he witnessed the company’s genetic sequencing operation as described by the Financial Times:
In 2010, Bill Gates visited an unremarkable building in an industrial estate on the outskirts of Shenzhen, China. With row after row of high-tech machinery humming inside, the place could easily be mistaken for an anonymous data warehouse. But Mr Gates and Ray Yip, head of the Gates Foundation’s China operation, saw something else that day. As they toured the BGI headquarters, the two men were stunned by the ambition of the scientists working at the biotech company. Inside, more than 150 state of the art genetic sequencing machines were analysing the equivalent of thousands of human genomes a day. The company is working towards a goal of building a huge library based on the DNA of many millions of people. BGI executives see this not as the end-game, but as the springboard for new drug discoveries, advanced genetic research and a transformation of public health policy.

Yip praised the endeavor as “out-of-the-box,” “open,” and “liberal”:

“We were taken aback. We never thought we would find such an out-of-the-box approach. They are in their own league — open and liberal. Most people only see them as a service provider for DNA analysis. It is the database they are building that will make them formidable.”

The Gates Foundation has also funded BGI projects relating to genome sequencing alongside Chinese Communist Party bodies such as the Ministry of Science and Technology and Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

Similarly, Dr. Tadataka Yamada, the former president of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s global health program, serves as the Chairman of BGI’s Scientific Advisory Board.

GATES AND BGI RESEARCHERS.
GATES AND BGI RESEARCHERS.
And in 2016, BGI launched a U.S.-based office in Washington—the home state of Microsoft and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

BGI’s ties to Washington also appear to have influenced the firm’s decision to target the state with its COVID-19 test kits, part of the company’s plot to “mine” the data of Americans.

“Early last March, the state of Washington was the site of the first major coronavirus outbreak in the U.S. As COVID rates and the need for tests were spiking, BGI Group, the world’s largest biotech firm—a global giant based in China—approached the state of Washington with an enticing offer. In a strikingly personal letter to the governor, BGI proposed to build and help run state-of-the-art COVID testing labs,” 60 Minutes summarized.

But officials ultimately turned down the offer at the request of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence over BGI’s ties to the Chinese government.

Democrats Just Snuck a $1 Billion Tax Hike on Workers Into Their COVID Bill

A tax expert warned that IRS penalties ‘can destroy a person’s life’ and said many gig economy workers won’t be able to afford this sudden tax hike.

When the economy is struggling to recover from a pandemic and crushing government lockdowns, that’s probably the worst time to impose $1 billion in new annual taxes on the working class. But that’s exactly what a new provision quietly slipped into the Democrats’ sweeping $1.9 trillion COVID legislation would do.

“A last-minute insert by Democrats looking to offset the cost of their coronavirus aid package would send tax collectors into the gig economy, eventually costing Uber and DoorDash drivers, Airbnb hosts and others about $1 billion annually,” Roll Call reports.

Under current tax law, earnings data for gig economy workers only needs to be reported to the IRS once it reaches $20,000. This means that small earners pursuing gig work to supplement their income aren’t hit by crushing federal taxes. However, the Democrats’ provision would nearly eliminate this benchmark, and instead require all income above $600 to be reported to the IRS.

“The stiffer tax burden would be imposed while 10 million Americans are unemployed and more and more have turned to freelance and gig economy work to make ends meet,” Roll Call notes.

Indeed it would, and this would be disastrous for both workers and the economy.

This tax hike “adds a significant burden to gig economy and small business workers at the worst possible time,” according to TechNet spokesman Steve Kidera. One tax expert warned Roll Call that many struggling gig economy workers won’t be able to pay the higher taxes, and that IRS penalties “can destroy a person’s life.”

It’s mind boggling to think that after a year of depriving workers of their incomes and strangling the economy with government lockdowns, politicians would really shoulder billions more in taxes onto working Americans’ backs. It’s even more aggravating when one realizes that this is being done to pay for a $1.9 trillion “COVID” package where at least 15 percent of the money goes to partisan spending priorities like Obamacare expansion and only 1 percent goes to COVID vaccine distribution.

If politicians really wanted to reduce the package’s price tag, they could instead start by eliminating the legislation’s countless examples of cronyism and waste. For example, Democrats could cut out the $1 billion their bill allocates for “racial justice” for farmers, the $1.5 million it spends on a bridge in New York that Chuck Schumer wants built, or the $112 million it earmarks for transit projects in California.

Instead, in a move sadly typically for Congress, our elected officials are choosing to pile $1 billion in new annual taxes on the working class rather than eliminate waste and pet projects. This kind of political malpractice and fiscal irresponsibility will continue in Washington, DC until voters finally say enough is enough.

Why You Should Not Use Ivermectin to Treat or Prevent COVID-19

Combined image of a veterinarian inspecting a horse, and a doctor inspecting a patient.

COVID-19. We’ve been living with it for what sometimes seems like forever. Given the number of deaths that have occurred from the disease, it’s perhaps not surprising that some consumers are looking at unconventional treatments, not approved or authorized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Though this is understandable, please beware. The FDA’s job is to carefully evaluate the scientific data on a drug to be sure that it is both safe and effective for a particular use, and then to decide whether or not to approve it. Using any treatment for COVID-19 that’s not approved or authorized by the FDA, unless part of a clinical trial, can cause serious harm.

There seems to be a growing interest in a drug called ivermectin to treat humans with COVID-19. Ivermectin is often used in the U.S. to treat or prevent parasites in animals. The FDA has received multiple reports of patients who have required medical support and been hospitalized after self-medicating with ivermectin intended for horses.

Here’s What You Need to Know about Ivermectin
  • FDA has not approved ivermectin for use in treating or preventing COVID-19 in humans. Ivermectin tablets are approved at very specific doses for some parasitic worms, and there are topical (on the skin) formulations for head lice and skin conditions like rosacea. Ivermectin is not an anti-viral (a drug for treating viruses).
  • Taking large doses of this drug is dangerous and can cause serious harm.
  • If you have a prescription for ivermectin for an FDA-approved use, get it from a legitimate source and take it exactly as prescribed.
  • Never use medications intended for animals on yourself. Ivermectin preparations for animals are very different from those approved for humans.
What is Ivermectin and How is it Used?
Ivermectin tablets are approved by the FDA to treat people with intestinal strongyloidiasis and onchocerciasis, two conditions caused by parasitic worms. In addition, some topical (on the skin) forms of ivermectin are approved to treat external parasites like head lice and for skin conditions such as rosacea.

Some forms of ivermectin are used in animals to prevent heartworm disease and certain internal and external parasites. It’s important to note that these products are different from the ones for people, and safe when used as prescribed for animals, only.

When Can Taking Ivermectin Be Unsafe?
The FDA has not reviewed data to support use of ivermectin in COVID-19 patients to treat or to prevent COVID-19; however, some initial research is underway. Taking a drug for an unapproved use can be very dangerous. This is true of ivermectin, too.

There’s a lot of misinformation around, and you may have heard that it’s okay to take large doses of ivermectin. That is wrong.

Even the levels of ivermectin for approved uses can interact with other medications, like blood-thinners. You can also overdose on ivermectin, which can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hypotension (low blood pressure), allergic reactions (itching and hives), dizziness, ataxia (problems with balance), seizures, coma and even death.

Ivermectin Products for Animals Are Different from Ivermectin Products for People
For one thing, animal drugs are often highly concentrated because they are used for large animals like horses and cows, which can weigh a lot more than we do—a ton or more. Such high doses can be highly toxic in humans.

Moreover, FDA reviews drugs not just for safety and effectiveness of the active ingredients, but also for the inactive ingredients. Many inactive ingredients found in animal products aren’t evaluated for use in people. Or they are included in much greater quantity than those used in people. In some cases, we don’t know how those inactive ingredients will affect how ivermectin is absorbed in the human body.

Meanwhile, effective ways to limit the spread of COVID-19 continue to be to wear your mask, stay at least 6 feet from others who don’t live with you, wash hands frequently, and avoid crowds.

TammyinWI

Talk is cheap
The NIH repurposed Ivermectin in January to be used against COVID, and the WHO is looking at it now, promising to release the findings of their review in about a month or less.

If the FDA and the WHO would get on the stick, and do the right thing (to do no harm), they need to report the CORRECT findings, like yesterday!

It will be a severe crime against humanity if they discredit Ivermectin against COVID in any way, shape, or form, and fail to promote it heavily. This promotion of it should have been done months ago. The data is in, the excellent results of this safe, inexpensive drug, against COVID are known in many circles, but not even near enough doctors and med. professionals know, much less the gen pop.

CDC Claims Mask Mandates Don’t Have Statistically Improved Impact on Spread of COVID Than No Masks At All – Will Therefore Continue Pushing Masks

The CDC recommends wearing masks after their study showed that related to COVID, the results of wearing masks were statistically the same as the results when not wearing masks.

The results of a CDC study at first appear to show that wearing masks help reduce the spread of COVID:

The results were inside the statistical margin of error:

The results from before wearing masks were not statistically different than the period wearing masks – thus the CDC will continue recommending Americans wear masks???

Amid vaccine rollout, some Catholics struggle with shots' connections to abortion

Medical use of aborted fetal cell lines raises religious and ethical questions.

As the COVID-19 vaccine rollout continues, some Catholics are struggling with a decades-old bioethical quandary: whether or not to use medicine that has been developed in connection with aborted fetal tissue.

The complex issue has been extensively litigated by the Catholic Church's leadership, but it remains unresolved for individual Catholics, each of whom is enjoined to make up his or her own mind on whether or not they will participate in a medical procedure that is directly, if distantly, connected to abortion.

At issue is the fact that biomedical companies, in the process of developing vaccines, often utilize cell lines ultimately descended from cells taken from fetal tissue. Those cells can be used in a variety of different ways during vaccine development.

In the case of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, scientists used a cell line known as HEK293, which derives from a fetus aborted in the Netherlands in 1973. The recently approved Johnson & Johnson vaccine, meanwhile, uses PerC6 cells derived from the eyeballs of an 18-week-old fetus aborted in 1985, also in the Netherlands.

The three vaccines do not use the cell lines in equal ways. Pfizer and Moderna use the HEK293 cells to test their vaccines, but none of those cells make their way into the vaccine itself.

Johnson & Johnson, on the other hand, actually incorporates the PerC6 cells into their injection.

Vatican gives conditional approval
Though abortion is unequivocally condemned and prohibited by the Catholic Church, the Vatican has given its consent, albeit a conditional one, to the use of COVID-19 vaccines derived from cell lines descended from fetal tissue.

In December, the Holy See said that, in cases where there are no other options, "it is morally acceptable to receive Covid-19 vaccines that have used cell lines from aborted fetuses in their research and production process."

"It should be emphasized," the directive continued, "... that the morally licit use of these types of vaccines, in the particular conditions that make it so, does not in itself constitute a legitimation, even indirect, of the practice of abortion, and necessarily assumes the opposition to this practice by those who make use of these vaccines."

That statement notwithstanding, at least one Catholic diocese in the U.S. — the Archdiocese of New Orleans — has urged its parishioners to refrain from taking the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, claiming in a late February statement that that injection "is morally compromised as it uses the abortion-derived cell line in development and production of the vaccine as well as the testing."

"[W]e advise that if the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine is available, Catholics should choose to receive either of those vaccines" rather than the Johnson & Johnson variant, the archdiocese said.

The New Orleans archdiocese said that the issue is ultimately "one of individual conscience," something echoed by Joseph Meaney, the president of the National Catholic Bioethics Center.

"There's not an absolute prohibition" for Catholics one way or the other, Meaney told Just the News. "Instead, you have a conscientious discernment."

"The most important thing is: How much do I need to take a vaccine right now?" he continued. "Am I particularly fragile? Am I living with people that are high-risk? Am I a frontline healthcare worker? There are all these kinds of considerations" that Catholics might consider when determining whether to take vaccines that have utilized the fetal cell lines.

Dee Christie, a professor at John Carroll University and the former executive director of the Catholic Theological Society of America, agreed that Catholics can and do come down on many sides of the issue.

"There is no 'monolith' Catholic theological position," Christie said. "The official Catholic teaching is that purposed destruction of human fetal life is always wrong, but this question is broader than that."

"Certainly, those on the more liberal end could make an argument as to the separation of the act of abortion and using tissue obtained from aborted fetuses but not aborted so that they could be used in research," she went on. "Others might say, 'Never.'"

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, meanwhile, echoed the sentiment of the Vatican in a December statement, essentially condoning the use of both types of vaccines, arguing that if "one does not really have a choice of vaccine," it is acceptable to take one produced with aborted fetal cell lines.

"[W]e should be on guard," the bishops added, "so that the new COVID-19 vaccines do not desensitize us or weaken our determination to oppose the evil of abortion itself and the subsequent use of fetal cells in research."

‘Mask Burning Parties’ are Triggering the Left — And It Is a Glorious Sight to Behold

Normal Americans are over the masks. They are over the lockdowns. They are over the media hysteria.

Who is not “over” all of that is the radical left, which desperately wants Americans to remain paralyzed with fear and completely under the ‘lock down’ control of the Democratic Party.

A New York Times reporter has brought attention to a ‘mask burning party” on the Idaho Capitol steps.

View: https://twitter.com/i/status/1368261041696632832
.39 min

The reaction of the left to these videos is either downright ghoulish or steeped in derision.

“Darwinsm in action,” one user tweeted. “A lot of these people are the same people who who will refuse the vaccine. Their population/communities will be culled over time due to this rejection of science. I don’t say this with malice. It’s just a fact. I feel for the innocent children.”

“This is some sick stuff right here,” another said. “Guess what else has gone down since people have been wearing masks? Flu, colds, respiratory infections. I hope one day these kids will be embarrassed by this and completely own their parents for their ignorance.”

“What the hell does the rest of the world think when they see things like this?” another added. “We look like a bunch of ignorant hicks jfc.”

“When the next virus comes, and make no mistake, there WILL be another one, and it has a higher mortality than Covid, these people will make certain that as many people as possible die from it,” another commented. “Even if the bodies start to rot in the streets. They will not give a single f***.”

“These parents should be arrested,” David Badash of the New Civil Rights Movement added. “The scope of what they are teaching their children includes being anti-science, being selfish, not caring about human life, it’s ok to break the law, and your ‘freedom’ takes priority over other people’s right to live.”

Conservatives, however, welcomed the sight of people taking off their masks and throwing them on the ash heap of history:

Let’s also briefly talk about the “science,” a subject that radical leftists are grossly uninterested in, much less than their vapid moral preening.

The science is not “settled” that masks even work to prevent the spread among the general public. There is no strong evidence that such masks or lockdowns even slow the spread, in terms of cross-national or state-level data.

The viral pandemic exploded in America’s blue states, regardless of mask mandates, while red states that did not have mask mandates compare very favorably. The top four states in deaths per capita were blue states with strong lockdown policies and mask mandates.

Now, we are seeing a massive drop off in infection rates, mortality and hospitalizations, after peaking just after Biden’s election certification.

The left can freak out all it wants that it is losing control over people’s daily lives as the coronavirus pandemic recedes. If you want to show that you are truly free, organize a mask burning party in your own community and upload the video to Twitter.

On Day 42, Deplorables Became Neanderthals.
In Biden’s America, putting coronavirus-positive immigrants on bus trips across America is perfectly fine, but taking off your mask is “Neanderthal thinking.”

White House Cuts Live Feed Before Questions.

The White House promptly cut a live feed yesterday after President Joe Biden announced that he’d be happy to take questions from Democratic lawmakers.

Biden Calls Mask Skepticism “Neanderthal Thinking.”

Only a “Neanderthal” would question the efficacy of mask-wearing at this point, according to Biden. (This, on the one year anniversary of the weekend Anthony Fauci told the world that mask wearing wasn’t necessary, by the way).

Following announcements that Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott would take actions to reopen their states, including rescinding former mask mandates and restrictions on business occupancy, Biden called it a “big mistake.”

“The last thing we need is Neanderthal thinking that, in the meantime, everything’s fine, take off your mask, forget it,” Biden said.

Abbott responded to the charge on Thursday morning:

“The Biden administration has been releasing immigrants in South Texas that have been exposing Texans to Covid. Some of those people have been put on busses, taking that Covid to other states in the United States,” Abbott told CNBC. “That is Neanderthal-type approach to dealing with the Covid situation.”

Abbott added that the changes being made in Texas are not a dramatic step, as Texas’ mask “mandates” have not been enforced, only recommended.

Biden Releases Interim National Security Strategic Guidance.

Biden on Wednesday released his Interim National Security Strategic Guidance document outlining his priorities for national security policy—”how the United States can seize what we view as a once-in-a-generation opportunity to renew America’s advantages at home and abroad,” press secretary Jen Psaki said.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken also delivered supporting remarks entitled “A Foreign Policy for the American People.”
  • “For some time now Americans have been asking tough but fair questions about what we’re doing, how we’re leading—indeed, whether we should be leading at all.”
  • “Some principles are enduring. One is that American leadership and engagement matter… Another enduring principle is that we need countries to cooperate, now more than ever.”
  • “First, we will stop COVID-19 and strengthen global health security.”
  • “Second, we will turn around the economic crisis and build a more stable, inclusive global economy.”
  • “Third, we will renew democracy, because it’s under threat… But the erosion of democracy is not only happening in other places. It’s also happening here in the United States. Disinformation is rampant here. Structural racism and inequality make life worse for millions.”
  • “We will not promote democracy through costly military interventions or by attempting to overthrow authoritarian regimes by force.”
  • “Fourth, we will work to create a humane and effective immigration system.”
  • “Fifth, we will revitalize our ties with our allies and partners.”
  • “Sixth, we will tackle the climate crisis and drive a green energy revolution.”
  • “Seventh, we will secure our leadership in technology.”
  • “And eighth, we will manage the biggest geopolitical test of the 21st century: our relationship with China… Our relationship with China will be competitive when it should be, collaborative when it can be, and adversarial when it must be.”
On the use of military force, Biden’s strategy notes:

The United States will never hesitate to use force when required to defend our vital national interests… Military force should only be used when the objectives and mission are clear and achievable, when force is matched with appropriate resources and as part of an integrated strategy, when it is consistent with our values and laws, and with the informed consent of the American people.

Watch: 'Ethics' Prof. Says Americans Will Take Vaccine In Exchange For Return Of Freedom

MONDAY, MAR 08, 2021 - 14:49
Authored by Steve Watson via Summit News,

CNN provided a platform for NYU medical ‘ethics’ professor Arthur Caplan Sunday, who argued that Americans skeptical of taking the COVID vaccine will soon come around and accept it if their freedoms otherwise remain restricted.

Caplan argued that allowing people to have their freedoms returned after lockdown is the most “powerful incentive” to push the vaccine.
“If you promise people more mobility, more ability to get a job, more ability to get travel, that’s a very powerful incentive to actually achieve fuller vaccination,” Caplan told Fareed Zakaria.
The segment even began with the infamous ‘show me your papers’ scene from the movie Casablanca:

Caplan argued that Americans will “gain freedom” if a COVID certification system is enacted.

View: https://youtu.be/tPYMgwN-oII
6:45 min

Caplan continued “Vaccine passports do require access; it’s hard to impose anything unless you are pretty sure that somebody can get a vaccine. So I think it’ll be a little while before we see this, let’s say within the U.S.”
“But there are going to be communities and areas of the country where it starts to make sense due to high availability of the vaccine to say, ‘you wanna come back to work in person? Gotta show me a vaccine certificate. You wanna go in a bar, a restaurant? Gotta show me a vaccine certificate,’” he added.
When asked about the dangers of a two tier society, and who can get access to the vaccine, Caplan stated “I think there will be some inequality in the U.S., but hopefully it’ll wash out quickly as the supplies increase very rapidly, I think they’re going to.”

Caplan predicted that “the world won’t wait for vaccine passports” until all countries are ready, and that they will be put into place regardless of whether poorer or less equipped countries can be a part of the system.

As we reported last week, New York City has unveiled a vaccine passport system in conjunction with IBM, trialling it at two sports events so far.

Covid passport systems, which we have been covering for months now, are being rapidly adopted worldwide both domestically and for international travel, despite the fact that the immunity status of vaccinations is not yet extensively known, and despite warnings that such schemes could lead to mass discrimination against those who choose not to take the shot.
