Children and COVID-19 with Daniel Griffin (Long COVID, Vaccines, School Safety)

•Mar 19, 2021

MedCram - Medical Lectures Explained CLEARLY

Daniel Griffin, MD, PhD answers questions about a variety of misconceptions about children and COVID-19: How common are chronic “long COVID” symptoms in children? Are children less likely than adults to get and spread COVID 19? When are coronavirus vaccines for children going to be authorized? Do kids need to wear masks outside? Tips for parents to navigate school, sports, and summer camp during the pandemic? Should children get a cardiac evaluation before returning to sports if they’ve had COVID-19? What is multi inflammatory syndrome? Why do kids typically get less severe COVID-19 disease and what can we learn from their immune systems?

Dr. Daniel Griffin is an instructor in Clinical Medicine and an associate research scientist in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at Columbia University. Dr. Griffin is board-certified in Infectious Disease, Co-Host of This Week in Virology, and Co-Founder of Parasites Without Borders. Full Bio: https://asm.org/Biographies/Daniel-Gr... Latest Covid-19 Variant Discovered In France Isn’t Detected By Standard PCR Tests
Joshua Cohen Contributor

A new variant of the novel coronavirus has been identified in the French region of Brittany. On Monday evening, the French Ministry of Health put out a statement that said the mutation was found by way of genomic sequencing in a cluster of infections in a hospital in the town of Lannion. Eight of 79 Covid-19 patients turned out to be carriers of the new variant, nicknamed “le variant breton.” Initially they tested negative with gold-standard PCR tests, despite presenting with typical symptoms of Covid-19. But later, coronavirus infection was confirmed with analysis of blood samples and tissue in the respiratory system. All 8 patients have since died.

Preliminary research results do not indicate the new mutation causes more severe disease or is more contagious than other known variants. However, more research will be needed to establish this with certainty. Clinical investigators are also attempting to determine the variant’s response to vaccination and antibodies from prior coronavirus infection.

What’s remarkable about this particular mutation is that the novel coronavirus may have already evolved in such a way as to bypass detection by conventional PCR tests. Last month, Finnish researchers also discovered a new variant that is undetected by at least one standard PCR test, though evidently not all conventional PCR tests, as appears to be the case with the new variant found in France. As a result, the World Health Organization has assigned the latest variant to the category “variants under investigation.”

The announcement came as France and most of the rest of Europe battle a resurgence in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations, driven in part by the B.1.1.7 variant which has become dominant throughout the continent.

New variants are not a surprise. Variants are popping up everywhere and will continue to do so. The novel coronavirus must evolve to survive. In fact, viruses constantly mutate. Some mutations are relatively benign, while others are more worrisome. Each time a new variant emerges researchers must investigate the extent to which it is more more deadly or contagious than other known mutations, and the degree to which it reduces vaccine efficacy. Furthermore, as is the case with the new variant found in France, clinical investigators must assess ways to adapt PCR testing protocols to possibly enable detection.

At present, the biggest concern with variants that escape detection is that they may fuel spread of the disease. And this, in turn, can spawn new, more potent variants. Indeed, the driving force behind the emergence of variants of concern, such as the B.1.1.7, B.1.351, and P.1, is the massive number of infections globally. Uncontrolled spread of infection allows more and more mutations to develop, which increases the likelihood that new virus variants will emerge that can evade detection by conventional PCR testing, and worse, elude vaccines.

Currently, the three major variants that public health experts worry about most are the B.1.1.7, B.1.351, and P.1 variants. Regarding transmissibility and lethality it appears B.1.1.7 is more than 50% transmissible and at least 30% more lethal than earlier variants, with several reports suggesting it is 64% more deadly. The other two major variants are considered more contagious, though estimates vary widely on the magnitude of increased transmissibility. Further, question marks remain with respect to the lethality of the other major two variants, in comparison to previous variants.

What’s on everyone’s mind is how effective the vaccines are in preventing severe disease in those who contract one of the variants of concern. It appears that the vaccines granted emergency use authorization as well as those in clinical development lose only a small amount of efficacy against the B.1.1.7 variant. Less is known, however, about how effective vaccines are against the other two major variants. Findings suggest that the vaccines are significantly less effective against the B.1.351. AstraZeneca’s vaccine recently flopped in a clinical trial, only providing 10% efficacy. Also of note is that there is evidence to suggest that the P.1 variant is less vulnerable to antibodies generated by a previous Covid-19 infection, which could allow for a much greater possibility of reinfections.

Mutations that allow the virus to circumvent our immune response (whether naturally acquired or vaccine-mediated), replicate more quickly. As such, a higher viral load is generally associated with more severe illness and a greater chance of death.

And so the hunt for new variants is critical, which is why health authorities worldwide have increased genomic surveillance amid worry about variants that can avoid detection, spread more readily, cause more severe disease, or thwart vaccines.

Rand Paul: Fauci ‘Very Blasé and Unconcerned About Liberty’ — ‘Burden Should Be on the Gov’t’ to Prove Need to Dictate Behavior

JEFF POOR20 Mar 2021346

Friday on FNC’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) recounted his encounter with White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci during a Senate hearing earlier in the week.

The Kentucky Republican asked Fauci to justify double-masking and quantify the threat of a new variant of COVID-19 that backs up these concerns.

Paul insisted Fauci had been unable to, which he concluded should be a responsibility of government when it imposes restrictions on its population.

“There was no scientific evidence presented. There was Dr. Fauci’s opinion, his conjecture, that someday there might be a variant that escapes the control of the vaccine and becomes a pandemic and hospitalizes and kills people, but there’s no evidence that it has happened. He thinks it might happen, so you need to wear the mask until he is sure that things that might happen are not going to happen. But see, the thing is Dr. Fauci is very blasé and unconcerned about liberty, but I think the burden should be on the government to prove it. If they want to dictate mine and your behavior, the burden is on them to present the evidence.”

“So I said, is there evidence that some new variant, some new strain of COVID is now hospitalizing and killing hundreds or even thousands of people in the United States?” Paul continued. “And the evidence is zero. So I think the government when they tell you something like you should be six feet apart, or three feet apart — if they’re going to mandate this behavior that you can’t have anybody in the booth next to you in the restaurant when they mandate these behaviors, it’s incumbent upon them, the burden should be they have to show us the proof. There is no proof that when you’ve been vaccinated, or when you’ve gotten the disease naturally, that you are spreading it. If there were, it would be all over the news. There are no news reports and no scientific studies saying that after vaccination, that there’s some sort of widespread contagion that people vaccinated are spreading the disease. It’s just not true.”

“What Fauci won’t tell you is that he is telling you a noble lie,” he added. “He’s lying to you because he doesn’t think we’re smart enough to make decisions. His fear is that if the vaccinated quit wearing the mask, the unvaccinated will say, ‘What the hell, I’m not wearing a mask either.’ So he lies to you to say, oh, the mask makes a difference. When in reality, he knows better. He is wearing two masks for theater. It is complete theater. He is immune. He knows he’s not going to get it, but he is not being honest with the American public.”

Paul offered details about his own experience at the gym with a woman upset he did not have a mask on while using the treadmill.

“One thing about freedom is, freedom doesn’t have to be practical or have a study to say why you should have to have freedom,” he said. “They need to study and scientific proof to show us why we shouldn’t have freedom. I shouldn’t have to prove that I want to be free and I want to be left alone in order to breathe the air. I was on the treadmill the other day, and some Karen goes and tells the people he is on a treadmill. He is running without a mask. I mean, for goodness sakes, is this the world we’re going to live in where everybody is reporting everyone, and the Gestapo is going to come because – – and arrest you like this poor woman?”

“I mean, my goodness, they need to present the proof,” Paul added. “The burden should be on the government, show us that someone that’s been vaccinated or that significant numbers of those who are vaccinated are getting it again — being hospitalized and dying or spreading it, instead of the conjecture of Anthony Fauci who says, someday you might. So my response to him was, well, someday the Spanish flu might come back. So maybe we should always wear a mask because this isn’t as bad as the Spanish flu. It’s a lot less deadly. But someday, the Spanish flu is going to come back. So why should we not just wear masks all the time until we die?”

COVID Infection Rate at Migrant Minors Shelter Nearly Doubles Texas Average
MATAMOROS, MEXICO - DECEMBER 08: Immigrant children watch as the last bags of toys are distributed to other children following class at The Sidewalk School held at a Remain in Mexico camp for asylum seekers on December 08, 2019 in the Mexican border town of Matamoros, Mexico. Federal officials announced it is no longer moving unaccompanied migrant children to the oilfield mancamp in Midland, Texas, after nearly 11 percent tested positive for COVID-19. The statewide average in Texas is less than 6.5 percent.

U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) spokesman Mark Weber told the Associated Press they put their plans to move more unaccompanied migrant teenagers to the Midland facility on pause. The pause followed the finding that 53 of the 485 migrant teens tested positive for COVID-19 after being secretly moved by buses to Midland under the cover of darkness.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott confirmed a COVID outbreak in one of the HHS facilities in Texas.

“The conditions unaccompanied minors face in these federally run facilities is unacceptable and inhumane. From a lack of safe drinking water in one location to a COVID-19 outbreak in another, the Biden Administration has no excuse for subjecting these children to these kinds of conditions,” Governor Abbott said in a statement provided to Breitbart Texas. “President Biden’s refusal to address the border crisis is not only enabling criminal actors like human traffickers and smugglers, but it is exposing innocent unaccompanied children to illness and potentially unsafe living conditions. The administration must act now to keep these children safe, secure our border, and end this humanitarian crisis.”

Abbott also tweeted that the Lone Star State has experienced a lower-than 6.5 percent infection rate during the past week.

1616274049587.png

Former HHS Chief of Staff Brian Harrison told Breitbart Texas that the humanitarian crisis on the southern border is completely of President Joe Biden’s making during an interview on Friday. Harrison served HHS during the Trump administration and is currently a candidate for the Texas 6th Congressional District.

“We actually had COVID protocols in place, you know, in these UAC shelters, they have undone the COVID protocols,” Harrison told Breitbart. “You know, the same people who say schools can’t be open, the economy can’t be open lockdowns forever, are undoing the COVID protocols in the shelters for the illegal alien children.”

In February, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced the administration ended the COVID capacity restrictions in facilities housing migrant unaccompanied minors to ease overcrowding.

“We had to expand and open additional facilities because there was not enough space in the existing facilities if we were to abide by COVID protocols,” Psaki said during a late February press briefing.

Harrison says the capacity issue came about as a direct result of Biden eliminating successful programs put in place during the Trump administration.

“We didn’t have a capacity problem. When Joe Biden took office, we had a lot of excess capacity,” Harrison explained. “The reason there’s a capacity problem doesn’t have anything to do with shelters, or the number of buildings. The reason there’s a capacity problem is because Joe Biden has supercharged the magnet incentivizing record numbers of illegal immigrants across our borders illegally. That’s why there’s a capacity problem.”

After sneaking the migrant teens into the Midland mancamp facility, HHS officials working with FEMA opened an additional shelter at the Dallas Convention Center, Breitbart Texas reported. That facility is designed to hold up to 3,000 teens in what the agency is calling a “decompression shelter.”

Breitbart asked Harrison what a “decompression shelter” was.

“Who knows? Never heard that,” Harrison responded. “I was the chief of staff of the agency that oversaw these things. I’ve never heard that term in my life. I have no idea.”

“I think it’s just, I think it’s just the, you know, the democrats in the media colluding to change the name.” he explained. “So the American people won’t know the full extent of the devastation and the crisis that they’re creating on the border.”

U.S. Border Patrol continues to hold massive numbers of unaccompanied minors in facilities designed to hold adults who illegally cross the border — many for up to five days in violation of the 72-hour legal requirement.

“As roughly 4,500 children wait in Border Patrol facilities unequipped for long-term detention, with some sleeping on floors, HHS has rushed to open holding sites across the country and tried to expedite its processes for releasing children in custody,” the AP reported. “About 9,500 minors are in HHS custody.”

One has to wonder, if this new "le variant Breton" is not picked up by the gold standard PCR test, just how prevalent it is in the general population already, and if it's really not an issue. No doubt, it will be used by tyrannical governments as a reason to further eviscerate our liberties.

US officials hiding data as other nations reveal the lockdowns are more deadly than Covid-19

This show may get us canceled on Big Tech. Why? Because we had the gall today to mention the facts about Covid-19 deaths that other nations are willing to acknowledge but our government will not. Clinical depression, drug overdoses, and suicides are all up, but you won't find that data available in the U.S.

US officials hiding data as other nations reveal the lockdowns are more deadly than Covid-19

The land of the free and the home of the brave has become the land of misleading media reports and authoritarian policies ever since COVID-19 fearmongering became the driving force behind everything. Some would argue it has always been this way as incremental propaganda and creeping Marxism inched us towards the place we are today.

What makes it worse is seeing other nations that are supposedly less free coming out with information the people need to hear. This is information that doesn’t seem to make it to American ears except for those who are looking at alternative news sources because mainstream media refuses to report on it. Case-in-point: Canadian scientists who are now questioning the efficacy of lockdowns when comparing the fatality numbers of the side effects.

Forcing people to stay at home rather than allowing them to live normal lives is responsible for all the “excess deaths” in Canada that the medical and political establishments are blaming on the Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19).
This is according to a leading Canadian national statistics agency, which released a report indicating that the government’s response to the Chinese virus – not the virus itself – is what is killing more people this year compared to previous years.
Describing these deaths as “indirect consequences of the pandemic,” Stats Canada revealed that “delayed medical procedures” and “increased substance use” due to the lockdowns are both responsible for the death spike being seen all across the country.

“In the early months of the pandemic, the weekly number of excess deaths and deaths caused by COVID-19 were closely aligned and mostly affected older populations, suggesting that COVID-19 itself was driving excess mortality in Canada,” the group says.

“However, more recently, the number of excess deaths has been higher than the number of deaths due to COVID-19, and these deaths are affecting younger populations, suggesting that other factors, including possible indirect impacts of the pandemic, are now at play.”

Stats Canada estimates that in 2020, there were an estimated 296,373 deaths in Canada. This number is 13,798 deaths above and beyond what “experts” would have expected had there not been an alleged “pandemic.”

“This is about 5% more deaths than expected in that period,” the report explains.

At the same time, there was a spike all last year in overdose deaths, for instance. Drug users who otherwise would have been involved in substance abuse treatment programs were no longer able to attend their meetings, resulting in unabated drug use that killed many of them.
This isn’t just a recent development. Last year in Australia, hundreds of doctors called on the government to lift lockdowns by citing the side-effects as being too great to justify the questionable efficacy of locking down the nation.
Doctor Eamonn Mathieson was one of 500 doctors who signed the letter, and he told Sunrise this morning he believed the lockdown had caused “a massive collateral damage in health and mental health”.

“There (is) a growing number of doctors who are gravely concerned about the impact of this lockdowns and we are calling for them to cease.
“We believe that they are disproportionate and unscientific. We have the evidence to back this up and we will be presenting at on our new website and calling for more doctors to join us.”
In the United States, the best source of information regarding spikes in drug overdoses isn’t the CDC or any other federal agencies. We have to turn to compilations of reports from ambulance services to get a glimpse at what’s happening. Last year, even in the early months of the lockdown we saw double-digit percentage increases. This is one of the clearest indicators of the detrimental effects associated with a locked down society.

Another of the best indicators is, unfortunately, also being obscured. It’s telling that CDC data on suicides have not been updated since 2019. Traditionally the reports are put out within a month or two of year’s end. The reason is because the data is not hard to collect. All of it is systematically input into common databases by states and accessible to the CDC. It’s a matter of taking the data and making graphs, then publishing them on their website. A junior IT person could do it in hours. Yet their website as well as others have conspicuously remained stagnant with no updates since early 2019.

The reason why is obvious. As highlighted by FEE:

Billions of people across the globe continue to live under COVID-19 lockdowns or heavily-restricted life. And for almost all of us, life amid the pandemic in 2020 was an isolating and difficult year. Yet doctors are warning that children in particular are experiencing grave mental health consequences as a result of the lockdowns—leading to an “international epidemic” of child suicide.

The Associated Press interviewed Dr. David Greenhorn on the subject, who works in the emergency department at England’s Bradford Royal Infirmary. The number of mental health crises he has seen, such as suicide attempts, has gone from a couple per week pre-pandemic to now several per day.

“This is an international epidemic, and we are not recognizing it,” Greenhorn said. “In an 8-year-old’s life, a year is a really, really, really long time. They are fed up. They can’t see an end to it.”

Dr. Richard Delorme heads the psychiatric department at one of the largest children’s hospitals in France, and he offered a similar warning to the AP.
Delorme pointed out that it is clearly COVID restrictions and lockdowns taking this toll on children that end up in his hospital: “What they tell you about is a chaotic world, of ‘Yes, I’m not doing my activities any more,’ ‘I’m no longer doing my music,’ ‘Going to school is hard in the mornings,’ ‘I am having difficulty waking up,’ ‘I am fed up with the mask.’”
Analyses and recommendations regarding the dangers of lockdowns are flowing from many nations, including Brazil, Sweden, Canada, South Korea, Australia, and Israel. Even in nations where the lockdowns are not being generally questioned, there are discussions between scientists that are allowed to make the news to keep their people informed.

That’s not the case in the United States. In fact, there’s a concerted effort to prevent all forms of debates about what the science is actually saying. Big Tech is censoring it. Mainstream media is ignoring it. Even academia, the self-proclaimed arbiters-of-knowledge, are actively working to suppress all dissention against the prescribed draconian narrative.
This is not a matter of differing opinions. This is a conspiracy with members of the U.S. government as ringleaders. And it’s not new; even when President Trump was in the Oval Office there were members of his administration and leaders in multiple departments who were working against his anti-lockdown stance. They latched onto his original “15 Days to Slow the Spread” and expanded it into the perpetual hell many of us are experiencing today. They continue to cover up the truth and prevent any information about lockdown side effects from seeing the light of day.

The reasons are more complicated than just “saving face.” We can argue that government employees would be fired, possibly even charged with crimes, if they revealed just how bad the side-effects of lockdowns really are. They know the truth and refuse to reveal it, but it’s not just for the sake of job security. Many in the Trump administration and the vast majority in the Biden administration are all-in for “The Great Reset,” and the pandemic is the perfect vehicle through which to advance that agenda.

I talked about this and other topics on the latest episode of NOQ Report.
Americans should be made aware of the death toll associated with lockdowns through destitution, clinical depression, drug overdoses, suicides, delayed non-Covid treatments, and other side effects. Other nations are being transparent.

Why not the U.S.?

Even Far-Left CNBC Realizes that the CDC’s 6-Foot Rule Was Likely the Single Costliest COVID Mitigation Tactic Employed to Date

By Joe Hoft
Published March 20, 2021 at 8:02pm
school-children-coronavirus-600x398.jpg

Even CNBC realized how insane the CDC’s 6-foot rule was in response to COVID. This action cost billions and its results are unknown but realistically minimal.

Hotair reported:
The CDC began the pandemic operating on the assumption that the coronavirus transmits the way the flu does, he notes, and they never quite abandoned that assumption despite the data to the contrary gathered over the past 12 months. Six feet of distance and frequent hand-washing makes sense when you have a virus that’s borne by large droplets. Those are more likely to end up deposited on surfaces than they are to be inhaled, particularly if you’re keeping some space between yourself and the infected person. For a virus that’s borne by aerosols, distance becomes less important. Aerosols can travel beyond six feet and may linger in the air; masking is more important than hand-washing when facing a threat like that.
The CDC was operating on the wrong model of what they were dealing with at the beginning — based on a guess, not on hard science — and by the time they started to move away from it many thousands of people were already infected. We’ll never know how many contracted COVID while studiously observing the six-foot rule, believing they were safe at that distance when they weren’t.
Dr. Gottlieb reported as follows:

Of course, the actions of the CDC over the past year have left most of America scratching their heads at various times.

Thousands demonstrate against Covid-19 restrictions

Thousands of people have protested in the north-western Swiss town of Liestal against restrictions introduced to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nearly 8,000 took part in the silent protest, according to journalists’ estimates. They had received police permission to gather, but many did not wear masks, flouting government rules. Many wore white suits.

Police did not intervene against those not wearing masks. A police spokesman said they preferred that the demonstration remain peaceful.

Some held up signs reading "Enough is enough", "Vaccines kill" and "Let love be your guide, not fear". The protest included speeches by coronavirus and vaccine sceptics.

This comes one day after the Swiss government backtracked on plans to ease Covid-19 restrictions, citing a rise in the number of cases and slower than expected vaccination rollout.

Bern protest blocked
Meanwhile, a heavy police deployment managed to prevent another planned demonstration – unauthorised -- against Covid-19 restrictions in the federal capital Bern.

A citizens’ group had called for the demonstration under the slogan “together for our freedom” on social media and flyers in Bern letterboxes.

ANTI-LOCKDOWN protesters clash with police in central London a week after Sarah Everard vigil.

Police clashed with Covid lockdown protesters in London on Saturday, March 20 amid criticism surrounding the Met Police’s handling of the Sarah Everard vigil last week.

The protest started at Hyde Park and continued onto Oxford Street, despite previous warnings of fines and arrests for breaching lockdown rules.

Thousands of protesters, including Piers Corbyn and Laurence Fox, marched through the streets of London. Video footage from the protests showed officers confronting the public as people were pulled to the ground and handcuffed while demonstrators shouted “shame on you.”

The Met Police said on Twitter: “Met officers are engaging with those gathering around Piccadilly and other areas of central London to protest, explaining that we remain in a public health crisis and urging people to disperse or go home.”

The protests come as more than 60 MPs and peers have signed a letter to Home Secretary Priti Patel and Health Secretary Matt Hancock warning that allowing police to criminalise people for protesting “is not acceptable and is arguably not lawful.” The letter was co-ordinated by Liberty and Big Brother Watch.

The letter follows public outcry over the way the Met Police handled a vigil last week on Clapham Common in memory of Sarah Everard.

Sam Grant, head of policy and campaigns at Liberty, said: “In a healthy democracy, protest is a critical way we can fight for what we believe in.”

“The Government’s current quasi-ban on protest is completely unacceptable.”

“Last week, the police conceded protest is not banned under the lockdown regulations but used them to threaten then arrest demonstrators anyway.”

Big Brother Watch director Silkie Carlo said: “A country cannot be described as a democracy if people do not have the freedom to protest. The harrowing scenes of police officers using force against women at Clapham Common recently were avoidable and wrong.”

“Over the past week, many more demonstrators and even legal observers have been arrested or fined. This stain on our democracy is a direct consequence of this Government’s disrespect for the most basic of British democratic freedoms.”

3 Hawaii residents fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are infected with the coronavirus

A vaccine that is 95% effective will protect 95 out of 100 people, meaning 5% may still contract the virus if exposed

Video on website 2:06 min
At least three people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in Hawaii were later infected with the virus. The Department of Health calls it break through cases.

Doctors KITV4 spoke with said they're not surprised and people should not be alarmed. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, current vaccines are between 66 and 95 percent effective. Physicians say the vaccine doesn't prevent infection but it does lower the risk hospitalization and severe symptoms.

One break through case involved a healthcare worker who visited multiple cities in the U.S. then tested positive after returning to Oahu. Dr. Melinda Ashton, Chief Quality Officer with Hawaii Pacific Health says that's an example of why traveling may increase risk of infection.

"Absolutely you need to be careful during those times when you’re in the airport, on the airplane, with other people in larger groups," Ashton said.

Only five people across the state are currently in an ICU bed with the coronavirus. At its peak last September, it was as high as 65. Dr. Julius Pham, chair of the COVID-19 committee at Queen's Medical Center, believes it's a clear sign vaccines offer protection against hospitalization.

"We haven't seen those type of numbers since early early in the pandemic," Pham said. "We're still having about 50-60 cases per day in the state but our hospitalization numbers are down more than the rate of infection in the state."

A common question still being asked about the vaccines? Are people diagnosed with COVID-19 after vaccination, more or less infectious.

"Overtime, as more people get vaccinated, we have more time under our belt with this vaccine, we have a better idea of how long the protection lasts," Dr. Michael Walter, Kalihi-Palama Health Center, said.

According to the health department, the fully vaccinated individuals who tested positive did not become severely ill and none of them are known to have transmitted the virus.

Since 2001
One has to wonder, if this new "le variant Breton" is not picked up by the gold standard PCR test, just how prevalent it is in the general population already, and if it's really not an issue. No doubt, it will be used by tyrannical governments as a reason to further eviscerate our liberties.
And as for the 'gold standard' (i.e.absolute accuracy) being the PCR test....not even remotely valid. The test is useless.
So if PCR can't detect new variants of a virus it wasn't able to originally detect, we have nothing but a movie.
Bad actors, too.

On little-noticed panel, Fauci and Chinese counterpart envision lengthy COVID restrictions

Pulmonologist and longtime Chinese Communist Party member Nanshan Zhong projects years of COVID mitigation measures, as Fauci warns against "jumping the gun" on reopening society.

By Daniel Payne
Updated: March 24, 2021 - 10:05am

Top U.S. infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci on a recent public health panel signaled common ground with a renowned Chinese doctor and public health administrator on the matter of ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, with both Fauci and his Chinese counterpart suggesting that those restrictions could continue for many months or even years.

Fauci in early March appeared on the virtual panel, titled "The Future of Health," hosted by the University of Edinburgh. Also present in the meeting was Chinese pulmonologist Zhong Nanshan, who has been at the forefront of China's response to the pandemic and who has been referred to by national spokeswoman Hua Chunying as "China's Fauci."

Zhong has a long career in the Chinese Communist Party hierarchy, having served for years in delegatory positions in both the CCP's National Congress and its National People's Congress.

He has also served on numerous state research initiatives and is the founder of the state-funded Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Diseases.

On the panel, Fauci and Zhong both expressed hopes that COVID-19 restrictions worldwide would continue well into the future.

Zhong himself claimed that efforts to develop natural immunity to COVID-19 are inadvisable from a national policy standpoint. "It doesn't work this way," he said. "And it's not realistic, and less scientific, and ... inhumane."

Zhong argued that "mass vaccinations" are the "commonsense" approach to engendering herd immunity in the population, but "to do that … will take about two or three years time with global collaboration."

"I have noticed in other countries," the doctor said elsewhere, "that actions [are] not so strict enough. So that will be not enough to stop the spreading of [the virus]."

Fauci himself echoed those concerns, warning against the danger of what he said was "jump[ing] the gun or do[ing] it too quickly" and seeming to imply that countries should keep COVID-19 measures in place even if they appear to have suppressed the virus within their borders.

"It is important to realize," Fauci claimed, "that variants arise, and if you suppress the virus in one country, but it is allowed to spread uninhibited in other areas of the world, sooner or later, the variants, the new lineages, the mutants, will come back and rekindle the outbreak, even in countries that seem to have it under control. So we still have a considerable amount of task in front of us."

The infectious disease expert later implied that countries should strive for the near-total elimination of the virus as a matter of public policy.

"If we do not completely suppress this," he said, "we will continue to be challenged by variants, which have a way of coming back to bite us."

Experts continue to advocate that restrictions remain in place indefinitely
Fauci himself did not respond to a request for comment seeking to learn if he agreed with Zhong's two-to-three-year estimate and if he believed measures such as masking and physical distancing would continue over that time period.

Yet his remarks on the panel were the latest in the doctor's public advocacy that COVID-19 mitigation measures continue for the foreseeable future even as the vaccine becomes more widespread.

Asked last month when Americans might anticipate foregoing masks in public places, Fauci told CNN that it was "possible" masking guidelines might remain in place into 2022.

Similar to his remarks alongside Zhong, Fauci during that interview expressed hope that, at some point, Americans will face "a minimal, minimal threat that you will be exposed to someone who is infected."

"f you combine getting most of the people in the country vaccinated with getting the level of virus in the community very, very low," he said, "then I believe you're going to be able to say, for the most part, we don't necessarily have to wear masks."

Mayo Clinic infectious disease expert Gregory Poland, meanwhile, said last month that individuals should continue following public health guidelines even after getting vaccinated.

"[W]hile the vaccine reduces your risk,” he argued, “it does not eliminate the risk of being exposed to having the disease and asymptomatically transmitting the virus to others."

One Year To Flatten Life As We Knew It

WEDNESDAY, MAR 24, 2021 - 03:30 AM
Authored by Rob Slane via TheBlogMire.com,

It is a year since we embarked on an untried, untested, unscientific, draconian and frankly mad medical, social, economic and psychological experiment on millions of people. On the day we were thrust into this folly I wrote, “So that seems to be that. The end of Britain as we knew it.” All that has taken place since has, I believe, confirmed that, and my only surprise is that millions of people still cling to the bizarre idea that Lockdowns were based on science, that they were necessary, that they have been effective, and that we have a benevolent Government whose aim has been to keep us all safe. None of these things are true.

A Brief Recap of What Has Taken Place
You will search in vain for pre-2020 medical and scientific literature advocating the mass quarantining of healthy people as an appropriate response to a pandemic. In fact, after a panicked Mexican Government flirted with the idea for five whole days during the 2009 Swine Flu outbreak (ending it once it was realised how devastating it would be), the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) at the time, Dr Margaret Chan, explicitly warned against such destructive measures being used:
“In this regard, let me make a strong plea to countries to refrain from introducing measures that are economically and socially disruptive, yet have no scientific justification and bring no clear public health benefit.”
So this disruptive, unscientific measure, with no clear public health benefit was quietly buried and forgotten about. Until, that it is, it was implemented in January 2020, in the Chinese province of Hubei, on the orders of Xi Jinping, leader of one of the most totalitarian regimes on the planet, as the lawyer Michael Sanger details in great depth here.

One might have expected the WHO to take the same line as Dr. Chan in 2009, yet by February it had inexplicably changed its pandemic response guidance, on the flimsiest and most unreliable evidence, bringing it into line with the Wuhan decree.

One might then have expected Western countries to reject this tyrannical approach, but shockingly they did not. In Britain, the perfectly sensible Pandemic Preparedness Strategy the Government had had in place since 2011, which stressed the absolute importance of ensuring minimal disruption to society, even during a virus outbreak that might take 315,000 lives in a 15 week period, was binned. Why? That is the single most important question to which we need answers, but I think that Professor Neil Ferguson gave us a big clue in his interview with The Times in December:
“They [the Chinese] claimed to have flattened the curve. I was skeptical at first. I thought it was a massive cover-up by the Chinese. But as the data accrued it became clear it was an effective policy. But it’s a communist one-party state, we said. We couldn’t get away with it in Europe, we thought. And then Italy did it. And we realized we could.”
His claim of flattening the curve is a red-herring. His comment that they realised they could get away with implementing the tactics of a despotic regime is not.

Having been failed by the WHO and the Government, surely the British people would not fall for something so self-evidently absurd as prohibiting millions of perfectly healthy people from coming into contact with other healthy people? Surely the spirit that had made this country one of the freest nations on earth would kick in?

Sadly, and bafflingly, no. The British people, through a combination of being bombarded with fear, hysteria and outright lies on an unprecedented scale, meekly submitted to these despotic decrees, believing them to be something to do with being kept safe.

The Lie of Asymptomatic Transmission and the Myth of Half a Million Deaths
The biggest lie by far is that of asymptomatic transmission. Indeed, it may one day become known as the biggest lie, told to the largest number of people, in the shortest space of time. The claim was based chiefly on an incident in Germany, where a Chinese lady, who was thought to have been asymptomatic, was said to have spread the illness. However, it subsequently turned out that she did in fact have symptoms, but had suppressed them with medication. Yet that was scarcely reported on, and by that time the myth that this was some kind of new, mystical disease that could be spread by people with no symptoms had been born, and with it the basis for the Lockdowns, masks, and the myriad of other bizarre, dystopian restrictions placed upon us. Later in the year, a huge study of 10 million people in Wuhan showed zero cases of asymptomatic spread, but as you can probably guess this was entirely ignored by Governments and media around the world.

What of Professor Ferguson’s claim of 510,000 deaths? This remains the basis for the claim of Lockdown supporters that there would have been hundreds of thousands more deaths had we not locked down. Apart from the fact that the UK is currently fifth on the worldwide deaths per million table having had the third most stringent Lockdown on planet earth, according to the University of Oxford, and that countries who did not lock down have fared no worse, is there anything else that we can point to, to show the fallacy of Professor Ferguson’s doomsday prophecy?

Why yes there is, and it is in fact contained within Professor Ferguson’s report itself. He arrived at his figure of 510,000 dead for a “no-restrictions” scenario by estimating that 81% of the population would become infected, and by assuming an Infection Fatality Rate (IFR) of Covid-19 at 0.9%. However, in October, arguably the world’s foremost epidemiologist, John Ioannidis, of Stanford University, California, published a definitive study into the IFR of Covid-19. He calculated that the median rate was 0.23%, not 0.9%, as Ferguson had assumed, and his work was accepted and approved by the WHO.

This is very important: If Ferguson had used the IFR number of 0.23%, rather than 0.9%, guess what number of deaths he would have arrived at? The answer is around 127,000. Which is mighty interesting, since the total number of “official” deaths from Covid-19, at the time of writing, is 126,172. In other words, if Ferguson had used the correct IFR, the number of deaths he would have predicted in a scenario with no Lockdown would have been the same number of official deaths that we’ve actually had with the 3rd most stringent Lockdown on earth. Of course, I’m well aware that those 126,000 or so deaths were not all from Covid-19, but Lockdown supporters claim they were and so it’s for them to explain how this number is currently the same as Ferguson’s study would have predicted for a non-Lockdown situation, had he used the correct IFR.

That Lockdowns have not saved lives ought to be obvious. The virus was known since early March 2020 to overwhelmingly kill the elderly with comorbidities, and so resources could and should have been targeted to protect such people. Yet the scattergun approach that was taken of quarantining everyone is not — by definition — a targeted approach. And so the irony is that with all the absurd calls for healthy people to change their whole way of life to protect the vulnerable, what actually happened is the healthy had their lives utterly overturned, and the vulnerable were left to die.

The Destructive Power of Lockdowns
So much for the futility of Lockdowns to do good, what about their destructive power? This cannot be overstated. They are destroying lives. They are destroying livelihoods. They are destroying jobs. They are destroying businesses. They are destroying education. They are destroying churches. They are destroying trust. They are destroying mental health. They are destroying marriages. They are destroying relationships. They are destroying communities. They are destroying the idea that the police serve the people. They are destroying the rule of law.

They are destroying free Britain.

Time and space will not suffice to tell of the destruction to the delicate balances of life in the medical sphere (especially weakened immune systems), the social sphere, the psychological sphere and the economic sphere, or the slide to a Transhumanist future brought about by the incessant calls for humans to stay away from other humans, and the bizarre ritual of covering the human face — the most immediate and important physical manifestation of the Imago Dei — with useless bits of cloth.

To those who have acquiesced in this, I would just ask this: Do you still not see what you have done? Do you still not see what it is you have supported?

The Britain that existed prior to March 2020, or which many of us thought existed, is gone. The Britain, in which we took freedom for granted, is gone. We have entered a very different future, and what is more, the vast majority of people seem to have welcomed it. Worse than this, we are being ushered into a Transhumanist Technocracy, where we are not seen as human, made in the image of God, but merely as potential virus carriers, digital ID numbers, drones fit to be tracked and traced, fit to be watched and ordered about by the dystopian technocrats who are building their Medical Despotism around us, but not considered worthy to live quiet and peaceful lives, going about our lawful business, living life without interfering overlords meddling in every aspect of it.

Why has this happened?
For the first few months I hedged my bets between the idea that the continuance of these measures was down to politicians trying to cover up for a monumental blunder, or that it was part of something far more nefarious. And whilst I am still unclear on the origins, for me the “covering up for a big mistake” possibility became untenable in October, with the release of The Great Barrington Declaration. This was a scientifically sound, medically robust, intellectually credible way out of the crisis that had been created. It was an open door for the British Government, along with others around the world, to walk through and save face. But what actually happened is they either ignored it or, in the case of Comrade Hancock, actively ridiculed it.

I think it obvious by now that there is something far more nefarious going on. But how to explain it? Some imagine that this must require some Dr Evil character, pulling the strings and making his puppets all dance to the same tune. I don’t believe this to be so. Anyone who has even the most cursory knowledge of politics over the past two decades must have noticed that almost all the people who rise to the top have broadly the same ideology. They think the same things. They mouth the same platitudes. They walk the same walk. And if you don’t think, speak or walk like them, why you’ll never be invited to the party. It is fairly obvious that many of these people have seen Covid-19 as an opportunity to increase their power, to control people, and to remake society in their own hideous image.

But that’s not all. I have seen endless disquieting comments – echoing my own thoughts – from both Christians and non-Christians, that the inexplicably bizarre reaction to what happened was as if millions of people have been put under some kind of spell. On this, it would be well to remember that there are things that go on which are well beyond our ability to explain by purely human reason and human actions:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:1).
Looking to the Future
Having been lulled and propagandised into the acceptance of measures that are not only futile in and of themselves, but which have destroyed the idea of what we might call normal life, millions have now been lulled into the idea that rushed, untried, untested “vaccines”, which are not due to finish their clinical trials until 2023 (see links to Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Moderna trials), are some sort of salvation and way back to normal. But as the news in recent days has shown, they are in for a big disappointment. Your overlords do not want to let you return to normal. They have the bit between their teeth, and I don’t think they are about to let this opportunity go.

What we are seeing is far bigger, far more comprehensive, far more awful than most of us can comprehend. As Naomi Wolf summed up in a fantastic commentary on the situation recently:
“But this time we do not just face a war on freedom. This time we face a war on human beings, and on all that makes us human.”
Indeed. From Lockdowns to social distancing to masks, humanity and what it means to be human is under attack. There is but one peaceful way out of this Transhumanist Technocratic future: individuals, churches and nations need to repent before God, and having repented they need to plead with Him for deliverance from this judgement, and that he will re-establish truth, reality, and what it actually means to be human, in a world that has forgotten these things. The hour is late. The need really is urgent.

Americans Are Wildly Misinformed about the Risk of Hospitalization from COVID-19, Survey Shows. Here’s Why

A recent Gallup survey found that more than one-third of Americans believe that at least half of those infected with COVID-19 require hospitalization. How did we get here?

Tuesday, March 23, 2021

Jon Miltimore

A recent survey found that more than one-third of Americans overestimate by as much as a factor of ten the probability a person with COVID-19 will require hospitalization.

Researchers involved in the Franklin Templeton/Gallup study asked Americans in December what “percentage of people who have been infected by the coronavirus needed to be hospitalized." The correct answer is not precisely known, the authors note, but the best available estimates place the figure between 1 and 5 percent.

Many people’s perceptions of the data, however, were completely off.

“Less than one in five U.S. adults (18%) give a correct answer of between 1 and 5%,” the study authors said. “Many adults (35%) say that at least half of infected people need hospitalization. If that were true, the millions of resulting patients would have overwhelmed hospitals throughout the pandemic.”

The authors of the study say the conclusion is clear.

“The U.S. public is also deeply misinformed about the severity of the virus for the average infected person,” the study’s authors stated.
1616611016879.png

Why Are Americans so Misinformed?
The obvious question is why Americans are so wildly misinformed about the true risks of COVID-19.

One possibility is that Americans are receiving information that is skewing their sense of reality, and research confirms this hypothesis.

Studies have shown that US media in particular created a climate of fear by publishing a deluge of negative news in 2020. One Ivy League-led study found that 91 percent of US stories in major media were negative in tone (compared to just 54 percent in non-US media)—even when the virus was in retreat and positive results were being achieved.

'Those who overestimate risks to young people or hold an exaggerated sense of risk upon infection are more likely to favor closing schools, restaurants, and other businesses,' the authors note.

“The negativity of the U.S. major media is notable even in areas with positive scientific developments including school re-openings and vaccine trials,” researchers noted. “Stories of increasing COVID-19 cases outnumber stories of decreasing cases by a factor of 5.5 even during periods when new cases are declining.”

1616611079863.png

As I noted when the study was released, a global pandemic isn’t exactly a cheerful topic. Yet this fact alone doesn’t explain the discrepancy between US media coverage and non-US media. Nor does it explain why negative news trends continue even during positive developments—such as declines in cases, hospitalizations, and deaths, as well as vaccine breakthroughs.

The steady drumbeat of negativity was described as “panic porn” by some media critics.

“Enough with the 'life will never be the same' headlines,” HBO pundit Bill Maher said back in April. “Everything looks scary when you magnify it a thousand times.… We need the news to calm down and treat us like adults.”

That didn’t happen, however. Months later, as the virus had receded and scientists concluded COVID was not as deadly as previously thought, the media were still engaging in panic porn, characterizing Florida’s laissez-faire approach to the pandemic as a “death march.”

In his work Crisis and Leviathan, the economist Robert Higgs observed that crises have been utilized to mount the biggest government power grabs in modern history.

Why media and public officials engaged in panic porn for months is a discussion for another day. What’s apparent is that the phenomenon severely skewed Americans' sense of reality as it relates to the actual dangers of COVID-19, a virus that does not require hospitalization for up to 99 percent of those infected.

Unfortunately, authors of the Franklin Templeton/Gallup study say, the disconnect has real-world consequences.

“Those who overestimate risks to young people or hold an exaggerated sense of risk upon infection are more likely to favor closing schools, restaurants, and other businesses,” the authors note.

Lockdowns: A Policy of Panic
The harms of these lockdown policies are well-documented: severe mental health deterioration, mass social unrest, health procedures deferred or foregone, soaring global poverty, increased suicide, extreme loneliness, and many others.

FEE’s Brad Polumbo recently testified before the US Senate on some of these dangers, noting that doctors across the world warn lockdowns have resulted in an “international epidemic” of child suicide.

View: https://youtu.be/s82ugduPGlM
5:43 min

These were policies born of panic.

“When people feel fear, they’re much more willing to accept anything that makes the world seem a little safer,” Sean Malone noted early in the pandemic in an episode of Out of Frame.
For far too long Americans were told they must sacrifice liberty by embracing lockdowns or risk mass fatalities. This was always a false choice, and a dangerous one. The reality is, passing sweeping legislation during panics is a recipe for bad outcomes. But all too often, that is precisely what happens.

In his work Crisis and Leviathan, the economist Robert Higgs observed that crises have been utilized to mount the biggest government power grabs in modern history. During the Great Depression it was the New Deal. Following the 9-11 attacks it was the War on Terror and the Patriot Act (and everything that came with them). In 2020 it was the lockdowns.

Each of these historic encroachments was driven by mass panic. In each instance, only in hindsight did it become apparent that the greater danger we faced was fear itself.

This isn’t to say there are not real threats in the world. The pandemic, terrorism, and the Great Depression were all genuine threats.

It’s only to say we must reject panic in our decision making, and those who would have us abandon freedom for the false promise of safety.

India Discovers First "Double-Mutant" COVID Strain As New Cases Surge
WEDNESDAY, MAR 24, 2021 - 09:50 PM
Time to crank the fear gauge up to '11'.

Following a series of reports warning about mutated COVID strains first identified in Brazil, the US and elsewhere spreading across Latin America, the US and Europe, scientists in India are one-upping them by identifying what they described as "a double-mutant" strain of the ubiquitous virus.

The 'double-mutant' was identified, along with 770 other strains, gleaned from samples collected across 18 Indian states. Of the 10,787 samples collected, 736 tested positive for the UK variant, 34 for the South African variant and one for the Brazilian variant. The report comes as COVID cases in India are climbing once again after the nation managed to bring numbers close to zero. The country has reported a total of 11.7MM cases, and 160.4K deaths.

While the Indian government insists there's no link between the variants and the surge in cases (India rolled back most of its virus-inspired restrictions on business and movement months ago). India became the fifth country in the world to sequence the COVID virus's genome last January.

Still, a consortium of 10 national laboratories working with India's government said this week they would monitor the new double-variant, which was traced to Mahahrashtra state. Although scientists said none of the variants appeared to be circulating widely enough yet to be causing the surge in cases, they called on authorities to ramp up testing and ensure new cases caused by the variant are swiftly isolated. In response, the government is ramping up certain restrictions, along with its vaccination drive.

As far as the remaining COVID restrictions are concerned, hundreds of thousands of Indians ignored them last week when they came out to celebrate Holi, a week-long affair commemorating the advent of spring.

But what, exactly, is a "double-mutant"? A scientist who spoke with the BBC explained why the double-mutation could make the strain more infectious, and more virulent.
A double mutation, virologist Shahid Jameel explains, is "two mutations coming together in the same virus"
"A double mutation in the key areas of the virus's spike protein may increase these risks and allow the virus to escape the immune system and make it more infectious," he adds.
Spike protein is the part of the virus that it uses to penetrate human cells.
The government said that an analysis of the samples collected from India's western Maharashtra state shows "an increase in the fraction of samples with the E484Q and L452R mutations" compared with December last year.

"Such [double] mutations confer immune escape and increased infectivity," the Health Ministry said in a statement

Dr Jameel added that "there may be a separate lineage developing in India with the L452R and E484Q mutations coming together".
But the government denied that the rise in case numbers was linked to the mutations.

"Though VOCs [variants of concern] and a new double mutant variant have been found in India, these have not been detected in numbers sufficient to either establish a direct relationship or explain the rapid increase in cases in some states."
India's Serum Institute is expected to play a major role in supplying the world with enough COVID jabs to vaccinate the entire population of the planet. But given the speed of the worrying surge in cases, Indian states have already begun re-introducing restrictions, including curfews and intermittent lockdowns, to control the spread of the virus. At least two major cities, capital Delhi and financial center Mumbai, have ordered randomized rapid testing at airports, train stations, shopping malls and other crowded areas. India's fe is also expanding

Bloomberg Op-Ed: “We Must Start Planning for a Permanent Pandemic”

“Endless cycle” of restrictions will remain.

Bloomberg has published an article by Andreas Kluth which argues that new variants of COVID-19 mean the pandemic will be “permanent” and that there will be an “endless cycle” of restrictions.

Kluth says that the idea the world will at some point go “back to normal” is “almost certainly wrong” and that SARS-CoV-2 will become “our permanent enemy, like the flu but worse.”

The author cites “the ongoing emergence of new variants that behave almost like new viruses” which means that “we may never achieve herd immunity” because current vaccines are “powerless against the coming mutations.”

“If this is the evolutionary trajectory of SARS-CoV-2, we’re in for seemingly endless cycles of outbreaks and remissions, social restrictions and relaxations, lockdowns and reopenings,” says Kluth. “At least in rich countries, we will probably get vaccinated a couple of times a year, against the latest variant in circulation, but never fast or comprehensively enough to achieve herd immunity.”

Despite the fact the global population has been hit with worse pandemics which at the time it had far less medical expertise to deal with and eventually got over them, Kluth somehow thinks that won’t be the case with COVID.

Kluth is by no means the first to suggest that the pandemic won’t end for years if ever.
In his book Covid-19: The Great Reset, World Economic Forum globalist Klaus Schwab asserts that the world will “never” return to normal, despite him admitting that coronavirus “doesn’t pose a new existential threat.”

A senior U.S. Army official also said that mask wearing and social distancing will become permanent, while CNN’s international security editor Nick Paton Walsh asserted that the mandatory wearing of masks will become “permanent,” “just part of life,” and that the public would need to “come to terms with it.”

Earlier this week, we highlighted the comments of Mary Ramsay, the head of immunisation at Public Health England, who said that restrictions would remain in place for years.

Massive Backlash to ‘No Jab, No Pub’ Proposal

Government still working on domestic vaccine passport despite huge opposition.

There has been a massive backlash in the UK to a proposal to mandate COVID vaccinations to enter a pub, with one pub chain owner branding the idea “appalling” and “almost certainly illegal.”

As we highlighted yesterday, despite months of the government assuring the public that there would be no ‘domestic vaccine passport’, Boris Johnson told a committee, “The concept of vaccine certification should not be totally alien to us” and said that it should be up to landlords on whether to enforce it.

During an appearance on told talkRADIO, Hugh Osmond, the founder of UK pub chain Punch Taverns, labeled the proposal “the most appalling idea” and said it was “almost certainly illegal.”

Osmond also pointed out that innumerable people in their 20s and 30s would be discriminated against because they won’t be offered the vaccine for months.

Adam Brooks, a publican who runs several pubs, echoed that sentiment when he tweeted, “Anything but normal trading past June 21st is an utter DISGRACE. “Once every adult has been OFFERED vaccination, the Government & Health care system has done its job. Life has to return.”

1616708082929.png

Kate Nicholls, the CEO of hospitality trade association UKHospitality, also blasted the idea as not “necessary or proportionate” and said it would “would put lots of businesses in a very difficult position.”

Steve Baker MP, deputy chairman of the COVID Recovery Group, warned that the domestic vaccine passport could extend to virtually every area of life.

“First they said we’ll need them to watch the football, and today that it may be papers for the pub.”

“Whether the state legislates for it, recommends it or simply allows it the result will be the same: a two-tier Britain that prevents pregnant women from taking part in society, given that the government is telling them not to take the vaccine.”

“Or one where we turn back the clock and tolerate businesses turning away customers from communities which have shown an unfortunate hesitancy to take up the offer of a vaccine.”
“We must not fall into this ghastly trap.”

Pete Tiley of the Salutation Inn told the Telegraph’s Adrian Tierney-Jones, “Adding a vaccine passport check on top will create further hassle and aggravation, and will make going for a relaxing pint tougher than getting through airport security.”

However, Becky Newman at the Bricklayer’s Arms in Putney supported the idea, telling Tierney-Jones, “I imagine it’s going to take a year or so for people to begin to feel relaxed again about being in public spaces. So, with this in mind, I think I am quite pro-vaccine passport. It feels quite community spirited.”

After a subsequent backlash on Twitter from her potential customers, Newman quickly changed her mind, stating, “General consensus from customers on Twitter so far is a big fat no!”

We Must Start Planning For a Permanent Pandemic
With coronavirus mutations pitted against vaccinations in a global arms race, we may never go back to normal.

The arms race of our time.

The arms race of our time.

Andreas Kluth is a columnist for Bloomberg Opinion. He was previously editor in chief of Handelsblatt Global and a writer for the Economist. He's the author of "Hannibal and Me."

For the past year, an assumption — sometimes explicit, often tacit — has informed almost all our thinking about the pandemic: At some point, it will be over, and then we’ll go “back to normal.”

This premise is almost certainly wrong. SARS-CoV-2, protean and elusive as it is, may become our permanent enemy, like the flu but worse. And even if it peters out eventually, our lives and routines will by then have changed irreversibly. Going “back” won’t be an option; the only way is forward. But to what exactly?

Most epidemics disappear once populations achieve herd immunity and the pathogen has too few vulnerable bodies available as hosts for its self-propagation. This herd protection comes about through the combination of natural immunity in people who’ve recovered from infection and vaccination of the remaining population.

In the case of SARS-CoV-2, however, recent developments suggest that we may never achieve herd immunity. Even the U.S., which leads most other countries in vaccinations and already had large outbreaks, won’t get there. That’s the upshot of an analysis by Christopher Murray at the University of Washington and Peter Piot at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

The main reason is the ongoing emergence of new variants that behave almost like new viruses.

A clinical vaccine trial in South Africa showed that people in the placebo group who had previously been infected with one strain had no immunity against its mutated descendant and became reinfected. There are similar reports from parts of Brazil that had massive outbreaks and subsequently suffered renewed epidemics.

That leaves only vaccination as a path toward lasting herd immunity. And admittedly, some of the shots available today are still somewhat effective against some of the new variants. But over time they will become powerless against the coming mutations.

Of course, vaccine makers are already feverishly working on making new jabs. In particular, inoculations based on the revolutionary mRNA technology I’ve previously described can be updated faster than any vaccine in history. But the serum still needs to be made, shipped, distributed and jabbed.

And that process can’t happen fast enough, nor cover the planet widely enough. Yes, some of us may win a regional round or two against the virus, by vaccinating one particular population — as Israel has done, for instance. But evolution doesn’t care where it does its work, and the virus replicates wherever it finds warm and unvaccinated bodies with cells that let it reproduce its RNA. As it copies itself, it makes occasional coding mistakes. And some of those chance errors turn into yet more mutations.

These viral avatars are popping up wherever there’s a lot of transmission going on and somebody bothers to look closely. A British, a South African and at least one Brazilian strain have already become notorious, but I’ve also seen reports of viral cousins and nephews showing up in California, Oregon and elsewhere. If we were to sequence samples in more places, we’d probably find even more relatives.

We should therefore assume that the virus is already mutating fast in the many poor countries that have so far received no jabs at all, even if their youthful populations keep mortality manageable and thus mask the severity of local outbreaks. Last month, Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, reminded the world that 75% of all shots had been administered in just 10 countries, while 130 others hadn’t primed a single syringe.

A pathogen’s evolution is neither surprising nor automatically worrisome. One frequent pattern is that bugs over time become more contagious but less virulent. After all, not killing your host too efficiently confers an advantage in natural selection. If SARS-CoV-2 goes this route, it’ll eventually become just another common cold.

But that’s not what it’s been doing recently. The variants we know of have become more infectious, but no less lethal. From an epidemiological point of view, that’s the worst news.

Consider two alternative evolutionary paths. In one, a virus becomes more severe but not more transmissible. It will cause more disease and death, but the growth is linear. In the other path, a mutating virus becomes neither more nor less virulent but more contagious. It will cause increases in disease and death that are exponential rather than linear. Adam Kucharski at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine explains the math here.

If this is the evolutionary trajectory of SARS-CoV-2, we’re in for seemingly endless cycles of outbreaks and remissions, social restrictions and relaxations, lockdowns and reopenings. At least in rich countries, we will probably get vaccinated a couple of times a year, against the latest variant in circulation, but never fast or comprehensively enough to achieve herd immunity.

I’m not arguing for defeatism here. In the grand sweep of history, Covid-19 is still a relatively mild pandemic. Smallpox killed nine out of 10 Native Americans after the Spanish brought it to the Americas in the 16th century. The Black Death carried off about half of the Mediterranean population when it first came to Europe in the sixth century. Worldwide, the coronavirus has killed fewer than four in 10,000 so far. And with our science and technology, we’re armed as our ancestors never were.

But we must also be realistic. Resilience demands that we include this new scenario into our planning. The good news is that we keep getting better at responding. In each lockdown, for example, we damage the economy less than in the previous one. And we may achieve scientific breakthroughs that will eventually make life better. Our Brave New World needn’t be dystopian. But it won’t look anything like the old world.

This column does not necessarily reflect the opinion of the editorial board or Bloomberg LP and its owners.

[Bitish] Supreme Court Judge Expects People Will Be Forced To Wear Masks, Stay Home For TEN YEARS

“It’s politically unrealistic to expect the Government to backtrack now”

British former Supreme Court judge Lord Sumption has warned that “social controls” brought about by the coronavirus pandemic may be kept in place by governments for up to a decade.

“It’s politically unrealistic to expect the Government to backtrack now,” commented Sumption, who has been highly critical of the government’s ‘totalitarian’ lockdown policies.

View: https://youtu.be/LaKkFCiDenw
13:42 min

The judge compared the reaction to rationing after the Second World War, which went on for nine years, adding that this time “I think it may be even longer.”

“An interesting parallel is the continuation of wartime food rationing after the last war. People were in favour of that because they were in favour of social control,” he said during a ‘Sketch notes on’ podcast.

“In the 1951 general election, the Labour party lost its majority entirely because people with five years more experience of social control got fed up with it. Sooner or later that will happen in this country,” he added.

Sumption’s warning comes in the wake of Public Health England officials stating that restrictions will remain in place for as long as other countries have not vaccinated everyone, a process likely to take years.

England’s chief medical officer also recently asserted that the pandemic restrictions, which have been in place on and off for a year, have “improved life” for some people.

Despite promising an end to restrictions in June, the UK government yesterday extended emergency COVID laws until October, with Health minister Matt Hancock refusing to say how long they will remain in place after that.

Lord Sumption also noted during the podcast that scientists skeptical of lockdown policies have been “subjected to an extraordinarily unpleasant campaign of personal abuse”.

“I know a lot of people that would prefer not to put their head above the parapet,” He continued, adding “From the very moment I started to make these points I began to get emails from politicians who agreed with what I had to say but that they themselves didn’t dare to speak out. That I think is a very serious state of affairs.”

The judge also argued that governments are using the virus politically, noting “They have consistently tried to maintain that the virus is indiscriminate when it is perfectly well-established that it primarily affects people with identifiable vulnerabilities, particularly in the elderly.”

Speaking about the draconian crack down on anti-lockdown protesters, Sumption said “People ought to be entitled to voice their differences (of opinion),” adding “If the only way you can enforce distancing is by beating people over the head with truncheons then it’s not worth it.”

Now that Brits have allowed society to be permanently deformed, with polls routinely showing vehement support for lockdown and other pandemic rules, things are never going to be the same again.

Having allowed the precedent that the government can put the entire population under de facto house arrest on a whim, look for the policy to be repeated over and over again with different justifications that have nothing to do with COVID-19.

As we previously highlighted, one of those justifications will be man-made global warming, with climate lockdowns set to become a regular reality.

Ex-CDC Director Says He Believes Coronavirus Escaped From A Chinese Lab
The White House Holds Daily Briefing On Coronavirus Pandemic

CHUCK ROSSINVESTIGATIVE REPORTER
March 26, 202110:39 AM ET

Dr. Robert Redfield, former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), cast doubt on the prevalent theory about the origins of the coronavirus, saying in an interview released Friday that he believes the virus escaped from a science lab in China.

“I do not believe this somehow came from a bat to a human,” Redfield told CNN’s Sanjay Gupta for a special on the virus that airs Sunday.

“Normally, when a pathogen goes from a zoonot to human, it takes a while for it to figure out how to become more and more efficient in human to human transmission,” Redfield said.
Redfield, who helped lead the Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, said that he believes that the virus started transmitting in Wuhan, China, in September or October of 2019, likely as the result of a leak from a lab in the city.

“That’s my own feelings. And only opinion. I’m allowed to have opinions now,” he said in the interview.

“Now, I am of the point of view that I still think the most likely aetiology of this pathogen in Wuhan was from a laboratory, escaped,” Redfield said.

Redfield acknowledged that his view puts him in the minority in the scientific community. Most researchers have said that they believe the virus jumped from a bat to a human.

But the lab leak theory has gained traction in recent months as a possible explanation for the virus’ start. Trump administration officials, including former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe hinted at undisclosed evidence they said supports the lab leak theory.

Adherents to the hypothesis have noted that the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), which studies coronavirus, is near the area where the virus initially started spreading in 2019.

“The other people don’t believe that. That’s fine,” Redfield told CNN’s Gupta.

“Science will eventually figure it out. It’s not unusual for respiratory pathogens that are being worked on in a laboratory to infect the laboratory worker,” Redfield said.

A World Health Organization (WHO) team that visited Wuhan in February to study the origins of the virus is expected to release a report of their findings soon. Some members of the team have said that it is “unlikely” that the virus started from a lab accident.

But the WHO team’s credibility has been called into question because of alleged conflicts of interest involving team member Peter Daszak.

Daszak, the lone American on the WHO mission, has received millions of dollars in contracts for research with the WIV.

He has also long been critical of the lab leak theory. Daszak organized a group of scientists in February 2020 to release a letter through The Lancet medical journal casting doubt on the hypothesis.

The risks parents aren’t being told about the COVID tests children are taking in schools

Sadly, such is the myopia over COVID-19, there seems to be little concern or sympathy for the plight of our children or the concerns of parents.

KEY POINTS
  • Please watch, enjoy and share our new 1950s-style video highlighting the very real dangers of nasal swabs to our children
  • Mass testing is causing more problems than it’s solving with schools reopening only to close again and many children and their close contacts having to self-isolate, potentially unnecessarily
  • We share the MRI scans from an American woman whose brain lining was punctured by a swab
  • We expose possible dangers from the use of a known carcinogen used to sterilise swabs prior to use
  • Repeated hand washing is causing distressing and painful damage to children’s skin
  • The harms from long periods of mask wearing by children in school are becoming ever more apparent

March 25, 2021 (Alliance for Natural Health) — To supposedly support the return of British kids to school, over 7 million lateral flow tests have so far been undertaken, from nursery to higher education settings. That figure is set to rise dramatically as secondary school pupils are offered the voluntary, but strongly encouraged opportunity to test twice weekly. Such high levels of testing come at a huge financial, educational and social cost, where only the first of these has been approximated so far.

Multiple media reports abound of schools that have reopened then just as quickly closed along with reports of thousands of children once again at home having to self-isolate because a pupil has received a positive test, which may or may not be an accurate indicator of infection.

All of this when Gavin Williamson, the UK’s education secretary, admitted last year there’s little evidence of significant viral transmission in schools. One wonders if the siloes of education and health within the UK government actually communicate?

"...one of the largest studies on the coronavirus in schools in the world", would make it "clear there is little evidence that the virus is transmitted at school."
- Gavin Williamson, UK education secretary, BBC News, 10 August 2020
Poker – fact-checked!
We have previously warned of the potential harms of untrained children poking swabs up their noses. Despite the claims of fact checkers to the contrary, this is a very real and possible scenario as can be seen from the MRI scans on a 40-year-old woman who suffered just such an injury.

Carcinogen in nasal swabs
Concerns are now being expressed over the use of a known carcinogen, ethylene oxide (EtO), to sterilise the swabs used for COVID tests. Ethylene oxide is a commonly used sterilisation agent used in the production of medical devices such as swabs. Exposure to sterilised swabs during the manufacturing process is carefully monitored due to the known hazards from exposure to EtO.

Research by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 2016, revealed EtO is carcinogenic to humans when it is inhaled. While people are rarely or only occasionally exposed to nasal swabs – what about their unforeseen chronic (repeated) use in children?

As with so many chemicals, it’s the dose and level of exposure that makes the poison. And children, particularly young children, are significantly more sensitive to chemical exposures than adults potentially loading the gun for ill health in later life.

Washing away natural protections
Of all the non-pharmaceutical interventions designed to reduce transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, handwashing is considered to be one of the easiest to implement. Simple and safe for all to carry out, with little harm. That is until you introduce harsh chemical sanitisers designed to kill all known bugs. The toll it can take on a child’s delicate skin, especially those who suffer from skin conditions such as eczema, can be immense leading to painful, cracked and bleeding skin, that’s extremely distressing. Some parents have resorted to removing their children from school to deal with the problem.

Mask up
Most secondary schools are rigorously applying and policing government recommendations to wear masks when in school. Those who dare to reject the notion often face ridicule from their peers and are placed under extreme pressure by school staff to conform. We’re hearing more and more stories of young people struggling in class due to the harms of wearing masks for long periods.

Campaign group, Us for Them, has received many reports of children experiencing breathing difficulties, headaches and dizziness along with light headedness, fatigue and facial rashes (distressing enough for an adult, but even more so for a teenager). Such reports have been echoed in Parliament by MP Robert Halfon, chair of the Education Committee.

In an attempt to quantify the harms of mask wearing by children, researchers in Germany created a survey to collect feedback from parents, doctors and teachers. Over 20,000 people responded to report harms such as irritability (60%), headache (53%), difficulty concentrating (50%), unhappiness (49%), drowsiness/fatigue (37%) and difficulty learning (38%). It’s of no surprise to find an editorial note has since been added to the study published in Research Square trying to minimise its finding!

Epilogue
Sadly, such is the myopia over COVID-19, there seems to be little concern or sympathy for the plight of our children or the concerns of parents. Or the harms of scientifically unsupported diktats that are being swept aside by the U.K. and other governments as they continue to marginalise freedom, human rights and the natural course of the relationship between humans and pathogens that have existed for millennia.

With each passing day it seems that any retrospective view of governments’ handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-21 will show that the ends, in whatever form that eventually takes, never justified the means and its associated harms.

GOP Rep. Katko: ‘There’s Going to Be a COVID Problem’ on the Border

IAN HANCHETT27 Mar 2021137

On Friday’s broadcast of Fox News Radio’s “Fox Across America,” House Homeland Security Committee Ranking Member John Katko (R-NY) stated that “there’s going to be a COVID problem” on the southern border.

Katko said, “Think about this: We can’t even go to church like we used to. Our schools are still shut down, a lot of them. Our northern border with Canada, which is a very secure border, is completely shut down because of COVID. Yet, hundreds of thousands of people are coming across, and they’re not testing them before they’re releasing them into the community. So, of course, there’s going to be a COVID problem down there. And it’s the ultimate irony that our neighbors to the north, who we’re very friendly with, we’re not budging on the border issue. On the south, we are.”

After A Year Under Lockdown, Will Our Freedoms Survive The Tyranny of COVID-19?

FRIDAY, MAR 26, 2021 - 11:00 PM
Authored by John W. Whitehead & Nisha Whitehead via The Rutherford Institute,
“The remedy is worse than the disease.”
- Francis Bacon
One way or another, the majority of Americans will survive COVID-19.

It remains to be seen, however, whether our freedoms will survive the tyranny of the government’s heavy-handed response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Indeed, now that the government has gotten a taste for flexing its police state powers by way of a bevy of lockdowns, mandates, restrictions, contact tracing programs, heightened surveillance, censorship, overcriminalization, etc., we may all be long-haulers, suffering under the weight of long-term COVID-19 afflictions.

Instead of dealing with the headaches, fatigue and neurological aftereffects of the virus, however, “we the people” may well find ourselves burdened with a Nanny State inclined to use its draconian pandemic powers to protect us from ourselves.

Therein lies the danger of the government’s growing addiction to power.

What started out a year ago as an apparent effort to prevent a novel coronavirus from sickening the nation (and the world) has become yet another means by which world governments (including our own) can expand their powers, abuse their authority, and further oppress their constituents.

Until recently, the police state had been more circumspect in its power grabs, but this latest state of emergency has brought the beast out of the shadows.

It’s a given that you can always count on the government to take advantage of a crisis, legitimate or manufactured. Emboldened by the citizenry’s inattention and willingness to tolerate its abuses, the government has weaponized one national crisis after another in order to expand its powers.

The war on terror, the war on drugs, the war on illegal immigration, asset forfeiture schemes, road safety schemes, school safety schemes, eminent domain: all of these programs started out as legitimate responses to pressing concerns and have since become weapons of compliance and control in the police state’s hands.

It doesn’t even matter what the nature of the crisis might be—civil unrest, the national emergencies, “unforeseen economic collapse, loss of functioning political and legal order, purposeful domestic resistance or insurgency, pervasive public health emergencies, and catastrophic natural and human disasters”—as long as it allows the government to justify all manner of government tyranny in the name of so-called national security.

This coronavirus pandemic has been no exception.

Not only have the federal and state governments unraveled the constitutional fabric of the nation with lockdown mandates that sent the economy into a tailspin and wrought havoc with our liberties, but they have almost persuaded the citizenry to depend on the government for financial handouts, medical intervention, protection and sustenance.

This past year under lockdown was a lesson in many things, but most of all, it was a lesson in how to indoctrinate a populace to love and obey Big Brother.

What started off as an experiment in social distancing in order to flatten the curve of this virus, and not overwhelm the nation’s hospitals or expose the most vulnerable to unavoidable loss of life scenarios quickly became strongly worded suggestions for citizens to voluntarily stay at home and strong-armed house arrest orders with penalties in place for non-compliance.

Every day brought a drastic new set of restrictions by government bodies (most have been delivered by way of executive orders) at the local, state and federal level that were eager to flex their muscles for the so-called “good” of the populace.

There was talk of mass testing for COVID-19 antibodies, screening checkpoints, mass surveillance in order to carry out contact tracing, immunity passports to allow those who have recovered from the virus to move around more freely, snitch tip lines for reporting “rule breakers” to the authorities, and heavy fines and jail time for those who dare to venture out without a mask, congregate in worship without the government’s blessing, or re-open their businesses without the government’s say-so.

To some, these may seem like small, necessary steps in the war against the COVID-19 virus, but they’re only necessary to the Deep State in its efforts to further undermine the Constitution, extend its control over the populace, and feed its insatiable appetite for ever-greater powers.

After all, whatever dangerous practices you allow the government to carry out now—whether it’s in the name of national security or protecting America’s borders or making America healthy again—rest assured, these same practices can and will be used against you when the government decides to set its sights on you.

The war on drugs turned out to be a war on the American people, waged with SWAT teams and militarized police. The war on terror turned out to be a war on the American people, waged with warrantless surveillance and indefinite detention. The war on immigration turned out to be a war on the American people, waged with roving government agents demanding “papers, please.”

This war on COVID-19 could usher in yet another war on the American people, waged with all of the surveillance weaponry at the government’s disposal: thermal imaging cameras, drones, contact tracing, biometric databases, etc.

Unless we find some way to rein in the government’s power grabs, the fall-out will be epic.

Everything I have warned about for years—government overreach, invasive surveillance, martial law, abuse of powers, militarized police, weaponized technology used to track and control the citizenry, and so on—has coalesced into this present moment.

The government’s shameless exploitation of past national emergencies for its own nefarious purposes pales in comparison to what is presently unfolding.

It’s downright Machiavellian.

Deploying the same strategy it used with 9/11 to acquire greater powers under the USA Patriot Act, the police state—a.k.a. the shadow government, a.k.a. the Deep State—has been anticipating this moment for years, quietly assembling a wish list of lockdown powers that could be trotted out and approved at a moment’s notice.

It should surprise no one, then, that the Trump Administration asked Congress to allow it to suspend parts of the Constitution whenever it deems it necessary during this coronavirus pandemic and “other” emergencies. It’s that “other” emergencies part that should particularly give you pause, if not spur you to immediate action (by action, I mean a loud and vocal, apolitical, nonpartisan outcry and sustained, apolitical, nonpartisan resistance).

In fact, the Department of Justice (DOJ) started to quietly trot out and test a long laundry list of terrifying powers that override the Constitution.

We’re talking about lockdown powers (at both the federal and state level): the ability to suspend the Constitution, indefinitely detain American citizens, bypass the courts, quarantine whole communities or segments of the population, override the First Amendment by outlawing religious gatherings and assemblies of more than a few people, shut down entire industries and manipulate the economy, muzzle dissidents, “stop and seize any plane, train or automobile to stymie the spread of contagious disease,” reshape financial markets, create a digital currency (and thus further restrict the use of cash), determine who should live or die.

These are powers the police state would desperately like to make permanent.

Don’t make the mistake of assuming that anything will change for the better under the Biden administration. That’s not how totalitarian regimes operate.

Bear in mind, however, that the powers the government officially asked Congress to recognize and authorize barely scratch the surface of the far-reaching powers the government has already unilaterally claimed for itself.

Unofficially, the police state has been riding roughshod over the rule of law for years now without any pretense of being reined in or restricted in its power grabs by Congress, the courts or the citizenry.

As David C. Unger, observes in The Emergency State: America’s Pursuit of Absolute Security at All Costs:
“For seven decades we have been yielding our most basic liberties to a secretive, unaccountable emergency state – a vast but increasingly misdirected complex of national security institutions, reflexes, and beliefs that so define our present world that we forget that there was ever a different America. ... Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness have given way to permanent crisis management: to policing the planet and fighting preventative wars of ideological containment, usually on terrain chosen by, and favorable to, our enemies. Limited government and constitutional accountability have been shouldered aside by the kind of imperial presidency our constitutional system was explicitly designed to prevent.”
This rise of an “emergency state” that justifies all manner of government tyranny in the name of so-called national security is all happening according to schedule.

The civil unrest, the national emergencies, “unforeseen economic collapse, loss of functioning political and legal order, purposeful domestic resistance or insurgency, pervasive public health emergencies, and catastrophic natural and human disasters,” the government’s reliance on the armed forces to solve domestic political and social problems, the implicit declaration of martial law packaged as a well-meaning and overriding concern for the nation’s security: the powers-that-be have been planning and preparing for such a crisis for years now, not just with active shooter drills and lockdowns and checkpoints and heightened danger alerts, but with a sensory overload of militarized, battlefield images—in video games, in movies, on the news—that acclimate us to life in a totalitarian regime.

Whether or not this particular crisis is of the government’s own making is not the point: to those for whom power and profit are everything, the end always justifies the means.

The seeds of this present madness were sown several decades ago when George W. Bush stealthily issued two presidential directives that granted the president the power to unilaterally declare a national emergency, which is loosely defined as “any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions.

Comprising the country’s Continuity of Government (COG) plan, these directives, which do not need congressional approval, provide a skeletal outline of the actions the president will take in the event of a “national emergency.”

Mind you, that national emergency can take any form, can be manipulated for any purpose, and can be used to justify any end goal—all on the say so of the president.

Just what sort of actions the president will take once he declares a national emergency can barely be discerned from the barebones directives. However, one thing is clear: in the event of a national emergency, the COG directives give unchecked executive, legislative and judicial power to the executive branch and its unelected minions.

The country would then be subjected to martial law by default, and the Constitution and the Bill of Rights would be suspended.

The emergency state is now out in the open for all to see.

Unfortunately, “we the people” refuse to see what’s before us.

This is how freedom dies.

We erect our own prison walls, and as our rights dwindle away, we forge our own chains of servitude to the police state.

Be warned, however: once you surrender your freedoms to the government—no matter how compelling the reason might be for doing so—you can never get them back.

No government willingly relinquishes power. If we continue down this road, there can be no surprise about what awaits us at the end.

That said, we still have rights. Technically, at least.

We should not voluntarily relinquish every shred of our humanity, our common sense, or our freedoms to a nanny state that thinks it can do a better job of keeping us safe.

The government may act as if its police state powers trump individual liberties during this COVID-19 pandemic, but for all intents and purposes, the Constitution—especially the battered, besieged Bill of Rights—still stands in theory, if not in practice.

The decisions we make right now—about freedom, commerce, free will, how we care for the least of these in our communities, what it means to provide individuals and businesses with a safety net, how far we allow the government to go in “protecting” us against this virus, etc.—will haunt us for a long time to come.

At times like these, when emotions are heightened, fear dominates, common sense is in short supply, liberty takes a backseat to public safety, and democratic societies approach the tipping point towards mob rule, there is a tendency to cast those who exercise their individual freedoms (to freely speak, associate, assemble, protest, pursue a living, engage in commerce, etc.) as foolishly reckless, criminally selfish, outright villains or so-called “extremists.”

Sometimes that is true, but not always.

There is always a balancing test between individual freedoms and the communal good.

What we must figure out is how to strike a balance that allows us to protect those who need protecting without leaving us chained and in bondage to the police state.

Blindly following the path of least resistance—acquiescing without question to whatever the government dictates—can only lead to more misery, suffering and the erection of a totalitarian regime in which there is no balance.

Whatever we give up willingly now—whether it’s basic human decency, the ability to manage our private affairs, the right to have a say in how the government navigates this crisis, or the few rights still left to us that haven’t been disemboweled in recent years by a power-hungry police state—we won’t get back so easily once this crisis is past.

As I make clear in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People, the government never cedes power willingly. Neither should we.

A year ago, I warned that this was a test to see whether the Constitution—and our commitment to the principles enshrined in the Bill of Rights—can survive a national crisis and true state of emergency.

Nothing has changed on that front.

James Madison, the “father” of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights and the fourth president of the United States, once advised that we should “take alarm at the first experiment upon our liberties.”

These COVID-19 restrictions are far from the first experiment on our liberties. Yet if “we the people” continue to allow the government to trample our rights in the name of so-called national security, we can be assured that things will get worse, not better.

HUGE pollution issue: You won’t BELIEVE how many face masks are being thrown away every minute, according to experts
by: Sara Middleton, staff writer | March 27, 2021

(NaturalHealth365) Remember when there was a worldwide call-to-action to stop using plastic straws lest we seriously harm the environment? Restaurants stopped providing them to customers, companies, and entrepreneurs making reusable and sustainable straws made millions, and environmental awareness campaigns to create “strawless oceans” skyrocketed.

Sadly, it seems possible that whatever progress was made for this environmental cause may have been completely wiped out thanks to the insane pollution by the 2020s’ version of the plastic straw problem – disposable face masks.

“The next plastic problem:” Scientists warn of dire consequences on environment of rampant face mask use
According to the organization Strawless Ocean, there will be more plastic in the ocean by weight than fish in 2050. And even before COVID-19, more than 300 million tons of plastics were being produced annually, most of which ends up in the environment as pollution waste.

According to several studies, this sad state of pollution is being accelerated by the widespread use of face masks during the current pandemic. In fact, a new paper published in Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering cites research that estimates that three million face masks are throw in the trash every minute across the globe – that’s equivalent to about 129 billion face masks per month.

Where do all these face masks go? Among other places, straight into our oceans.

“With increasing reports on inappropriate disposal of masks,” the authors of the newly printed paper warn, “it is urgent to recognize this potential environmental threat and prevent it from becoming the next plastic problem.”

This is what happens when face masks end up in the environment
In their paper, the team of researchers, who hail from both Princeton and the University of Southern Denmark, note that disposable face masks are not biodegradable and contain minuscule plastic fibers, microplastics, and nanonplastics. Once these masks are thrown away and end up in the environment, masks are exposed to solar radiation and heat and start to break down to some degree. However, the degradation of plastics within the masks is slow to virtually non-existent – causing them to accumulate in our soil and water.

And while there’s not enough data about the true impact of these masks on the environment yet, the researchers strongly suspect that the rampant use of disposable face masks are causing harmful biological and chemical substances to spread and pose health hazards to animals, humans, and the ecosystem.

The thing is, nobody is talking about how to throw these face masks away (unlike the case for plastic water bottles and single-use plastic bags). So, what can people do? Here are a few suggestions to keep in mind and help reduce your impact:

  • Contact your elected representatives to raise awareness about the need for standard guidelines or protocols on how to handle mask waste
  • Encourage your local officials to establish “mask-only” trash cans
  • If you are using face masks, consider using a reusable cloth one (although assuming they actually do help slow the spread of COVID-19, know that cloth masks are less effective than surgical face masks or N95 respirators, especially when worn, don, or doffed incorrectly)
  • Support inventors who are looking into the development of biodegradable disposal masks
Bottom line: no matter what side you take on the issue of wearing a face mask … the pollution problem is one we all must try to address in the best way possible. Any thoughts? (post your comments below)

Dartmouth-Brown Study Documents Media's Stoking "Vicious Circle Of Fear" On COVID

SUNDAY, MAR 28, 2021 - 02:30 PM
Authored by Brian McGlinchey via Stark Realities,

If you’ve felt the media has heavily emphasized bad news throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, your judgment now has some scholarly corroboration. Dartmouth College and Brown University researchers have analyzed tens of thousands of Covid-19 articles and found major US media outlets have overwhelmingly pushed negative narratives about the virus.

"The most striking fact is that 87 percent of the U.S. stories are classified as negative, whereas 51 percent of the non-US stories are classified as negative," according to the study by Dartmouth economics professor Bruce Sacerdote, Dartmouth’s Ranjan Sehgal and Brown University’s Molly Cook.

Thwarting Public Clarity About Covid-19
Though the study doesn’t delve deep into the societal implications, there’s little doubt excessive media negativity has contributed to public misunderstanding of the nature of the disease and the actual risk it poses to various segments of society.

Consider one of study’s most glaring findings: Even when Covid-19 cases were falling nationally between April 24 and June 27, major media discussed rising caseloads 5.3 times as frequently as falling ones.

The impact was evident: A June CBS News poll found a record number of Americans felt the fight against coronavirus was going badly. Of course, news of the poll was itself another negative story, feeding a media-facilitated vicious circle of fear.

In July, a Franklin Templeton-Gallup poll found Americans had a poor understanding of the risk of Covid-19 death for different age cohorts:
  • Participants said people aged 55+ accounted for a little over half of the deaths, when the actual share was 92%.
  • Those under age 25 accounted for just 0.2% of deaths—participants overestimated the share by a factor of 50.
The results aren’t surprising, given the media’s compulsion to report rare occasions when teens and twentysomethings do fall victim to the virus.

In June, CNN served up a particularly flagrant example of Covid scaremongering: an article titled Healthy teenager who took precautions died suddenly of Covid-19.

The many who skimmed the headline received an anecdotal infusion of fearful misinformation. The minority who made it to the tenth paragraph would finally learn that doctors treating the purportedly "healthy" yet visibly obese teen found he had Type 1 diabetes with a blood sugar level 10 times the norm.

Two months earlier, the Centers for Disease Control announced that about 90% of those hospitalized with the virus had one or more underlying conditions. Among the most common were obesity (48%) and diabetes (28%). Rather than using this teen’s grim story to enlighten the public about who is at greatest risk, CNN aggressively pushed a perception that nobody is safe.

The media’s failure to foster understanding of Covid-19 also seems evident in the many people still seen today wearing masks while alone outdoors. According to Dr. Muge Cevik, an infectious diseases and virology scientist at the University of St Andrews, "outdoor risk is negligible unless it involves close interaction or you are in a crowded or semi-outdoor environment."

Perceptions of the Virus Influence Policy Opinions
Overly-negative Covid-19 reporting has implications well beyond individual feelings and practices: Those who’ve been led to an exaggerated perception of their personal risk are more prone to supporting strict government policies to counter the virus.

A Pew Research poll released earlier this month confirms that individuals’ perception of the pandemic heavily influences their opinions about various government interventions.

For example, Pew asked if limiting restaurants to carry-out service has been necessary to counter the virus. Among those who think Covid-19 represents a minor threat to the U.S. population, 21% agreed. Support soars to 66% among those who deem the virus a major threat.

Many are likely opining from a position of ignorance: How many know that a New York contact tracing study attributed less than 2% of Covid-19 case transmission to bars and restaurants? (Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any polls that test Americans’ understanding of the virus other than the earlier-referenced Franklin Templeton-Gallup poll.)

Negative About Positives
The Dartmouth and Brown researchers found "the negativity of the U.S. major media is notable even in areas with positive developments, including school re-openings and vaccine trials."

When schools reopen to in-person teaching—a move validated by the experience of European schools—U.S. media has been quick on the scene with a wet blanket: The study found 86% of US mainstream media articles about school reopenings are negative.

The easing of government restrictions reliably attracts negative media. Iowa governor Kim Reynolds’s lifting of the state’s mask mandate in early February sparked a wave of negative reporting and opinion pieces, and the Washington Post actually ran a piece titled "Welcome to Iowa: a state that doesn’t care if you live or die."

In September, similar derision was heaped on Florida governor Ron DeSantis when he lifted major statewide restrictions. However, when neither Florida nor Iowa experienced negative consequences, there was little media reporting of the good news that government restrictions and mandates may not be so necessary after all.

We see a similar pattern with the media’s never-ending cycle of warning that various holidays and special events will bring a surge in contagion. From Thanksgiving to Christmas to the Super Bowl and spring break, we’re constantly presented headlines stoking fears these occasions will cause major virus spikes.

When predicted surges don’t happen, the media gives little attention to the happy news that their alarms proved false. Instead, they’re apparently hard at work drafting warnings about whatever’s next on the calendar.

It’s as if mainstream journalists feel duty-bound to stoke Covid-19 fear, while paternalistically shielding us from welcome facts that could lead us to "let our guard down." In doing so, they negligently disregard the collateral harm they do to mental health and our quality of life.

Hope for Greater Media Balance?
The Dartmouth-Brown study on U.S. media negativity prompted The New York Times’ David Leonhardt to call for introspection: "If we’re constantly telling a negative story, we are not giving our audience the most accurate portrait of reality. We are shading it."

That’s a welcome acknowledgment: Until recently, Leonhardt’s own Times email newsletter has mirrored the negative slant found across U.S. media.

There are hints of a growing balance. For example, in recent weeks, major outlets have finally started acknowledging that Florida’s post-reopening experience conflicts with the media-reinforced notion that shutdowns are an essential counter-virus strategy.

Concluding his review of the study, Leonhardt expressed gratitude to researchers Sacerdote, Cook and Sehgal for "holding up a mirror to our work and giving us a chance to do better."

Let’s hope his sentiment proves highly contagious.

BREAKING: Biden Administration Set to Launch COVID Passport That Would Track Americans Who Have Taken Vaccines
by Kyle Beckerabout an hour ago
BIDENHARRISMASK-758x396.jpg

The Biden administration is set to launch a COVID passport that would track Americans that took the vaccine, despite warnings by civil rights advocates.

“The Biden administration and private companies are working to develop a standard way of handling credentials — often referred to as ‘vaccine passports’ — that would allow Americans to prove they have been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus as businesses try to reopen,” the Washington Post reported on Sunday.

“The effort has gained momentum amid President Biden’s pledge that the nation will start to regain normalcy this summer and with a growing number of companies — from cruise lines to sports teams — saying they will require proof of vaccination before opening their doors again,” the report continued.

“The administration’s initiative has been driven largely by arms of the Department of Health and Human Services, including an office devoted to health information technology, said five officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the effort,” the report added.

“Our role is to help ensure that any solutions in this area should be simple, free, open source, accessible to people both digitally and on paper, and designed from the start to protect people’s privacy,” the administration’s coronavirus coordinator Zients said at a March 12 briefing. The Biden White House refused to go on the record about the COVID passports.

TRACKER.jpg

“The initiative has emerged as an early test of the Biden administration, with officials working to coordinate across dozens of agencies and a variety of experts, including military officials helping administer vaccines and health officials engaging in international vaccine efforts,” the Washington Post report noted.

New York launched its COVID passport on Friday, following a trial run on thousands of New Yorkers testing the program. The Excelsior Passport is “the first of its kind to be rolled out in United States and allows specific sites that administer COVID vaccines or test for the coronavirus to upload the data to the app,” the Gothamist reported.
The Washington Post published an opinion editorial by Shannon McMahon in January arguing against such COVID “passports” for travel.

“While vaccination requirements seem to be prioritizing people’s health, an increasing number of health experts and tourism officials are saying vaccine passports should not be made mandatory for international travel any time soon because of short supply of doses and potential lapses in the amount of protection vaccines provide; current health measures like testing and quarantines, they say, should stay for vaccinated people,” McMahon wrote. “And the World Health Organization recently said that it opposes vaccine requirements for travel because of equity issues in the current state of the global vaccine rollout.”

According to the CDC, both the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths with the virus has continued to plummet in recent weeks.

On TB every waking moment

The White House is eyeing conservatives for their next vaccine advocacy push amid concerns that many people may choose to forgo a shot, with plans for messengers who may be better equipped to speak directly to concerns from many people in red states.

But don’t expect President Joe Biden to put his stamp on it. And with the White House wary of squandering an opportunity to reach people while demand still outstrips supply, don’t expect the full rollout yet.

“The most important thing is to time this at a moment when we're not getting people to come to take the shot, and then, there's not a shot for them,” one White House official told the Washington Examiner.

Asked about the timing, this person said that it “would be in tune with when we're in a place where you're not hearing every one of the 50 states ask for more [vaccine] supply.”

The White House is working with outside groups, including one advised by several top officials from the Trump administration, including Seema Verma, who led the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services under the last administration, and the former head of President Donald Trump’s Domestic Policy Council, Joe Grogan.

“Americans and conservatives aren't a monolithic group,” said John Bridgeland, a Republican and veteran of the George W. Bush and Barack Obama administrations, whose bipartisan COVID Collaborative is advising Biden’s team on how to overcome conservative hesitancy about the vaccine.

Bridgeland pointed to recent polling by his team showing that 41% of conservatives say they do not plan to get a COVID-19 vaccine, compared to 34% of moderates and 14% of liberals.

“Another survey that wasn’t ours showed that 56% of Republicans say they won't take the COVID vaccine or are undecided,” he added.

Bridgeland characterized a tiered effort for hesitant communities that aims to depoliticize the shot by connecting with people through faith- and community-based outreach, sports leagues, and other powerful institutions and intermediaries, as well as bringing together high-profile leaders across the political aisle.

The group is working with NASCAR, for instance, which reaches millions of people, including lots of conservatives, Bridgeland said.

“We, the country and individuals, don't need the confusion of politics interjected into what is a public health inquiry,” he said, explaining the rationale behind a public service advertisement from the Ad Council featuring four former presidents, not including Trump.

Once they learned that Trump had gotten the shot, they reached out to his staff to suggest that he speak to his supporters, and they were “thrilled” when he went on Fox News to encourage others to get it too. The former president also told his supporters they should be inoculated during remarks late last month at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Public service advertisements are trickling out.

A White House effort featuring the stars of Deadliest Catch, a top cable show, began airing in February on the Discovery Channel. The Ad Council’s spot with former presidents Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Obama, and Bush has also circulated, as has a brand new one featuring a montage of athletes across different sports leagues and organizations, NASCAR among them.

The ads do not solely target conservatives, whom recent surveys show are among the most hesitant to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. The same was true of black and Hispanic Americans last year, but robust outreach by the White House means ethnic and racial minorities are now as likely as white Americans to get the jab.

Biden has said that he is aiming for widespread vaccine eligibility by May 1 and for as many people as possible to be vaccinated thereafter. Hesitancy throws a wrench in this.

"Most of them"
According to surveys, trust in the vaccine, health officials, and crucially, the government, stand in the way of widespread adoption. The more the jab appears politicized, the more averse people become.

The White House is aware of this, with press secretary Jen Psaki conceding to reporters that the Biden administration “may not be the most effective messenger to communicate with hardcore supporters of the former president.”

Whether Trump could and should do more is a matter of debate.

Press secretary Jen Psaki noted that “every other living former president, or most of them, if not all of them, has participated in public campaigns” and “did not need an engraved invitation to do so.” Anthony Fauci, the federal government's top infectious disease official who has clashed with Trump, urged the former president to speak out in favor of the shots.

Biden has taken a different tack, stating that “the thing that has more impact than anything Trump would say to the MAGA folks is what the local doctor, what the local preachers, what the local people in the community would say.”

Surveys appear to support Biden’s take, but either way, Trump has no intention of participating in a public service announcement, a source close to the former president said.

The West Wing’s effort to engage NASCAR, within the ad and in outreach from drivers, wades squarely into Trumpworld.

Trump memorably took a lap around the Daytona 500 track in a limousine last year. A few months later, a car with a "Trump 2020" paint scheme made its debut at the Brickyard 400, sponsored by a political action committee hoping to reach unregistered voters, which they estimated at about one-fifth of NASCAR’s 75 million fans.

Still, for the campaign to succeed, the organizer may wish to find ways to distance the message from the White House, “as many NASCAR fans still hold strong antipathy toward the Biden presidency and the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention],” the nation’s top public health agency, said Joshua Newman, a professor of sport, media, and cultural studies at Florida State University. “In other words, they should focus on the message instead of the messenger.”

Biden said Thursday he is targeting a goal of 200 million shots into arms during his first 100 days, doubling the goal he set when he came into office.

But without sufficient demand, the United States could be the place for a “perfect storm” of new coronavirus cases as social activity picks up, according to a report by the nonpartisan Penn Wharton Budget Model.

"If all eligible US residents are vaccinated in 2021, we project that the pandemic will effectively be over by the fall," researchers Alex Arnon and John Ricco write. "Differences in the vaccine take-up rate lead to large differences in the state of the economy at the end of 2021."

This is a concern for the administration, which hopes to reach herd immunity as quickly as possible and has been scouring data for how best to address this.

A focus group convened this month by pollster Frank Luntz brought together 19 Trump voters who said they would "maybe" or "probably not" get a coronavirus vaccine. These were not "anti-vaxxers" — they had received common vaccines for measles, polio, or hepatitis in the past, but 12 of them said they fear the vaccination more than the virus. Eleven of the 19 said they distrust the CDC.

To test different messages, Luntz brought in prominent Republicans, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Former CDC Director Tom Frieden also joined the group.

Politicians, Trump included, are ineffective messengers, they learned, with the panel revealing a pronounced mistrust for political leaders and the government.

"Conservatives want an unfiltered view of the science, the facts, the data, all the empirical evidence that’s out there on the virus to really come to their own conclusions," said Daniel Siegel, who has overseen Luntz's research on vaccine hesitation among conservatives.

Health providers and doctors were viewed as among the most credible sources, with some exceptions.

The group heaped criticism on Dr. Anthony Fauci, a top infectious disease expert who sparred with Trump while advising the White House's coronavirus response, calling him a “liar,” a “flip-flopper,” and “opportunistic.”

A public service advertisement from the same group that made the new NASCAR and sports-focused ad featuring former presidents Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Bush, and Obama was labeled “propaganda” by one participant. Another called the former presidents “bad actors.”

“It actually kind of annoys me,” one voter said.

While the White House has not reached out to Luntz directly, West Wing officials have circulated the findings.

Red-state vaccine advocates told the Washington Examiner that they would welcome the engagement.

"Political baggage"
In West Virginia, Teresa Tyson runs the Health Wagon, which provides care for the uninsured in rural Appalachia, where she has had access to the COVID-19 shots since only three weeks ago.

Tyson said that while some patients are initially skeptical, this is overcome by talking through the issues. Only one member of her staff refused the vaccine, stating that she had antibodies from catching the virus earlier in the year.

Tyson said that a major impediment was the supply of vaccines needed: Her mobile clinic didn't receive doses until three weeks ago, prior to which vaccine-eligible patients would have had to travel hours to get the shot.

She said she reached out by email to Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith, who leads the Biden administration's COVID-19 health equity task force, for assistance scoring the vaccine for her vulnerable patient population but never received a response.

The perception among some is that red states and conservatives have been left behind in Biden’s “war-footing” to beat the virus.

“I would love to see more of an investment in the Appalachian region,” Tyson said, adding that for winning the persuasion game, “nothing tops taking it out into the community.”

Republicans on Capitol Hill said there had not been any meaningful outreach to their offices.

A senior Republican aide said the White House has made no attempt to reach conservatives in Congress beyond rote "blanket phone calls" to lawmakers, including doctors who are dealing directly with the hesitancy issue in their home states.

"There needs to be a big push to put the kinds of doctors who are actually seeing patients and administering the vaccine to people in front of this group and not, you know, Dr. Fauci, or people with political baggage," the aide said.

Could an antiviral medication called Molnupiravir eliminate SARS-CoV2 from an infected person's nose and throat?

This oral medication, taken twice a day for five days, was initially developed to treat influenza. Molnupiravir seems to also be effective against SARS-CoV-2.

A phase 2a study has recently been completed. It enrolled 202 non-hospitalized adults with signs and symptoms of COVID 19 and confirmed infection. At baseline, 42% of participants had detectable levels of SARS-CoV-2 virus when cultured.

The study had three treatment groups' arms, taking 200 mg, 400 mg, and 800 mg of Molnupiravir, respectively, and a control group. Participants' noses were swabbed on days 3,5,7,14, and 28.

A reduction in SARS-CoV-2 was noted in all treatment groups but was only significant in the 800 mg group. A much larger phase 3 trial is underway with 1300 participants.

Molnupiravir works by introducing copying errors when viral RNA replicates. Like DNA, RNA comprises four different nucleotides: adenine, cytosine, guanine, and uracil.

Molnupirivir exists in two forms. In one form, it mimics cytosine, and in the other form, it mimics uracil. When SARS-CoV2 grows in this drug's presence, its RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (the enzyme that reads RNA) reads cytosine as uracil and puts the wrong nucleoside in the RNA sequence.

This misreading creates a massive number of mutations in the viral genome, rendering the new RNA useless.

Molnupiravir was originally developed at Emory University and was later acquired by Miami-based Ridgeback biotherapeutics, who later partnered with Merck & Co to develop it further. In April 2020, a whistleblower complaint by a former head of BARDA, Rick Bright, expressed concerns that similar drugs could damage DNA.

Bright notes in his complaint that "similar experimental drugs in this class had been shown to cause reproductive toxicity in animals, and offspring from treated animals had been born without teeth and without parts of their skulls."

George Painter, CEO of Drug Innovation Ventures at Emory (DRIVE), replied, "We haven't seen robust evidence for any sort of mutagenicity as had been seen in the past [by Schinazi and others]."

In the phase 2A clinical trial, seven participants discontinued treatment though only four experienced adverse events, none of which were considered related to Molnupiravir. The trial is still blinded, so what the exact adverse events were is not known.

Several other antiviral drugs for COVID are in development, like Upamostat (RHB-107), AT-527, and favipiravir.

And what about COVID Prophylactic drugs?

Let's say you are exposed to someone with COVID. Is there a post-exposure prophylactic drug you can take?

In December 2020, researchers at Georgia State University published a study in Nature Microbiology that showed that giving Molnupiravir to ferrets infected with SARS-CoV-2 prevented transmission to uninfected ferrets housed in the same cage. So this is great news for ferrets. Human trials should be coming soon.

What about another treatment option for COVID 19 that must also be given early in the illness, monoclonal antibodies?

SARS-CoV-2 uses a spike protein to attach to the ACE-2 receptor and then enter human cells. Monoclonal antibodies bind to a specific protein surface, meaning antigens. These monoclonal antibodies bind to the spike protein of the virus, preventing it from invading human cells, and at the same time, it tags it to let the immune cells know that it can destroy it.

Monoclonal antibodies can be produced by exposing a mouse or a hamster to an antigen, and the antibodies made are collected.

Today antibodies can be made in the lab and are used to treat nearly 100 conditions, including cancer and autoimmune disorders.

The monoclonal antibodies used to treat COVID 19 include Regeneron's clone of an antibody harvested from a person who recovered from COVID 19 and an antibody harvested from a genetically modified mouse engineered to have a human immune system.

Eli Lilly's monoclonal antibody Bamlanivamab was identified in a blood sample from a patient who recovered from COVID 19.

Clinical trials show that monoclonal antibodies can prevent deaths and hospitalizations in people with mild to moderate COVID 19 who are at risk of severe disease.

A study of VIR-7831, a product made by VIR and GSK, reduced the chances of hospitalization or death by 85%. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 study showed a cocktail of two antibodies- Bamlanivimab and Etesevimab, both made by Eli Lilly, cut the risk of hospitalization death by 87%.

Evening news, Dr. Birx said something about after the first 100,000 nobody had to die. There was nothing from her after that, end of the sound byte. I’m sure I’m not quoting her accurately. There was certainly nothing about HCQ or IVM said, which is what I would want to hear.
Any ideas, heard anything else from her?

Biden Admin Working to Launch “Vaccine Passports” so Americans Can Prove They’ve Been Inoculated, Return to Normalcy

We knew this was coming.

The Biden Administration is now working to launch “vaccine passports” so Americans can prove they’ve been inoculated.

The vaccine passports will be the key to returning to normalcy and may actually control who is allowed to participate in the workforce.

The Washington Post first reported on Sunday that the Biden Administration is coordinating with multiple government agencies in developing a system that would impact many aspects of life.

The Post, citing five officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity, reported the effort “has been driven largely by arms of the Department of Health and Human Services, including an office devoted to health information technology.”

Via CNN-Wire:
The Biden administration is currently working to develop a system for people to prove they’ve been vaccinated against the coronavirus, according to a senior administration official.
President Joe Biden has predicted that life in the US could be back to normal by Christmas, and as more Americans are vaccinated each day, these vaccine credentials — commonly called “vaccine passports” — could be key to a return to normalcy by the end of the year.
White House coronavirus coordinator Jeff Zients has led the White House’s role in coordinating the project, an official told the Post.
“Our role is to help ensure that any solutions in this area should be simple, free, open source, accessible to people both digitally and on paper, and designed from the start to protect people’s privacy,” Zients said earlier this month, according to the newspaper.

But part of ensuring wide usage for vaccine passports is accounting for the large subset of the global population that still doesn’t use or have access to smartphones.
A few companies within the Covid-19 Credentials Initiative are also developing a smart card that strikes a middle ground between the traditional paper vaccine certificates and an online version that’s easier to store and reproduce.

“Right Now I’m Scared” – CDC Director Warns of “Impending Doom” with Covid Case Trajectory (VIDEO)

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky on Monday warned that she felt “impending doom” with the Covid case trajectory.

The US is currently recording a weekly average of approximately 63,000 Covid cases per day, a slight increase from last week.

The CDC Director said when cases rise, they often “surge and surge big.”

“We have so much to look forward to, so much promise and potential…and so much reason for hope, but right now I’m scared,” Walensky said of a virus with a 99.98% survival rate.

Millions of Americans have either been vaccinated or have been infected with Covid, but the government continues to fearmonger because they don’t want to lose their power.

The real impending doom Walensky feels is the idea of Americans going back to normal and rejecting authoritarian lockdown orders.

"Right Now I'm Scared" - CDC Director Chokes Back Tears As She Fearmongers "Impending Doom"

MONDAY, MAR 29, 2021 - 11:38 AM
In a stunningly emotional outburst during this morning's COVID-19 Response press conference, new CDC Director Rochelle Walensky went "off-script" (though if one watches here eyes it appears she is very much reading a script) to warn the public about her "impending doom" following a rise in COVID cases and hospitalizations.

The seven-day average of hospital admissions with confirmed or suspected Covid-19 increased in 25 states plus the nation’s capital and Puerto Rico last week, compared with same period a week earlier, according to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services data through Saturday.

The most dramatic surge has come in Michigan, with admissions up 50%, to an average of 379 a day. The next-worst momentum was in South Dakota, where daily admissions rose by 40% to an average of 28.
“I'm going to reflect on the recurring feeling I have of impending doom," Walensky said, appearing to hold back tears.
"We do not have the luxury of inaction. For the health of our country, we must work together now to prevent a fourth surge."

"Right now, I'm scared," Walesky exclaimed.

Here is what Walensky is freaking out about... (could that simply be a rise in testing around Spring Break as responsible Americans check their health before traveling? Or is it remnants of the vaccines being picked up by the RT-PCR tests being run at 35 Ct?)

Of course, Fauci knows why:
"I think the reason we’re seeing this plateauing and the increase that I hope doesn’t turn into a surge is because we are really doing things prematurely right now with regard to opening up."
Walensky implored Americans to mask up, socially distance, etc., etc. as she is worried about a new wave "if rules are lifted" too soon...
“I’m speaking today not necessarily as your CDC director, but as a wife, as a mother, as a daughter to ask you to just please hold on a little while longer,"

Finally, just in case you were wondering, here's what is happening in Texas since all those federally-mandated restrictions were lifted...

Source: Bloomberg

As we previously noted, on Saturday, Texas’ seven-day Covid positivity rate reached an all-time low of 5.27%, while hospitalisations fell to their lowest level since October, according to the latest state data. The state recorded 2,292 new coronavirus cases, about 500 fewer on average from last week, and 107 new deaths. The number of people hospitalised with coronavirus, meanwhile, dipped to 3,308.

In other words, lifting the mask mandate and re-opening the state did not lead to the health catastrophe predicted by all the 'experts', in fact the opposite happened.

Walensky's level of fearmongering is disgusting and disingenuous and the American people are growing more and more insensitive to such evocations. Walensky said she is speaking with governors tomorrow to address the rise in cases.
"We’re essentially pleading with people even though we have an urge particularly with the warm weather to just cut loose," NIAID director Anthony Fauci said.
Does the Biden administration really need to fearmonger about COVID to such a degree to distract from the border crisis?
