So I learned today from our local health inspector that my Town has one of the highest case count per capita in the State. Wonderful....My husbands boss and his wife think they have it but can’t get tested even though he is a supervisor and some of the guys including my husband have been at least in some contact with him...and he has been in a few People’s houses helping with service calls. The CDC told him that unless he has a fever of 101 for 3 days he doesn’t get a test.

Trump was really going after Acosta about mask shortages and lack of testing, ppe etcTrump says there No shortages of any of this stuff anywhere in the USA and NO shortages of hospital beds or respirators also. Trump also stopped fausi from coming to the podium when dr. Brix yielded to fausi by walking up and saying two more questions. There is definitely something going on between Trump and fausi, even though Trump praises both him and brix. Trump says he has since many respirators he will send 10,000 to mexico or spain. I have no idea why Trump is saying everybody has everything they need.

Because it's true?

Thought the state(s) had control of testing. Asymptomatic people are more likely to spread the infection because they do not realize the need to self-quarentine.

I think Ecquador confirms my statement that New York city would eventually start loading garbage barges. Nee york city maintained a minimal level of control so they just did a dig and dump on Harts island. Ecquador is in total chaos so we will eventually see carts with bodies piled on them. MEDIEVAL LEVEL. THIS IS WHY THEY CALL IT A GLOBAL PANDEMIC. THE GLOBAL TPTAL IS 100,000 AND ROARING RIGHT ALONG MTOWARDS 500,000.

You're a starry-eyed optimist, and I never thought I'd say that.

Yeah. As I've constantly ranted (Troke's influence, there...) there is a major difference between 'Acknowledged' and 'actual' cases.

And, we may never know with certainty how different that might be.

Not only is it not true, it is a gott damn lie. I know this from boots on the ground in the local hospital. Also, that the State EMA is stealing them from the hospitals to give out to LEO's and EMS staff. The State is lying about it all too. Bastards. All of them.

Indiana... Carmel in Hamilton County. Long article so I snipped the symptom parts. He does a good 4 minute video.

'Sick as I had ever felt': Indiana first responders adjust as some start to get COVID-19
Kaitlin Lange, Indianapolis StarPublished 8:00 a.m. ET April 9, 2020 | Updated 9:45 a.m. ET April 9, 2020
...
Across the state, first responders are starting to get sick even as agencies strengthen precautions. In Indianapolis, where the number of coronavirus cases are in the thousands, at least 17 police officers, 14 firefighters and six emergency medical service providers have tested positive for COVID-19.

Kevin Young is one of at least six Carmel firefighters who have tested positive. At least two Carmel police officers have, too. Fishers, Noblesville and Lake County also have had positive cases.

'Sick as I had ever felt'
On March 19, Young took his temperature just before he got off at 7 a.m., and it was normal. Later that day, he had a fever.

Within a day he went to get tested, and by March 23, he knew he was positive for COVID-19.

His symptoms had progressed over the weekend. Back pain turned into full body aches. His fever got more severe. He had aches, a cough, pain during deep breaths and when he coughed, bone and joint pain, sweating, chills and swollen eyes.

"By Monday afternoon, I was feeling as sick as I had ever felt in my entire life," Young said.

At night, it was worse. Mentally that took a toll on Young as he agonized every day over the pain he would feel when the sun went down. He started sleeping during the day and staying awake at night so he could sit upright when the symptoms were at their worst.

On March 24, Young decided to ask his department to drop off a pulse oximeter, which is used to test oxygen levels.

"As a paramedic, I knew how to judge symptoms were getting bad," Young said. After Young had a coughing fit that evening, his wife measured his oxygen levels, and they came to a realization: He couldn't do this at home. He took an ambulance to the hospital and was admitted for two nights, while his wife stayed at home with the children.

"I had a lot of faith that he would be OK and that he would pull through," said his wife, Tiffany Young. "But there's always that fear in the back of your mind of what if. I couldn’t focus on that."

Kevin Young is back home and fever free now, but he still occasionally has to use oxygen to help with his breathing. He is eager to be healthy and get back to work.

"I'm going to use some of this information when I get back to work. It's supposed to be peaking," Young said. "I will be back to work to deal with the onslaught."

Donated medical supplies are the artillery in the ‘Chinese propaganda war’ [Australia]
•Apr 10, 2020

Sky News Australia
Former Speaker of the House Bronwyn Bishop the cargo says the “flight from Wuhan is part of a propaganda war” that is being waged by China regarding the origins of the coronavirus crisis. A freight aircraft from Wuhan arrived in Sydney on Wednesday evening carrying 90 tonnes of protective masks, gowns and ventilators. According to Ms Bishop, “the Chinese let that virus out, brought the free world to its knees and now are going around saying they are a superior system of government, have cleaned up the problem in China and now are going out to help the rest of the world having done the damage in the first place”. “So now we are not only fighting the disease that came out of Wuhan, courtesy of the communist party of China, but we are now having to fight a propaganda war as well,” Ms Bishop told Sky News host Gary Hardgrave.

Apple and Google announced a partnership Friday to try to use technology to trace the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The two companies, usually fierce rivals, said they would work together in the coming weeks to build new tools that would enable people and health authorities to track the virus using Bluetooth proximity data from their smartphones.

“We hope to harness the power of technology to help countries around the world slow the spread of COVID-19 and accelerate the return of everyday life,” the two companies said in a rare joint statement.

Outside experts had been pleading with the two companies to join forces in just such an effort because of their unique position controlling the operating systems for the vast majority of the phones in the U.S. and Europe.

The companies said they plan to openly publish information about their work for others to analyze, and they began Friday by releasing some draft materials.

“Privacy, transparency, and consent are of utmost importance in this effort, and we look forward to building this functionality in consultation with interested stakeholders,” they said in their statement.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom said his office spoke Friday with Apple about the tracing technology and is making it a part of the state’s planning for easing out of its statewide stay-at-home order.

Google and Apple said their work would come in two stages. In the first stage, next month, they plan to release a set of tools known as application programming interfaces (APIs) so that apps created by public health authorities could work on both iPhones and on phones that run Google’s Android operating system.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has announced that 83 patients at a nursing facility in Texas City, Texas, have tested positive for coronavirus, and 30 of those are being administered the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine.

“As of today, about 30 patients are being tested with the hydroxychloroquine to determine whether it will be a successful treatment for the patients,” Abbott said on Monday. “They are in the second day of this testing regimen that will last several more days.”

“We look forward to updating you as the week progresses about how this drug is aiding or not these patients,” Abbott said.

One of those patients is 90-year-old Dorothy Cunningham.
“That’s my granny,” Alecia Mason said in a KHOU11 article:
Mason says her grandmother isn’t experiencing major symptoms at this point. She and her family worry about what effect this unproven drug may have on her grandmother.
The Galveston County Health District confirmed they did not request this treatment for these 30 patients. That request came from the nursing home and medical director Robin Armstrong.
The Galveston County Health District said 146 people associated with the nursing home were tested; 83 of those cases came back positive and the rest were negative.
A KHOU11 reporter tweeted about the story:

Donald Trump Announces ‘Opening the Country Council’ for Restarting Economy
White House

CHARLIE SPIERING10 Apr 2020350

President Donald Trump on Friday at the White House announced that he would draft an economic advisory council focused on reopening the country.

“I call it the ‘opening of the country council,’ so we don’t get it confused with Mike’s task force, which has done so great,” he said, referring to Vice President Mike Pence’s coronavirus task force.

The president said that he would put doctors, business leaders, and other advisers on the council to help him decide when was the best time to allow Americans to go back to work.

“I’m going to surround myself with the greatest minds,” Trump said. “We’re going to make a decision.”

When a reporter asked him what metrics he would use to make the decision, Trump replied, “The metrics right here” and pointed at his head.

Trump said it was the biggest decision of his life, and he took it very seriously.
“I only hope to God that it’s the right decision,” he said.

The president said he would likely conduct the council with teleconferencing, to keep people from traveling and spreading the virus.

“I don’t think it would look good,” Trump said.

The president said he would consider adding even Democrats to his proposed council, noting that he had great relationships with some of the Democrat governors fighting the virus in their states.

“It’ll be based on the input from a lot of talented people, very smart people, and people that love our country,” he said.

In essence, the virus stops the delivery and distribution of oxygen via hemoglobin, and the scrubbing of CO2 from the body. Intubation with high pressure O2 would be ineffective if the body cannot distribute the oxygen.

"According to the validation analysis of these finds, chloroquine could prevent orf1ab, ORF3a, and ORF10 to attack the heme to form the porphyrin, and inhibit the binding of ORF8 and surface glycoproteins to porphyrins to a certain extent, effectively relieve the symptoms of respiratory distress. Favipiravir could inhibit the envelope protein and ORF7a protein bind to porphyrin, prevent the virus from entering host cells, and catching free porphyrins."

Abstract
The novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) is an infectious acute respiratory infection caused by the novel coronavirus. The virus is a positive-strand RNA virus with high homology to bat coronavirus.

In this study, conserved domain analysis, homology modeling, and molecular docking were used to compare the biological roles of certain proteins of the novel coronavirus.

The results showed the ORF8 and surface glycoprotein could bind to the porphyrin, respectively. At the same time, orf1ab, ORF10, and ORF3a proteins could coordinate attack the heme on the 1-beta chain of hemoglobin to dissociate the iron to form the porphyrin.

The attack will cause less and less hemoglobin that can carry oxygen and carbon dioxide. The lung cells have extremely intense poisoning and inflammatory due to the inability to exchange carbon dioxide and oxygen frequently, which eventually results in ground-glass-like lung images.

The mechanism also interfered with the normal heme anabolic pathway of the human body, is expected to result in human disease.

According to the validation analysis of these finds, chloroquine could prevent orf1ab, ORF3a, and ORF10 to attack the heme to form the porphyrin, and inhibit the binding of ORF8 and surface glycoproteins to porphyrins to a certain extent, effectively relieve the symptoms of respiratory distress.

Since the ability of chloroquine to inhibit structural proteins is not particularly obvious, the therapeutic effect on different people may be different. Favipiravir could inhibit the envelope protein and ORF7a protein bind to porphyrin, prevent the virus from entering host cells, and catching free porphyrins.

This paper is only for academic discussion, the correctness needs to be confirmed by other laboratories. Due to the side effects and allergic reactions of drugs such as chloroquine, please consult a qualified doctor for treatment details, and do not take the medicine yourself.

I did wonder if the vid of the tissue-paper medical gowns came through official channels, or sourcing via aliexpress.

LA County extends stay-at-home order, business-closure orders to May 15
By Mary Stringini
Published 2 hours ago

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County on Friday extended its stay-at-home and business-closure orders through May 15, 2020, as public health officials said that 8,430 individuals in the county have tested positive for the coronavirus.
The initial order was set to expire on April 19.

County health officials said that based on a detailed analysis of county cases to date, the numbers show that the current social-distancing practices have "flattened the curve" of COVID-19 spread. However, health officials believe that if the stay-at-home order was lifted, the trend would quickly reverse.

Flattening the curve in LA County
Health Services Director Christina Ghaly discusses benefits of flattening the curve

"If you were to reduce physical distancing to the pre-health officer order levels, virtually all individuals in Los Angeles County, 95.6% per the model, would be infected by the pandemic by Aug. 1, 2020," said Dr. Christina Ghaly, the county's director of health services. "That number is starkly reduced, down to about 30%, if we maintain the current levels of physical distancing."

Prior to Easter Sunday, the county issued the closure of all public parks to ensure the practice of social distancing. With the extended stay-at-home order, families will likely be under the same guidelines for Mother's Day, which falls on May 10.

County officials added that all current closures in place, including beaches, parks and trails, will continue to remain closed.

LA County extends stay-at-home order, business-closure orders to May 15

The closure now requires all essential businesses to provide employees with cloth-face coverings, which they will be required to wear while they work. It will also require that all essential businesses post information about social distancing requirements at each of their establishments. Those additional measures take effect next Wednesday, according to Public Health.

The order also requires anyone who enters an essential business to wear a cloth face-covering in order to keep both themselves, and the essential workers, safe.
Public Health officials said that children 2 and under should not wear face coverings.

Los Angeles County Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer announced an additional 18 COVID-19 deaths since the day prior, bringing the county's total number of deaths to 241.

Of the newly reported deaths, 10 were over the age of 65, seven were between the ages of 41 and 65 and one was between the age of 18 and 40. Ferrer did not specify whether or not these individuals had underlying health conditions.

Echoing guidance from the White House, Ferrer on Monday said people should try to avoid leaving their homes altogether for the next two weeks as the pandemic is expected to worsen across the country.

"If you have enough supplies in your home, this would be the week to skip shopping altogether," she said.

Public Health advised residents against leaving their homes for groceries or medications, encouraging residents to arrange to have them delivered instead, if necessary.

Why social distancing can save lives amid COVID-19 pandemic

Public Health continues to stress to the public that while a majority of those who have died from COVID-19 in the county had underlying health conditions, not everyone does. Residents are urged to continue to take the necessary precautions in order to protect themselves from the virus.

Health officials say that social distancing remains our best defense against the virus, and all residents are instructed to abide by current measures in place across the state. Social distancing is not only about preventing the illness itself, but rather, slowing the rate at which people get sick.

On April 3, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that it would be recommending people wear cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain, such as grocery stores and pharmacies, especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.

The use of face coverings is believed to help slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus, without knowing it, from transmitting it to others.

The face coverings can be made at home from common materials at low cost, and the CDC has instructions on how to make them listed on its website.

This comes as more evidence is emerging that coronavirus infections are being spread by people who have no clear symptoms. Last week, the CDC changed how it was defining risk of infection for Americans, saying anyone may be a considered a carrier, whether they have symptoms or not.

In accordance with new guidelines from the CDC, Public Health said that anyone who begins to experience symptoms must contact those they were in contact with up to 48 hours prior to having symptoms in order for them to self-isolate.

Public Health requests that anyone who experiences any symptoms of COVID-19 to self-isolate for the 14-day quarantine period in order to help slow the spread.

According to the CDC, symptoms of the virus include fever, coughing and shortness of breath. Anyone who experiences these symptoms should call their healthcare provider or local public health department first before seeking medical care so that appropriate precautions can be taken.

Public Health has issued the following guidance during this time of increased spread:

"If you are mildly sick, stay home for at least seven days or until 72 hours after being fever free, whichever is longer. Call your doctor if you are concerned and/or your symptoms worsen. Individuals who are elderly, have underlying health conditions or pregnant should consider contacting their providers earlier when they are sick."
