…… Lesion on Tongue won't Heal

How is feeling today, Packy?

I've been eating a soft food diet so it's a little better. Finally got to the store this afternoon to get some pure almond extract, colloidal silver and l-lysine. I started taking B12 again and it does seem to be helping. I think the l-lysine will also help since I've been under a lot of stress recently. Slowly getting the kitchen deep cleaned and everything else done and in place for post surgery.

The mouth guard and letting it heal is the best idea to me. Taking vitamin C will help it heal faster. The biopsy sounds ridiculous.

Most cases of CA are due to fungus. You can read and watch videos on how to prevent that easily.

It's not a fungus, already been tested.

Definitely have a medical professional deal with it. Just lost a friend who self-treated a lump on his tongue because he didn't like Dr.'s.

This will be my third time, since January, that I've seen this doctor. We tried a couple of things first... still need to get in to see my dentist for a mouth guard and thanks to covid that's taking longer than normal. I may try a different mask for my CPAP as well, while this one works, and I bumped up to a large from a medium, so it's working a little bit better, but I'd like perfect to be honest.

Went looking for my thread and did not realize it was on the main. Taste, feelings, etc., normal as usual, the biopsy spot hurts like hell.

Had the biopsy today, it wasn't nearly as traumatic as I thought it could be, I'll have the results sometime next week. Treated myself to two new pairs of much needed shoes, a pair of sneakers and a new pair of berkenstocks, so I should be good on the shoe front for a while now.
Praying all is well.

Dear Packy, I may have missed some of the thread but here is a free (and worth what you pay,,hah) independent diagnosis:

Aphthous Ulcer (s): i have had great success treating them with Triamcinolone in Orabase. An anti inflammatory that is mixed is an oral, anti salivation, paste, applied to the ulcers at bedtime.
Good luck and God Bless.

I've thought of you several times, Packy, because I enjoy eating! I can't imagine having a sore tongue. That would certainly curtail a lot of salty foods...and probably many other kinds, too. Glad you're hanging in there.

Packy, I have wanted to get on the pc to post on this thread for awhile but I'm finally able to.

I would Highly suggest that you order some Spilanthes tincture. https://smile.amazon.com/Spilanthes...ture+for+the+mouth&qid=1619284443&sr=8-2&th=1

It will numb your mouth better than Anbesol and it also kills bacteria in your mouth too, to keep infections at bay.

I buy this when I'm on Kauai and also on their website when I'm not there.

It will give you some very much needed relief. V

PW, I have used a product for mouth sores of all kinds for years called Cepacol. It is a mouthwash, but it works like a miracle! Mouth sores gone in a matter of hours. They use it in hospitals. I order it online from Amazon. Can't recommend it more highly! You might find it in a local drug store, too.
I remember that one. It came out in the 1960's. I like the taste. An old 7th Day Adventist doctor once told me that mouthwash destroys bit B12 in the mouth. I don't know.

I get very nice sneakers from Salvation Army. A friend once told me that when you wear other peoples footware you get their vibes too and it can affect you. I haven't noticed though.

My feet are too weird to buy used shoes, I have a lot of hardware in my right leg that causes me to walk funny.

I meant to post earlier on this thread. Years ago, I had a sore appear in the back of my throat that was very painful. It was a round pit that wouldn't heal. I showed it to my Doctor and he called it a herpetic ulcer. I've never had any kind of herpes or cold sores. He took a long swab, and dipped it into a bottle of dark liquid and dabbed it onto the sore. Nasty taste for sure, but it healed right up.

Every human on the planet carries a non life threatening variant of the herpes virus/gene in their bodies and has done so for hundreds if not thousands of years, I read up on that about 20 years ago - right before OC and I got married I kept getting an outbreak on my lower lip, doctor kept telling me it wasn't contagious, which turns out it wasn't, it was brought on by stress from working full time, going to grad school full time, and planning a wedding on my own. She told me to research it, which I did, learned a lot about this silly herpes thing, there are different varieties, one is highly contagious, others not so much. Some L-lysine got it under control and in short order.

I'd sure love to know what that liquid was he used on your sore!

I'm pretty sure it was a silver preparation as I remember. I'd like to know as well.

Great news, Packy!

Now that you know what it isn’t, do you have any better idea of what it is?

I would guess either iodine, or more likely Merthiolate. Worked wonders for a sore throat.

Try a mix of 50/50 white sugar and RAW honey. Use a qtip and coat / pack the wound. The sugar will tend to draw out/dry the wound, the raw honey is an anti inflammatory anti fungal. Never tried it on a mouth wound but works wonders on most skin wounds. Learned this remedy from an old horse doctor fifty years ago. For a skin wound apply as a poultice.

About three months ago I had to have oral surgery and a bone graft installed where a wisdom tooth had failed. Hurt like hell. Finally, I remembered my go-to cure when (as a teenager) I used to get canker sores in my mouth. A fairly strong solution of very warm, dissolved salt water, swoosh it around in the mouth until it quits stinging. Do it again, and then rinse two or three times. Salt really kills a lot of germs, and it stimulates the gums to heal. Useful note: Keep your head down, over the sink, while swooshing and rinsing. Otherwise, you will swallow some and that is both nasty and not good for you. It really smarts the first time you do it, but it seems to alleviate the soreness and speed healing. Very glad to hear you got good biopsy results!

Fabulous news! Now figure out how you are biting yourself.

I just took down this “weird cap” -seriously bizarre shape with an Emory board. Fine grain. I kept getting sores there and it was from this freaky crown I’d hit on. Even my dentists thought it was shaped strange. I just filed it down carefully and went on. BUT, honestly, I would either have a dentist look at it or try a mouth guard first. Hope all goes well!!

I'm hoping to get a mouth guard made next month when I get my replacement crown.

Why wait?

Go to the sports department and buy one of those football player soft plastic mouthguards. You know, the ones that you put in boiling water for 20 seconds, and then bite into them and they form an impression of your teeth.

Here’s the trick, don’t put it on your top teeth, put it on your lower teeth. Don’t forget to cut off the part that you attached to the helmet ;). .

You may need to take a pair of small scissors and trim the excess from the edges inside and outside of your teeth so it doesn’t rub on your gums or under your tongue. You can also smooth out any rough edges using your typical fingernail file.

30 years ago my dentist convinced me to have a hard plastic mouthguard made for $1000 to prevent me from grinding my teeth. It lasted about 10 years. On a business trip I forgot to take it with me, so I invented the above technique for about three dollars.I have never had to pay a dentist for a night guard again, because it’s soft it’s even more comfortable than the ones dentists make for you.

I have several, and I wear one every night when I go to sleep. I have dramatically reduced tooth damage caused by grinding.
