Have a lesion on the right side of my tongue, it's from a really bad bite, that's not healing. It was sorta healed, and then I accidentally bit my tongue again. I also realized that I'm grinding my teeth when I sleep, working on getting a dental dam for that issue, and I sometimes catch the side of my tongue. The cpap mask doesn't help any either.

Well anyway, doc wants to biopsy and we're talking a huge hole here... so I'm wondering what I can try, over the counter/herbal wise to get it healed up. I have oil of oregano, but am not sure how to use it... it was one of the suggestion in my google search but didn't see how to use the stuff, apply it directly, dilute and then apply? I'm going to order some l-lysine and some colloidal silver to see if that will help. I know there's some honey from down under that's also supposed to work but I don't remember the name.

Suggestions would be helpful because that prescription oral mouthwash the doc ordered is one not only nasty but also contains saccharine which gives me horrible migraines.

I have been doing salt water rinses and have tried peroxide, the peroxide had no affect on the area at all.
If you are grinding your teeth you more than likely have worms.
remedy:
Go to the doc and get meds or made a string of garlic cloves string them together and wear them around your neck at night. Thus is an old time remedy sounds crazy but it works!
Best of Luck

PW, I have used a product for mouth sores of all kinds for years called Cepacol. It is a mouthwash, but it works like a miracle! Mouth sores gone in a matter of hours. They use it in hospitals. I order it online from Amazon. Can't recommend it more highly! You might find it in a local drug store, too.

Thank you! Orion Commander and I were trying to remember the name last night!

Pharmaceutical grade Tea-Tree oil applied with a q-tip several times a day. Tastes awful, but works.
Find one with high T and low C. (Terpinen and Cineole). T36, C5 is good.

I had your same problem. The tea-tree oil healed me, and wearing a chin strap at night prevented more bites.

Prayers sent up for you, please be very, very careful. Colloidal silver. Hold in mouth, gargle some of it, and swallow some of it to ingest, so you get it covered.

Is this the stuff for making cookies? If so I think I may have a bottle in the kitchen.
Yes, as long as its extract, and not flavoring.

Be careful with peroxide.. its great for bubbling junk out of contaminated injuries once, but it burns tissue and can retard healing.

Sigh... I've got a Wound Heal gel that has shown amazing results in healing slow to heal wounds (including diabetic ulcers in 2 cases), but I don't know how well it would work in the short time it could be held in the mouth. I do know its safe to ingest...I guess I just wouldn't be comfortable recommending it for that... not as the first guinea pig, so to speak.

Prayers that its nothing- I'm serious about the extract. It kills the pain of cancer sores and makes them a 3-4 day problem, rather than 14 days. Worth a try.

Dab a little baking soda on it, then rinse with a mouthful of hydrogen peroxide. Do this a few times a day. It will sting a bit but will heal faster. If you have any chlorine dioxide and DMSO that would work too. I just killed a tooth ache with that mix and avoided a dental visit.

Are you using anything for COPD like Advair or similar powder inhalants?

If So, and you haven't been RELIGIOUS about rinsing EVERY TIME with water, this would be a contributing issue.

No, I did not get any instructions other than using distilled water in my machine. Tell me more please.

Just my 2 cents....Iodine came to mind. Just a dab some on with a q tip. I read some remarkable info about iodine. I believe you can make a mouth rinse with it too. You'd have to look up the recipe. Sending prayers. Good luck! :rs: ETAI saw a video from a physician that had his staff use this to prevent covid: you put 1/2 tsp. of iodine in small bottle of saline spray (1 1/2 to 2 oz) and use spray a couple times a day to prevent covid, and that's what I've been using.

As for a cover for the teeth at night may I suggest a cheap .99 cent mouth guard from sporting goods. I have plenty of people that use them or the two dollar ones instead of the expensive one size fits all ones from the pharmacy. Just a thought as a way to keep you from biting your tongue again.

Yes! I went in to the dentist for a cleaning with five mouth sores one time. It was late winter, and I was at the tail-end of a cold-flu combination, plus I had bitten my tongue trying to chew some really tough steak. He highly recommended the Peroxyl. Given that I was out of peroxide, I bought some and tried it -- it worked. I try to keep a bottle around during the winter.

Laughing as I peck this on my phone...

I would not find it the least unbecoming of a lady to spit out a piece of steak so tough as to be difficult to chew.

Locally I am known for my steaks although wife and I rarely eat them.

I keep biting the same spot, it heals up and then I accidentally bite it again, sometimes I bite the side of my tongue in my sleep.

I was doing a little bit more reading I stopped taking B12 a year ago because it contained sorbotal if you don't have IBS you won't understand. So took some a bit ago. I'll be calling my ENT tomorrow, which was our agreement anyway, to update him on my healing progress. Praying I can get an appointment this week, I'll do the biopsy just to be on the safe side. and yes a mouth guard would probably do me wonders.
Last year I had my last wisdom tooth come up. It had a sharp point to it and kept poking my cheek. I got a white spot there and a sore. After months I went to the dentist and he filed it down. Is much better now. I had to wait as it was winter and I couldn't drive far.

Packy please try this....

Wet your thumb and index finger with water and then pour salt on them. Get a good amount. Then all you have to do is pinch your tongue with your salty fingers. Pinch hard for 30 seconds. Yes it hurts like hell, but it will shrink your lesion in no time flat. Also works for canker sores. Do that and call me in the morning.

As a child of 3-4 I fell and hit my chin. It might not have been so bad, but I was sticking my tongue out at my older sister. Bit it clean through in the middle. I still have a scar on my tongue over 50 years later, but the hole healed up. I can’t remember what if anything was put on it. I don’t think I even went to the dr but my parents did call the dr

Well, there's a lot of responses and I don't have time to read thru them ATM. Grilling Dinner.

I will give you the Advice I gave a friend of mine who had a Stye in his eye and was overaly concerned as he was picking up one of his Hook...errrs, uh, Girlfriends from an airport on the other side of the Divide up in Oregon.

Anyway, set up a vid cam because it will be a Hit on YooToob or TikTok or whatever.

Get yourself a bullet- .22 is fine and strip the round from the Casing then dump the powder into the sore and light it off.

Cauterize it.

Just like the old days with wounds.

I know from personal experience that a used tea bag (after tea has steeped) put on canker sores takes the pain out and helps them shrink and heal. Don't know if this would work but it may be worth a try.

In prayer for you.

I have a good burning tool and several other tools I could use.

Definitely have a medical professional deal with it. Just lost a friend who self-treated a lump on his tongue because he didn't like Dr.'s.

The mouth guard and letting it heal is the best idea to me. Taking vitamin C will help it heal faster. The biopsy sounds ridiculous.

Most cases of CA are due to fungus. You can read and watch videos on how to prevent that easily.
