INDIA, PAKISTAN MOVE TO KNIFE EDGE OF WAR OVER KASHMIR
The Nuclear-Armed Adversaries Are Pouring Thousands Of Troops Into The Disputed Territory.
AUG 6
Kashmir is speeding closer to all-out war between India and Pakistan, both of which are nuclear armed.

In response to India placing the disputed territory on lockdown, Pakistan is now weighing a plan to send thousands of its own troops into the region. Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan is warning that “more suicide attacks” against Indian forces could be coming.

The nuclear-armed neighbors have fought two of their three wars over Kashmir. They last engaged in a temporary air conflict in February after a terrorist group based in Pakistan claimed responsibility for an attack on an Indian military convoy.

Today, India’s lower house of parliament passed the controversial Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill by a 367-67 vote. In addition to revoking the region’s special autonomous status, the legislation also divides it into two federal territories—one formed by Jammu and Kashmir and other consisting of the enclave Ladakh.

Indian foreign ministry spokesman Raveesh Kumar said splitting Jammu and Kashmir into federal territories was a domestic issue. He added Jammu and Kashmir’s special status hindered its development because it barred people from outside the state from buying property, investing and settling there.

Reuters reports celebrations broke out in Jammu, where the Hindu Dogra community celebrated with Indian flags. Fireworks were seen in northern Lucknow city as well.

Thousands of paramilitary troops have been deployed, and a communications blackout in the disputed territory is now about to enter a third day after India cut telecommunications and Internet links in order to prevent protests. Local leaders were also arrested, including two former chief ministers of the state.

Armed police are now patrolling ever few hundred yards apart and public gatherings of more than four people have been banned, while schools and stores in residential neighborhoods were closed.

Meanwhile, in Pakistan, protests were held across the country and the government condemned India’s actions in Jammu and Kashmir. The leader of the Pakistan-administered portion of Kashmir, Raja Farooq Haider, said he had complete faith in Islamabad’s ability to defend against “Indian mischief”:

"We have to settle some old scores with India.”

After a meeting with top commanders in the city of Rawalpindi, Pakistan’s army chief, Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed support for the people of Kashmir. He added that Prime Minister Khan was weighing an approach to the United Nations Security Council:

“The Pakistan Army firmly stands by the Kashmiris in their just struggle to the very end. We are prepared and shall go to any extent to fulfill our obligations in this regard.”

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, said:

“We are following, with concern, the tense situation in the region. We’re also aware of reports of restrictions on the Indian side of Kashmir, and we urge all parties to exercise restraint. I would add, as I’ve already said to some of you by email that over the past few days, U.N. military observer group in India and Pakistan, otherwise known as UNMOGIP, has observed and reported an increase in military activity along the line of control."

China has stated fierce opposition to India’s move, as well. As a border country to the disputed territory, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said New Delhi must exercise caution on border issues, adding the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill is illegal.

She also urged India to strictly abide by the agreements reached by both countries in order to avoid any actions that would further complicate boundary issues. India and China have a longstanding dispute over the border including in Ladakh, the high altitude area.

I mention this everytime we get close to a shooting war between India and Pakistan, but it needs to be mentioned everytime we get close to a shooting war over there.

OUR ARMED FORCES IN AFGHANISTAN RELY ON PAKISTAN TO GET IN AND OUT AND TO GET THEIR SUPPLIES.

There is no way a war involving Pakistan doesn't effect us directly. If China is involved, it gets even messier. Pray for everyone over there.

Hmm, reminds me of Alexander the Great when asked by his four generals who should take over his empire once he died, replied: THE STRONGEST.
I'm tell you all that this will be settled in blood and fire, and India will just take Kashmir and kill any paki who tries to stop that.

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW IS PAKISTAN IS OVERWHELMED IN ANY, REPEAT ANY, CONVENTIONAL MILITARY SCENARIO THEY CAN RUN. THIS MEANS PAKISTAN WILL GO TO NUKES, TACTICAL NUKES, ALMOST IMMEDIATELY OF ANY FORWARD INDIAN MILITARY DEPLOYMENTS. NO THINK ABOUT IT, OR GET PERMISSION, OF CHECK WITH THE HEAD GUYS IN ISLAMABD, NOPE THE BRIGADE COMMANDERS, THE REGIMENTAL COMMANDERS OF THE MOBILE NUCLEAR MISSILE BATTERY WILL LAUNCH ON DETECTION OF ANYTHING, REPEAT ANYTHING, INDIA MOBILIZES.

Yep, I see no way Pakistan can fail to respond to this land grab by India, and I see no way China can fail to support Pakistan, and no way Pakistan can fail to launch nukes on Indian territory.

GAME OVER.

And since the Indian general staff know this too the escalation curve on this is going to be basically straight up.

Pakistan's National Security Committee meeting ends in next 40 minutes. Rumors circulating in Pakistani media indicate what can be expected:

- Increase of troops at LoC.
- Closure of Wagah/Attari Border.
- Cultural relations may end.
- Trade could end.
- Diplo offensive.

There is some RUMINT that #Pakistan has increased their alert status along the Line of Control (LOC). It is possible, if this report is accurate, additional soldiers, equipment and CAP patrols will increase. An increase of LOC skirmishes are always possible as well.

The time for talking and diplomatic actions is officially over and done with.

These two are about to rumble. If you start kicking out diplo staff you're ready to conduct war. No third party (US specifically) is going to be listened to, the time for talking is over. War cometh..........

And Pakistan isn't the only country where we get supplies for troops downrange in Afghanistan. Try Azerbaijan. Their troops also were part of the coalition in Afghanistan and Iraq.
LOTS of stuff heading to our troops goes through Baku. So Pakistan's loss to US forces in the sandbox would be minimal.
We're there mainly to keep the pulse on their stored nukes. We did work on PAL locks for their nukes around 2003? 2004? Pray we have a backdoor into them; and that India doesn't preempt.

Someone mentioned why is India getting ready to move now on this. It's possible that the monsoon season is about to start, and they want to resolve the situation, or at least have all the chess pieces in place before it starts. The area is also mountainous-After the monsoon season I'd suspect snow starts early in the mountainous area.

Either way something is going to cut loose and soon.

Heavy Clashes Erupt Between Indian, Pakistani Forces In Kashmir

by Tyler Durden
Zero Hedge
Wednesday, 08/07/2019 - 18:55

Reuters reports intense clashes broke out Wednesday along the Line of Control in contested Kashmir between Indian and Pakistani troops.

Citing local media, Reuters described that "troops on the border had exchanged heavy fire and that Pakistani troops have fired mortars in the clashes." The exchange of fire took place according to local media at the Sunderbani Sector along the Line of Control (LOC) after 10pm local time, with each side blaming the other for breaching a ceasefire.

Though few details were given, especially with a near total communications blackout on the Indian-administered side in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), military observers have been expecting intensifying shelling and clashes between the nuclear armed rivals after earlier this week the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata leadership in New Delhi revoked Article 370 of the constitution which protected Muslim-majority J&K's special autonomous status.

Unverified social media reports from regional observers say the death toll is mounting amid a broad Indian crackdown on its side of the LOC.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan placed his armed forces on alert and on Wednesday recalled its ambassador while expelling its Indian envoy, and crucially took the drastic step of suspending bilateral trade with India.

PM Khan further directed the military to "continue vigilance" after previously saying Pakistan would take "all possible options" in support of Kashmir's Muslim-majority population - this after regional media reported "tens of thousands" of Indian troops have surged into Kashmir, while a phone and internet blackout is in place.

A day prior to the fresh clashes, which are likely to escalate without external mediation, Khan had suggested a "genocide" could be unfolding as Indian reinforcements continued pouring into the restive border region.

India and Pakistan have fought two wars specifically over Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands amid a nearly three decade armed revolt.

Indian Warships on High Alert Over Possible Pakistan-Based Terror Attack due to Kashmir Row - Report
17:29 09.08.2019(updated 18:10 09.08.2019)
Tim Korso
Tensions between Pakistan and India have escalated in the wake of New Delhi's decision to scrap the Jammu and Kashmir region's special status and introduce legislation to split the state in two. India has previously repeatedly accused Islamabad of harbouring terrorists that conduct attacks on Kashmir's territory.

The Indian Navy have been put on high alert over possible terror attacks that could be conducted by militants allegedly based in Pakistan, India Today TV reported, citing anonymous sources.

According to the Hindustan Times, citing an anonymous top official, the country's naval forces have tightened security measures on the eastern and western seaboards and initiated real-time monitoring of all "points of entry" along the coast.

At the same time, AFP reported, citing locals, that Indian security forces across Kashmir have been put on high alert amid fears of protests after the Friday prayers in mosques.

The alert comes amid escalating tensions on the Kashmir border between India and Pakistan. Following the exchange of fire at the Line of Control, with both sides blaming each other for violating the ceasefire, New Delhi scrapped Article 370 of the constitution that granted the Jammu and Kashmir region its special status and introduced legislation that was approved by the Indian parliament to separate the state into two separate entities.

These moves have drawn criticism from Pakistan, which has slammed India for allegedly not acting in the interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Islamabad then degraded its diplomatic ties with Delhi, suspended trade and certain train and air links with the country, but announced that it would not resort to military action to resolve their disagreements.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has rejected Islamabad's criticism and advised it against meddling in the country's domestic affairs, including the revocation of Article 370.

New Delhi has repeatedly accused Pakistan of harbouring terrorists on its territory, allegations which Islamabad has denied. The Indian Air Force (IAF) strikes on alleged terrorist positions in Pakistan in February 2019 led to the downing of at least one IAF jet in a dogfight with the Pakistani Air Force and a further escalation of tensions between the countries. https://t.co/3B48Zs96hz?amp=1

Pakistan Cabinet Approves Trade Suspension, Train Service Stop With India Over Kashmir Row
15:43 09.08.2019(updated 16:24 09.08.2019)
Pakistan earlier paused diplomatic and trade ties with India, protesting against New Delhi's decision to cancel the autonomy of the Muslim-dominated Jammu and Kashmir - contested lands between the two neighbouring countries.

Pakistan's Federal Cabinet has formally approved suspension of trade with India, endorses Sheikh Rasheed’s decision to suspend Thar and Samjhota Express trains in the wake of the abrogation of Article 370 that has led to the Kashmir crisis, a government source told Sputnik.

Pakistan's Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad earlier stated that another train running to India would be given no way, with Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar stressing that the decision was unilateral and that Islamabad made it without any consultations with New Delhi.

Previously, Pakistan put on hold diplomacy and trade with India, in a bid to show outrage over a decision to cancel the autonomy of the predominantly Muslim-populated Jammu and Kashmir, which is a disputed territory between the two countries. More specifically, Islamabad opted to close a major train service with Delhi amid tensions between the two countries that spiked severely as India revoked Article 370 of the constitution, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

The Indian government said in a statement that it regrets Pakistan's decision to cut diplomatic ties, halt trade and urged Islamabad to reconsider the announced decision.

The Kashmir region, the southern part of which lies in India's Jammu and Kashmir state, has been a stumbling block in the two countries' bilateral relations since the two gained independence from Britain in 1947. However, tensions soared earlier this year, 16 years after the sides established a Line of Control (LoC) and reached a ceasefire in 2003. The tensions have been ongoing, as the two nationa claim the above-mentioned territory, albeit virtually controlling only parts of it.

In late February, according to New Delhi, a militant group based on the Pakistani side of the province of Kashmir attacked Indian security forces, killing several dozen people. India's air force conducted airstrikes on Pakistan in response to the assault, with clashes along the border showing no signs of ending. https://t.co/tjTe4KeKZo?amp=1

China says it will support Pakistan ‘upholding its rights’ in Kashmir row with India
Beijing urges calm after Indian government moves to strip disputed territory of its special status but offers support to its Pakistani ally

Published: 12:28pm, 10 Aug, 2019

Updated: 12:58pm, 10 Aug, 2019

China has said it would support Pakistan defending its “legitimate rights and interests” in the Kashmir crisis during an emergency visit by the country’s foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday night. The meeting in Beijing between Qureshi and his counterpart Wang Yi came ahead of a visit by the Indian foreign minister on Monday and was the latest in a series of high-level diplomatic meetings between China and Pakistan since India moved to revoke Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. Qureshi briefed Wang on Pakistan’s position and potential responses to the situation, and said he had faith that China would “uphold justice on the Kashmir issue,” according to a statement from China’s foreign ministry.

Wang said China was “seriously concerned” about the recent escalation of the situation, and called for dialogue between Pakistan and India to maintain peace in South Asia.

“China will continue to firmly support Pakistan in safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests and continue to preside over justice for Pakistan on the international stage,” he said. Wang also said that both India and Pakistan were “friendly neighbours” of China, and discouraged unilateral action by either party.

It will also break off the mainly Buddhist region of Ladakh from the rest of the Muslim-majority state to form two new territories – both to be federally administered.

Both India and Pakistan claim the whole of Kashmir, which was partitioned between the two following the end of British rule in 1948, and have subsequently fought wars over the territory.

Following Monday’s announcement, Pakistan downgraded its relations with its neighbour by sending back India’s envoy, suspending trade relations and ending some cross-border train routes.
Is India’s Kashmir move an attempt to shift its Muslim demographic?
An adviser to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan tweeted on Thursday that the country would ban Indian films from being shown in the country. The following day Pakistan’s ministry of information and broadcasting announced it would ban all cultural exchanges with India, under the slogan “Say No to India”.

China has been speaking to both countries as the conflict escalates, in particular with its close ally Pakistan. Qureshi’s arrival on Friday had been anticipated since he told Pakistan’s parliament on Wednesday that he may “dash off to Beijing” to discuss the situation. On Wednesday top Chinese and Pakistani diplomats held consultations on UN affairs in Beijing, and on Thursday China’s vice foreign minister Luo Zhaohui met Pakistan’s new ambassador to China Naghmana Alamgir Hashmi. But China has its own territorial dispute with India over the part of Kashmir it controls. One Tuesday it described New Delhi’s actions as “unacceptable”, prompting an angry response from India which said it “does not comment on the internal affairs of other countries and similarly expects other countries to do likewise”.

Pakistani Air Force Ferrying Equipment To Skardu Base Near Ladakh, Likely To Deploy JF-17 Fighter Jets: R

https://swarajyamag.com/insta/pakis...kh-likely-to-deploy-jf-17-fighter-jets-report (fair use)
by Swarajya Staff - Aug 12 2019, 4:36 pm,

Amid the continuing tensions between India and Pakistan over abrogation of Article 370, Pakistani forces have started moving equipment to their forward bases close to Ladakh, reports Times of India.

"Three C-130 transport aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) were used on Saturday (10 August) to ferry equipment to their Skardu air base opposite the Union Territory of Ladakh. The Indian agencies concerned are keeping a close eye on the movement of Pakistanis along the border areas," government sources were quoted in the report as saying.

According to the sources, Pakistanis are most likely to deploy their JF-17 fighter jets to the Skardu air field. The equipment moved to the forward operating base could be support equipment for the operations of the fighter aircraft, they said.

Skardu is a forward operating base of the PAF which is used to support the Pakistani Army operations on the border with India.

According to the report, the Indian Air Force and Army along with Intelligence agencies are keeping a close watch on the PAF movement. The transport plane being used by PAF is the older version of the C-130 transport aircraft, which was supplied by the United States a long time ago.

However, the move to shift planes to the forward base could also be a part of an exercise that was being planned by the PAF, the sources said.
