And here we go ..

Moments ago, the leader of the Iraqi militia, Kata'ib Sayyid al-Shuhada, Abu Ala al-Walai, released a statement threatening Israel with strikes on all its ports in the Mediterranean Sea, targeting airports, military bases, and power stations.

If we witness the return and activity of Israeli strikes in Syria and Iraq, this means that Israel's targets will expand to the depth of neighboring countries. We may see new #Kotlet before the end of the month of Ramadan.

Benny Gantz issued a statement following the UN Security Council resolution:

"The State of Israel has a moral obligation to continue fighting until the hostages are returned and the threat stemming from Hamas is removed and that is what we will do.

The Security Council's decision has no operational significance for us, and regardless, we will continue to listen to our friends, and we will always do what is right for Israel's security.

At the same time, it is important to remember - the special relationship between Israel and the United States is an anchor in Israel's security and foreign relations, and the direct dialogue with the American administration is an essential asset that must not be given up even when there are challenges and disputes.

The US did well to clarify that a ceasefire depends on the return of the hostages.

It is good that the Minister of Defense is now in the US, and will discuss with senior government officials the political and security issues at hand and our need to continue fighting.

Not only is it right for the delegation to travel - the prime minister would do well if he himself traveled to the US, and held a direct dialogue with President Biden and the senior administration officials.

This is always true, and it is certainly true now, when the weight of US support for Israel is so critical."

Israel's Defense Minister says the military will "expand the campaign against Hezbollah and increase the rate of attacks"

Hinting at Israel's alleged overnight airstrike in Syria, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant says the military will "expand the campaign [against Hezbollah] and increase the rate of attacks in the north."

"Israel is turning from defending to pursuing Hezbollah, we will reach wherever the organization operates, in Beirut, Damascus and in more distant places," Gallant says following an assessment at the IDF Northern Command in Safed.

In the past day, a top Hezbollah commander was killed in an IDF drone strike in southern Lebanon, and five others were among 38 dead in alleged Israeli airstrikes in Syria's Aleppo.

Gallant says he observed the strike on Ali Naim, the deputy commander of Hezbollah's rocket unit, this morning.

"The one responsible for the serious damage in Lebanon is Hezbollah and the one responsible for the many casualties in the Hezbollah group is [Hassan] Nasrallah personally. They have over 320 terrorists killed, and we will exact a price for any action that comes out of Lebanon," he says.

"Wherever we need to act, we will act," Gallant adds.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing a coalition crisis and a Monday deadline over drafting ultra-Orthodox Jews into the military, as the war in Gaza rages on and deepens the country’s political conflicts.

After an Israeli Supreme Court ruling on Thursday curtailing subsidies for ultra-Orthodox men, Netanyahu has until Monday to present a plan to dismantle what the court called a system that privileges the ultra-Orthodox at the expense of the secular Jewish public.

If that plan alienates the ultra-Orthodox lawmakers on whose support Netanyahu depends, his coalition could weaken and the country could be forced to hold new elections.

The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the suspension of state subsidies for ultra-Orthodox Jews studying in yeshivas instead of doing military service. The ruling could have far-reaching consequences for Netanyahu’s government and for the tens of thousands of religious men who currently are exempt from mandatory military service.

The court ruling came just days ahead of an April 1 deadline for the Israeli government to agree on a new law to allow the ultra-Orthodox community to avoid being drafted, according to media reports. The government is debating a bill which reportedly seeks to strike a compromise by allowing exemptions with limitations.

It is the most serious threat to Netanyahu’s government since he cobbled together a shaky national unity administration in the days after the Oct. 7 attack by the Hamas militant group.

Israel Believes Only 60-70 Out Of 134 Hostages Are Still Alive

Israel's official count for the number of people still being held hostage in the Gaza Strip remains at 134 mostly Israeli citizens as well as some foreigners, which includes possibly deceased victims. Amid stalled truce negotiations in Qatar, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz has revealed that Israeli officials believe only 60 to 70 Israeli hostages in Gaza are still alive.

"According to the IDF, a total of 134 hostages and bodies are being held in Gaza," Haaretz wrote Thursday. "Thirty-six of the people were confirmed by the army as killed – some on October 7, when their bodies were taken into the Strip. Of the 98 living hostages, 10 are foreigners (eight Thais, one Nepalese national, and one man with Mexican and French citizenship)."
Via BBC

What's more is that a month ago some of the families of the hostages were informed that 20 captives were in life-threatening condition. An unnamed source close to the crisis told Haaretz, "I hope I'm mistaken, but the number may even be lower"—suggesting there may be even fewer that are alive.

Given the intense battles unfolding across most of the Gaza Strip, it is widely speculated that the hostages are being held somewhere within the miles of underground tunnels below, where Hamas also has command and control centers.

There's a possibility that some of the hostages could have been killed by Israeli's relentless bombing campaign which has decimated entire neighborhoods. A horrifically tragic incident last December saw three Israeli hostages shot dead by Israeli forces who mistook them for Palestinian militants.

Israeli leadership under Netanyahu has been accused by the hostages' families of prioritizing the military operation to defeat Hamas far and above hostage recovery.

Some recent testimony of hostages freed in last year's truce and exchange with Hamas said the following:

Echoing this sense of an indiscriminate and haphazard policy, testimonies from newly freed Israeli hostages, who were released as part of exchange deals for Palestinian prisoners during a temporary ceasefire in late November, as well as from some of the hostages’ families, indicate that one of the main fears of those held captive in Gaza was the threat of being hit by Israeli airstrikes and shelling. Many of the hostages, according to these testimonies, were held above ground rather than in tunnels, and were therefore particularly vulnerable to such attacks.

Large-scale anti-Netanyahu protests led by victims' families have persisted in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Pressure has also mounted on Washington to strike a ceasefire.

Prime Minister Netanyahu is currently facing accusations from within his own government of 'sabotaging' the truce process with an aim to prolong the war, and also thus his political future in the top office.

Israeli Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant during Meetings this week in Washington, D.C. with U.S. Defense Officials reportedly suggested the Creation of a Multi-National Military Force of Arab Countries which would Occupy the Gaza Strip to Improve Law and Order as well as provide Escort to Humanitarian Aid Convoys; according to Israeli and U.S. Officials there have already been discussions with several Arab Nations, including Egypt and Jordan, about the Establishment of such a Force which could enter the Gaza Strip after the War but this suggest by Minister Gallant appears to be a Force which would Operate in Gaza before the Cessation of Hostilities.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant says senior Hamas operatives captured by troops in the Gaza Strip have told interrogators that "the group is collapsing from within."

"In the last week or two, hundreds of terrorists have been captured and what they say about what happened to them tells the whole story. They say that Hamas is collapsing from within, the prices they pay are very heavy," Gallant says following an assessment at the 98th Division's headquarters.

"These actions also led to the fact that we are going to eliminate everyone who was involved in the events of October 7, the junior [officials], the senior ones. and the very senior ones, who were inside [Israel] or who gave instructions," he says.

He says the IDF will continue fighting until they reach all of the terrorists in the Gaza Strip.

"In the last few days, we have also seen very great progress, both in the terrorists in the field, and with regard to more senior commanders, even very senior ones," Gallant adds, referring to the IDF's operations at Shifa Hospital, where more than 500 members of terror groups have been captured and some 200 have been killed, including several senior commanders.

Difficult to tell but the target of the attack may have been a Saar 6 class corvett that appears to be docked adjacent to the area that is hit by a drone in Eilat, Israel tonight. If true, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq was meters away from achieving a hit on the Israeli navy.
