As much as I hate Shepard Smith...he is reporting that NO water has been put on it to even try to bring it under control. WTF??? It has been burning for over 2 hours and no water?

RB, again, given the materials and structure, you WON'T see hoses on the roof or the rest of the building. The construction methods for this building (as well as Hagia Sofia comes to mind) doesn't lend itself to fire fighting. That building was like a carefully laid fire....of 800 year old wood, and MANY layers of many kinds of paint accelerant.

Just damn ;(

Adding salt to the wound is that there are a few competing theories on who, how and why.

I was there in the late 80's. Indescribable.

Sigh. When I imagine a French Fire Brigade...somehow I default to the mind-picture of a Charlie Chaplin comedy (of errors).

I've seen French FireFighters handle LeMans racers. They're at LEAST as advanced as we are here in the US, tech speaking.

The ****ing french are beyond worthless, stupid "beta" bastards, the only thing they're prepared for is their ultimate demise from failing to prepare for everything else, morons.

NEW WAVE OF TERROR ISIS plotting to copy Bataclan nightclub Paris terror attack in chilling new campaign of massacre
Details of the chilling plans were discovered on a hard drive dropped by a militant in Syria

ISIS are plotting to recreate the Paris terror attacks as they plan a fresh wave of carnage across Europe and the Middle East.

Chilling documents detail plans for terror attacks in Europe, funded and controlled by ISIS leaders.

Details of the plans to "spread horror in the hearts of the enemies of Allah" were discovered on a hard drive dropped by a militant in the Syrian desert earlier this year.

Despite the murderous group being "eliminated" from Syria last month, the documents reveal how ISIS continues to run international networks, move fighters over borders, pay for operations and plan bank robberies, vehicle attacks, assassinations and computer hacking.

The documents, unearthed by the Sunday Times, show how operations abroad will be directed by ISIS member Abu Khabab al-Muhajir.

They say he controls an ISIS cell in Russia and two in Germany. Another group will be based in north-eastern Syria under separate command.

The aim would be to first steal money by "hacking banks" or "bank robberies" and then carry out attacks including vehicle-ramming operations.

The letter, signed by six ISIS commanders and addressed to the jihadists' leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, refers to the Paris attacks of 2015 and the "Manhattan attack" in October 2017 as inspiration.

Transnational networks from Germany to Russia and Syria would help with the flow of fighters and money across borders, the letters show.

To help pay for the operations and networks, the six ISIS commanders ask Abu Bakr for £7,600.

'SPREAD HORROR'
In another letter, sent in December last year, an ISIS member called Abu Taher al-Tajiki writes to Abu Bakr: "We will tell you here in our letter the targets that we will hit, Allah willing, and they are targets that will destroy the economic world in Europe and spread horror in the hearts of the enemies of Allah."

He said one target was a high-speed train in Germany. The second was an oil pipeline near Basel, on the border with France.

So sad, I had hope for their historic pipe organ but now it looks like it is also gone.

My son (as some of you know) is an organ student at Mercer University, and because of him we are members of the Atlanta Guild of Organists.

Through that organization, we learned, ALMOST EXACTLY ONE MONTH ago (edited to correct date), on MARCH 17, that the Cathedral of St. Sulpice in Paris ALSO was "mysteriously" set on fire.

In that case, fire engines doused the fire and the church (and historic organ) though damaged, were saved.

I believe we may have talked about it here on TB.

Pics from THAT fire--almost EXACTLY 1 MONTH ago (March 17):

Paris’ historical Saint-Sulpice church has been damaged by the blaze which was bursting though the doors of the 19th Century building. The cause of the fire is unknown.
Firefighters were sent to deal with the blaze early on Sunday afternoon, Le Parisien reported. According to the newspaper, the wooden doors were on fire, and a stained glass window was damaged. The rest of the damage “seems minor,” the daily paper said.

Dramatic footage shared on social media shows the interior of the church in flames, with smoke billowing up to its arched roof. From outside, video footage shows firefighters hosing down the burning doors.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.

Constructed between 1646 and 1870, the Church of Saint-Sulpice is the second largest church in Paris, behind the Cathedral of Notre-Dame.

Not an acceptable response in my opinion.

The Paris fire dept had no problem putting out the fire in the Church of St. Sulpice in Paris two months ago!

Does anyone know how easy it would be for an arsonist to gain access to a place like this?

I've only been to Westminster in London...that seemed fairly well watched, though not airtight security...

Again--ONE MONTH AGO (almost to the DAY) the SECOND-LARGEST Church in Paris was set on fire---NO CAUSE ever reported as to how it happened.

TODAY---the LARGEST CATHEDRAL in Paris.

Coincidence?

LIKE HELL!

CBS reporting ALL of the cathedral now on fire after the spire fell.

My concern at this point would be the nearby buildings...
