“Detectives are aware of a Latah County Sheriff’s Office incident of the report of a skinned dog and have determined it is unrelated to this incident,” the city of Moscow Police Department said in a press release.
The police department’s statement comes after news reports about the 12-year-old mini Australian shepherd death in the community on Oct. 21 that led locals to wonder if it was tied to the quadruple homicide.
The pet’s owner, Pamela Colbert, told Fox News Digital Monday that she was told by a Latah County Sheriff’s Office supervisor the skinning wasn’t done by an animal.
“This was a human that did this,” she said she was told.
Moscow police also made clear Monday that a case of other dead animals left on a resident’s property was not tied to the murders of victims Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21.
“Detectives are also aware of a Moscow Police incident of the report of deceased animals left on a resident’s property,” the department said. “This was determined to be wildlife activity and unrelated to the incident.”

As police are still searching for a suspect, Chapin was remembered in his hometown in Washington state Monday.
Hundreds came to McIntyre Hall in Mount Vernon, Washington to remember the young man who attended the University of Idaho with his two other triplets, according to reports.
“Today, we’re here to honor the life and legacy of our son and brother, Ethan Chapin — one of the most incredible people you will ever know,” Stacy Chapin said outside the memorial Monday afternoon, according to Fox News Digital.
Ethan Chapin joined the Sigma Chi fraternity along with his other brother, according to his obituary.

That's the first tier or circle of suspects they'd rule out, but. . . the more facts come in, the more, NOT fewer, plausible suspects and theories come to mind.
Some rumours harvested today are that we're all on the wrong track and should ask what happened that night at the fraternity :: shrug ::. Personally I can't move past the sight-line from the tree shrouded parking lot, multiplex apt units, and that third floor balcony and windows into the gals rooms.
Have you poked around the MURDER ACCOUNTABILITY database? It might be interesting. That old stabbing death of the student by professor was at 112 something or another street, and this stabbing murder is 1122 King- and the two addies are: 1.2 miles apart.

Still, that means there are at least TWO active nutcases running around that area... not exactly reassuring!
I suspect their original reassurances that "there was no danger" to others in the community was based on assumptions made from the mode and method of the killings. Stabbing is a "personal" crime. Stabbing with a large knife brought to the scene by the perp tends to be *very* personal. Depending on the amount of "overkill " (continuing to stab after the victim is incapacitated and dead or dying) usually indicates immense rage... *usually * towards the victim.
So, their first reassurances were "normal"... but very likely incorrect in this case. Which could mean there is a very unstable, rage filled maniac running around the area... and that type rarely stops at one incident.
If my kid was attending that school, (especially a girl), we'd be transferring somewhere else.

I might be misremembering, but I thought officials finally issued a statement saying people need to be careful, we don’t know if this is an isolated incident yet?
That was the updated version... the original statements for at least the first 72 hours was "don't worry, this was an isolated incident"... at the time, many of us were wondering if they had a strong suspect to be that certain.
Now it appears to be typical baseless reassurances to keep the sheeple calm.

Police investigating the brutal slaughter of four University of Idaho students appear to be searching for a “Rambo”-style knife in the slayings, a local store owner said.
Moscow Building Supply general manager Scott Jutte told the Idaho Statesman that a police officer stopped by the retailer more than once this week to inquire about the possible sale of a KA-BAR brand combat blade.
“They were specifically asking whether or not we carry KA-BAR-style knives, which we do not,” Jutte told the paper. “If we did, we could’ve reviewed surveillance footage. But it wasn’t something I could help them with.”
He said the tactical knives used by US Marines in the 1940s are “similar to the knife Rambo has,” Jutte added, referring to the Vietnam vet character famously played by Sylvester Stallone.
“(KA-BAR) is more of a combat knife. It’s not really something that we specialize in,” added Jutte, who said his store sells mostly hunting knives.

News about the knife comes after Moscow Police Chief James Fry provided an update about the shocking crime, saying a murder weapon has not yet been found.
The murders of Ethan Chapin, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, rocked the school community and prompted many students to vacate campus ahead of Thanksgiving break.
No suspect or motive has been determined in the slayings.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that another incident involving a knife at the University of Idaho occurred in September when campus security sent out a so-called “Vandal Alert” to staff and students, Fox News reported.
Using the subject line “Threat with Knife,” the alert from Sept. 12 read: “The Moscow Police Department received a report that a group of students was walking between the Steam Plant parking lot (Lot #14) and the Student Recreation Center on Paradise Path and were threatened by a person with a knife,” according to the news outlet.
“No individual was harmed in the incident, but campus community members are advised to be cautious,” added the alert, which a concerned parent shared with Fox News Digital.

The four victims were all friends at the college.
The suspect was described as a man between the ages of 18 and 22, wearing black clothes and a black baseball cap, and riding a mountain bike.
Police declined to comment to Fox News about the incident, whether the suspect was caught, or whether the incident could be connected to the gruesome murder that occurred about a mile away.
“I have no information on that at this time,” Dahlinger told Fox News Digital, which said a school spokesperson didn’t immediately return a request for comment.

In his update Wednesday, Fry said two roommates were inside the off-campus home where the four students were found dead and that the 911 call wasn’t made until hours later.
He also backtracked about how concerned the community should be about an ongoing threat after authorities originally said the public was not in danger following the quadruple homicide.
There are so many copies and ”off-brands” of the Ka-bar “combat knife,” that it’s virtually useless as a descriptor. I have had many Ka-Bars over the last fifty plus years, and until recently, they’ve been my favorite knives. 1095 HCS or D2 steel, they’re excellent blades. Nowadays? TOPS Knives Wild Pig Hunter is more my preference. Does that mean that the Ka-bar is not as good? No, but technique paired with intended usage does dictate a change for me. I’ll always stand by American Made, and both Ka-bar and TOPS are exactly that- with all the qualities and value thereof.
Back to the now generic label, “Ka-bar…” Think of the term “assault rifle.” WTF is that? For the illiterati,
an AK-47/74, M4/AR15, or any other semi-automatic/fully automatic shoulder weapon, is/may be, an assault rifle. So too, could be a fancy stocked Ruger 10/22 semi-auto .22LR rifle. When it comes to weapons, firearms or edged, first reports are often wrong.
The “Ka-bar” knife in the article may be a cheap ChiCom knock-off, a Cold Steel, or any other copy or approximation. IF the LEOs know it’s a Ka-bar, someone has talked, seen another or others with one, or it’s a flight of fancy. The ubiquitous Ka-bar is as common as cars solid white or black. People often remember the “color,” rather than the type and make. This may be the case.

MOSCOW, Idaho — Moscow police have provided new details in the investigation of four murdered University of Idaho students on Nov. 13, 2022.
In their latest update, Moscow police revealed a sixth person is listed on the lease at the King Road home where the four students were killed. However, they do not believe this person was at the house at the time. Detectives do not believe they are connected to the murders.
Moscow Police also released the following information:
- Detectives are aware of a sixth person listed on the lease at the residence. They have spoken to this individual and confirmed they moved out prior to the start of the school year and was not present at the time of the incident. Detectives do not believe this person has any involvement in the murders.
- There has been extensive media interest regarding an incident at Taylor Avenue and Band Field on November 13, 2022, at 3:01 a.m. This incident was an alcohol offense which was addressed by the on-scene officer. This call is not related to the murder investigations. For further details regarding this incident, a Moscow Police Department Public Records Request can be submitted referencing incident number 22-MO9896.
- We remain consistent in our belief that this was a targeted attack, but investigators have not concluded if the target was the residence or if it was the occupants.
In a release sent on Wednesday evening, Moscow police stated that the Latah County Prosecutor's identification of the case as a targeted attack was a miscommunication. Moscow police say detectives do not currently know if any of the occupants of the house on King Road were specifically targeted, but they are continuing to investigate.
Police said they will continue to release information that does not hinder the ongoing investigation into the murders. At this time, there is still not suspect.

Anything is possible, I suppose. Still my rule o' thumb is to find out who loved a woman who ends up dead, and ask em what she did that caused them to have to kill her. In this instance I'd add on the ? of what the others did to get in the way and require also being killed.
..Not that I can believe Jack D. is likely to have been the perp, and able to avoid arrest for this length of time.
Still, he and the food court guy are poster boys for the ages and life events one would expect to see in a perp, but are on the "cleared" list so. .
Still, I'd still not be concerned about the dad's connections, given how small minded, jealous, and spiteful people are. Given the healthy, happy and successful lives the victims were living, the overkill and evidence at the scene that they've not spoken directly to, but referenced in their assessments that the victims or house were targeted, I'd be expecting to find an envy killer or someone who was rejected, convinced they were smarter, better, more deserving etc

A former Federal Bureau of Investigation detective says that hair follicles of the suspect in a quadruple homicide on Nov. 13 near the University of Idaho may lead authorities closer to making an arrest as forensic testing of evidence is beginning to be shared with authorities.
Ethan Chapin, 20; Xana Kernodle, 20; Madison Mogen, 21; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, all University of Idaho students, were killed during the early morning hours of Nov. 13 between 3 and 4 a.m. and police have not yet identified a suspect. Police say the victims were stabbed multiple times, with some showing signs of defensive wounds based on an autopsy conducted by the Latah County Coroner.
Authorities recovered over 113 pieces of "physical evidence" from the crime scene, which was sent to the Idaho State Police Forensic Services crime lab. Idaho State Police Communications Director Aaron Snell told Fox News Digital on Wednesday that investigators have begun to receive results from forensic testing of some evidence.
Former FBI special agent Jonathan Gilliam told Fox News Digital that if the suspect left hair follicles at the crime scene, it could help lead investigators to a potential suspect.
"If [the attacker is] standing over them and he's stabbing ferociously, then he could have hair follicles that could fall off, his own skin could shed on there, if he cut himself and it bled on her. If they do their collection diligently, then they will find those particles of DNA, and then they'll have that," Gilliam commented as authorities begin to receive results from forensic testing.
Gilliam noted that DNA testing is a "very detailed exercise" that takes time to process, adding that authorities are likely working through a process of elimination.
"So many people were in there, the fact that they're young people means the DNA may not come back to anything," Gilliam said. "But with a house like that and you're talking about 10 to 40 people a week and even more, there's a tremendous amount of of DNA that is repeated. Already right there, you're looking at 50 different people, strands of DNA."
"They're going to get those, separate those, and then try to see if they can place those with somebody," he added.

Ugh, this murder case is so disturbing. I do not believe anything that officials are putting out there to the public. I do believe it was a male person that committed these murders but I also wonder if a jealous female put him up to it. There was some talk early on of a stalker as well as an interview that purportedly suggested, by an Aunt of a victim, that jealousy may have been an issue. And no, I cannot reference anything to say what I read/heard to reference why I feel this way. Consider murder for hire. If there was a jealous sorority sister could she have put her "man of the hour" up to killing these four for personal gain or vengeance? The police want to assure the public that this murder of four was targeted, I see the possibility of a vengeful and conniving female possibly behind this heinous slaughter and therefore would not look at the usual suspects at this point. Women and young female children can be brutal and do kill. Just something to think about.

I still say the jilted former BF. He and her family are in total denial that she switched teams. The calls to him before the murders were due to him showing up to the house and catching his former girlfriend and her best friend turned new girlfriend in bed together (one of the girls fathers confirmed they were in the same bed when killed) and storming off to lose his mind. Only to return within an hour or so.

Kaylee Goncalves, 21, had more brutal injuries than her close friend Madison Mogen, also 21, which investigators believe might be an important piece of evidence.
Brian Entin of NewsNation confirmed the update in a special report on Sunday in Moscow, Idaho, where the horrific stabbings took place on November 13.
Goncalves and Mogen were stabbed along with Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin, both 20.
Chapin had been visiting the residence at the time of the attack and there were two other roommates who were home but have since been ruled out as suspects.
Goncalves and Mogen were reportedly sleeping in the same bed in an upstairs room, meaning the killer had to specifically go into their room to commit the act.
Former CIA and FBI agent Tracy Walder expressed the possibility of a “targeted attack” when speaking to NewsNation.
“I have been saying for a while and that some of the ways that we can know that this is a targeted attack is in the manner in which some of these victims were killed,” said Walder.

CONTINUED FRUSTRATIONS
Much of the public, including the families of the victims, remains upset about the progress that Moscow police have made in their investigation.
Steven Goncalves, the father of Kaylee, has also claimed that his daughter's means of death do not match the other three victims.
Goncalves has already leaked much information about the case in interviews, and he told Fox News on December 3 that the details he has been given surrounding Kaylee's death aren't conclusive.
"I'll cut to the chase – their means of death don't match," Goncalves told interviewer Lawrence Jones.
"Their points of damage don't match," he continued.
"I'm just going to say it. It wasn't leaked to me. I earned that. I paid for that funeral. … I sent my daughter to college. She came back in a box, and I can speak on that."
Goncalves also claimed that his daughter and Madison Mogen were sleeping in the same bed on the second floor the night of the attack.
Kristi Goncalves, the mother of Kaylee, has also detailed her annoyances with how the case has progressed thus far to Fox News.
"We just have no information as a family. And it's tough, day after day after day," she said.
"I mean, every day you just wake up and think, 'Today's the day we're going to hear something,' and you see these, 'Oh, there's a break in the case,' and it'll just be something stupid."
In the official report posted by the Moscow Police Department on December 3, they received almost 3,000 calls and another 3,000 emails for tips and information about the case thus far.
They also have about 4,000 photographs from the crime scene.
Still, no information has been definitive enough to identify a suspect.

I didn't post anything at first because I didn't want to assume but it was the only thing that made sense with the FBI being called in almost instantaneously (other than some organized crime connect). The parents were WAY too quick to support the ex as innocent.

Jack D- the on again off again ex- would certainly be in the first tier of those ruled out as suspects. You'd have to believe that within 12 or so hours of killing four people, in a very physically demanding fashion, he was able to sit across from FBI interviewer, and hide his emotional and physical tells of the event. I'm not privy to any of the facts re: that initial interview, but I'm confident he'd have been presented the "opportunity" to go ahead and take off his shirt, or roll up his sleeves and "lets just get those silly questions ruled out right now, coz I know you're grieving and need your focus to be there etc etc etc. .. "
The two girls sleeping together may have been because Kaylee had only come back for the weekend to show off her car, and was already lined up for a EU trip, and new job in TX. For every factor that raises a red flag, there are exculpatory factors that eases ones mind.
As to the FBI being on scene so soon, they happen to have a presence there, and the sheer amount of digital forensics, and the fact that the community is, by definition, extremely transitory, would explain that.
..Now, if we're circling back to those "cleared" folk, I'd want to look at Jack S. again. He's the one who lawyered up. He's the one that is, or is rumoured to be, in Africa, he is the one who got expelled from a fraternity, he is the one who has pics on the web of successful hunts, with knives laying on the ground.

Uh, if it is a rental, individual locks on bedroom doors is a no-no per HUD rules/inspections. I'm not sure what the inspections rules are in Idaho, or their city rules, but I assume they have to have some kind of certificate of occupancy/rental certificate, etc. Even in the wild west of FL's rental market most counties require some kind of rental certificate and/or inspection. In Hillsborough County it is called "Rent It Right". Temple Terrace's was/is run through the Fire Department. The Tampa Housing Authority (Section 8 and all other federal/HUD programs) uses CGI as their inspection arm.

I would not be living in any shared rental with a bunch of sorority gadabouts (with no blinds on their balcony bedroom windows) but if I had the misfortune, I would probably have multiple locks added on the inside of the bedroom. Partyhouses are notorious for items disappearing, that blender brought to the kitchen for all to use ends up at the pawn shop to finance someone's dope addiction. This is opening up a can of worms about the whole city.

Most college apt. buildings have a specific type who work as cheap janitorial and maintenance. They often get reduced or free rent in one unit in exchange for landscaping, snow removal.

Serial killer police are really really worried right now and don’t wanna admit it & freak the community out even more so than already. Crime scene has something weird in it too.. that’s why we know absolutely nothing about it cuz killer will only know what weird thing he did. I also saw a comment on another video from someone that lives in Moscow and he said that he believes it’s someone that lives on a farm just outside of town that crossed paths at a bar or something similar. I believe he was watching them from that back parking lot he noticed them a while ago and had been watching the back windows on & off when he waited for like a month from that back parking lot with some tree cover. wasn’t focused on the 2 1st floor bedrooms from the back of the house. If he has a criminal record, it might be for assault as in a bar fight, or maybe some sexual harassment, stalking charges. Killer may have been stalking one of the three women murdered. 1 day agoThe couple that was stabbed while they slept, the wife survived being stabbed 19 times. Her husband did not survive. This occurred in Salem Oregon on the June13th, 2021. Sandra Ladd, 72 year old woman, in Washogal Washington, was also stabbed to death on Feburary 13th, 2020. These horrible crimes also happened at approximately 3:00am. You can't disregard all these similarities

@Sweetie PieLo I seen a news article and a video from 2017 regarding mutilated coyotes being placed at the house that the four college kids was killed in. Someone had shot the coyotes and then mutilated the bodies . Some of the fur and body parts was placed at the back door of the home in a doggy bed there was also blood wipes on the outside of some of the windows. There was more that I honestly don't remember but I do remember it was the same exact house that these kids was killed in that happened in 2017.

Jack is JS- that hoodie guy at the Grub truck. I hated the feeling I got watching that guy. I felt like he was keeping tabs on the girls, maybe letting another guy know where and what they are doing, and when he left in a hurry went towards the direction of their house. He is from Boise and went to High School with Maddie..diffrent years, but same years as her boyfriend Jake. He and Jake also were in the same Fraternity DTD. The girls knew this guy, why the heck did they try to ignore and ditch him! There is a rumor that Ethan in a indirect way had him kicked out of his fraternity for certain anger issues and the way he was creepy with women. Ethan is from another fraternity that partied alot with Jake and Jacks frat DTD. I also saw a reddit thread that had a post from a girl who said she worked with Jack over the Summer of 21. He called her the stupidest bitch he had ever met, when she made a small mistake. She said she felt so uncomfortable that she said, "yeah" to try to make it just pass, and it put him into an angry fit. He got into her face screaming and she slapped him. She said she got written up, so there is a record of it. I don't want to put the name of the resteraunt, but you can look up the reddit thread r/idaho4.

Mothers who refer to their daughters as "hot or hotties" and encouraging it? They tend to be Gen X cougar moms.
I get the distinct impression these mothers were helping finance the party favors so their daughters would be popular on campus and host a freewheeling partyhouse atmosphere, a reputation the house already had w/previous tenants.
Reckless does not begin to describe it. They knew something was desperately wrong to send the dad down to change the doorknobs out 10 days before the carnage.
Meth is despicable and puts ALL neighbors at risk of cartel backlash in any street where this activity goes on.
Hand in hand with trafficking girls on cams and using the proceeds from frat parties to buy guns. Idiocy and aiding and abetting in the downfall of this nation.
I fully expect the other kids parents will sue the mom(s) involved moving any product for maintaining a menace house and wrongful deaths.

youtuber Harsh Reality from the UK has 10 minute update with 1000 plus comments and many chiming in saying TWO moms arrested. Xana's mom arrested the 19th.

5 days agoMaddie's stepmom was arrested for drugs on November 7. They are in the same country jail.

6 days agoI heard that the killer was there before the four showed up and that one of the roommates (possibly both) heard someone in the house and locked their doors thinking it was their roommates coming home and possibly bringing others with them. They didn't want to be bothered. They didn't think anything of hearing someone in the house because there were always people over.

about Xana's mom being arrested for drug trafficking. Guess it is now making wide circulation. I think one of the girls...there were three killed - grew up in Avondale, AZ...while two were from same town in Idaho...so I am not sure all three of the moms would be connected...unless a divorce put a parent in Idaho and she lived with her dad in Arizona? Kaylee and Maddie grew up together. Xana was from out of state...so...did not know there would be a connection beyond Kaylee and Maddie's parents...and it was clearly Xana's mom who was arrest for drugs was known about first..in the public anyway.
Also...ugh..I have kids...in college or just got out..etc..sororities..fraternities..although they are not typical. Do not drink (unimaginable I know) and one is going to join the military after they graduate with a computer science degree. They go to big known schools... I have gotten to know a lot of the parents..hear a lot of stories..there are a few drunks, etc...but we are not aware of anyone parents who have been in jail or have been arrested for drugs.. You need a high GPA and a lot on your resume to get into some of these places...so maybe it is a completely different crowd...and we are not "out west"...although we did live out west for 25 years and actually preferred living there..but things are different. I also tell them I am not paying or it unless they have a meaningful major...so...no social work or basket weaving degrees, etc..
