When to our dollar store Sunday. ..sign on door...help wanted...
Food on trolleys all over the store..can't get it stocked.
Could see where people were ripping the plastic and removing one of what they wanted...they redid the store..a few weeks ago and it has been that way since they redid it.....they did add a lot more items...
They just don't have enough help....
crazy times

It shows 6.28 for me, shipped or store pickup. Maybe they have restocked? The 36 dollar can is from outside Walmart, I generally ignore those.

I'm using the same link you posted, and it comes up just as I said. I'll go check again, unless you're using a different link than the one you posted?

Could you provide the link you are using?

Well, I went directly to Walmart.com, and they didn't show it available. Then, I went back to the link I used, yesterday, and the price was the same. If anyone can provide me with a usable link showing the price of Keystone ground beef being $6+ for the 28oz can, I'd really appreciate it.

I am not exactly sure if this is every where? But pumpkin is now on my grocery list.

Early Onset Of Pumpkin Blight Could Squash Our Thanksgiving Pie Supply
St. Louis Public Radio | By Jonathan Ahl

Phytophthora blight can create lesions on the underside of pumpkins and other vegetables that ruins the crop.

Purdue University Extension
Phytophthora blight can create lesions on the underside of pumpkins and other vegetables that ruin the crop.
A fungus that attacks vegetables has shown up early this year in Illinois, and that could threaten the availability of pumpkin pie filling at Thanksgiving.
Phytophthora blight is a vine infection that can damage vegetables including peppers, cucumbers, squash and pumpkins. It shows up most years, but this summer, heavy rains in late June and early July have made it appear early.
“After the middle of August, or close to the end of the season in September or so it’s not so bad,” said Mohammad Babadoost, a professor of plant pathology at the University of Illinois. “But this year, in the first week of July, is too much.”
Babadoost detected phytophthora in his test plot of pumpkins near Morton, Illinois. Illinois is the nation’s biggest pumpkin producer, supplying more than 90% of the canned pumpkin sold in the U.S.
Phytophthora has been responsible for wiping out entire pumpkin harvests in previous years.
“If we do not have enough processed pumpkins, we may not have enough canned pumpkin for, let’s say, Thanksgiving,” Babadoost said.
The damage can be mitigated if growers are on the lookout for it and apply fungicides, Babadoost said, but early detection is key. Early symptoms can include water-soaked spots appearing on the lower leaves of plants and on the undersides of fruit, where they touch the soil.
It’s not just commercial pumpkin growers that need to be aware. Pumpkin patches that grow the variety used for jack-o'-lanterns also need to look out for signs of the blight.
Home gardeners may also see it affect their ability to grow tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and squash.

I give up.
Went food shopping for a few things today. Got cane sugar, flour, Quaker oatmeal, raisins, cocoa, walnuts ($8.29 lb), brownie mix. It was all on sale except the walnuts. Got a few other things and the bill was around $60. Had a $12 off store coupon that was up tomorrow, so we made out pretty good.

I haven't seen walnuts on sale in years now.

Geez, i guess I am more fortunate than I realized.

I have been getting food from those long mobile food pantry lines so that I can redirect most of our food budget to paying for my wife’s lifesaving cancer treatments.

Anyway, about a month ago, a church that was running a mobile pantry gave those of us in line 4 one pound bags of USDA shelled walnuts.

Then last week, a different church gave me 12 one pound bags of USDA shelled walnuts.

That added up to 16 one pound bags of shelled walnuts in total.

In recent months we have also been given two pound bags of whole almonds and two pound bags of pistashio nuts as well.

I made my wife a big birthday brownie (made with Duncan Hines brownie mix) instead of buying an expensive birthday cake, and I was able to mix some walnuts into the batter, thanks to those donations.

I knew they weren’t cheap, but I never imagined that they would cost $8.29 plus tax each on the open market.

Barry, there is no tax on food in Florida. Glad you got such a big walnut haul.

Consider 9ven canning those nuts... they'll keep perfectly for years on the shelf.

$35.29 for one 28oz can is the price they're showing at this link. It's the same link I've been using. I don't know why this price is different from what others are seeing.

The $35 price is because its being sold by a 3'rd party vendor on the walmart site. It clearly says that if you go down a bit on the page to the sold and shipped by area.

Ok, clear your cookies and try it! Because it comes up as $6.28 a can here...

I am wondering if you are out of the Keystone shipping region.. Here in Oregon our Walmart does not carry Keystone so to have it shipped from back east is very expensive. I have been told that Walmart has distribution regions and not all products are sold for the same price per region.

Also was told by local Walm manager that if a WM is within a half a mile of a Costco the prices are lower. Found this out when servicing several within a 20 Mile radius one day

It's easy to make - real mayo, splash of white vinegar, sugar, salt & pepper. Adjust to your taste.
I've always made my own, didn't even know you could by a dressing for it. The only thing I do different from yours is to add sugar and paprika, paprika makes it taste even better.

Right in the same ad at for the 35 dollar next to it is two cans for $12. I've still got the 35 or so cans I bought last year, they last a long time and taste fine. I don't use my expensive canned meat on a regular basis, well, because its expensive, at least for me.

We went to walmart today, after we picked up commodities. I mostly wanted an air rifle, in hopes that it might help me overcome my fear of pulling the trigger.

They only had pine and a half canning jars, I bought the four that they have. DH is about to render lard again and I didn't want him using my new jars that I'm saving for emergencies in case I have to can meat out of the freezer. The jars were 9.99 a case. They had a few rings and lids, but no boxes of just lids.

The bacon ends and pieces have gone up $2, I bought a package anyway. The isle where the bacon is looked sparse, they had bacon but it was all fronted to fill up the long space. The cold cuts were few and far between, like last year. Over all the shelves looked picked over. I didn't look at the meat because I have plenty. The fresh vegetable areas looked smaller. I didn't look at the bread. I did buy a bag of avacados and a small container of spring mix.

God is good all the time

Panic!? Taco Bell And Starbucks Warn About Shortages

TUESDAY, JUL 20, 2021 - 08:08 AM
By Jonathan Maze of Restaurant Business,

Supply chain problems continue to plague the restaurant industry, leading big chains Taco Bell and Starbucks to warn consumers on Monday that some items may not be available.

Starbucks told customers on its app that "due to supply shortages, some items are temporarily unavailable."

That echoed warnings that have persisted at the chain's locations for months. Consumers have complained on social media channels about periodic shortages of items such as green tea.

At Taco Bell, customers are complaining about a lack of hot sauce. The Mexican fast-food chain's website warns customers that not all items are available at the moment.

"Sorry if we can't feed your current crave. Due to national ingredient shortages and delivery delays, we may be out of some items," an orange banner with bold lettering read on the top of Taco Bell's website.

The company, owned by Louisville, Ky.-based Yum Brands, blamed transportation problems for the shortages.

"Due to national transportation delays happening throughout most of the industry, we may be temporarily out of some items," the company said in a statement.

"Apologies for the inconvenience and we hope to feed fans' current Taco Bell cravings again soon."

Restaurants have faced shortages of everything from sauces to pickles to chicken wings in recent months due to a host of issues—including weather problems in Texas and intense demand from consumers coupled with supply limitations.

But transportation issues have made matters worse. An economywide lack of drivers has made it difficult for companies to deliver goods to their destination.
Rick Cardenas, president of Olive Garden owner Darden Restaurants, told investors last month that any supply chain issues his company has is over warehousing and transportation problems and not an actual shortage of supplies.

"The few spot outages we have are due to warehouse staffing and driver shortages, not product availability," Cardenas said, according to a transcript on the financial services site Sentieo.

* * *
... and, of course, those who frequent Taco Bell have been all over social media voicing their outrage at how they can't purchase their favorite menu items.
"Taco Bell employee told me there was a 'national shortage of everything right now,' and I have decided to get my economic news exclusively from drive-thru employees from now on," tweeted one patron.

"Taco Bell has a 'district-wide shortage of hot sauce...times are tough," tweeted a customer.

Another said:

"Due to national ingredient shortages and delivery delays, we may be out of some food and beverage items," a sign at a Taco Bell drive-thru read.

Also, a "shredded cheese shortage"?

Others say they're "about to freak out."

Rough times in America when consumers are used to the instant gratification of obtaining almost any item or service at their fingertips. Shortages are pushing some to the edge of insanity over petty things, like fast-food tacos.

Day by day
We did some grocery shopping today. At Aldi's, we got the last flat (12 cans) of black olives. There were a few cans left on the shelf afterward. Canned pears and peaches were in short supply...very short. I was only going to get one flat of each, but DH was concerned at the low supplies, so we got 2 flats of each. That left about a flat and a half of each on the shelf. Canned corn, they didn't have their brand, but instead had half a dozen cans of an older US brand I can't recall the name of, began with an S.

HEB was out of Nabisco graham crackers in the fresh stack pkg, had some of the regular size (not many). They still had their signs posted limiting chicken product to 2. Kroger didn't have the fresh stack pkgs of graham crackers either, and not many of the others. Sugar was very low in HEB, and Kroger had a bit more but not much.

Both stores were very busy mid-day, which is pretty unusual for a week day. Lots of very full grocery carts going by. People are paying attention.

I'll get Cary to try and order from his PC, tomorrow. I don't know the first thing about clearing cookies. I can't place an order before tomorrow, anyway.

If you have a vacuum sealer, you can vacuum pack those nuts in canning jars and they will keep a good 5 years on the shelf. I keep some in the freezer and some on the shelf for longer term storage.

That's what it comes up for me too.

Cary tried to order this morning using his own PC. It is still listing the same price for him. I'm wondering if your personal location has anything to do with the difference in price? $35.29 is still the price. He changed browsers, and it still came up the same.

Just tried a different computer, AND a different browser.

When clicking on link in post #1039 it comes up 35.29 for ONE

When clearing that off and doing a search at walmart.com NO ground beef comes up at all, and the beef is sold out. Only Turkey and Pork in stock.
