One person was killed and over 100 have been injured/rescued in traffic accidents across South Korea’s northeast due to heavy drifting snow, reported the koreaherald.com on Tuesday.

Snarled traffic due to snow in NE South Korea, Tuesday, March 2.

The higher elevations of Gangwon Province received 3-feet (90cm) of snow in a 24-hour period between Monday and Tuesday afternoon, according to local authorities — and the inclement weather soon lead to traffic accidents and multiple casualties across the province.

A man in his 50s was killed after he was hit by a car on a snowy highway near Seoul, and a further 66 people taken to hospitals, with 45 more rescued from their cars after being trapped in accumulating global warming goodness.

Hundreds of cars were trapped on Donghae Expressway on Monday due to a complete road closure, with many sections still blocked for a second day on Tuesday.

Military personnel were sent in to assist.

Some residents left their cars at home and walked to work Tuesday morning (now that’s commitment), while many others could be seen shoveling pow-pow outside their homes and businesses.

Authorities mobilized 1,096 workers and 955 pieces of equipment to remove snow across the province, according to the koreaherald.com article, with the local government of Yangyang providing blankets and food for 1,530 people, and the Korea Expressway Corp. sending 320 liters of fuel to stranded drivers.

The recent record-breaking March snow will only add to the already above-average Total Snow Mass for the Northern Hemisphere, which currently stands at 700 Gigatons above 1982-2012 norms (as of March 1):

THE UK, SCANDINAVIA AND THE ALPS BRACE FOR A MID-MONTH BURIAL

Central and Western Europe’s 10-days of “catastrophic global heating” is set to come to an abrupt end, forecasters have said, with Arctic air due to return unusually-low latitudes beginning Thursday, March 4.

Freezing temperatures will impact Norway, Sweden and northern parts of the UK by the end of this week, with the chill of Solar Minimum predicted to have spread as far south as north Africa by Saturday, March 6.

Heavy out-of-season snow will accompany the chill, with the UK, Scandinavia and the Alps forecast to be worst hit — Norway and the Alps will be measuring accumulations in the meters, while the UK could easily see a foot by mid-March.

Even Morocco is set for some impressive spring totals.

And Iceland –where a magma injection has just been confirmed beneath Krýsuvík volcano– should also expect disruptive totals.

GFS Total Snowfall (cm) thru March 16 [tropicaltidbits.com].

It also isn’t yet clear exactly how far Russia’s debilitating mass of polar cold will traverse westwards.

That widespread blob of below-average cold (shown below), which has been causing record lows/snows and untold misery across Siberia since mid-Dec, is threatening to engulf Finland, Latvia, Belarus and the Ukraine to the west:

GFS 2m Temp Anomalies March 6 [tropicaltidbits.com].

UK temperatures aren’t expected to reach double-figures (Celsius) again until at least March 23, and looking further ahead, Met Office forecaster Graham Madge –who’s agency regularly labels snow a thing of the past– has told SomersetLive that flakes could even be falling in April.

England is in its third COVID-19 lockdown.

People are only allowed out of their homes for essential reasons such as exercise. These draconian restrictions were made even trickier over the past 10-or-so-days due to the UK’s brief burst of “catastrophic global heating”–police were routinely breaking up gatherings at parks and beaches, and handing out fines of as much as £10,000 for those found breaking the rules in temps a slightly above average.

Heavy-handed orders laid down by a WHO-pandering government currently allow each person outdoor exercise once per day, close to home, by themselves or with their household, one other person or a support bubble, but stopping to sit down on a bench “for a long period of time” remains against the law. Mercifully, from March 8, people will be permitted to be outside for recreational purposes with members of their household or with one other person –thank you UK government– oh, and that looks like it’ll be just in time for folks to freeze their arses off, too.

In my opinion, for whatever it’s worth, this summer will see a wide-scale relaxing of the life-inhibiting COVID rules; however, influential world bodies such as the WEF are already calling for similar restrictions to be put in place to combat our invisible friend “climate change” — they want you off the streets, locked in your homes, banned from driving, prevented from migrating, prohibited from eating meat, and forbidden from owning anything (look up their manifesto, its all in there)

…the question remains, why?

What the hell are they preparing us all for?

The COLD TIMES are returning, the mid-latitudes are REFREEZING in line with the great conjunction, historically low solar activity, cloud-nucleating Cosmic Rays, and a meridional jet stream flow (among other forcings).

Both NOAA and NASA appear to agree, if you read between the lines, with NOAA saying we’re entering a ‘full-blown’ Grand Solar Minimum in the late-2020s, and NASA seeing this upcoming solar cycle (25) as “the weakest of the past 200 years”, with the agency correlating previous solar shutdowns to prolonged periods of global cooling here.

Furthermore, we can’t ignore the slew of new scientific papers stating the immense impact The Beaufort Gyre could have on the Gulf Stream, and therefore the climate overall.

Ash propelled that high (into the stratosphere) could cool the planet.
___________

If above-water volcanic activity is increasing, is underwater volcanic activity also increasing? If so, that would heat the oceans. The warmer waters would lead to more evaporation and therefore more moisture rising into the skies.

More moisture rising into the skies- skies cooled by the above-ground eruptions – leads to more snow, and there you have it, instantaneous ice age.

Warmer oceans and colder skies – a recipe for disaster.

Sumatra’s incredibly active Sinabung Volcano exploded in spectacular fashion to 40,000 feet (12.2 km) again yesterday, March 2, sending volcanic ash high into the atmosphere and depositing ash on nearby villages.

Activity at the volcano in North Sumatra province increased over the past week, with authorities recording 13 times when it released ash clouds.

According to volcano.si.edu, Sinabung woke in 2010 after centuries of quiescence. However, that 2010 phase turned out to be a mere precursor to the long and powerful episode which began on Sept 5, 2013 and ran until Jul 15, 2018 which qualified as a VEI 4.

The 2,600-metre (8,530-foot) Sinabung had been inactive for four centuries before the 2010 eruptedion, killing two people. Another eruption in 2014 killed 17 people, while seven died in a 2016 eruption.

A year later Mount Sinabung fired back into life, in May, 2019.

This latest eruption (beginning on March 2) ranks as one of the largest in years, rivaling the 55,000 footer of June 9, 2020.

Northern Sumatra is part of Indonesia, which consists of 17,500 islands and is prone to volcanic eruptions and earthquakes because of its location within the so-called “Ring of Fire” — a series of fault lines stretching from the Western Hemisphere through Japan and Southeast Asia.

storm

The beginning of March brought some harsh winter conditions to Atlantic Canada, particularly in Newfoundland, which was hit hard Tuesday.

The intense winter storm that powered through the Maritimes Monday -- the first day of meteorological spring -- also delivered a swift dose of heavy snow, howling winds and blizzard conditions to Newfoundland Tuesday.

Because of the storm, most government offices and municipal services were either delayed with opening or closed for the day early Tuesday. Conditions quickly began to deteriorate Monday overnight and into the pre-dawn hours Tuesday morning.

Sections of the Trans-Canada Highway were also closed on the west coast, with drivers being urged to postpone travel until conditions improved. Some drivers had became stranded on the roads. Several flights and ferry crossings were cancelled, as well.

Winds were forecast to hit gusts of 80-100+ km/h, which made for dangerous travel from blizzard conditions that led to poor visibilities on the road.

Some areas in Newfoundland were forecast to receive 20-30+ cm of snow by the time the system moved out. Conditions have since improved across most of the island, but heavy snow and intense winds are lingering in northern sections and across Labrador -- bringing more treacherous travel through Wednesday. Parts of Labrador are in line to see 40-50+ cm of snow by the time the system finally departs Thursday.

New Study Warns: Magnetic Catastrophe that Wiped Out the Neanderthals is Due to Hit Again
Robert W. Felix

Finally! Mainstream science is beginning to catch up with me. A new study just published in Science magazine makes it appear that the very thought of a magnetic reversal causing an extinction is a brand new idea. But if you’ve read either of my books; Not by Fire but by Ice or Magnetic Reversals and Evolutionary Leaps, you know that I’ve been speaking and writing about just such a scenario for more than 20 years.

“New research suggests a polar flip could be catastrophic,” reads the headline on msm.com.

“A global environmental crisis 42,000 years ago,” declares Science magazine.

“Ancient relic points to a turning point in Earth’s story 42,000 years ago,” echoes the University of New South Wales (UNSW).

“Magnetic Madness: Magnetic catastrophe ‘that wiped out Neanderthals’ is due to happen AGAIN, scientists warn,” shouts The Sun.

“Flipping of Poles and Collapse of Earth’s Magnetic Field Led to Neanderthals’ Extinction, Study Says,” enthuses Sputnik News.

And finally, from NPR: “Ancient Trees Show When The Earth’s Magnetic Field Last Flipped Out.”

Whatever the title, each of these articles speaks of the crisis that ensued the last time the Earth’s magnetic poles exchanged places. New research suggests that a magnetic reversal roughly 42,000 years ago caused dramatic changes on Earth and “possibly changed the course of human history.”

The study focused on an extremely old tree found in New Zealand, a kauri tree. Giant kauri trees can live for thousands of years and can end up well preserved in bogs. “The trees themselves are quite unique,” says co-lead author Professor Alan Cooper. “They’re a time capsule in a way that you don’t really get anywhere else in the world.”

“For the first time ever, we have been able to precisely date the timing and environmental impacts of the last magnetic pole switch,” said co-lead author Chris Turney, an earth scientist at the University of New South Wales, in a UNSW statement. “Using the ancient trees we could measure, and date, the spike in atmospheric radiocarbon levels caused by the collapse of Earth’s magnetic field.”

Inside the old kauri tree, which was still growing when “the most recent magnetic pole flip occurred some 42,000 years ago,” the researchers looked for a form of radioactive carbon (carbon-14) created when cosmic rays hit the upper atmosphere. More cosmic rays rain onto our planet when its magnetic field is weak, so carbon-14 levels shoot up. (I don’t agree that it was “the most recent magnetic pole flip.” See more toward the end of this article.)

The tree, with its calendar-like set of rings, took in this carbon-14 (14C) and preserved it. By studying the rings of the long-dead but well-preserved tree, the scientists obtained a detailed record of approximately 1,700 years. They could see exactly when 14C levels rose, when they peaked, and when they fell again.

By creating a precise timeline, the team was able to compare the magnetic field’s weakening to other well-established timelines in archaeological and climate records.

An analysis of the rings suggested that it was a challenging time for all living things on Earth and “hints at dramatic and possibly catastrophic changes that took place in the atmosphere and on the surface of our planet.”

“This record reveals a substantial increase in the carbon-14 content of the atmosphere culminating during the period of weakening magnetic field strength preceding the polarity switch,” the article in Science explains. “The authors modeled the consequences of this event and concluded that the geomagnetic field minimum caused substantial changes in atmospheric ozone concentration that drove synchronous global climate and environmental shifts.”

If the sun went through one of its periodic conniptions (Grand Solar Minimums) when the strength of the Earth’s magnetic field was turned way down, says Cooper, a solar flare or storm would have sent a burst of radiation that could have had massive consequences for people living back then. (It looks like we may be headed into such a Grand Solar Minimum right now.)

With the Earth’s cosmic shield essentially disappearing, it would have driven life on Earth into caves to protect themselves. “We think that the sharp increases in UV levels, particularly during solar flares, would suddenly make caves very valuable shelters,” says Cooper. “This is what we think actually drove them (the Neanderthals) into caves.” Red skies. Possibly lots of lightning. “You would not want to be outside during daylight hours.”

“It must have seemed like the end of days,” Cooper said.

Earth’s magnetic field is vital to all life on the planet because it protects the ozone layer from solar winds, cosmic rays, and harmful radiation. When the field weakens the Earth becomes bathed in ultraviolet radiation and this in turn damages the ozone layer. The scientists believe the magnetic excursion may have even altered the climate and triggered the extinction of many species. (As you know if you’ve ever read ” Magnetic Reversals and Evolutionary Leaps,” I think the radiation would have also lead to rapid mutations [most of which would have been abject failures]).

“We really think actually there’s quite considerable impacts going on here,” says Cooper. “If you damage the ozone layer, as we’ve found out, you change the way in which the sun’s heat actually impacts the Earth. And as soon as you start doing that, you change weather patterns because wind directions and heating goes AWOL, goes all over the place.”

Until now, scientists have mostly assumed that magnetic field reversals didn’t matter much for life on Earth — although some geologists have noted that die-offs of large mammals seemed to occur in periods when the Earth’s magnetic field was weak.

“From what we know about field strength through time, over the last hundred thousand years,” agrees James Channell, a geologist at the University of Florida, “there does appear to be a linkage between extinctions and low geomagnetic field strength.”

This particular magnetic reversal, known as the Laschamp excursion, is named after lava flows in France. Those lava flows contain bits of iron that basically point the wrong way. Volcanic activity during the Laschamp excursion produced this distinctive iron signature because as the lava cooled through the Curie temperature it locked the bits of iron in place. Iron molecules embedded in sediments around the world also captured a record of this excursion.

“The Laschamps Excursion was the last time the magnetic poles flipped,” explained Professor Turney. “They swapped places for about 800 years before changing their minds and swapping back again.” (Again, I don’t agree that it was “the last time the magnetic poles flipped.”)

“Even though it (the excursion) was short, the North Pole did wander across North America, right out towards New York, actually, and then back again across to Oregon,” says Alan Cooper, an evolutionary biologist with Blue Sky Genetics and the South Australian Museum. Cooper explains that the North Pole “then zoomed down through the Pacific really fast to Antarctica and hung out there for about 400 years and then shot back up through the Indian Ocean to the North Pole again.”

During that time, the Earth’s magnetic-field strength weakened to as low as about 6% of its strength today, says Cooper.

“We essentially had no magnetic field at all – our cosmic radiation shield was totally gone,” agreed Professor Turney

During the magnetic-field breakdown, the Sun experienced several ‘Grand Solar Minima’ (GSM), which are long-term periods of quiet solar activity.

Even though a GSM means less activity on the Sun’s surface, the weakening of its magnetic field can mean more space weather – like solar flares and galactic cosmic rays – could head Earth’s way.

“Unfiltered radiation from space ripped apart air particles in Earth’s atmosphere, separating electrons and emitting light – a process called ionisation,” Prof. Turney added.

“The ionised air ‘fried’ the Ozone layer, triggering a ripple of climate change across the globe.”

Although it’s difficult to draw clear links among all these various events at this stage, said Cooper, “I think that’s always true when you’re putting forward such a radical new theory.” (No, it’s not a radical “new” theory. I proposed this same theory in both “Not by Fire but by Ice” and “Magnetic Reversals and Evolutionary Leaps.”

EARTH-MAGNETIC-POLE-FLIP-Credit-The-Sun.jpg

Earth Magnetic Pole Shift – Image Credit: The SunHow does this all of this apply to today?

Because we may well be headed for a magnetic reversal right now.

The Earth’s magnetic poles are known to wander often, but some scientists are concerned about how rapidly the north magnetic pole is now moving across the Northern Hemisphere.

“This speed – alongside the weakening of Earth’s magnetic field by around nine per cent in the past 170 years – could indicate an upcoming reversal,” says Cooper.

“If a similar event happened today,” says Cooper,” the consequences would be huge for modern society. Incoming cosmic radiation would destroy our electric power grids and satellite networks.”

“We urgently need to get carbon emissions down before such a random event happens again,” Cooper warned. (What a silly statement. Carbon emissions have nothing to do with carbon-14.)

And some scientists with the British Geological Survey also believe that a magnetic reversal could be due.

Just for the record

Just for the record, both Not by Fire but by Ice and Magnetic Reversals and Evolutionary Leaps describe spikes in radioactive 14C at magnetic reversals. Both books also link those spikes, not only to extinctions, but to evolutionary leaps.

MagneticReversals-andGlaciation.jpg

Both books also document three other well-known magnetic excursions that have attacked our planet since the Lashamp event. Most notably the Gothenburg excursion of 12,500 years ago, the Mono Lake excursion of 23,000 years ago, and the Lake Mungo excursion of 34,000 years ago. Each of those excursions corresponded with huge extinctions, spikes in radioactivity bathing the planet, Noah’s-deluge-type floods, sharp increases in volcanic and earthquake activity, and an rapid and severe ice build-up. (An incredible 72% of large mammal species went extinct at the Gothenburg magnetic excursion.)

Note:

I have previously posted a few not-so-pleasant articles about Professor Turney. I really resent that he and the other academicians are trying to take credit for “a radical new theory.”

20 INCHES OF SNOW BURIES ATLANTIC CANADA, WHITEOUT CONDITIONS HIT MAINE, NEW YORK, VERMONT AND BEYOND + “THE COLD BLOB”
MARCH 4, 2021 CAP ALLON

Temperatures are tumbling, snowpack is building, ocean currents are stalling, volcanoes are stirring, magnetic poles are shifting, and the Sun is entering a multidecadal slumber — welcome, all, to the next true climate catastrophe: prepare.

20 INCHES OF SNOW BURIES ATLANTIC CANADA

The tail end of winter is hitting Atlantic Canada hard this week, particularly the province of Newfoundland which on Tuesday reported heavy snow, howling winds and blizzard conditions, according to theweathernetwork.com.

Conditions quickly began to deteriorate Monday night, and by Wednesday the snowstorm had delivered 30+cm (12 inches) to some parts. Heavy snow and wind chills of -20C (-4F) are persisting in northern sections and across Labrador where 20+cm (8 inches) of extra pow-pow is forecast before the close of Thursday, March 4.

“THE COLD BLOB”

Stalling ocean currents are the main Ice Age trigger — even the mainstream is now onboard with this fact; although, frustratingly, they continue to blame man’s CO2 emissions: the next glacial cycle is all your fault!

The Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), which today drives the Gulf Stream, brings warm surface waters north and sends cold, deeper waters south. Today’s scientists fear that part of the Gulf Stream is weakening, that these powerful currents are stalling due to a “cold blob” parked just south of Greenland.

“We’re all wishing it’s not true,” one paleoceanographer said. “Because if that happens, it’s just a monstrous change.”

A suddenly and drastically weakening AMOC, almost to the point of stopping, is thought to have been responsible for abrupt climatic shifts of the past — in a matter of decades, a stalling AMOC leads to plummeting temperatures across the northern hemisphere as the currents ship less and less warmth in that direction.

Here’s the New York Times’ take–cramming in AGW wherever possible:

But whatever the mechanism –and it sure as sugar beets ain’t man-made global warming– the mainstream is now telling you to prepare for cold. After 4+ decades of bracing us all for a future of fire and brimstone and endlessly rising global temps, the MSM is now admitting that Earth has the polar opposite in store–that a serious and prolonged extreme freeze is on the horizon.

My advice: migrate south, particularly those of you residing in northern/central Europe (above the 45th parallel) — and I know, the powers that be are currently preventing you from doing this, travel is all-but banned across Europe; however, there should be a brief lifting of these restrictions by the summer — take advantage of this, and get your plans together.

Temperatures are tumbling:

Welcome, all, to the next true climate catastropheI’m off to transplant 60 young sugar beet plugs (I need off-grid sugar!) — how are you preparing…?

Powerful 7.3 Earthquake Hits Off New Zealand, Sparks Tsunami Warning
BY TYLER DURDEN
THURSDAY, MAR 04, 2021 - 8:51

A powerful earthquake struck off New Zealand's North Island at 2:27 a.m. local time on Friday, registering a preliminary magnitude of 7.3, according to United States Geological Survey (USGS).

View: https://twitter.com/zerohedge/status/1367469416372449284

USGS warns "hazardous tsunami waves" are possible 300km (186 miles) from the epicenter. New warnings suggest tsunami waves could be at least 1 meter above tide. Here's the approximate area where the quake struck.

"We are assessing whether the M7.3 EAST OF THE NORTH ISLAND NEW ZEALAND earthquake at 2021-03-05 2:27 a.m. has created a tsunami that could affect New Zealand. We will provide an update as soon as the initial assessment has been completed," New Zeland's National Emergency Management Agency tweeted.

View: https://twitter.com/NZcivildefence/status/1367469946318450692

National Emergency Management Agency now warns:

"Anyone near the coast who felt a LONG or STRONG quake should MOVE IMMEDIATELY to the nearest high ground, or as far inland as you can."

View: https://twitter.com/NZcivildefence/status/1367469946318450692

Here's the full warning via National Emergency Management Agency:

"This evacuation advice overrides the current COVID-19 Alert Level requirements. Do not stay at home if you are near the coast and felt the earthquake LONG or STRONG. Evacuate immediately to the nearest high ground, out of all tsunami evacuation zones or as far inland as possible. Stay 2 metres away from others if you can and it is safe to do so."

National Emergency Management Agency issues tsunami warnings east of North Island New Zealand. It also says, "there is a LAND and MARINE TSUNAMI THREAT. An EMA will be issued to areas under land and marine tsunami threat."

View: https://twitter.com/NZcivildefence/status/1367482161964539905

"The first waves may have reached NZ in the areas around East Cape at approximately 3:34 am. Tsunami activity will continue for several hours and the threat must be regarded as real until this warning is canceled," National Emergency Management Agency tweeted.

Risklayer, a risk-mitigating firm, outlines the areas where "shaking" from the quake could produce damage.

Twitter users are already reporting the quake:

"By far the largest earthquake I've felt in Auckland, in the 22 years I've lived here," one user said.

Alleged video emerges on Twitter of potential building damage sustained during the quake.

THE DAY THE EARTH SHOOK
MARCH 5, 2021 CAP ALLON

Three major earthquakes have struck just north of New Zealand, including one of the strongest ever to hit the region, triggering tsunami warnings.

As visualized on the USGS map below, a 7.3M hit at 13:27 UTC, a 7.4M struck at 17:41 UTC, and then a 8.1M concluded the onslaught at 19:28 UTC — many aftershocks of the 3M to 5M+ range have continued ringing.

[USGS]

The first two quakes were rare enough, to have a pair of 7+M separated by only 500km and just 4 hours is quite remarkable, and then for those to be chased by an 8+M barely two hours later lifts this event into almost uncharted territory.

Thousands of kiwis were evacuated from coastal areas of the North Island after that third quake–a monster 8.1M which hit at 19:28 UTC, March 4 (08:30 local time, March 5) near the uninhabited Kermadec Islands, 1,000 km (621 miles) north-east of New Zealand.

That shaking was the biggest to strike planet Earth in a number of years, and it arrived almost exactly 10 years after Japan’s 9.1M from March 11, 2011. Worth noting is the solar connection here: the year 2011 was at the start of the ramp-up into solar cycle 24 after the long and deep solar minimum of cycle 23–an incredibly similar setup to where we’re at today. Furthermore, just last week New Zealand marked the 10th anniversary of the 6.3M that destroyed parts of Christchurch in the south Island, killing 185 people.

We have issued a TSUNAMI WARNING for New Zealand coastal areas following the magnitude 8.1 earthquake near KERMADEC ISLANDS REGION. There is a LAND and MARINE TSUNAMI THREAT. An EMA will be issued to areas under land and marine tsunami threat.
— National Emergency Management Agency (@NZcivildefence) March 4, 2021

There were reports of traffic gridlock across NZ’s North Island as people tried to reach higher ground. But, thankfully, the national tsunami warning was lifted –finally– some 13 hours after the first quake. Wave surges had hit parts of the coast by Friday afternoon, but 3.3ft (1m) were as high as they climbed.

To the west, the South Pacific archipelagos of New Caledonia and Vanuatu have been warned to prepare for dangerous waves — their coasts could see surges as high as 10ft (3m) in the coming hours, while parts of South America –including Peru, Ecuador and Chile– could see 3.3ft (1m) waves.

The Day the Earth Shook:

The past 24-hours have been an incredibly active period.

Greece was another country to experience unusually strong activity, with a 6+M hitting central parts, causing substantial damage. Rescue teams rushed to extract people from the rubble of buildings that had collapsed in and around Elassona–a town in central Greece close to the epicenter. Strong aftershocks are still shaking the region.

And finally, concerning earthquake-swarms are continuing to intensify under many of the world’s volcanoes, including those of Iceland as well as some of the 18 that run along the Cascade Volcanic Arc in western North America; here, Mount Rainier and Mount Hood are among the ones to watch.

The Cascade Arc has history of “lighting up” during the onset of Grand Solar Minimums, and this time isn’t expected to be any different…

Eruptions in the Cascade Range During the Past 4,000 Years (the dotted-red line denotes the Dalton Minimum).

…history repeats.

UPTICK

Seismic and Volcanic activity has been correlated to changes in the Sun.

The recent global uptick in earthquakes and volcanic eruptions is likely attributed to the drop-off in solar activity, coronal holes, a waning magnetosphere, and the increase in Galactic Cosmic Rays penetrating silica-rich magma.

Also, the COLD TIMES are returning, the mid-latitudes are REFREEZING in line with the great conjunction, historically low solar activity, cloud-nucleating Cosmic Rays, and a meridional jet stream flow (among other forcings).

Interesting article in the Iceland Monitor about eruptive phases on Iceland. What caught my eye was the fact it settled round about 1300 which Wiki has as round about the beginnings of the Little Ice Age.

“If an eruption occurs, it would likely mark the beginning of such a [volcanic] period – lasting a few centuries (emphasis added), I believe,” states Magnús Á. Sigurgeirsson, geologist at ÍSOR Iceland GeoSurvey – a consulting and research institute in the field of geothermal sciences and utilization.

Research reveals that during the latter part of Holocene – a term used to describe a period that began about 11,700 years ago – the volcanic systems on the Reykjanes peninsula have erupted every 900 to 1100 years. Less is known about the first part of Holocene.

Each eruption period appears to have lasted about 500 years, and during that time most of the volcanic systems appear to have been active, albeit generally not simultaneously. The volcanic activity is characterized by eruptions that each last a few decades. Lava flows from volcanic fissures that can be as long as 12 km (7.5 mi).

Could Volcanic Period Be Ahead?

It has been conventionally defined as a period extending from the 16th to the 19th centuries, but some experts prefer an alternative timespan from about 1300 to about 1850.

The NASA Earth Observatory notes three particularly cold intervals: one beginning about 1650, another about 1770, and the last in 1850, all separated by intervals of slight warming.

Little Ice Age

The incidences of slight warming is vaguely analogues with much of what we see today.

The Medieval Warm Period (MWP) also known as the Medieval Climate Optimum, or Medieval Climatic Anomaly was a time of warm climate in the North Atlantic region lasting from c. 950 to c. 1250. It was likely related to warming elsewhere while some other regions were colder, such as the tropical Pacific. Average global mean temperatures have been calculated to be similar to early-mid-20th-century warming. Possible causes of the Medieval Warm Period include increased solar activity, decreased volcanic activity, and changes to ocean circulation.

Medieval Warm Period

As we can see this Mediaeval period could perhaps have ended in something like a hiatus in Globull warming for 18 yrs before the World became a little chillier. Across the articles one can also see anomalies of warmer/colder in some spots that others. However as History has proven what the Green Terrorists refuse to accept that one measures climate by trends of Decades, Centuries and Geological Epochs. NOT last weeks weather reports.

This article goes into great depth concerning the dates of previous volcanic periods:

Extreme avalanche danger in Russia - Ice Age Now

Extreme avalanche danger in Russia
March 6, 2021 by Robert

Huge masses of snow have accumulated on the slopes of Altai, at the Sheregesh resort there are practically no places to stay, everything is booked!
__________

Extreme avalanche danger in Russia

There is a long weekend of vacations ahead and for sure many are planning to go to ski resorts.
We warn you – the danger of avalanche is now extreme across the country!

In Sakhalin, it is planned in 9 regions, according to the regional avalanche center of Sakhalin UGMS:

in Uglegorsky, Makarovsky, Tomarinsky, Kholmsky, Dolinsky, Anivsky, Nevelsky, Korsakovsky and in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk itself.
Huge masses of snow have accumulated on the slopes of Altai, at the Sheregesh resort there are practically no places to stay, everything is booked!

This means that there are many skiers and, among them, many freeride fans – that is, off-piste skiing. Often, they are the ones who “cut” the avalanches.

Well, the most dangerous situation is now in the Caucasus.

In the mountains of the Krasnodar Territory and Adygea, the danger of an avalanche exceeds 2500 m.!

In the mountains of Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, North Ossetia and Dagestan, this mark is lowest – at 1500 m.

The fact is that the descent of the mass of snow accumulated from the slope is usually caused by climatic reasons: a sudden change in weather (including changes in atmospheric pressure, air humidity), rain, heavy snowfalls.

And that is the weather, according to our predictions, next weekend in the North Caucasus.

SOTT Earth Changes Summary - February 2021: Extreme Weather, Planetary Upheaval, Meteor Fireballs -- Earth Changes -- Sott.net

SOTT Earth Changes Summary - February 2021: Extreme Weather, Planetary Upheaval, Meteor Fireballs

Sott.net

Unusually cold temperatures and record snow continued to hit the US well into February, blanketing large parts of the territory.

Winter Storm Shirley impacted the Deep and Upland South and Ohio Valley. In Texas, main roads were blocked, more than 4 million households were without power, and as many as 10 million were left without tap water. It was the costliest natural disaster in the recorded history of the state.

Basic infrastructure was affected as it proved ill-prepared for such a sudden drop in temperatures. "Green energy" also proved to be quite useless in such emergencies with frozen wind turbines and unusable solar panels covered in snow. Is this a glimpse of what may occur in other countries?

Major power outages were also reported in Chihuahua, Mexico, as the same weather system affected northern parts of Mexico and its "green energy" output.

The storm also caused icy precipitation across the Mid-Atlantic states causing over 212,000 power outages and killing at least 12 people.

Freezing rain also left roads, power lines, and trees covered in ice in the North-Western Portland-Oregon, region, and left more than 270,000 people without power. A total of 11.1 inches of snow also fell in Seattle in the middle of the month, making it the snowiest day in Seattle in 52 years.

But the US was not the only country with rare snow and extreme cold events this February. Moscow had its heaviest snowfall in 100 years, with a month's worth of snow falling in just two days. And another snowstorm hit Crimea, forcing the closing of the Crimean Bridge for the first time.

Further south, after a period of unseasonably warm weather across the country, the cold front "Medea" brought frigid temperatures and snow to northern Greece.

A strong winter storm also battered northern Japan coastal regions, ripping off roofs, flooding homes and disrupting transport.

It should be noted that Scotland, Italy, Libya, and Kazakhstan also experienced extreme cold and snowfall this past month.

We continue to read month after month about record-breaking cold and snow, longer winters, increased precipitation, and while climate is a complex matter, and there have been anomalous record heat waves in some countries from time to time, when we consider the numbers, increasingly cold temperatures and heavier snowfalls predominate. The evidence suggests that a new ice age is settling in.

As part of this shift, weather chaos is also part of the picture. Heavy rain and floods continued to disrupt normal life around the world. Raging floods displaced 60,000 in Java Island, 30,000 in Greater Jakarta Region, and affected 90,000 in Semarang City, Indonesia.

South Wales was slammed by a month's worth of rain in 24 hours, while in France, rivers across the country burst banks as Storm Justine dumped half a month's worth of rain in 24 hours.

A 7.3-magnitude quake struck off the coast of Fukushima, Japan. The quake came nearly a decade after an earthquake and tsunami killed over 18,000 people.

One thing is sure, it's becoming increasingly clear that humans are not in control of what's going on out there.

I enjoy all these videos, but the dissing by the Oppenheimer Ranch guy against Ben Davidson is distasteful to me. I bought Ben’s recent small book “The End Of Earth Again” and thought it was well done and informative enough to keep me WELL motivated on the same survival prepping course I began 50 years ago. I don’t understand his animus towards Davidson, so just thought I would pass that all along...

That's Diamond you're referring to from the Oppenheimer Ranch, and you aren't alone....many have commented that he could be much more pleasant than he is. It can be a challenge to try to get around that and focus on the information provided.

I couldn't agree more with you Jed. In fact, as a direct result of Ben and his 'Disaster' series combined with so much information from outside sources as well as personal observation, I'm currently building a wood gas generator as a backup to my existing solar system. The reality that our sun could, at any time, decide to shut down electric grids worldwide would certainly cramp my style having to abandon my five freezers and resort to storing meats in lard barrels or salt pack!
No doubt there will be folks depending upon their gasoline or propane generators but that will be very short term compared to the extent of a destroyed utility grid.
example

As an addendum, my mind was more at ease under the Trump administration but current foreign and domestic policy within this Biden administration provides little to no peace of mind. Staying actively determined to survive keeps my mind off the political disaster.

Once you build it I urge you to test the crap out of it before you rely on it for electricity. Figure out exactly how much fuel it consumes, what parts wear out on both it and the generator etc. Figure out how often you have to clean your motor. We built one years ago that would tar up a small engine after only a few runs. It was a different design but there are a number of reports that I have seen that the FEMA design is fairly dirty as well.

Record Spring Cold and Snow Inbound + Increased Incidents of "Engine Flameout" due to Jet Fuel Freezing - Electroverse

RECORD SPRING COLD AND SNOW INBOUND + INCREASED INCIDENTS OF “ENGINE FLAMEOUT” DUE TO JET FUEL FREEZING
MARCH 8, 2021 CAP ALLON

A welcome burst of warmth will grip a portion of North America this week; predictably, the MSM is milking it for all it’s worth, running titles like “record-breaking warmth is possible” — however, the warm-up looks very short-lived.

That article linked above is from the Boston Globe, and it’s pure obfuscation–a tactic employed across the mainstream media, in case you hadn’t noticed. The damage is done in the title, but when the time is taken to delve into the content, a rather different picture is often painted.

The opening paragraph reads:

March is typically one of the wettest months of the year, and yet the start of March 2021 has been unusually dry and sunny. It’s been cold the past several days, and the weekend averaged below normal for seasonal temperatures.

Here were the Northeast’s forecast temp anomalies for Sunday, March 7:

gfs_T2ma_neus_1.png

GFS 2m Temp Anomalies – March 7 [tropicaltidbits.com].

The Boston Globe article continues:

Now the weather is undergoing a bit of a change, and we’re going to start enjoying some serious spring. Before we get to the super warmth in the middle of the week, we’ll have to have a slow warm up during Monday. Most areas will reach right around 40 degrees in the afternoon after our cold start. There’s not a lot of snow cover left on the ground in many areas, [and] when that storm set up last month, areas around Metro West did see some heavy snow banding, and that now remains a dense mass of white crust stuck to the ground. The high density of the snow makes it difficult to melt, and so it’s still going to take several more days before we are rid of it. Finally, in spite of the warm weather coming this week there are still signs of some cold and even possible snow in the third week of the month.

For an article on upcoming record warmth it sure does mention the words “cold” and “snow” an awful lot. Furthermore, “serious spring” –as the Boston Globe describes it– looks to consist of fewer than 5-days of above average temps running from Tuesday evening, March 9 to Saturday, March 13. Then, following that brief burst of “super warmth,” two powerful Arctic blasts look set to sweep the Northeast in quick succession, bringing with them freezing temps and the threat of substantial March snow:

GFS 2m Temp Anomalies – March 20 [tropicaltidbits.com].

gfs_asnow_neus_52-M20.png

GFS Total Snowfall – March 8 to March 20 [tropicaltidbits.com].

In addition, it isn’t just the Northeast on course for an influx of out-of-season cold and snow — the majority of North America will be buffeted, too:

GFS 2m Temp Anomalies – March 17 to March 20 [tropicaltidbits.com].

gfs_asnow_namer_fh0-384-snow.gif

GFS Total Snowfall – March 8 to March 24 [tropicaltidbits.com].

This is mid-to-late March snow cover, North America — aka Spring!

Feet upon feet are forecast for many states and provinces, from the south to the north, the east to the west — totals that will only add to the already above average Total Snow Mass for the Northern Hemisphere chart, which currently stands at some 750 Gigatons above the 1982-2012 norm:

Prepare — protect those young spring crops from the freeze.

INCREASED INCIDENTS OF “ENGINE FLAMEOUT” DUE TO FUEL FREEZING

I recently received this email re high-altitude cooling.

The sender requested I didn’t reveal his name.

Something I have noticed in recent times. I was an Airframe Tech in the RAAF and a Licenced Aircraft Engineer and I had a commercial pilots licence. SO I keep up with some aviation stuff. But don’t fly any more. Something that was almost unheard of a few years ago, Engine flameout due to fuel freezing.

Jet fuel comes in two types: Jet Fuel A and Jet Fuel A-1.
Jet fuel A freezes at -37C, and Jet fuel A-1 freezes at -47C. When Kerosene freezes, it freezes to Wax crystals, which are more dense than the kerosene, so they sink to the bottom of the tank. Gas turbine engines have an Oil to Fuel heat exchanger, this uses the fuel as a coolant for the jet oil from the engine and also warms the fuel. As this warms the fuel it usually thaws any wax that makes it to the Engine back into kerosene. Happy Days. But recently, there have been multiple issues around the world after long low power descents — the fuel has been so cold that at low power settings the engine oil is not making enough heat to effectively melt the wax: flame out.
The stratosphere is cold — at the lower parts (40,000-60,000 feet) it’s -50C to -60C.

What’s changed is there seems to be lower temps at lower altitudes, such as -50C down to 25,000 feet. So the fuel is colder, for longer, and the wax is building up in the lower parts of the tank, and this is the fuel used at the end of a long flight.
It will be interesting to see how they will handle these ultra long haul flights where the Airframe spends 20 Hrs at -60C. And most of these aircraft are Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastics of some sort, so basically, expensive eskies.
Regards

Prepare accordinglylearn the facts, relocate if need be, and grow your own.

Thanks mecoastie, I'm currently working on cooling and filtration since the generator itself is straight forward.

I personally think that cooling is an issue with a lot of these designs. They are usually designed for a moving vehicle not a stationary application. Stationary you don't have that advantage of the moving air.

The other thing to consider is feeding it. Using wood pellets is not much different than using liquid fuels. Unless you can produce them you will eventually run out. They are easier to store. We used wood blocks. It was scrap hardwood that we chunked up with a table saw and chop saw. They have to be dry. Do you have the capability to produce your own fuel in a grid down scenario? Even using something like a solar dryer you are going to have stay several months ahead with fuel to allow it time to dry.

Have you looked at canning the meat to preserve it? That is what route we have decided to go. Basically run the freezer until we can it all. I think that is the only viable long term solution. Don't know how big a solar setup would be needed to run them but that is a possibility also.

Wood gas is a fascinating thing but I don't see it as a viable long-term electricity producer. I think the inputs are too high in cost of time and labor. I do think it could be a viable alternative to run vehicles like a tractor where the output is going to be much more than you put into it and available for a number of tasks. Sometime in the next few years I want to do just that. Build a wood gas tractor but it is low on my priority list.
