Noteworthy shortages from Friday & Saturday shopping in Central Iowa: fresh Idaho baking potatoes and fresh potatoes in general, dairy products (milk, butter, sour cream), TP (still limit of one pack per customer) and many holes in canned veggies and soups, plus the rice was rather low. [Note: Thursday was the 1st, and I try to avoid shopping then. Today it was pouring rain with few early shoppers.]
Apples, squash, bottled water, bleach, and cleaning products in general were well-stocked. Meat was up about $0.10 $0.17 across the board but no limits.
I was able to get everything I needed, and I had a decent potato harvest, but I was trying to pick up some things for my neighbor and had to go to two stores to fill her order.
I also went to three Walmarts. The aisle arrows and employees counting shoppers -- gone. All public doors open. There was still a sign saying face coverings required, but no one seemed to be enforcing it. Most shoppers didn't have on masks. Most (not all) of the 6' distance signs were gone, just a few up front around the cashiers.
Merchandise-wise, all three stores were a mess! The aisles were filled with pallets, and there was a mix of spring, summer, fall, and winter products. I'm guessing more stuff that was held up in a shipping container finally came in. It was really odd seeing the bathing suits next to winter coats! But -- hey! At least they had that stuff. Shoes (and winter boots) were all in good supply, at least for now.
