Are you sure about that?
Yeah, I think we posted a few days back that even NY is now using the combo, and since then it's been given "emergency authorization" to be proscribed- though I don't see why, other than politics- there was ever a thought that iit could NOT be used. Anyways:

We recorded this yesterday, n someone was hopeful that dr. Zelenko would record his data points:
...looks like that isn't a concern :D... more applause...

I believe that the FDA has overtly approved this treatment to blunt what some of the state governments were trying to do in blocking their use.

i am so angry that he has moved too slow for my state. We are almost 2000 cases and he said yesterday it’s safer at home but wouldn’t mandate a stay at home order because of our economy. Dead people can’t spend money jackass.
I'm sorry to say, I voted for him. I think he has really hurt himself with pretty much anyone by dragging his feet on this. He believes in personal liberty and personal accountability, but he should realize, the idiots have no sense of personal responsibility and they are killing us.

That's been my view all along. There are way too many who believe in incredibly complex conspiracy theories, when incompetence has such great explanatory value.

I agree. I like a good conspiracy theory but the truth is usually more simple. Perhaps it was incompetence or perhaps it was just a random mutation that caused the virus. All animals have viruses unique to that species and those viruses do mutate. When you have a dense population with many of them eating bats, rats, cats, dogs, and anything else that doesn't eat them first, it is a witch's brew of viruses and bacteria floating around. I see they are reopening those nasty wet markets. It's a wonder they don't all die.

The captain of a nuclear aircraft carrier with more than 100 sailors infected with the coronavirus pleaded Monday with U.S. Navy officials for resources to allow isolation of his entire crew and avoid possible deaths in a situation he described as quickly deteriorating.

The unusual plea from Capt. Brett Crozier, a Santa Rosa native, came in a letter obtained exclusively by The Chronicle and confirmed by a senior officer on board the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, which has been docked in Guam following a COVID-19 outbreak among the crew of more than 4,000 less than a week ago.

“This will require a political solution but it is the right thing to do,” Crozier wrote. “We are not at war. Sailors do not need to die. If we do not act now, we are failing to properly take care of our most trusted asset — our Sailors.”

In the four-page letter to senior military officials, Crozier said only a small contingent of infected sailors have been off-boarded. Most of the crew remain aboard the ship, where following official guidelines for 14-day quarantines and social distancing is impossible.

“Due to a warship’s inherent limitations of space, we are not doing this,” Crozier wrote. “The spread of the disease is ongoing and accelerating.”

He asked for “compliant quarantine rooms” on shore in Guam for his entire crew “as soon as possible.”

“Removing the majority of personnel from a deployed U.S. nuclear aircraft carrier and isolating them for two weeks may seem like an extraordinary measure. ... This is a necessary risk,” Crozier wrote. “Keeping over 4,000 young men and women on board the TR is an unnecessary risk and breaks faith with those Sailors entrusted to our care.”

Reached late Monday, a Navy representative did not provide a response by deadline.

So far, none of the infected sailors has shown serious symptoms, but the number of those who have tested positive has jumped exponentially since the Navy reported infections in three crew members on March 24, the first time COVID-19 infections had been detected on a naval vessel at sea.

Senior military officials said last week that the entire crew of more than 4,000 will be tested. The carrier’s home port is San Diego.

At the time, Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly expressed confidence that they identified all the sailors who had been in contact with the trio of infected sailors and they had been quarantined.

“This is an example of how we are able to keep our ships deployed at seas and underway, even with active COVID-19 cases,” Modly said.

De Blasio is the typical Demoncrap useless piece of shit. Absolutely worthless. It's a damned shame there are people so stupid, that they vote for him. Proof that the world is changing, and not for the better...

OA

Now that I'm awake...my OP was based on muslims declaring a "jihad(?)" with the CV going around. They were telling their followers to become infected and go out and infect as many as they could in every city. Hence, my OP asking why were the mosques not shut down also when they have already threatened to infect as many as they could and mohammed would reward them for it, which is their ultimate goal in life.

It seems, from what I've read, that because of their non-existant health habits, they become infected easily and think nothing of spreading it. But having churches and synagoges shut down and arresting them and only them is going to slow/stop the spread. Yeah, okay.

And you're right, DeBlasio is biting the hand that feeds him and I think he's more afraid of what the muslims would do if he closed all the mosques also. They think nothing of swarming in the streets and causing chaos just because they know they can get away with it. He sure doesn't want to shake that hornets nest, now, does he? The police are quarantined, infected and are afraid of taking this home to their families...you think they're gonna come running when muslim chaos comes to the streets of NY just because DeBlasio says so? With a CV jihad hanging over their heads? DeBlasio and all Democrat politicians are delusional.

Now my original thoughts, OP, of why did he not specifically name ALL the religious places as being closed and only threaten Christians and Jews? The answer is above. What a chicken sh$t.

I promise, from this day forward, not to post until I've had sufficient coffee. :)

Thermal Camera Market Explodes as Coronavirus Spreads

Temperature readers could be coming to a workplace near you.

Millions of people are waiting out the pandemic at home but many others still have to go to work in industries like food preparation, shipping, and manufacturing, particularly medical equipment. FLIR, which makes thermal cameras for military intelligence collection and targeting, says they’ve seen an “exponential” increase in sales to industrial customers who want to scan employees for fever — a key symptom of COVID-19.

“Whether it’s a medical organization that wants to have this screening before you enter a clinic or a hospital, whether it’s other industries that are critical to manage the distribution of goods and such, they have to maintain a large workforce, etc. etc.,” they’re ordering thermal cameras like never before, FLIR CEO James Cannon said.

Examples: Emirates Airlines is now screening all passengers headed to the United States. The Wynn Resorts casino chain, currently closed by the outbreak, has nevertheless put in a large order for the cameras. A grocery store chain in Atlanta is scanning customers and if the shopper presents a temperature above 100.4, the market will “discretely inform” them and find an alternative way to shop for them, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

Beyond its military sales, which include cameras embedded in tiny bug drones, FLIR also sells thermal imaging equipment to the Department of Homeland Security for watching U.S. borders.

Thermal cameras are useful for detecting people who are wearing camouflage. But it’s not clear how helpful they are as public-health tools.

“Just last week, eight passengers who later tested positive for COVID-19 arrived in Shanghai from Italy and passed the airport screeners unnoticed, for example. And even if screeners do find the occasional case, it has almost no impact on the course of an outbreak,” notes a March 6 story in Science.

Studies suggest that COVID-19 can spread before the appearance of symptoms, like cough and fever. But a high fever is associated with the illness.

Cannon was careful to say that the cameras aren’t scanning directly for the virus, but said they do accurately read temperature within .01 degree Celsius.

In the midst of the 2002 SARS epidemic, FLIR began to sell thermal cameras to South Korea and other Asian countries to screen passengers at airports. The software to detect fever has advanced considerably since then; the physical hardware is also much smaller.

Thermal cameras for detecting whether a person is running a fever need to be close to the eye to work, either embedded in a kiosk that a person looks into or in a handheld scanner in order to take a precise sample of a person’s face, very close to the eye. The scanner can then sound an alarm when it encounters an elevated level. Even though a slightly increased temperature does not necessarily mean that a person has COVID-19 and, indeed, not having a temperature is not an indication that someone does not have the illness, it does provide a datapoint that could help companies screen employees for the virus.

“You can imagine how customers are going to want to use this data now,” Cannon said. “They’re going to want to track and categorize, follow up” to see how the data from the cameras corresponded to the actual case.

The FLIR CEO said increased orders were coming from European governments, but not yet the U.S. government.

He says that FLIR is able to keep on top of the new orders for now but manufacturing “capacity is almost completely consumed.” There’s also a danger in standing up new factories. After the SARS epidemic petered out in 2002, many customers cancelled their orders.

Coronavirus Is Rising Around US Military, Defense Infrastructure, Analysis Shows

defense-large.jpg

The Govini assessment indicates that COVID-19 is about to hit military bases and manufacturing hubs in the southern and western United States.

The coronavirus will deal a major blow to U.S. military readiness in coming weeks as it spreads to bases and manufacturing hubs in the southern and western parts of the country, a new analysis by data and analytics firm Govini predicts.

Govini analysts say the forecast could help Pentagon leaders and local commanders better prepare, and help military decision makers allocate some $10 billion in virus aid approved by Congress as part of a sweeping $2 trillion stimulus package last week.

“I’m convinced that if they don’t apply data and decision science to this mission and this problem set, in the best case scenario, the funding risks being inefficiently allocated,” said Govini’s CEO, Tara Murphy Dougherty, whose firm uses data science and machine learning to analyze national security data.

“Decision makers lack good, accurate, real-time information unless they take advantage of things like these,” Dougherty said. “In the worst situation, it gets squandered and too much money goes toward areas that don’t really need it and not enough goes toward the things that are really critical.”

The Govini risk assessment draws on three numbers from every U.S. county: available hospital beds, COVID-19 tests being conducted, and confirmed cases.

“This is what we need to be thinking of in terms of what’s coming next,” Dougherty said.

A map generated by the Govini analysis shows giant red swaths indicating “high-risk” areas covering almost half of the country. For the next 14 days, it covers California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Wyoming, Louisiana, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, Idaho, and large portions of Kansas, Nebraska, and Texas.

The area includes many bases that house troops and weapons that would be essential in wars against Russia and China — preparations for which are prioritized by the 2018 National Defense Strategy. So are warplane and missile assembly lines and the coastal shipyards and ports that transport weapons to forces overseas.

“We took activities happening at these bases and installations,” Dougherty said. “We basically categorize them into examples where there’s an impact on readiness, an example of where there’s an impact on power projection capabilities, and then examples of where there’s an impact on modernization.”

The military relies on contractors for much of its base operations, including training.

“When you think of things like training forces and conducting maintenance and deployment functions and things like that, if everyone is consumed with the virus and falls in the infected category or is out of completely out of commission not just teleworking, then [there’s a] major readiness impact there,” Dougherty said.

Just looking at the charts for various countries, it appears several may have reached their peaks. Italy is showing fewer new cases after peaking a week or so ago. We are not seeing the daily big spikes in many of them like we were and some of the levels have either leveled off or are dropping. May be because those infected before social distancing was enacted are working their way through the totals. Let's hope the trend continues.

Sounds like my boss. I stopped going to work during the day 2 weeks ago because he refuses to follow any rules. Still going to Home Depot almost daily.

BREAKING: CNN’s Chris Cuomo Diagnosed With Coronavirus

Cuomo-Prime-Time-Coronavirus-Quarantine-Home.jpg

Chris Cuomo, the CNN prime time anchor and brother of New York governor Andrew Cuomo, has tested positive for the coronavirus.

“In these difficult times that seem to get more difficult and complicated by the day, I just found out that I am positive for coronavirus,” Cuomo wrote in a statement posted to Twitter. “I have been exposed to people in recent days who have subsequently tested positive and I had fevers, chills and shortness of breath.”

The anchor said he will continue to host his 9 p.m. show, Cuomo Prime Time, from the basement of his home.
“I just hope I didn’t give it to the kids and Cristina,” he added. “That would make me feel worse than this illness!”

CNN sent employees a memo on Tuesday confirming that Cuomo will continue to anchor his show from home. Cuomo’s diagnosis makes him the third person with CNN’s New York City offices to contract the virus. The announcement comes after after the CNN host interviewed his brother from a home studio about the state’s ongoing effort to tackle the pandemic.

“Like other media companies, CNN has implemented sweeping changes in response to the pandemic,” CNN’s Brian Stelter wrote on the situation. “The vast majority of CNN employees have been working from home for several weeks. Anchors have been broadcasting from small studios and home offices. And office spaces are being regularly cleaned.”
Shortly after the news broke, Governor Cuomo addressed it in his daily press conference, and he spoke fondly of his brother while expressing optimism that he will recover.

“He’ll be fine, but there is a lesson in this. He’s an essential worker, a member of the press so he has been out there. You go out there, the chance that you get infected is very high,” the governor said. “I spoke to him this morning and he’s going to be quarantined in his basement at home. He’s just worried about his daughter and his kids that he hope he did not get them infected.”

Cuomo hosted his daily radio show, on the SiriusXM POTUS Channel, shortly after announcing his diagnosis Tuesday. He stressed that he will be fine, and is self-quarantining in his basement, where his home studio is located. Cuomo also argued for the importance of taking serious action to fight the spread of coronavirus.

No let-up in coronavirus deaths in Italy, new cases steady
MARCH 31, 2020 / 12:15 PM / UPDATED AN HOUR AGO Reporting by Crispian Balmer

ROME (Reuters) - The death toll from an outbreak of coronavirus in Italy has climbed by 837 to 12,428, the Civil Protection Agency said on Tuesday, with the daily tally rising, albeit slightly, for a second day running.

The number of new cases was broadly steady, growing by 4,053 against 4,050 on Monday, and bringing total infections since the outbreak came to light on Feb. 21 to 105,792.

Some 5,217 new cases were registered on Sunday and 5,974 on Saturday, suggesting the growth curve of new infections is flattening.

The daily tally of deaths in Lombardy, the worst-affected region, declined sharply, and new infections were also down for at least the third day running, suggesting the situation is improving there faster than elsewhere in the country.

In neighboring Piedmont, on the other hand, the daily death toll of 105 was up sharply from the day before.
Of those originally infected nationwide, 15,729 had fully recovered on Tuesday, compared to 14,620 the day before. There were 4,023 people in intensive care, up from a previous 3,981.

Italy has registered more deaths than anywhere else in the world and accounts for around 30% of all global fatalities from the virus.

Italy’s largest daily toll from the five-week-old epidemic was registered on Friday, when 919 people died. There were 889 deaths on Saturday, 756 on Sunday and 812 on Monday.

Interesting this was leaked to the media. Unless the Captain copied the press someone who handled communication took the liberty to forward.

The internal deep staters inside even the military need to located and removed like vermin in the attic eventually they will cause damage.

A group of 28 spring break tourists who returned to Texas from the Mexican beach resort of Cabo San Lucas have tested positive for coronavirus, the city of Austin has said.

About a week and a half ago, approximately 70 people in their 20s departed in a chartered plane for a spring break trip. Some of the group returned on separate commercial flights. Currently, 28 young adults on this trip have tested positive for COVID-19 and dozens more are under public health investigation.
