Santa Clara County Health Department confirms its 4th case of novel coronavirus

A new case of the novel coronavirus in Santa Clara County was confirmed by health officials Saturday.

The county's health department says this is their fourth case.
RELATED: 'The virus is here': New COVID-19 case with unknown source in Santa Clara County
The patient is an adult woman who is a household contact of the third Santa Clara County case, and is "not hospitalized or ill," officials said.
Here is part of the statement from the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department:
"We expected more cases of COVID-19 in our county and have been preparing for community transmission. Since the disease is here, an important priority for the department will be to conduct community surveillance to determine the extent of local spread. The County Public Health Laboratory has the ability to test for the virus and can identify cases quickly and take appropriate action. The County of Santa Clara Public Health Department is also working closely with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the State of California Department of Public Health, and other partners to protect and inform the public."
California Governor Gavin Newsom says the state only has about 200 testing kits left. The CDC is pledging to get more tests to California soon.

Livid!!!
My hub works as a corporate trainer, at a upper crust type restaurant (similar to a Ruth’s Chris Steakk House) ....I just KNEW it was a matter of time, they cater to $$$ business types, usually in large groups. He told me today that a few nights ago he was assigned to a party of 10, of which 3 people were Chinese, barely spoke English. Straight from China. M
So he casually mentioned to his manager if maybe masks were in order (joking, I’m sure, as they in no way even have masks at his work anyway, but still!! ) ..... he was chided and laughed at to his total dismay!

I told him if he has that situation again he is to tell them he will NOT take care of a group like that!

Well, I doubt that’s gonna happen especially when that’s where the big money is. But still!
He just said if he gets infected he will hold his employer responsible...

Pope Francis and Two Aides COVID Confirmed

Doesn't feel right to me. If "the Vatican confirmed in a statement," as this source claims, it would be all over MSM, yet it isn't. I'm thinking may be fake.

I am not seeing confirmation from other sites, include Vatican News. Has anyone else found anything? I would not be surprised, but I am not aware of this particular news source.

And he just spread it liberally through his flock, including kissing a baby? No (nice) words. He knew he was sick with something! (No not Catholic bashing. Just frustrated.)

Edited to add since it's unconfirmed at this point: He STILL KNEW HE WAS SICK! Even with a bad cold you don't do something like that.

Now was looking at the above map and the list of countries of where this virus has been confirmed to have occurred. I find it interesting of how almost all of the cases is in the Northern Hemisphere and only a few cases in the Southern Hemisphere where the majority of these has occurred in Australia. Most of the Southern Hemisphere, where it is now indeed Summer, have hardly no cases of this virus whatsoever! Why is that??? Why is that??? Why is that??? Most of the cases, and where it is spreading are in the Northern Hemisphere where it is now winter. Just today have been wondering about this. Take a look at this yourself and that above map. I say it is Interesting! Today's Australia's numbers are 25 cases with 15 recovered. And actually the rates of those that have recovered are pretty good for those more tropical countries where this has now occurred. Is this wishful thinking of what will happen in the Northern Hemisphere once the warmer time of year arrives? Guess we will see but it needs to be watched closely in my opinion. I just find it interesting with all of this talk that it will disappear come summer. Now that where it is right now - right now indeed Summer, there are hardly no cases and not one single country where this virus is spreading like wildfire, unlike in the Northern Hemisphere.

Wishing Everyone the Best!!!!
I don't think it has to do with temperature. It could be because of the amount of sunlight.

Cook County and Illinois health officials confirmed a coronavirus case in Illinois Saturday, officials said in a news release.
Public health officials are working to identify and actively monitor individuals who were in contact with the patient in an effort to reduce the risk of additional transmission, according to a news release. The state of Illinois will request CDC deploy a team to Illinois to support these efforts.

Exactly -- and that was from exposure to one patient. Imagine how many health care workers & ancillary support staff could be knocked out of commission when more people with the virus begin trickling into local urgent care centers, their primary doctor's offices, and ER's everywhere?

There's a presumptive case in Oregon now -- moving closer to my AO all the time. *sigh*

*On a personal note, my daughter had to travel through two busy airports & attend a mandatory 3 day conference for her work. It was held in a very busy location with people from all over the world attending and/or around them. She returned Thursday evening, and texted me last night that she has developed a fever, chills, and a dry non-productive cough. I'm hoping it's merely fatigue and will be following up with her in a few hours to see how she is.

If you are going to be quarantined and wearing a mask anyway, you might as well buy a couple of gallons of primer and white semigloss paint and a couple of brushes, In 14 days you should be able to paint the baseboards, door and window trim. Heck go ahead and get that third gallon of semigloss and paint the doors too. (video games/books/scrabble my ass)

Here is a possible way to start seeing how much the virus is in the community:

Go to the CDC website and look at the flu activity reports for the individual states. Most of the states have a chart that shows the amount of office visits for ILI (influenza like illness). I looked at several states last night and they all appeared normal for this time of the year...... coming down from the typical flu spike each winter. However, I expect this to change as the virus becomes more prevalent. If we start to see another move up, that could be our sign. An added bonus is that some of the states give a chart for each region of the state (southwest, northeast, etc) so it will make it easier to see what areas are seeing outbreaks.

One caveat: Most of the information is about a week old, but better than nothing. We may be able to start seeing spikes before the news starts announcing it.
So what you're saying is that they will dx it as flu or 'flu-like illness'...

This has probably been said a million times in posts I haven't read yet. But one thing they always say about flu/colds is that it isn't the direct effect of cold weather itself as much as how people are closed up together indoors so much, lack of fresh air, lack of exercise, dry air from heaters, etc. My guess is probably also stress & poor eating due to holidays, though that may just be the U.S. I also read somewhere that the summer effect is not just due to temperature, but also to the amount of U.V. light depending on the angle of the sun. Vitamin D levels probably depend on that also. Anyway, I'm thinking that temperature alone is only part of the picture.

Well that's just peachy. I'm the walking dead. Went shopping at Whole Foods in Lake Oswego last night. Walk my dog there every evening. Lynn worked there for over 41 years. It's our stomping grounds. We live in Oregon City but go to Lake Oswego every day.

But realistically, this killer virus is everywhere. It just hasn't been tested and truthfully outed yet. But it has been circulating in the USA since November. There are 4 varieties of it and a much nastier one is about to hit the USA publicly because of all the millions of UNRESTRICTED travelers.
I posted in the price increase thread about how I was in Pioneer Square when the entire female lacrosse team from California's UC Davis walked around, about the same time three Chinese women were there also. It is here in Portland, in Oregon and in the USA. We will ALL get sick, and then live, or die and we need to accept this. It is a matter of how well you are, your immune system, general health status etc etc. So eat some GARLIC.

First Cluster of US Deaths Inbound

[Comments enabled]
akcs-www

Sanctuary Washington State is likely to wind up with the first bunch of deaths due to Coronavirus.
It has been announced that 27 residents of a long-term care facility in Kirkland (a nursing home) and 25 of the 180 staff are symptomatic. There is no way to control that in a typical nursing home facility as those facilities are not designed for, nor can they be retrofitted to deal with, infectious disease to any material degree. Given the degree of spread already this has clearly been ignored or swept under the rug instead of the facility being instantly closed when the first case was detected. This sort of "deny, deflect and ignore" bullcrap is exactly what I expected out of the virtue-signalling leftists in that part of the country.
This is a clear warning to you who live in such a place: The government will ignore, conceal or outright lie until they can't and by then you will have been exposed.
Further, given the mortality profile on this virus -- let's face it, nearly everyone in such a facility is squarely in the category of those at high risk of death due to age and most have serious co-morbidities or they wouldn't be in a nursing home I would not be shocked if anywhere from 10 to 25 percent of the total residents there (that's anywhere from ~10 to 25 out of the 108 residents) wind up dead within the next 2-3 weeks.
Isn't that special?
What's even better is that the 25 symptomatic staff have been running around the greater Kirkland area while presumably contagious sharing the love with everyone in town. Again, if you're not old and/or infirm then the odds that this thing gets you in a serious way are low -- you'll probably get it, it'll be a mild annoyance and that will be that.
But if you are morbidly obese (the common words for that is ridiculously fat, folks), diabetic, immuno-compromised or (God forbid) have any sort of material lung disorder such as COPD then the odds are rather good that thanks to your wonderful State Government and its policies including their intentional blindness and obfuscation you've got an imminent appointment with St. Peter.
How's that virtue signalling bull**** working out for you folks? Is "blue" the color of your political party or is it the cyanosis as your lungs fill up with fluid and you literally drown in it?

If one does the math related to an R7, one reaches 2 billion infected in 12 cycles of contagion. At around four going into five (2,000-14,000) is likely where we are now....do the math. It really starts to go exponential at this point, as in 14 goes to 90,000 goes to 560,000, to 3.5 million, to 24 million to 170 million, presumming it does not increase or decrease the rate of infection. How long is a cycle, that's the only unanswered question? Expect the next two weeks to take on a whole new look. I'm sure at that point the gov will come out and state it looks like it's a bit worse than we expected.....two weeks after that, oh crap. I say weeks, as in cycles...not sure what that really is, might even be less.

Theoretcially, we could be ten weeks out from total coverage, and total chaos....may june ish. Yet bear in mind, the chaos will be serious soon, it just will rise to a peak of total coverage, then rinse and repeat, wave after wave.

Lord said, A Great Tribulation would proceed his Second Coming. Looking to make good on his Prophetic word. Man's inhumanity to man in full view to all mankind, in time. The Pale Horse of the Apocalypse is out of the gate.

(Don't worry, Dennis--not getting into a religious "discussion"--just this one sentence....)

I've been thinking a LOT about how Revelation says the FIRST rider, on the white horse, who goes out "conquering and to conquer"---is given A CROWN (what does "corona" mean?)

At least the aides don’t have AIDS...

Only thing I could find that the "Vatican" is "confirming" is that they would NOT confirm whether the Pope has been TESTED for the coronavirus:
"On Thursday, Vatican officials refused to comment on whether Pope Francis has been tested for coronavirus, confirming only that he had missed a planned Mass for the start of Lent due to a slight illness."

Well, and who gets symptomatic the day after they are exposed unless they are a hypochondriac?

China officials knew of coronavirus in December, ordered cover-up, report says
By Sara Dorn February 29, 2020 | 3:45pm | Updated

Chinese scientists knew about the coronavirus and its deadly effects as early as December — but were ordered by government officials to suppress the evidence, according to a report.

In late December, several genomics companies tested samples from sick patients in Wuhan — the center of the coronavirus outbreak — and noticed alarming similarities between their illnesses and the 2002 SARS virus, the Sunday Times of London reported, citing Chinese business news site Caixin Global.

The researchers alerted Beijing of their findings — and on Jan. 3, received a gag order from China’s National Health Commission, with instructions to destroy the samples.

Rather than hunkering down to contain the virus, Wuhan officials went ahead with their annual potluck dinner for 40,000 families.

The alleged cover-up continued when representatives from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention visited Wuhan Jan. 8, where officials intentionally withheld information that hospital workers had been infected by patients — a telltale sign of contagion.

News of the virus’ highly contagious nature didn’t surface publicly until Jan. 20. Wuhan was locked down and a mass quarantine ordered three days later.

how virulent is it?

the "church" in korea--1900 people tested. 1300 symptomatic, 600 asymptomatic.

of the 1300, 87.5% tested positive.
of the 600, 70% tested positive.

[URL"true"]Washington Declares State Of Emergency After 1st US Coronavirus Death; New China Cases Jump: Live Updates[/URL]

WOW.

Let's add to those numbers: considering that not everyone tests positive the first or second time they are tested, I think it's pretty much a given that all1 1300 symptomatic are infected. And although it's not a 'given',I think it's a safe bet that all 600 of the asymptomatic are infected as well. But even if the tests are 100% accurate you're still left with 1557 members out of 1800 who tested positive, which is 86.5% (??? - if I did my math right, and I am not good at math so I may have gotten it wrong).

We are going to see more of this and it is infuriating because it should never have happened. Our first responders need to be trained and equipped on how to deal with suspected COVID patients. How are we going to have any first responders to respond to fire or other emergencies if they are all quarantined because no one trained them properly or if they refuse to go because they are ill equipped? Prayers said for Station 21 and all our first responders.

Saved, to glorify God.
N-acetylcysteine is also the supplement form of the amino acid cysteine. Its called NAC in its supplement form. You can buy it on Amazon, I use the Nutricost brand. I have used it for several years to thin phlegm to help with COPD. It is effective for that and noticeably improved my breathing. I take 600 mg morning and afternoon.
Canned pineapple juice will do the same thing, it will surprise you how well and quickly it works!

EVERYONE SHOULD REMEMBER THAT FOR If THEY OR A LOVED ONE GETS CORONA VIRUS, pineapple juice will break up the phlem and mucos so it is easier to cough up!!
