WTF??? I just finally had time to click on the video. Good lord... WHAT are they afraid of? I'm really confused- if this guy isn't claiming to have a bomb, or something, it seems they'd have long ago lost patience and gotten him out of there.
If there is a reason they aren't trying that route- like a bomb- why in the WORLD do they have all those vehicles hemming him in (in the potential blast zone)?

You know, during this standoff I had a crew come out and drop and clear a 30' Aspen tree that was dying on our property. The tree was way too close to the house.
It was one of those walk up guys at the front door. Said they were insured and bonded, his crew would be here in an hour after finishing a job up the street.
I did check them out on the Internet and nothing came back negative. The crew was from Minnesota!
Four guys showed up with a huge chipper, stump grinder and they "topped" the tree so it wouldn't fall on anything.
They ground down the stump 18" below the soil and shredded the entire tree in just under an hour.
They got $300.00 for the job. I passed out some ice cold water bottles and we shot the sh*t when they were done.
BIL just paid $800.00 for a similar job.
I negotiated the whole deal, supervised and still am monitoring this thread.

Man Wanted for Terrorist Threats in Standoff at Federal Building
The suspect made an unspecified threat against the White House, according to a law enforcement source.

WESTWOOD -- A man accused of making threats against the White House led officers on a wild freeway chase that ended in a standoff outside the Federal Building.
The man was wanted on various local warrants, says police Sgt. Kevin Lowe.
His is also wanted for questioning by the Secret Service as part of a federal inquiry into threats against the White House, says Lowe.
U.S. Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan says the suspect made a threat but would not give details.
Police have not publicly identified him.
But the Daily Breeze is reporting that the red Volkswagon Beetle is registered to Joe Moshe, a resident in the 8300 block of Creighton Avenue.
Neighbors who did not want to be identified said Moshe "sounds like he could be dangerous," but he has never caused any significant trouble for them.
"He's got issues. He doesn't take his medication, he doesn't do that well," a neighbor told the newspaper.
Neighbors told the newspaper that said Secret Service agents in suits and driving government cars appeared on the street Wednesday night.
They tried to speak with Moshe, but he did not answer the door, neighbors said.
The chase began in Westchester shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday.
The suspect got onto the northbound 405 Freeway and was followed by several units from the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Division, as well as two LAPD helicopters.
The driver of the Beetle exited the freeway at Wilshire Blvd. and drove into the parking lot of the Federal Building, located at 11000 Wilshire Blvd.
The suspect appeared as though he was going to turn himself in but instead he drove turned around in the building's parking lot and tried to flee.
However, patrol units were able to block him in around 10:22 a.m.
Veteran Avenue has been shut down during the standoff and occupants in two nearby passenger vehicles have been safely removed from the scene.
UCLA campus police are also involved in the standoff.
The LAPD bomb squad is using its robot as officers try to coax the suspect out of the vehicle.
It's also believed the device is being used to determine who is inside the car.
Police are also evacuating an apartment building across the street as a precaution.
No injuries have been reported in the incident.

See... that's what I was wondering, but it makes NO sense that they'd keep that many vehicles, people, etc crowded around him if it was true.
Are you hearing anything from your local news folks other than the earliest info (posted above by Breeta and others)?
Maybe its a special California thing- they need to contact his psychiatrist, his medium, and his Feng Shui practitioner to see when the most auspicious time will be to tell the robot to rip the roof off the bug and pull him out?
I dunno... maybe they're just hoping they bore everyone so bad that all the lookylous and the camera crews go home?
