I really loved the stuff with the Klingons, Worf, and Picard. Reminds me of us and the Soviets. Sheep Dog and Coyote. They are ready to have a beer after work. The Borg stuff is a bit too real. ‘City On The Edge of Forever’, no doubt.

I was so mad at the ending of the first season of the Picard series, that I refuse to watch any more. I quit 'Enterprise' after the first episode. I couldn't really get all that much into 'Voyager'; certainly I never cared for Janeway. I haven't seen the other, newer series.

My faves are still TNG and DS9, though who could not love Spock and McCoy from TOS? (As a teenaged girl at the time, I loathed Kirk for his womanizing.)

I do like the newer TOS reboot movies (and surprisingly, I actually like Kirk in those, though I still dislike the original Kirk). They will not be recasting Chekov in the fourth movie, though.

All of this reminds me.... Many years ago, we had a Dalmatian mix. She was beautiful, and feminine, and I wanted a fitting, exotic, SF or fantasy name for her. We settled on 'Ilia'. (At that time, there had only been the one TOS movie.) She was a great dog. (And no, she wasn't bald!)

We're up to episode 8 in the Picard series, season 3. All the old Next Gen crew is back at the end, except Wesley Crusher, thank God. Looks like the last two episodes will wrap up everything. My prediction is, Data becomes human at the end, Picard might die and his son will debut in a new series at some point in the future. I can see a lot of these characters continuing on after Patric Stewart leaves. It will still be a good series.

Here is a good link to watch for free. Not the most trusted site, so beware. I haven't had any issues.

I just finished watching Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season 2 Episode 7 and at the end it looks like they reveal they might be on acid or something similar. Very strange episode.

Season 2 Episode ? (maybe 6 ?) where Spock becomes fully human is hilarious.

Won't give the whole thing away but the part about the bacon, is awesome. Had me in stitches, and choking for air.

Just checked it out it's episode 5

Breaking...
It's being reported that Gene Roddenberry's corpse has begun uncontrollable puking after the airing of episode 9.

Yes, it's that bad.

I'm pretty sure I've seen every ST production released pre 2015-16. Most were entertaining, some more than others and, I don't consider myself a Trekkie.

My DW on the on the other hand is a complete Nerd about almost everything ST. She tolerates the original, thinks NG is the best, is iffy about ST-V and loathes DS9. She never got into ST-E (S Bacula as Archer) but admits she never saw the whole series.

I on the other hand saw every episode at least x2 and lamented it's passing; to me it had good bones but just never hit it's stride so didn't make the 5 season mark; too bad in my view. I've heard/read the lack of a compelling musical theme was a huge mistake by the creative team.

I do think a relevant score goes a long way towards success on either screen. How many watched Miami Vice for the music & Miami backdrop, not D Johnson et al?

I viewed all the other ST series as sort of closed loop/limited series; the current woke/re-imagined releases? AacKK! cough! SpeW!! HaCk/hUrL!!.

I think the TNG's episode "The Inner Light" is probably the one the had the biggest impact emotionly on me. Where Picards "real" life consisted of living in a highly complex, technological and disciplined society, his "alternative" life was simple, off the grid, and laid back, which was completely alien to Picard during the transistion. Living for 40 years in the alternative life, he finally learned that he could have a successful, full-feeling life, full of love and personal relationships missing in his real life.

While my life and career are probably above average (not to say I have had more then my share of downsides and disappointments), it makes you think and imagine at my age about "what if" I had taken different paths in my earlier life and lived completely different careers and lifes.

I was talking to MzK on the AI thread, and we got around to talking about Star Trek Next Gen (particularly Commander Data.) This got me to thinking about Star Trek franchises and various episodes from them. So I thought I’d post this thread. I’m going to give some thought to my own answer before I post it, but I’d love to hear all yours.
Though the original kirk series was tough to sit through with the cheesy effects. I did manage to watch all 3 seasons. Each series I have a favorite episode. But I grew up with Star Trek the Next Generation and have watched it all the way through several times. PICARD blows all of the series away. Best series yet. And the last few episodes of the last season of PICARD yeah. Killer. I have not watched Discovery though.

For TOS, its “Journey To the Edge of Forever”

For TNG, my fav was “The Perfect Mate”

For DS9, it’s “It’s Only A Paper Moon” as well as the series finale “What We Leave Behind”

For Voyager, it’s (probably) “Fairhaven” and its sequel “Spirit Folk”

For Enterprise - nothing. Not a fan

I've been enjoying Strange New Worlds. I really wanted Enterprise to be about the foundations for Starfleet, but was extremely disappointed with the temporal war stuff. The last season of Enterprise was completely out in left field because of the Evil Univere story that took up the season. I loved Seven of Nine, but couldn't stand Captain Blithe....err Janeway. I really liked DS9. Picard has been kinda meh. It was a bit of a shocker how Starfleet became so dark.

I believe I've probably watched every episode of most of them at least once...due to hanging around while my dad watched them when they originally aired, and more randomly while DH watched (over and over and over) decades later. Neither was a nerdy "Trekkie", but both sure addicted...LOL! In fact we're now on a yearly subscription to Paramount + for DH. :) I'm starting to watch Picard with him; I know enough that I can follow (with a few annoying questions to DH...LOL!) and I've always liked Picard. (It's also kind of like Dial of Destiny or 1923 with Harrison Ford...one last adventure...makes me feel old...which I am!)

Reading through this thread gave me the idea to start watching in actual order since we now have access to everything. I needed a show to binge watch anyway. I started with TOS and wow, they are delightfully cheezy...LOL!

So thank you all; of course I don't have a favorite yet, but I'm having fun!

"Apologies" - Star Trek Strange New Worlds

Rt 2;45
The song may be Apologies, by Spock but the name of the episode is "Rhapsody".

Everybody sings. And the only way to break out of the "zipper" is for everyone to sing at the same time, that's where the Klingons come in. They were close by, and got caught in the "zipper.

Nothing about the episode was good, IMHO.

Strange New Worlds episode 5 where Spock becomes human is fall of the couch funny. But so far nothing, or at least not much has been, save the Universe heroic type stuff. It's all stupid stuff Enterprise gets caught up in. Did have a few good episodes like that in season 1.

The last season of Picard is Universe Heroic type stuff. Pulls in some really old stuff, from DS9 and Voyager, updates it for a "kill everyone in the Alpha Quadrant", and we win.

I'm a little late to be a Trekkie, did watch some, but did not do a mind bending thing to get overly involved, and just realized that everything that took place on/in Star Trek was all within the Milky Way Galaxy. Klingons, Borg, different Quadrants etc.... all in our Galaxy. Here I was thinking it was across the Universe.

It took me a long time to warm up to Voyager. I’ve never been able to stand Kate Mulgrew, and her Janeway character was no exception. During first run, I may have watched four or five episodes. Then one time I was looking for something to binge on, and that show popped up. I started in, and actually began to enjoy the series. The person I ended up not being able to stand was her woke first officer Chakotay. Total pussy.

To bad the Borg didn't get a chance to do a song and dance routine.

Ah, Dear Ms. Mulgrew. Part of the reason you can't stand her is her dyed in the Wool Dem leanings. She is a VERY classic Dem.

I knew her hubby back in my "Old Daze". "Taxin' Tim Hagan". He's from the CLE area and I knew him when I got to playing around with some other Dem's in Cuyahoga County.

And it's just "Tribbles" for me.

I'm currently rewatching the Enterprise series and really enjoying it except for the theme song. WTH were they thinking?
