In the past i have always viewed all the hype about imminent terror attacks and the threats from the islamic web sites with a great deal of sceptisism. I can say that never once have i actually believed these periods of fear would actually culminate in any sort of attack on America.

I just have to say that this is no longer the case. I cannot say why this time I feel it to be different but it is. I feal it deap down that something has changed.

But within the last week, matters have taken a much more serious turn in my view. I think that it may be that we are now getting a confirmation of sorts from the Administration, and from leaders of the Party in opposition. Further, Senator Daschal, the very partisan Minority Leader of the Senate, has opined that the Administration would never play politics with something like 'this'.

In my case, it is fueled by several things. The 'spooky relative' thread in BS and the Congress being briefed to expect 100K US casualties. Also, the success AQ had with their efforts in Spain leads one to expect that they will try here. Doesn't matter that we're not like the Spanish in this reqard. They THINK we are, and that's enough for them to try. The only think I wonder is, it has been noted several places that AQ is very patient and long thinking. It has been noted that 8 years elapsed between the first and second attacks on the WTC. Does that mean we actually have until 2009 before the really big attack? Don't know, just food for thought. Based on what I've read here this summer, I finally got a kerosene heater and more water and medical supplies. The elections wouldn't have to be postponed to screw with them. All that would be needed would be a terrorist attack in one of the states that has a large electoral college. California would be ideal. See which way the rest of the nation is going on election day and if you (i.e. the terrorist of whatever flavor) don't like it, mess with California. I didn't realize just how pessimistic I felt about future events until yesterday - having recently moved from eastern NC, my family doc is still there, a five hour drive away.
I had an appointment for the 20th, which was all right with me, but yesterday they changed it to the 26th, and the hair on the back of my neck stood up. I don't want to be five hours from home on the 26th. I need the meds he'll prescribe when I see him, so I don't feel as if I have any choice. Not every doc will write the scripts he writes for me. I also always get free samples of asthma meds I need, and am counting on them to boost my stash of meds. Looks like the old rock and a hard place - damned if I do, damned if I don't. A ten hour drive is a long roadtrip any way you look at it - but this one is going to worry me until it's over. I hate feeling this nervous.
