Through sickness and in healthI agree with your wife about the adult coloring books. Make sure to get her a crayon sharpener. And Barry, you’re the example of what a good spouse should be... for better or for worse. God bless you!

Through sickness and in health
I always vac sealed mine in a 1/2 gallon jar with the jar lid adapter.Banana chips soaked in water make great banana bread.
This is one of our indulgent comfort foods.
I've tried vacuum sealing but it seems to cut through the bag quickly.
They keep well so this isn't much of an issue.
For those that do not know, this is a military P-38 can opener. There is one that is slightly larger that is a P-51.
They are very cheap, and can be stashed in almost any size kit.
Great Idea.Years ago I bought a bag of 100 of those bigger P-51s. I then taped one to the top of every other big Mountain House-type can I owned (to the metal, but under the plastic lid). That way in an emergency, I'd never be looking for a way to open them.
Our local hospitals are packed with babies! I know of several girls who are due soon! Just a heads-upI actually haven't heard of that many. A few yes, but from families that already had kids. But "extra" kids? No. Unless you are talking about the hollyweird crowd where they are having kids now with the expectation of going back to work and needing to have their figure back.
Ha-! Love mine too! No double chins-only eye makeup and go!We are and have had the healthiest year in our lives.
Unvaccinated, still distancing, still sanitizing. As old folks it is an easy choice.
I was verbally accosted at Costco for mask wearing.
I told the senior citizen I just got back from Texas and my brother knew the monkey pox patient.
The senior citizen scurried away.
I like the masks in that I can mutter and and frown and no one is the wiser.
Plus I don’t have to pluck my old lady chin hairs.
And yes, we wear out masks correctly.
I'm worried about COOL AIR! It doesn't really cool off here until the end of October! We do have a couple of those battery operated Blaux coolers we could use in 1 room in our basement! Have plenty of batteries too!A tent in your living room will also help keep you warm if heat goes out in the winter.

I had a very non-prepper person tell me to stock up because new lockdowns are coming. If she's buying extra I'd guess a lot of people are.
That's a pretty good sign the herd is waking up.I had a very non-prepper person tell me to stock up because new lockdowns are coming. If she's buying extra I'd guess a lot of people are.
I remember how to open a can with a butcher knife. But I do have several manual can openers, have always used that kind and have never had an electric can opener.PLEASE if your putting a can opener in your car, use a real one, they fed us out of cans usually 6 days a week, these little things are a pain, ( they do work great tho) take a lot of effort and a older person with bad fingers wont be able to use it,
if you dont tave a can opener, rub the crimped end of the can on kind of smooth concrete, like a parking lot stop, back and forth will wear off the crimp. but watch carefully you dont dump the contents on the ground.
Very sound advise.Taking some cash/metal reserves out, and putting it into tangibles might be a good idea right now if you have no other option in order to stock deep and wide.
Very sound advise.
Yup, exactly right. We've taken my own advice. We have never felt it a good idea to have all of our eggs in one basket. We diversify our funds. I have a nice cash emergency fund set aside as one of those baskets. Right now, I'm using some of those funds to stock up even more while things are available, and the prices are reasonable. It might not be an emergency for us right now, but what about in a few months?

I tend to do things in thirds...like storage of things.
1/3 in one place 1/3 in another and 1/3 in another. One gets wiped out/taken / confiscated you still have 2/3.

Target nearly wiped out, and School doesn't start here until Sept 1.
Zip Lock Freezer Bags for getting hard to find around here. I need the gallon size and no store has them
I'd buy you a beer anytime!I agree with your wife about the adult coloring books. Make sure to get her a crayon sharpener. And Barry, you’re the example of what a good spouse should be... for better or for worse. God bless you!
That is not far awayAfrican Swine Flu has been found in the Dominican Republic, something that hasn't been found around here for 40 years. If it gets here in the US, expect a lot higher pork prices

True, as far as the big commercial operators go. But there are many thousand smaller producers who raise a few dozen or few hundred pigs along with other small farming ventures, and they aren't nearly as careful. Plus, many try to cut costs by feeding waste human food to them... while I think its technically illegal to feed waste meat to hogs, most aren't concerned about "the rules".Most of the swine producers are ultra careful about disease. They seldom let anyone into their production facilities and require boot/shoe dips to prevent anything being carried in. Same is true for turkey or chicken facilities. This is their income so they are extremely diligent about caring for their animals. One man that hauls liquid eggs cannot even go onto a property where there are chickens even when he's off work.

Absolutely. Thankfully, they haven't become a problem around here- yet.Two words of concern: Wild Pigs.
