Has No Life - Lives on TB
I woke up this morning and was going straight into a stress/panic attack with no discernible reason why. So I ran through the a process for focusing on what is happening in my immediate surroundings. And when I did the scent part, I grabbed a tiny jar of EO mix that I had made months ago for the EO machine. That snapped it hard and made it clear that the base issue was that I woke up hangry. Being hangry while not fully awake rolled the panic mechanisms and started my brain down the stress path. I'm also pretty sure that the return of cloudy skies with no sunshine isn't helping either. But since I've made that first breakthrough, I'm going to go make breakfast and get started on the to-do list.

Moldy, that sounded very interesting. I looked on line and found copies of 'Foods That Will Win the War and How to Cook Them'; then went to Amazon and found that it was available on Kindle Unlimited! I also ordered a hard copy for $5.85; $6.27 with shipping. I love the flexibility of the Kindle, but decided I wanted a hard copy as well.

Looks like it is also available through Perlego, which I am not familiar with.

This may upset some folks; and some of you may not feel it belongs in this thread, but I need to say it - Folks, if you do not have an Advanced Directive for Health Care and a designated POA, get it done. I just lost one of my best friends. He had made me his POA for Health Care, as he did not want his brothers and sisters to have to make the hard decision as he did not want to create a schism in the family, and figured that if they got angry with me over the decision, that I could handle it. Please, please take care of this.

I've always believed that the Lord doesn't give us more than we can handle, but right now, I think he's giving me too much credit on the handling part. I am blessed that his family understood my decision, even though it was not the decision some of them would have chosen.

DH was put in that same situation. His wife was dying and agonizing death from cancer and he told them to not put her on life support. His daughter and the wife's mother were angry at him, but he stuck to his decision, she was in horrible pain.

Has anyone dehydrated sweet potatoes? The reason I ask is that Cary picked up a bag of dried sweet potato treats for our dog. He absolutely loves them, and I'm thinking, since sweet potatoes are so cheap here in Mississippi, I would try to make them myself. Do I just slice them really thin, and put them in my dehydrator? Can you dry them in the oven, too?

Prayers going up for you, Renee.

No tooth pain at all today, so far!

I am continuing to “rest and recover“ and have loved having time to read again. It has been great!
I made a menu plan for us for the week and have ten days thought out with no need to go to the grocery store. That feels really good! So thankful for our pantry and freezers.

Laundry and dishes are current. Cold here, but we have the wood stove going.

Hubby has decided he wants to build a greenhouse so he is busy planning and designing that and thinking through all options.

Slow and steady -

My tooth is somewhat better this morning, but I'm going to call my dentist office back tomorrow to see if they can work me in one day next week. I really don't want to drag this out until February. I'm afraid to wait much longer, because of infection possibly setting in. I'm already getting a bad earache from it, and a swollen gland just under my ear. I can't get an antibiotic without seeing him first. If push comes to shove, I'll call my PCP to try and get one from him, or go to a "walk in" medical clinic.

Cary and I, both, have several gift cards to shop with, today. We'll shop with those, after we go to my PCP's office to get my insurance changed over. DS and DDIL want to meet us at OutBack for our dinner out, tonight. We'll probably be dragging by the time we get back home. If I can fit it in, and I'm not too exhausted, I'm shopping for new dress clothes for myself, too. I'm taking pain meds with me in case my tooth starts acting up, again.

Cary ordered us another 3 #10 cans of cheese powder this morning for long term storage. I thought I had more than what I have, so will fill that gap. I like Augason Farms brand.
How do you use the cheese powder

How do you use the cheese powder

I've got all of mine in our long term food storage. I haven't opened a can, yet, but I plan to use it to make cheese sauce for any number of uses. My mom used it for that purpose, and she says it makes good cheese sauce. I gave her a can of mine back when Y2k happened, and nothing developed from it. She got a lot of my long term storage food back then.

Renee~ I’m so sorry about your friend.

I finally got started on the pantry this week. I’ve come a long way but still have a ways to go. I’m doing a complete overhaul in there and still figuring out a few things as I go LOL. I took the day off from it yesterday because I was just so tired between the work and the weather playing havoc with my body. So the Princess and I read lots of stories and did lots of coloring. I wish I was the artist at drawing that she thinks I should be!

I got started back in the pantry today and had DH re-adjust one of the metal shelving units for me to (hopefully) better utilize the space. I‘m going through everything in there, found 3 boxes of butterscotch pudding mix that expired in 2011, how that got overlooked for so long is beyond me. Some crushed pineapple that tasted tinny, DH gave one to the chickens but they didn’t seem interested so the rest went to the compost. I don‘t even know why I had crushed pineapple since it’s not a regular thing for us to use, maybe for youngest grandson *shrug*. I was also surprised by how many cans of whole cranberry sauce we had on hand, date is slightly out and I’ll open one to check how it tastes and decide if I need to purge it. I was down to one can of pumpkin so after checking prices I had DH pick up 6 cans of Great Value brand from Walmart. I was really hoping to find some on clearance after the holidays but $1.47 was the best price I could find. Some of us really like pumpkin pie and all of love pumpkin bread!

A local store had a bulk buy of slab bacon, 15 lbs for $35.20 plus tax. DSIL and DD bought one the last time they had the sale and really liked it so DH bought one yesterday and we had bacon sandwiches last night. The bacon is slightly thinner sliced than the Wright bacon but was very good so he decided to buy another box today, but then he came home with 2 boxes instead. He divided up and vac packed the first box last night into 1 1/2 lb packs for the freezer. Our grandkids love bacon. So preps this week have been pumpkin and bacon.

Dh and I are still working on our pantry overhaul. I walk in that room and I'm amazed at the what has transpired. There is still a ways to go but so much has gotten done. I have my precious DH to thank for all he had done, which has been the lions share. I thank him constantly and praise the Lord for it too. Dh has arranged things differently than I would have done but what ever he wants to do. At least he didn't order a dumpster to toss it all.

Twice I've knocked something off and it landed on my foot with just flip flops on. The time today I swear the pain made me dizzy.

I've ordered 4 more cases of 1/2 gallon jars, two have come already and the other two are due on Monday. And two cases of wide mouth quarts.

I've run across a tote of Compleats that I probably bought in 2019 after we had a 6 day power outage in May of that year. I also ran across a small bucket of Deer Creak soups that had been sealed and they are in pristine condition. There is also a larger bucket that has whole wheat pasta in it and it is also in pristine condition. I'm sealing that one back up with a hand warmer and some bay leaf. maybe some one some day will want to eat it. We get a lot of pasta in commodities.

I've done absolutely nothing today, except wash another load of laundry. I put them in the dryer, instead of hanging them to dry. I'm just really tired, today.

So, I've been sitting here looking for all kinds of homemade dog treats. As expensive as they are in the stores, I'm copying several to start making myself. I found a quick and easy way to do sweet potato chips in the oven, and several peanut butter cookies for dogs. Just do a Google search for homemade dog treats. Much cheaper.

I've got a large pot of homemade meaty spaghetti sauce on the stove for spaghetti for our supper tonight. It will be enough for 2 meals.

Still no tooth pain, but I can tell it's still sore when I eat. Will continue with the peroxide rinse.

Did menu planning tonight. I think that is a good way for me to use up leftovers and make sure I'm not wasting as much. I will need to pick up a few things from the store, but not much. Most will come from the pantry and freezer.

We had a friend staying in our guest house for the last few weeks until she could get finished up with her job and move. She left behind a few things in the fridge (cottage cheese, sour cream, salsa, milk, lunch meat, cheese, cream cheese) and freezer (taquitos and pizza). She won't be back, so they will get used at our house. She also left a TV that she said was broken, but I think it will go to BIL as the screen is not cracked and he might be able to tinker with it and fix it. I certainly don't want to pay to have it taken to the dump.

I have discovered that spraying the shingles with colloidal silver mostly stops the pain and the itch...it has been a real blessing to have less pain and itch...it has really shortened the skin part the silver dryes the blisters up and my eye doctor agrees with that and all things natural....but the eye is something else.....thank you all for your prayers..it is a great comfort to me...

Actually Melaluka tea tree oil helped with the topical pain and itching.

Since its a virus have you tried L-Lysine?
I had double pneumonia in 1980 and every year after at same time until 2000 when i met my TCM doctor now dear friend.
Once he educated me that almost all disease starts in the gut and how to boost my immunity prevent and heal.
Before that i had horrible fever blisters. At one point so bad and deep a doctor discussed skin grafts but before that he told me get on L-Lysine.
Once those cleared in short time I take it everyday. If i get the itchy tingle burn I might be getting one I swallow 1000 the 1500 extra mg and its is stop at that stage.
You can't overdose because it passes out in urine. Before our food sources became industrialized we got enough of the ammino acid L-Lysine in our food.
I use a L-Lysine salve in winter for dry chapped lips.

We add protein powder to our coffee and tea twice a day everyday for years...it is nothing but ammino acids...it contains L-Lysine so we have plenty of that in our systems... It comes from grass fed cow hides..wonderful stuff...basically collagen powder.. which is every cell in the body
This virus is from the chicken pox virus from childhood...it stays in your body and can reactivate when you are older..as shingles ..and boy I qualify as older since I turned 76 in December...the itchy..stinging..rash and blistering part is over....and only lasted a few days...less than a week to dry scabs..from what I have read the blisters and pain most generally last between 2 to 4 weeks.... vitamin D3 is a monster killer of Virus...this the only time either dh or I have had a virus anything since we moved to this house in 1999...we normally do 10,000iu per day..but kicked it up to 30,000iu as soon as we realized it was shingles....it began in my eye lid and looked like styes on the edge of the eye lid...stye is bacterial....so for the first couple of days we followed the hot compress stye bit...as soon as the rash appeared we moved to virus mode..on Saturday and it was nearly dried up by Tuesday morning...when the doc saw me.
The shingles are done..just the eye swelling and pressure are the concern at this point...so the eye has to heal now
I agree that 90% of your immune system is in your gut....and I agree with the things you have written...I am delighted that you have add more information about healing with other things

I do the same kind of collagen myself, only I cut the amount recommended in half and use it once in my coffee. Its too expensive for me to use the recommended dose.
