DH said that it might be possible to mound more dirt over your water lines....know it won't help if the community water freezes but in the future may keep your lines from freezing...it would be a project...not something that you could do quickly.....but if they are correct about the solar minimum...and continuing cold winters..it might be worth considering...
Did you get your carbon monoxide detector working?Prepping for this weather coming in!!
The RV is already COLD.....and with temps predicted to be below ZERO, I am creating a TENT inside the RV.
THIS SHOULD work pretty well......already having DAN-DAN and the OATIE GOATIE sleeping under the covers with me!!
OK, so you think I am gross!!! Don't really give a rip!! It will help us ALL survive!! I have Oatie (Bubba Goat) in a cloth diaper, with a plastic pants on him.....plus, I put his bottom half inside one of my felt planting bags. Thus far, and we have been doing this for a couple of weeks, he has not done ANYTHING in his diaper AT ALL!! What a SMART OATIE GOAT!!
Personally, I prefer Oatie in my bed than some of the human males I have met!! Oatie and I OBVIOUSLY HAVE A PURELY PLATONIC RELATIONSHIP!!!!
We have enough propane to get us through till the first....and I get my SS on the 3rd.
TODAY ......I have to get the BIG dogs inside the old house, so they won't freeze to death, and refill all my water jugs. Then disconnect ALL the plumbing and drain all the pipes. Going to be a FUN DAY!!
Also have an electric blanket for as long as we have power.....this is going to be one HECK OF A WEEKEND!!

Oatie Goatie (Bubba) is a small Nigerian Dwarf so he will be tiny to begin with. He is VERY SMART and understands simple commands....like "come here" "NO" "move" and "stop." He is quite sweet and I care a great deal for him!! I think I will band him and keep him as a pet. I have never done that to a goat, so I will start researching it.Did you get your carbon monoxide detector working?
Also, you may find you don't need to make the baby wear diapers... when we had the tiny (14#) preemie calf in the house for her first month of life, she housebroke in about three days. When I discovered that the only place she was peeing/pooping was on the fleece blankets I had down for her bed in our office, I replaced them with puppy pee pads. Never did have to clean up after her!
Are you going to castrate him? It sounds like he'll make a heck of a pet and companion, although if he's not a dwarf, you're going to have space problems in a few months! Banding him would be easy, and the younger the better!

Please do keep that ventilation opening OPEN, no matter how cold it gets! You had ALL the symptoms of CO poisoning, and that's nothing to ignore! I was seriously concerned you could die in your sleep... one symptom is mental confusion and lethargy which often prevents victims from saving themselves.Oatie Goatie (Bubba) is a small Nigerian Dwarf so he will be tiny to begin with. The carbon monoxide alarm apparently does not work....does not light up when battery is in, do sample alert...nothing. I spent the last bit of my money on propane, so will have to wait until the 3rd, when I get my SS deposited. I think you are quite right though, as I noticed the headaches come Everytime we get near the end of a tank, or when I am changing the tanks!! I have made a small hole near the window by the bed and find that has helped quite a bit. It actually seems to be the heater leaking, it is a BIG BUDDY heater. I need to check out the maintenance stuff on the internet and see if I can
Yeah, I know......after you said that, I realized I was also rather dull, mentally. I am being VERY CAREFUL now because I don't want to damage myself any more than I already have!! Plus, the babies can be easily overcome!!Please do keep that ventilation opening OPEN, no matter how cold it gets! You had ALL the symptoms of CO poisoning, and that's nothing to ignore! Last night at church one of the ladies complained that her 18 year old daughter had used up all of her medical tape and used scotch tape to hold a bandage on her leg. I asked her if she kept a supply of the tape and she said yes, but the daughter had used it all. The Wednesday night church folks are all excited about the new Dollar General that is close by.
Then again my idea of a supply of something is not what normies idea is. I have back ups of back ups, but then I'm not normal.
The Wednesday night church folks are the salt of the earth and I love them. I am thinking about leaving the contents of my house and all the out buildings to the church people when we die. The land goes to my niece. I don't dwell on this but my brother was going to take care of things and he died.
DH and I are making a tiny dent on organizing the pantry, but we are working on it every day. So much to day and without help I would never get it done.
The temperature at 4:00 pm will be 41 and at 11:00 pm it will be 21 and falling. Last night I finally got DH to put on a robe and he has it on over his clothes this morning. I have another one that I don't like quite as well because its a pull over and drags the floor, but what ever, he needs to wear a robe. I put on my very cold weather night gown last night, satin lined with flannel and a pair of long underware bottoms. so I was nice and warm.
I love that stuff. DD is allergic to any adhesive productI have yards and yards of rolls of the self-adhering elastic bandage wrap. Cary is getting cuts all the time working with wood. He's hairy and doesn't like tape sticking to his skin. Pulls the hair right off, OUCH!

Ask the nurse for the tourniquet too - they throw them away (at least where I work) and they are great for opening jars
Vet wrap is the pretty much the same thing as the self adhering bandage wrap, and is wider.
