They need to turn that thing off now. Just look at all the pollution! AOC/ilk are going to have a hissy fit.....especially if anyone dares to compare it to what us lowly humans eject into the sky. Not only that, but the way it's putting all that stuff on only one side of the island, Hank Johnson might have his fears come true, it might capsize! :shkr::hof:

Her type on the volcano chats keep saying that people put more pollution into the air in one day than all the volcanoes together put into the air in over a year. They are crazy and luckily, only a few post on the volcano chat I read sometimes.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings any if they would just throw her evil behind in the volcano as a sacrifice.....

New vents have opened up.

I haven't verified yet, but read that the lava flows from the new vents will be flowing towards new areas.

One of the new vents is on the left side and just below the smoke area I saw and posted about yesterday in post #597.
The other new vent is on the right side of the lava stream and below the flowing vent (aka baby vent).

ETA 9:28 PM CDT: someone on chat said the ones on left are from fires started from lava bombs; falling cinders that can't be reached to put out. I believe it, they are spreading fast now.
Or, maybe it is lava flowing. Hard to tell, but how quickly it has spread out, a fire would make sense.

hmmm, could be lava. not sure. vents popping up in lots of places.

taken from one of the chats: Tweet from someone on the island says new vents opening up at the bottom of crater.

Nana note: ^^^ I haven't been lurking on twitter, so I haven't seen the tweet, no reason at moment to not believe it.

think combo...new vents and fires being started by falling lava bombs, cinders etc.

According to bushcraft bear la Palma was already in the throes of a massive drought and then this happened. The locals are more worried about the volcano starting wildfires than they are the lava.

It's probably a big deal to the island residents, as it seems to have cut off a main roadway, but otherwise, it's probably the only "new and exciting" thing to report on.

Plus the visuals are excellent, which is the #1 way you make it to the nightly news. If all this were happening where nobody could see the fireworks (e.g., underwater), you wouldn't hear a peep.

If this thing does slide, falls or slips into the ocean, I think a tsunami would be way less of a concern, especially if the Atlantic turns to blood.

Looking at the live feed this morning and it looks like a cone is building on the hill behind the main eruption site. There is steam or smoke coming from both sides of this hill and from the camera's perspective the hill sure looks like a cone. What do y'all think? Does this look like a cone that is growing and changing shape? I hope I am wrong.

Why do you think is a cone something to be concerned about? It's what volcanoes do (generally speaking). Heck, the island chain itself (like Hawaii) is essentially just volcanic cones that breached the surface.

Just blowing off steam is a good thing, I hope, but when land pushes up there are explosive forces underground pushing it up. This eruption is about 3000 feet in elevation while the mountain behind it is about 5 to 6000 feet in elevation and it's where the rift or separation is that is worried to be the place from which any landslide would originate. I'm optimistic the eruption will stay where it is now because if it moves toward the peak then who knows. Already there are earthquakes happening on the tall peak. I'd like to see the force behind this eruption play out down below at the 3000' level but if a cone is forming then it seems worrisome to me. I don't like this situation one bit.

Well, I look at it a little differently.

The eruptions is at about 3K feet, with 5-6K feet of mountain above it. That 2-3K feet of mountain above the eruption is supported by the mountain underneath it. If the eruption causes things to let go, what is above it will lose its structural support and will join the party.

Just saying....

So looking at the ash build up, was that carbon's, mag, aluminum and light minerals with low flash points. While the lava being salts and crud.
Then shouldn't there be a pot of the heavy metals below somewhere?

If the tsunami were to occur and hit the US, I was all smug thinking that we are on the west coast and for once, there would be an advantage to being here. Then I was thinking that if it was a really bad tsunami, more than a foot or so, and really destructive . . . there goes the grid. For us all, until it gets bandaided back together with chewing gum and bailing wire and zip ties. Am I wrong? I hope so.

I hope the mountain holds together. Things are bad enough for the La Palma islanders, and the rest of the world without the big tsunami. Interesting times, we live in.

I wonder about the nuclear power plants that are in the lower areas. Are there any?

Even at 330’ or so in elevation here, about 15-20 miles from the coast, I’m thinking maybe I should start sleeping in one of the kayaks at night...

if this “mountain on fire” falls into the sea is the same One referred to in Rev 8:8, well, I happen to know that when God does something really BIG, nobody has any doubts about why their knees are trembling...

We are about 140 miles inland from the coast and a little over 200 on elevation.

Hopefully that is enough but if a tsunami wipes out the east coast, america is finished.

Will God allow it, I dont know.
