Several quakes in last hour, at least two over 3.0 (to me looked like 3 or 4, because I watched two fairly big ones happen in last few minutes).

Lava still not to ocean yet.

During the past 24 hours, La Palma volcano was shaken by 2 quakes of magnitude 3.0 or above and 7 quakes between 2.0 and 3.0.
Biggest quake today: 3.3 quake La Palma Island, 14 km southeast of Los Llanos de Aridane, Spain, Sep 28, 2021 5:23 pm (GMT +1) 26 minutes ago

Danielboon, what movie is that picture from? I remember the guy and the setting and the other guy with his kids (and ex plus new husband?)...looking for a map? I have this movie, but I just can't remember the name of it.

I was feeling smug because I was able to translate all of that spanish news note posted above except for one word, but then being so forgetful about the movie title sort of takes away any smug! (: (:

The movie is 2012 starring Woody Harrelson.

"Experts" :

1.There won't be an eruption.
2.There might be an eruption, but not this century.
3.An eruption is imminent, but it will be low intensity.
4.There is lava, but not enough and not fast enough to reach the sea.

Well...I guess the "experts" were dead wrong.

They also said "A landslide is so unlikely, it's impossible, and even if it was, a mega tsunami is virtually impossible."

I guess time will tell, but based on the "experts" prediction record for this volcano...

I don't understand why the lava reaching the sea is seen as such a big deal. This happens in the Hawaiian Islands, right? And other islands with volcanos, I'm assuming. It's how those islands were formed.

I hear you! Except for the potential dangers if people are utterly clueless and get close, that's whar lava in a undersea volcano DOES!

It's probably a big deal to the island residents, as it seems to have cut off a main roadway, but otherwise, it's probably the only "new and exciting" thing to report on.

A new vent seems to be trying? to open up above and to the left of the vent with the lava pouring out.
(per what I saw on afarTV live feed)

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRcs7KoiURg

unfortunately, now that it is dark there, you can't see it.
But, it was a smoking hot spot, which is how the last two vents looked for a day or two before they opened up.

Looking in the dark, it was below and to left of the top shooting up in air vent and above and to the left of the streaming vent. (the streaming one is below the shooting one)
