Japan has confirmed its intention to participate in Sea Breeze 2021 and to join the Joint Efforts 2021 exercises.
This was discussed at the Defense Minister Andriy Taran's meeting with his Japanese counterpart Nobuo Kishi in Tokyo (Japan), the press service of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense reported.
"The Japanese side confirmed the involvement of Japan's Self-Defense Forces in the Sea Breeze 2021 multinational exercises in Ukraine, and expressed readiness to join the Joint Efforts 2021 exercise," Taran said.
Also, Taran noted that the ministers had agreed to hold the second round of Ukrainian-Japanese consultations on security issues at the level of high representatives of ministries of defense and foreign affairs of the two countries in the "2 on 2" format in the fall of 2021.

Envoy Kravchuk doesn't rule out Russia's further invasion of Ukraine over lack of water in Crimea

Head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on Donbas Leonid Kravchuk does not rule out Russia's further invasion of Ukraine over the lack of water in occupied Crimea.
"I think the issue of water for Crimea will become more acute. I think this will be one of the reasons for Russia to advance from there to Ukraine. Kherson, Mariupol – they want to somehow break through this sector to Crimea to provide it with water. This will be one of the reasons for large-scale attacks or Russia's aggressive steps. This probability exists. But they will fail to make Ukraine supply water this way," he told RFE/RL's Ukrainian service in an interview.
"Now I see they want to turn Crimea into a military base, and Crimea has already been incorporated in the system of the Russian Federation, has become one of the districts, so now Russia is responsible for everything. And Ukraine will not supply water to Crimea, because we do not know who will get this water – citizens for irrigation, military plants or someone else. Russia is responsible for everything," Kravchuk added.

  • Prior to the occupation of Crimea by Russia, Ukraine used to cover up to 85% of the peninsula's demand for freshwater through the North Crimean Canal.
  • After Russia grabbed the Crimean peninsula in 2014, Ukraine severed water supplies there.
  • In 2020, the situation with water supplies in Crimea reached a critical level over droughts and shallowing of reservoirs. The occupying authorities limited the supply of water in many towns and villages.
  • The Ukrainian authorities claim the resumption of water supplies to Crimea would be possible only if Russia ceases its occupation of the peninsula.
  • At the same time, experts say it is technically impossible to restore water supplies to Crimea through the North Crimean Canal since it has become completely unusable over the past years.

U.S. bombers link up in North Atlantic skies in night-flying drill

By Mike Glenn - The Washington Times - Wednesday, March 17, 2021

A pair of U.S. Air Force B-1 bombers from Texas and two B-2 bombers from Missouri managed to find each other in the skies off the coast of Iceland for a series of drills designed to hone their night-flying skills.

The B-1 Lancers were from the 7th Bomb Wing at Dyess Air Force Base near Abilene, Texas while the B-2 Spirit bombers are assigned to the 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base, about an hour east of Kansas City, Mo.

On Tuesday, they came together to form a Bomber Task Force — a strategic mission designed to respond to any potential crisis or challenge across the globe.

“Bomber Task Force missions are critical to maintaining our global competitive edge,” said Lt. Gen. Stephen Basham, deputy commander of U.S. Air Forces in Europe-Air Forces Africa. “The importance of providing airmen the opportunity to train in unique environments can’t be overstated.”

Officials say such Bomber Task Force missions demonstrate both U.S. commitment to the collective defense of the NATO alliance and are a visible demonstration of the U.S. capability for extended deterrence.

US-Russia ties nosedive after Biden-Putin tit-for-tat
U.S.-Russia ties are nosediving after Russian leader Vladimir Putin shot back at President Joe Biden’s description of him as a killer

MOSCOW -- U.S.-Russia ties nosedived on Thursday after Russian leader Vladimir Putin shot back at President Joe Biden’s description of him as a killer.

The back and forth underscored Biden's desire to distance himself from former President Donald Trump's perceived softness on Putin despite actions his administration took against Russia. Although Biden agreed to extend a major arms control deal with Russia, he has been notably cool toward Moscow and highly critical of many of its activities
.

In taking a tough stance on Russia, Biden has said the days of the U.S. “rolling over” to Putin are done. And he has taken pains to contrast his style with the approach of Trump, who avoided direct confrontation and frequently spoke about Putin with approval.

In an interview broadcast Wednesday, Biden replied “I do” when asked if he thought Putin was a “killer.” Also Wednesday, U.S. intelligence released a report finding that Putin authorized influence operations to help Trump's re-election bid.

Later that day, Putin recalled his ambassador to the U.S. and on Thursday he pointed at the U.S. history of slavery and slaughtering Native Americans and the atomic bombing of Japan in World War II.

Responding to that, the White House said Biden would continue to look to work with Putin on areas of mutual concern but stressed that he was “not going to hold back” when he has concerns about Putin’s actions.

Putin had been asked about Biden’s comment during a video call marking the anniversary of Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea, and he responded along the lines of “it-takes-one-to-know-one,” saying his counterpart's words reflected the United States’ own problems. At the same time, he offered to have a phone call with Biden to discuss issues of mutual interest.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Biden would continue to look to cooperate on efforts to stem Iran’s nuclear program and, more broadly, nuclear nonproliferation. But she said Biden did not regret referring to Putin as a killer and pushed back against suggestions that the rhetoric was unhelpful.

“President Biden has known President Putin for a long time,” Psaki said. “They’ve both been on the global stage for a long time, worked through many iterations of a relationship between the United States and Russia. And he believes we can continue to do that.”

Psaki also dismissed Putin’s “it-takes-one-to-know-one” response, suggesting Biden was well aware of the United States’ own problems.

“The president believes that one of the greatest attributes of the United States is our honest self-reflection and our constant striving for progress, and there’s always more work to do,” she said.

Putin pointed at the U.S. atomic bombing of Japan, as well as its history of slavery and slaughtering Native Americans, noting the painful legacies weighing on the United States.

“Otherwise, where would the Black Lives Matter movement come from?” he said, citing racial injustice and the killing of African Americans.

The exchange of tough statements follows a declassified report from the U.S. national intelligence director’s office that found Putin authorized influence operations to try to help Trump in his failed bid to win reelection in November. The Kremlin has dismissed the report as baseless.

“(Putin) will pay a price,” Biden said in the interview when asked about the declassified report.

Biden’s administration warned that Russia would face sanctions soon over its attempt to influence the election and the massive SolarWinds hacks.

The spiraling tensions have brought U.S.-Russia relations to the point where they were at the end of President Barack Obama's administration, a chilly strain that differed markedly from Trump’s efforts to court Putin.

Asked what he would tell Biden in response to his remarks, Putin said: “I would tell him: ‘Be well.’ I wish him health, and I say that without any irony or joking.”

He noted that Russia would still cooperate with the United States where and when it supports Moscow’s interests, adding that “a lot of honest and decent people in the U.S. want to have peace and friendship with Russia.”

“I know that the U.S. and its leadership is generally inclined to have certain relations with us, but only on issues that are of interest to the U.S. and on its conditions,” Putin said. “But we know how to defend our own interests, and we will work with them only in the areas we are interested in and on conditions we see as beneficial to ourselves. And they will have to reckon with it.”

Speaking in separate comments later Thursday, Putin said he would ask the Foreign Ministry to arrange a call with Biden in the next few days to discuss the coronavirus pandemic, regional conflicts and other issues.

“We must continue our relations,” he noted. “Last time, President Biden initiated a call and now I would like to offer President Biden to continue our discussions. It would be in the interest of both the Russian and U.S. people and other countries, bearing in mind that we bear a special responsibility for global security as the largest nuclear powers.”

Other Russian officials and lawmakers were less diplomatic.

Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy head of Russia's Security Council who served as president in 2008-2012 when Putin had to shift into the premier’s job because of term limits, said that “time hasn’t spared" the 78-year-old Biden and cited Sigmund Freud as saying, “Nothing costs so much in life as illness and stupidity.”

And Andrei Turchak, the leader of the main pro-Kremlin United Russia party, described Biden’s remarks as a reflection of “the U.S. political marasmus and its leader’s dementia.”

Russia's relations with the United States and the European Union already had plunged to post-Cold War lows after Moscow's annexation of Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula, election meddling, hacking attacks and, most recently, the jailing of Russia's opposition leader Alexei Navalny after his poisoning, which he blamed on the Kremlin. Russian authorities rejected the accusations.

Not only can I confirm that things are heating up (please do not ask how) I have been asked to suggest that any hams on the forum may want to monitor traffic coming from this area for the next few days if they can.

The source asked me to spread this one far and wide so I am doing so, I don't know what you should be listening for other than possibly who is moving or doing what, where, and when?

But that's a guess, I gather Europe is quite on edge this morning even if it isn't in the MSM yet...

Yeah, as you so often say, don't need to be psychic or have the crystal ball for this one :(
.. I never realized how scripted and like a formal dance these war engagements actually are.

And who wins with a war between Ukraine and Russia that drags in the US and Nato?

China and Soros!

The minions and demo’s who run the US with the Biden/Harris puppets are answering to evil masters who do not wish us well and will lead us to very bad times.

With US distracted with a shooting war in the Balkans and a dance of death with the bear the middle east will flare up as opportunist’s continue to fight for control of the Islamic caliphate.

Then the stock market sell-off, oil price shock, weeee, fun times for all.

Makes me wonder about the likely veracity of those on the CoG list who are just far enough down the list to not be at the high table but close enough to see what they're eating and can trip up a server.

NATO warships train with Ukrainian Navy
By Lisa West
UK Defence Journal
March 19, 2021

Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group Two (SNMCMG2) has concluded a port visit to Odesa, Ukraine and a passing exercise (PASSEX) series with the Ukrainian Navy.

NATO say here that SNMCMG2, consisting of the flagship TCG Sokullu Mehmet Pasa (Turkey), ROS Lupu Dinescu (Romania), ESPS Tajo (Spain) and TCG Ayvalık (Turkey), arrived in Odesa on 10 March after patrolling the Black Sea for the past weeks.

“This port visit and exercises were an opportunity for us to strengthen our relationship with our close partner Ukraine in the Black Sea. Ukrainian Navy is highly professional, and any interaction with Ukraine as a partner is extremely valuable to us”, said Captain Yusuf Karagulle, Commander of SNMCMG2.

With three Allied nations, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey, and two regional partners, Ukraine and Georgia bordering the Black Sea, Standing Naval Group presence in the region is a regular occurrence.

Patrols by NATO Maritime Groups have increased over the last few years. There were five patrols in 2020.

Relations between NATO and Ukraine date back to the early 1990s and have since developed into one of the most substantial of NATO’s partnerships. Since 2014, in the wake of Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea, cooperation has been intensified in critical areas, including increased NATO presence in the Black Sea and stepped-up maritime cooperation with Ukraine and Georgia.

After completion of PASSEX activities the Group conducted a maritime patrol while proceeding towards the Mediterranean Sea to wrap up their first deployment of NATO maritime forces in the Black Sea in 2021.

18 NATO ships in the Middle Sea - Under the sounds of war marches sailed by the Russian Fleet (video) Russian Ministry of Defence: Is the Russian Fleet at war - Coverage for Ukrainian attack on Donbass?

Columnist: Vasilis Kapoulas
War News 247

The Russian Defence Ministry confirmed a moment ago that "all the submarines of the Black Sea Fleet have sailed and are in a state of war" by making public a video of the crew of a Russian submarine singing a military march!

According to a Russian military source, the reason for the direct military mobilisation is the concentration of 18 NATO warships in the Black Sea for a 10-day exercise.

The Russians fear that this military mobilisation will be used as a pretext for a Ukrainian attack on Donbass.

See here the crew of the submarine "Kolpino" singing a military march while in a state of war alert.

The surprise Russian military mobilization

The thriller that began in the morning culminates as today the entire Fleet was scheduled to be at the Naval Station due to the celebration of "Submarine Day". They celebrate 115 years since the formation of the force.

However, all fleet submarines, six in number, are on different missions, which is extremely rare for both the Russian Navy and all the world's warships.

The revelation was made by the Commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Vice Admiral Igor Osipov from the Naval Station of Sevastopol as first revealed in Greece by WarNews247.

The Vice Admiral has revealed that although the day is festive, none of the six submarines in the Black Sea fleet are in the naval station.

The Russian submarines that have sailed all belong to the Improved Kilo class (Project 636.3) nicknamed the "Black Hole" and carry Kalibr cruise missiles. These are:

– B-237 “Rostov-on-Don”

– B-261 “Novorossiysk”

– B-262 “Stary Oskol”

– B-265 “Krasnodar”

– B-268 “Veliky Novgorod”

– B-271 “Kolpino”

NATO Fleet Gathers in the Black Sea

A few days ago, American sources confirmed that NATO ships are gathering in the Black Sea. The Ticonderoga-class USS Monterey, which was on the battle group of the American aircraft carrier "Eisenhower" CVN-69, crossed the Strait and headed for the Black Sea.

Russian media reported that the reason for the sudden military mobilization is the concentration of NATO ships in the Black Sea.

These are 2,400 men from 8 states, 18 warships and 10 aircraft for the "Sea Shield 21" exercise to be held March 19-29.

Russian sources note that this is NATO's largest and most complex exercise of 2021 organised by Romania in the Black Sea.

Forces from Bulgaria, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Spain, the USA and Turkey will participate.

NATO's Standing NATO Maritime Group (SNMG-2) with the frigate "Queen Mary" will also participate.

What's going on with the Russian submarine "Rostov"

Following an Israelimedia report that the Russian submarine disappeared, a Russian Defence Ministry source told Novosti agency that the Russian submarine is in contact and is normally sending information.

Indeed, as the source said, the submarine has exceeded all expectations, as NATO forces have been trying to locate it for a week, but this is still unseen to carry out its mission normally.

Since March 6, NATO and Israeli aircraft have been searching for a Russian Kilo-class submarine in the An Mediterranean.

The movements of the Russian submarine closely monitor several U.S. Navy Boeing P-8A as well as Israeli aircraft along with Italian and British aircraft.

"We have not lost contact with the Russian submarine of the Black Sea Fleet "Rostov-on-Don".

NATO's anti-submarine forces have been trying to find it for a week unsuccessfully.

The NATO has assembled a large team and are searching for the submarine along with Israel in An. Mediterranean.

They haven't been able to locate it. It's about the Rostov-on-Don submarine.

The issue has been highlighted by Israeli media and that has its significance...
