Be safe, brother and stay out of the heat! It's going to be hot here today, but not that bad. I have a doctor's appt. in a nearby city today, so will be on the road much of the day. I'll be taking DW's truck which has AC, unlike my '68 Ford, which does not.
Usually, riding my bike keeps me cool at highway speeds, but in weather like this it doesn't help; riding in this heat is more like riding through a blast furnace! Most of us on this board are getting to be old pharts and we don't handle the heat nearly as well as we did when we were younger.
At least I know I don't!
Best
Doc
Every time you post that pic I wonder if you and I are the only ones who remember Totie Fields.
Mmmmm....... Roast Beef??No, but there COULD be a DEAD, BAKED BODY BACK THERE.., what's that WEIRD SMELL??
What's your kwh rate?I’m going to have to be uncomfortable for the next week. My electric bill is on-track to hit $500!
Interesting that you bring this up. Some folks may remember my attempt to grow tomatoes one year. I ended up with “big ass plants but no fruit.” The reason was the heat. The effect was two-fold: nights have to get under 70° at night for the fruit to set. Also, the heat during the day was so intense that it was necessary to water the plants every day. Missing even one day would make the plants wither within 12 hours. In short, you can’t grow tomatoes down here without them being enclosed in a “coolhouse”.With Bad Hands comment. I had a thought. I have get the sun “more intense” the last several years. Add into that the tomato production, in vastly different areas of the state and country, is way off. Big ass plants but no fruit. What’s up with the sun ? Sorry Dennis for the drift.
Please accept my apology, I am so sorry.Gotta take the wife to Penn tomorrow so thankful the parking garage is in the basement.
Sorry Penn med. Penn is so used around here everyone knows what you mean. Please accept my apology, I am so sorry.
I read that as: Gotta take the wife to the Penn tomorrow so thankful the parking garage is in the basement.
I was wondering what she was being imprisoned for.
My bad.
Naw you're good dude, seriously. It was all me, and after reading it a couple of times, I kind of thought you meant something like that. So again sorry, my bad.Sorry Penn med. Penn is so used around here everyone knows what you mean.
Offhand I don’t know. In Texas, one selects one’s power retailer from dozens of them. One signs a 6-24 month contract. I’m a member of a service that selects the lowest rate available among the retailers. the new contract (which I haven’t yet approved) has a rate of 17.1¢ per kWh.
Hit 109 for the third day in a row today. Tomorrow will be…. 109. This temperature ties the all-time record since the 1800’s. All week, lows will be 80 or so (record high low temps), and highs not less than 105, up through 108. That’s for the next seven days. Absolutely insane.
Did you take the total $$ and divided by the kw to include all the other fees and crap?I have that info. For the contract that ended last month, 9¢ per kWh. I fired the service and signed on to my current provider @ 14.4¢ per kWh. Long term contract. Power rates will never go down. That’s why I did a long-term.
Stay safe.I’m going to have to be uncomfortable for the next week. My electric bill is on-track to hit $500!
Insane and depressing, not to mention discouraging...my garden. I've managed to keep it mostly alive thinking this would end but with at least two more weeks of this, it would take a miracle.Hit 109 for the third day in a row today. Tomorrow will be…. 109. This temperature ties the all-time record since the 1800’s. All week, lows will be 80 or so (record high low temps), and highs not less than 105, up through 108. That’s for the next seven days. Absolutely insane.
My quote includes all fees. I made triple sure of that.Did you take the total $$ and divided by the kw to include all the other fees and crap?
I think we're .13 per kWh with all the fees.
