_______________
Temp estimates have been revised upward dramatically, with 110 forecast for today, and 108 for tomorrow. That’s up from 106 and 104 which was forecast yesterday. We’ve had 32 days over 100 now since June 1st. Normal is 12 for the season. Incredible, deadly heat.

I give up.
Do not leave your AC today, Dennis. It's too much.

We're supposed to get 90 here in NY today.

I just read England is supposed to get over 100 this week. They will melt.

Be safe, brother and stay out of the heat! It's going to be hot here today, but not that bad. I have a doctor's appt. in a nearby city today, so will be on the road much of the day. I'll be taking DW's truck which has AC, unlike my '68 Ford, which does not.

Usually, riding my bike keeps me cool at highway speeds, but in weather like this it doesn't help; riding in this heat is more like riding through a blast furnace! Most of us on this board are getting to be old pharts and we don't handle the heat nearly as well as we did when we were younger.

At least I know I don't!

I just went to the parking lot in Houston where my motor coach is parked to see if I could get out and back in so I could go fuel up in case of the power going out. It wasn't bad out yet. But no go on getting out and back into the lot. I have maybe 35 feet to turn a 45 foot bus around to park it when I get back....if I could even get out since they have now double parked a shit load of the big rental vans that are also here for the church youth convention.

Hoping that Wednesday morning we have power so I can refuel when I load up luggage at 7am. Then I have till 1pm before I leave Houston. I'm sitting on a little less than a half tank so I could get pretty far on that. It was full leaving Kansas City.

Here just north of Houston we hit 107 deg. yesterday, today is supposed to be 102 deg. Must stay in house all day!

Don’t let the Piss Ants get you down…
We’re north of Dennis in DFW. A bit cooler, but still over 100 and looking at 102 this afternoon. It’s brutal.

I say that as someone who’s spent a lot of time in extreme heat AND hasn’t had issues acclimating to heat and humidity.

But, as Doc points out, many of aren’t as young as we used to be and have to face up to the limitations of our aging bodies.

I’ve been cleaning some planting beds out back and use a five gallon bucket as my pace tool. I go out and when I fill the bucket with weeds and debris, I dump it in the bag and go back inside.

8 degrees lower and 400+ miles north. 102 today. It’s summer. Problem is, 400 miles north it’s -2 in winter when it’s 28 degrees there. When we get there it’ll be OMG it’s below freezing. Compromise sucks.

Just brutal heat this year, earlier and more often than usual.

Weather being what it is, you can't necessarily make a hard and fast extrapolation to what August (the usual "dog days") will be like. But it's been a barn burner so far, and even more records will break if it keeps up...

I remember 2011. I had a small ranch in Texas and had to set up misters for my livestock. It was hot and dry. 100 days of 100 degrees and higher and no rain. I had to buy hay from out of state and sell most of my goats because there was a water restriction. It’s not much better here in Southern Mississippi. June sucked with heat indexes in the one teens. I was on the roof yesterday trimming trees and cleaning gutters. I got overheated and dehydrated and wound up in the ER. I will be glad when Fall gets here. At least we will cool off into the 80’s - I hope.

Saved, to glorify God.
Made over $1000 today in just services calls, and only worked 6 hours.

Some times the heat is good!
My grandma used to say whenever anything BAD happened "It's an ill wind that blows NOBODY any good."!
SOMEONE ALWAYS profits, receives good,
by the flood, eq , tornado, broken fridge, car wreck, illness, death, or other misfortune!
It is a balance of good to bad.
