It's more of a civic duty issue, but whatever Kathy. Stay well.
No. You are talking about imposing what amounts to legal sanctions against someone that might infect you without any sort of evidence for a disease, that let me repeat, in many states has been less lethal than seasonal flu.

Civic duty does not play into that in any way. Civic duty/responsibility is something that is voluntary such as voting.

What you are talking about is fascism at the very heart of its definition. Fascism is characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, and strong regimentation of society and of the economy. Which is exactly what you and several others here on TB2K have been calling for. Frankly I find it disgusting and two-faced. I doubt seriously you would tolerate your rights being stolen without making some noise. Yet you expect others to shut up and take it and then dress it up pretty to make yourself feel better. When do you send out the jack booted thugs to enforce your new law of the land?

People in this country expecting Constitutional measures does not make us spoiled or decadent. Propagandizing otherwise is not to go unchallenged, and calling people pussies about it is beneath you. Or it should be.

Some people are advocating communist controls due to this virus. Even you saw what was wrong with the lady being driven out of the supermarket for not wearing a mask, and said so. They were the Bolshies, she the Menshevik, or the Brownshirts against the Jew. Some of the commentary of late on this forum is approaching that level of shaming for not doing what some think should be done.

There is a high level of fear by a vocal few and it is leading to discussions that are becoming disturbingly fascistic. As I recently said, the twisting of other posters' words and intentions along those lines is causing me much more concern at this point.

Whatever this virus started out as, it has morphed from a possible major health threat into a dial that TPTB turns to ratchet us up or down. And it's setting us at each other's throats.
I wish I could give higher praise for this post. It is cogent, to the point, and very much true. We here on TB2K are a microcosm and quite frankly it is disturbing to see people who in the past I would have point blank never considered would say some of the things they've been saying with the intent behind them. It is like they don't even realize what fascists they are becoming. As soon as someone says anything that is in opposition to the belief system they are now invested in they go from Jekyll to Hyde and join the government bots. It's the frelling Patriot Act all over again and we see how well that has turned out.

One of the many dots that is evident with this (and I have been looking for them for years now...based on the deep state agenda that is very apparent and has been exposed here and there by many, many people and is very obvious) is the fact that a couple or few credible sources have revealed that the gov is paying hospitals thousands of dollars for each death certificate that they list as "covid-19" as the cause of death.

Corruption and fear-mongering anyone???

Kathy, when did I ever say there should be legal consequences? I never said that. Don't wear a mask then. Be selfish and make bad decisions. Your choice. But jack booted thugs Kathy?? Now who's being paranoid? You are so far out there, can you even see the bell curve or does it just look like a line from where you're standing?

Masks and social distancing reminds me of Pavlov's dogs. Are we being led to voluntarily jump off the cliff? Think about it, especially since it's always been the rule that the sick be quarantined, never the healthy.

When has that not ever been a question? You're going to be surrounded by people for your entire life that carry a contagion of some sort. Unless you sequester yourself hermetically within a pre-sanitized space, by yourself, and never leave.

Because you are actually trying to avoid sick people, what you are really asking is "who is not sick"... Proving a negative is impossible.

I am diabetic type II and i have a mild form of leukemia(CLL) but I will not live in fear, I wear a mask, have been working since this unconstitutional house arrest was forced on us. Nobody here at work is sick or has been sick from anything during this incarceration and since the mask will not really protect me I cannot worry but pray everyday that GOD will protect me and others and I live my life. That is how I handle it. Everybody has their own way.

People that don’t choose to wear a mask are not demanding that people who do stop doing so. We are not demanding you leave your homes if that is your choice to quarantine on your personal property. We are not telling you that to shop or go into certain stores you must take off the mask and gloves. We are not telling you that you must do anything. We are saying that it is a personal choice. THAT is the difference.

Does the hospital have a choice? Their normal source of income has been cut off. The hospital in my home village, in a county with one (1) Plague case has not had a patient since March. I don't even know if it is open anymore.

The system was set up to support the hospitals given their normal source of income is cut off. The side effect is that it incentives stretching the truth.

For whom? Because frankly I have not added any extra precautions beyond normal and while I have tested twice neither time have I popped positive.

I am a “test subject” for a former colleague’s research project. Take it for what it is worth. I am not privy to all the stats but by law they must tell me if I register positive otherwise it is blind to the participants.

The reason why is that my son works in an acute care facility and I fit one of the niches they wanted stats for ... family members of healthcare workers.

And this is why I've been spending my time off gardening, fishing, mushroom hunting, boating, and camping with my family.

I honestly don't think I've seen any new or relevant to me, information on the main COVID thread in a month, just endless rehashing of info we've been discussing on here since March. I hope I haven't missed anything earth shaking, but it seems like the same info spun one way or the other to back some politician's agenda.

If CWII breaks out I assume I'll hear the shooting, and If I get CV I'll either recover or die. At least I won't have spent my last days arguing over 2+ month old information.

I hear ya. Rinse and repeat of the same old info, and all the arguing over wearing masks, or not wearing masks. How many times and ways can that be discussed? It's become an obsession with some.

My bottom line has always been that each and everyone has to decide what's best for themselves and their family. Once that decision has been made, stick to it. It doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks about it.

At single use, worn properly. That's the problem. People aren't using them the way they are designed to be used per lab specs and tests.

That isn’t only the problem but a big one that has attributed to many of the medicos getting sick. An N95 isn’t the best in a clinical setting for a pathogen handled in BSL-4 settings. Ideally they would use a new one for every patient they dealt with and constant use of the same mask day after day degrades the capabilities of the respirator. In addition as you know it has to be properly fitted and leak checked.

The information on how to fit and check them is readily available if someone is so motivated and hopefully with production of PPE of all sorts ramping up if/when we get a second wave and/or if it mutates to a more virulent or even deadlier form people including health care providers will be better able to protect themselves.

Bottom line is people have the right as adults to throw off all caution and do as they will and government will keep on making rules and issuing edicts as it’s the only thing they know.

All we as individuals know is our own backgrounds and life experiences to assist us along the way and some of us are blessed with that ’still small voice’ inside. This pathogen, having all the markers of being an engineered virus is still a pretty unknown as to longer term consequences for those infected and it’s yet to be seen what happens if those with the even mild cases are reinfected.

You can’t prevent infection but you might be able to mitigate thru robust immune system support and doing what you can to make sure that if you are exposed you receive a smaller inoculum to give your system space to fight it off.

My .mil training in NBC tells me to be very cautious and circumspect. Others are going to do what they are going to do and in the end as adults the consequences or benefits of our decisions probably do not only affect us as individuals but also those around us. Hopefully this will all just blow over in time but the damage has already been done in more ways than one.

And the CDC and WHO refuse to support the use of Hydroxachloraquine. All their money and efforts are to create vaccinations. Mind you they will try to make them mandatory to all people with passports to verify and allow one to be out in public. This is not about saving lives, its about making billions of dollars.

My comment that American's are spoiled is being totally misinterpreted. We ARE spoiled in that we've managed to defeat, suppress and eliminate a lot of diseases, health and safety issues that other people around the world have to deal with on a daily business. We don't (normally) have to worry about the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, etc., etc., etc. We EXPECT our world to be relatively safe. We actually have agencies that are trying to keep things safe and healthy for us. Not so in a lot of foreign countries. It's an anomaly here when garbage like Flint, Michigan pops up, when Ecoli shows up on lettuce, when toxic waste is discovered. and other such nasty stuff. Although it does seem to be happening more and more often....and we certainly could be doing even better.

Travel though some third world countries and you'll wonder how those folks are not dying by the truck loads. I've actually been to a Chinese "Wet Market"...OMG talk about nasty, filthy, fly filled, disease ridden place. Do you know why the Chinese buy their food LIVE? Because that's the only way they know their meat if fresh and isn't rotting and totally diseased, and even then I would question the quality and safety. How about all those Asian babies dying from their baby formula because some Chinese manufacturer substituted something of a "SIMILAR NAME" for one of the main ingredients and killed thousands of infants? Or the dog food debacle just a couple of years back. Same thing....something toxic substituted so they could make more money.

There is no way I'd knowingly consume ANYTHING manufactured, processed, touched or handled by China, and this is not anything new to me. I haven't trusted anything coming out of that country for a long long time.

I grew up in an era where you had to worry about catching Polio and TB. Cancer wasn't even talked about. It was whispered as the "C" word. Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chicken Pox, Whooping Cough/Pertussis were normal "childhood diseases. Yep....we kind of are spoiled when you really think about it.

Lets take a look at those comorbidities.
17% of population 65 or older
11% of population has diabetes. 30% of population has prediabetes
50% of population has high blood pressure
8% of population has asthma
16 million in US have COPD
48% of US adults have some heart disease (ranges from mild to serious)
Males have a higher death rate than females

Sorry but the US as well as most developed countries suck as far as being healthy and in good shape.
Anything that compromises the respiratory or circulatory systems greatly increases your chance of serious complications from Covid 19.
Then, once in a while, you can be healthy as hell and either due to virus load, or the manner in which the viral infection develops, you could be toast.

Anyway all this disdain for wearing masks is comical in a board that started out as a prepping board. It has also been turned into a political issue which should have never happened.
Anyway, wear a mask if you want, don't if you don't want, but don't come close to me if I'm out in public and you don't have a mask on.

By the way, here in Florida we never really had a "stay in your home" lockdown. Some stores and businesses and gov offices were closed, but the grocery stores and home depot and most restaurants (takeout) , and Walmart, were open and you could get in your car and go anywhere you wanted. This Memorial Day weekend the wife and I went to the local National Cemetery. There were no celebrations, but we did put some flowers on the grave of a person we knew.

Now pretty much all the stores and restaurants are open so I don't really understand what all the bitching is about, at least in Florida.
If your state has different rules, you should fix it in the elections in a couple of months.

The closest hospital to us is 65 miles, town of about 9000. They just furloughed half the staff, 5 covid cases in the county, only 2 from the area the others from out of state. The next closest hospital 90 miles away just closed. The problem no patients. At this time the next hospital is 130 miles away and they are talking lay offs, again no patients.

Cancer wasn't even talked about. It was whispered as the "C" word.

Up to the 1950's or so, the patient diagnosed with cancer was not told lest he do something precipitate. And there was reason. Neighbor of my Grandfather's, knew him well, attended his chivaree back when, went off to the doctor to discuss ominous symptoms. Was next seen going by the farm site at a very high rate of speed to a T intersection. He crossed the T to a concrete pillar. No seat belt, dead instantly.

Family goes up his back trail. Doc had told him he had lung cancer.

They started telling when a cure rate started to perk up.

Seems we have a disconnect, Searcher.

I am not talking about people protesting the lockdowns when I say Americans are spoiled and decadent. It is a general, overall, observation of the current college aged generation that demands instant gratification and cannot deal with minor ( and what Americans have gone through so far are minor ) inconveniences. Those who cannot face what has happened so far without drugging themselves up. Those who have lost jobs but can still, somehow, afford a psychiatrist and medications to mask the pothole in their easy street.

Psychiatrists Wrote 86% More Prescriptions For Psychotropic Drugs During Lockdown Months
Mental health toll of social isolation set to be substantial

Those are who I call pansies, pussies, and weaklings. Seriously, the "mental health toll of social isolation"? In the age of social media??? And, for a whole 60 days?!?! The horror!

No one is "isolated" and if they think they are, they do not know the definition of the word. Just as there is no "rationing" ( sorry, but that is a fact ) when you can cross the street and get the product you are looking for from a competitor.

Lockdowns caused the collapse of the economy. That is a fact and it is what we will be dealing with next. How are these people who cannot function in the face of a nuisance going to react when true adversity kicks in their door?

And, you did not disparage me. Others have.

My .mil training in NBC tells me to be very cautious and circumspect. Others are going to do what they are going to do and in the end as adults the consequences or benefits of our decisions probably do not only affect us as individuals but also those around us. It is so hard for so many to see past "ME!!!", though...

...it's setting us at each other's throats.
It is and I don't like it.

I hope you can see a little better what angle I am coming at this from. I think it best if I bow out of this discussion, though.

Yep, they opened up the barn door this weekend and all the knuckleheads and animals were out and about running around like chickens with their heads cut off. It was absolute pandemonium up here on our mountain. Ran into our little village market yesterday and all the Flatlanders were running around WITHOUT masks, no social distancing, nothing; adults, teenagers, and kids. Folks were acting like no pandemic had ever existed at all. Talk about throwing caution to the wind. Things are blowing up here in Texas and we are back to curbside shopping and staying home, only venturing out when needed (having eye surgery today). As far as reports that most deaths were people who already had a disease or condition, how many people don’t? High blood pressure, Diabetes, obesity, allergies, stomach problems, skin problems, etc, etc. I Choose to take steps such as staying at home, masking and sanitizing. I just retired a year ago and want to live long enough to enjoy what I worked so hard for.

I get damn tired of saying this but here it comes again.

This tenth rate virus has to do with THE ECONOMY and POLITICS and not health. It is a scaredemic, not a pandemic. It is a cover for the inevitable collapse of an economic system that has wrecked the currency and the overall economy for six decades, and wants us to go globalist/socialist/communist. The virus is a SCARE TACTIC and it is working to destroy what is left of the ZUSA, which was already a dead country walking.

Sounds good, except of course, for the Italian problem. No way were they into social distance, they were right up front with hugs and kisses, an Italian custom.

And they died like flies (Metaphor there). Of course, close connecting would have allowed the building of herd immunity. Much good though if all the candidates it was supposed to protect (old and/or infirm) are dead.
The majority of the Italians that died due to the virus were 65+ years of age! So pre-existing conditions for a lot of those folks.

true....

my daughter is positive and in isolation in Athens GA....asymptomatic thanks God but she is indeed positive.

Hubby and I had to go get nose rape kit tested (sorry that's what it feels like to get swabbed up to your eyeballs) and we are negative.

my daughter found out that her friend was direct contact positive and had been around that friend for a weekend. She decided to self isolate and that's what she is doing. I take her stuff and get to see her but haven't touched my child in 2.5 weeks. THAT IS HARD, but she is alive, i will love her up extra when I can!!! she is self isolating outside of our home because her Grandmother and Auntie (and me to some extent) have several severe health problems (COPD, heart attack, diabetes, etc) so she is doing what she thinks is right.

AND thanks to the new CoV app, all my neighbors know my damn business.....

thanks CHINA....
