TOKYO (Reuters) - U.S. stock futures slipped while U.S. Treasuries, gold and the safe-haven yen rose in early Asian trading on Wednesday after tensions on the Korean peninsula escalated with Pyongyang's warning that it is "carefully examining" plans for a missile strike on the U.S. Pacific territory of Guam.

Just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump told North Korea that any threat to the United States would be met with "fire and fury," a spokesman for the Korean People's Army said in a statement carried by the North's state-run KCNA news agency that it was considering a strike aimed at U.S. military bases on Guam.

S&P 500 e-mini futures ESc1 were down 0.2 percent, while the dollar dipped 0.2 percent against its perceived safe-haven Japanese counterpart to 110.11 yen JPY=.
The euro slid 0.2 percent to 129.47 yen EURJPY=, and gained 0.1 percent against the dollar to $1.1761 EUR=.

The dollar index, which tracks the greenback against a basket of six major rivals, edged down 0.1 percent to 93.545 .DXY, edging closer to last week's 15-month low of 92.548.

The yield on the benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury note US10YT=RR fell to 2.261 percent from its U.S. close of 2.282 percent on Tuesday.

Spot gold XAU= added 0.1 percent to $1,261.71 an ounce, pulling away from the previous session's two-week lows. [GOL/]

U.S. stocks closed lower on Tuesday after a late afternoon selling spree as investors fled for safety after Trump's vow to respond aggressively to any North Korean threats. [.N]

Japan said on Tuesday it was possible that North Korea had already developed nuclear warheads and warned of an acute threat posed by its weapons programmes as Pyongyang's continues missile and nuclear tests in defiance of U.N. sanctions.

Asian shares were slightly higher on Wednesday, with MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan .MIAPJ0000PUS up 0.1 percent in early trading.

Crude oil prices extended their slide from Tuesday as exports from key OPEC producers rose and despite news of lower crude shipments from Saudi Arabia. U.S. crude CLc1 shed 10 cents to $49.07 a barrel.

The reporter was in a bunker for a few minutes doing the report. No. They are not 20 stories under ground awaiting a blast. It was just a story that they did touring a bunker.

Correction- They were in the State of Hawaii's emergency operations center, which is an under ground bunker. They discussed how much time people would have to take cover after NK launched. They also discussed what steps the state has been taking to protect its people from a NK attack. I posted a link to one of the videos above.

Did the tweet make it sound worse than it was yes. However they weren't reporting from someone's back yard bunker either.

My DD and I were driving into Rapid City last Thursday afternoon and saw B1s taking off from Ellsworth - at least three as we passed south of the base on I-90. They circled to the north and west and disappeared in the horizon.

Isn't that under Diamond Head and was a WW2 bunker designed for the arms used at the time. It is also used for tsunami warnings as we were there during one and they were broadcasting from the command center. Also National Guard are there I think.

TESTING OF NEW SIREN ON OAHU – AUGUST 10, 2017

HONOLULU — The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (Hawaii-EMA), together with the City and County of Honolulu Department of Emergency Management will conduct siren testing at the following location and time.

Thursday, August 10, 2017 (9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.)

· Ho’opili Development near Kualakai Parkway, East Kapolei/Ewa Beach

The new Ho’opili Development siren is part of of an effort to improve Statewide outdoor warning coverage. New developers are required to establish outdoor warning siren coverage for public safety with no present coverage. This is a requirement set forth by the Land Use Commission.

Residents nearby may hear the siren sound six to eight times for 30-second to one-minute intervals during the identified timeframe. Testing will include short blasts known as “burps.” During the tests, emergency management officials and technicians will check that installation work on this siren has been completed properly.

Questions regarding this test should be directed to the City and County of Honolulu Department of Emergency Management at (808) 723-8960.

Yes you are correct. It's about 1,000 feet underground from the bunker operations center room.
