Biden: "An Invasion" by #Russia means "ANY" Russian Units Crossing #Ukraine Border for overt OR covert acts "If any assembled Russian units move across the Ukrainian border, that is an invasion. Let there be no doubt if Putin makes this choice, Russia will pay a heavy price.”

Will he be announcing to enthralled masses that "peace and safety" are the top priority. He has a god complex. . .

ETA...after reading more above: Macron does too, could he be the anti-christ? He and Erdogan both have that look about them, but of course, they aren't the only ones.
Iirc, Ragnarok had come to the conclusion that Erdogan was a prime candidate for AC...

Have followed this since the beginning of the thread. Question: What is the common consensus of what happens next after invasion which in my book will happen. I guess it depends on why you think Russia is invading?

Blinken Attempts Damage Control After Biden's Ukraine Comment
Spencer Brown

Secretary of State Antony Blinken jumped in on the White House's damage control effort Thursday morning after Biden suggested in his Wednesday press conference that the United States might tolerate a "minor incursion" of Ukraine by Russian troops. It was a horrible choice of words that sent a dangerous message to Russia. And as with anything the president says, it also sent a message to other foes such as China which would likely enjoy the same permission for an unpunished minor incursion into Taiwan.

So Blinken decided to address the situation in a speech in Berlin, Germany, in an attempt to reinforce the United State's already weakened position. Calling the situation a "moment of great urgency," Biden's Secretary of State said the administration still believes "we can resolve things peacefully and diplomatically" and has "repeatedly reached out to Russia with offers of diplomacy."
Among the issues on which the United States has engaged with Russia seeking goodwill and common ground, according to Blinken, are "common action to address the climate crisis" and the Biden administration's quixotic campaign to revive the disastrous Iran Nuclear Deal. So, good news Ukrainians — Joe Biden is coming to your rescue by asking Putin to go green and help enable the world's worst state-sponsor of terror develop nuclear capabilities.

These offers, Blinked said, were "rebuffed" by Putin. Likely because as a totalitarian bully, Putin doesn't much care about playing nice with the Biden administration or what else happens as long as he hangs on to power. And why should Putin? Biden already green-lit the NordStream2 pipeline project — giving Putin more power in the region and literally the opposite of the climate action Biden has forced on Americans.
Confusingly, Blinken said that despite Russia's actions — including the amassing of troops, weapons, and military vehicles on its border with Ukraine — "this crisis is not primarily about weapons or military bases." Huh? Blinken made the situation out to be some sort of philosophical movement undertaken by Russia to reject the peace and freedom of post-Cold War Europe. Of course, that's the effect of Putin's bullying of European neighbors — but he's acting as a power-hungry dictator and not some intellectual.

So far, Blinken's diplomacy in the region on behalf of the Biden administration hasn't dissuaded Putin's troops. Russia continues to threaten Ukraine from its doorstep while engaging in espionage, cyber offensives, and other attempts to undermine Ukrainian sovereignty. Nevertheless, Blinken persists and is set for more meetings in Europe in the days ahead as he attempts to look busy while so far not having any foreign policy wins for Biden back home in Washington.
As Vespa reported earlier Thursday, Jen Psaki already tried her hand at fixing Biden's statement about allowing Putin to invade Ukraine just a little bit. That clean up on aisle Psaki didn't go well.

Spain sends warships to Black Sea, considers sending warplanes

MADRID, Jan 20 (Reuters) - Spain has sent warships to join NATO naval forces in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea as tension in the region rises over the Russian military build-up on the Ukrainian border, Defence Minister Margarita Robles said on Thursday.

A mine-sweeper is already en route and a frigate will sail within three or four days, Robles told reporters. The Madrid government is also considering sending fighter jets to Bulgaria, she said.

"Russia cannot tell any country what to do, so NATO will protect and defend the sovereignty of any country that can or wants to join NATO," she said.

Spain's preference was for an "exclusively diplomatic response" to resolving the conflict, she added.

The Spanish contribution to the NATO military deployment in eastern Europe comes after Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed a coordinated response to the threat to Ukraine from Russia at a meeting in Washington on Tuesday.

Russia has massed tens of thousands of troops on its borders with Ukraine and Western states fear Moscow is planning a new assault on a country it invaded in 2014.

The Kremlin denies it is planning an attack but says it could take unspecified military action if a list of demands are not met, including a promise from NATO never to admit Ukraine as a member.

Western officials, diplomats and former officials told Reuters this week that NATO - created in 1949 to deter the Soviet threat - was obliged to consider reinforcements that go against Putin's demand that the alliance must not expand further eastwards.

Denmark said it was sending a frigate to the Baltic Sea this week and French President Emmanuel Macron has offered to send troops to Romania. Further troop decisions could be made as early as a NATO summit in Madrid in June, diplomats and officials said.

Are you sure about that?
I do not want war. I have done my best to prep with what little I have. I am just wondering why the wait? He is allowing a ton of help and plans to be laid. Why? The only answer I see is waiting for china.

Why does any country wait? We're not privy to why, though I hope you're right and it's a big diplomatic squeeze play. But yeah, they may be waiting for China. Maybe they hate Biden so bad that they were hoping for the chaos of yesterday's press conference and a subsequent move to remove him. Who knows? Not us. Not yet.

If Russia moves quickly, and takes all of the Ukraine, I dont see us being able to militarily do anything besides support a guerilla war with a govt in exile. By the time we would be able to get enough troops into Europe the Russians would have solid defensive positions and we would take a beating getting them out.

If the Ukrainians can hold say at the river I see a split country with Russia holding all the coast and interior to the river. What is left becomes allied with the West and gets built up as a bastion against further Russian invasion.

The wild card is if US/Brit air power provides support to the Ukraine and Putin strikes bases inside NATO. Then it is on.

Take this from a guy with no tactical experience except Risk and Axis and Allies obsessively search the net for info on the coming war and trying to piece it together.

Who knows. Waiting for China? Hoping the West caves? Maybe he has doubt about his military. If he were to be defeated that would be a massive blow to his and Russias pride. A million reasons.

Oreally

Right from the start
just a little levity here, and a marker as to what putin may or may not do.

remember when, was it jimmy johnson of the dallas cowboys ?, was in moscow sometime around 2006-2008 ?

he was at a banquet with putin. putin asked him if he could try on johnson's superbowl ring. so he gave it to him, and putin 'tried' it on wore it throughout the banquet.

when the event was over, johnson looked over to vald, expecting to get his ring back, but putin just walked away, with his security guys trailing, and never gave it back. ever.

Hmm. Hadn't gone that far down the rabbit hole yet, but world wide destruction/decimation of our food production is certainly the stuff o' a globalists' dreams : (

THREAD: War in Ukraine & global food price instability As I have mentioned a few times in the past, global food prices are at near-historic highs, already threatening global political stability. A war in Ukraine could make this situation *much* worse. (1/8)
View: https://twitter.com/MJ_Cruickshank/status/1484226439683756035?s=20

Firstly, despite a small dip in Dec 2021, the UN @FAO's
Food Price Index is still at alarmingly high levels. The primary causes are stated as the: "high cost of inputs, the ongoing global pandemic and ever more uncertain climatic conditions" (2/8)
View: https://twitter.com/MJ_Cruickshank/status/1484226443810938881?s=20

High global food prices have been historically linked to waves of unrest (see graph), through the interplay of food riots and pre-existing social tensions. In 2021 food-related unrest was experienced in S. Africa, Colombia, Nigeria, Sudan, Brazil & many other countries. (3/8)
View: https://twitter.com/MJ_Cruickshank/status/1484226448567287813?s=20

While many countries grow more food than Ukraine, it is one of the top exporters of grain, & thus has a bigger impact on global markets. Alongside Russia & Kazakhstan, research has shown that crop failures in Ukraine can trigger market shocks (5/8)
View: https://twitter.com/MJ_Cruickshank/status/1484226459078119424?s=20

Now let's look at a so-called 'Soil Bonitet' map of Ukraine, that gives an indication of the areas of greatest agricultural productivity. Here we can see that some of the most productive areas are to the west of the Dnieper River, & at high risk of becoming conflict zones.
View: https://twitter.com/MJ_Cruickshank/status/1484226462437752832?s=20

If conflict (or an insurgency) is ongoing in these areas by the beginning of the growing season in April, this will massively impact exports and drive global prices higher. Even if conflict has ended, the destruction of infrastructure will undoubtably reduce yields.

Taking the above into consideration, the world should be prepared for significant second order effects from a coming war, and take action to stabilise global food prices. Should this not be done, even greater instability is likely throughout the developing world.
