Stopped in our local Kroger, and there was hardly any soda. No Sprite and two 24 packs of Coke, A few two liters, but not much else.
Still had a lot of grills which I was surprised about since they had none at the beginning of summer.
That does seem to be the case for several brands. Metal taste. There appears to be a shortage of bottled beer (seems to be mostly Budweiser) here in Denver. Every liquor store we go to has reported being shorted by as much as 60% on their orders. Neither my brother or I can drink canned beer - all we can taste is metallic yuk.
Was in the small one by my house 2 weeks ago and the Bud rep was there - he said he doesn't understand it either.
There was a report floating around that aluminum cans were in short supply, thus shortage of canned beer causing impact on bottle beer. How was the canned beer supply? That does seem to be the case for several brands. Metal taste.
I get bottles, so I have no idea....There was a report floating around that aluminum cans were in short supply, thus shortage of canned beer causing impact on bottle beer. How was the canned beer supply?
I remember that in Nebr. when I was a kid. There was a foot of hail that flattened everything.Crops in US devastated by storms. Another hit, millions of acres of corn flattened.

Mayo is the single most disgusting thing ever invented by mankind.
Well, to each their own, Dennis. My son won't eat mayo either and hasn't since he was 5 years old. I think he got a bad sandwich at daycare. LOL

Dukes is a close second, a little spicier.

Our local Costco has no TP. Meijer cleaning supply shelves are empty but had TP.
sorry if this is a bit off topic. Had to vent.....going home to visit family and had offered to help my sister prep. Told her the basics should be done first, rice in buckets with Mylar bags. What's Mylar? Like balloon? Then she said, I have rice in the pantry. I have many other examples of the just don't get it....but i am now asking myself is it really worth the headache, when u have to drag someone to a place, then knowing they will the minute u leave, start to use the stash u had helped them build. Thanx, man...what a freaking mess.
Coca Cola from Mexico is made with real sugar and comes in a glass bottle. The imported cokes here are very popular. If I remember correctly the Mexican cokes are actually cheaper than the US cokes.A lot of the stuff missing is due to the shortage of packaging materials... aluminum and plastic to be specific. Though a friend told me that coca cola has signed a deal with an outfit in Mexico that still bottles the product in glass bottles... how soon we'll see this on the shelves here I do not know... they will bottle it here in the states once they get the glass bottles in house.
you know what might help? type up some simple basic info on what to prep, how much and how to store and on the bottom of the list add some books like holly deyos dare to prepare, etc. when you talk to someone about prepping and they seem halfway interested--hand them a print out. they can ask questions or not, get in touch with you later or not, its all up to them. but you did your very best to provide info and steer them in the right direction. you give them correct simple info and also are planting a seed in their minds. the rest is up to them. dont forget to drop the idea that in no way can you afford to prep for your family and theirs, they are responsible .
As far as shortages,.. not groceries, but we were just in a Tractor Supply. Fortunately, they were well stocked on the dairy cleansers we needed, but wow! The whole store looked like a failed attempt to make it look like their stock trucks are still arriving on time! One entire aisle was taken up by deer carts... fully assembled and lined up side by side to take up maximum room... about 15 feet from the registers, too, so as little as I know about retail, that's gotta be prime real estate. Other front areas had single layers of bulky boxed barbeques (normally, they're outside) and other obvious attempts to fill space.
Hubby was able to get 24 fiberglass fenceposts, but only left about 6 for the next guy. The "trash and treasures" shelves at the front of the store, normally piled high with everything from cheapish (usable... maybe one step up from Harbor Freight) Chinese tool to dog toys to stuffed animals were nearly empty.
Ditto the usual spots next to the registers.
I'm more and more convinced Christmas shopping is going to be a *real* shock for most folks this year. I bought stocking stuffers back in February for the grandkids, thinking even then that the decent stocks of stuff like puzzles, little crystal growing kits, coloring books, paints, etc were likely going to disappear by Thanksgiving. It's looking like I was right...

Made my weekly shopping trip yesterday. I rotate between aldi, Kroger , and WM Super Center. Went to Wally's and was shocked to find some Lysol wipes for the first time in months. They're so nice to have when the 4 year old pees all over the toilet... boys, lol.

Gotta say...if anybody is half-way interested, I wouldn't start them out on Mylar and 5 gallon buckets of rice. If you can get them to keep some dry pasta, beans, peas and rice (stored well...say in big glass jars), a dozen cans/jars of spaghetti/pasta sauce, shelf-stable meals like Knorr Sides and canned vegertables, some store-canned meat, a few jars of peanut butter, oatmeal packets, instant coffee and good canned soup its a MAJOR victory. Stuff they can vaguely imagine eating and will eat.
