Back in my own home after spending much of the last two weeks out of town.
Decided to get a little top off and fresh grocery shopping done.
Produce was 30-40% bare. Really wanted a big bag of broccoli crowns to bake with olive oil and salt/pepper. Got the last two of four small bags. Two for $5. At least they were on special. No other fresh broccoli in store other than a half dozen bags of broccoli/cauliflower crowns mix.
Blueberries were also on two for $5 special. Bought two but almost hesitated because they were bigger and fatter than I like.
Deli counter, wanted some salami as I was gifted a couple blocks of cheese. $7.50 per pound of some brand I've never seen before. Haven't done much deli shopping in last 18+ months. The case was low. Maybe 1/3 of what it's been in years past. Not a lot of selections. Deli manager looked frazzled, desperate for help.
Meat section, was low, especially beef. Grabbed a pound of Angus ground beef 81/19 for $5.87. Also a pound of ground turkey, that was the best deal $2.99. Guess I'm going to make ground turkey and carrot soup in the instapot; because I've got a lot of carrots that'll be spoiled soon.
Milk, whole White milk, was cleaned out, got the one of the dozen or so left. Store brand. Name brand out of stock other than expensive organic milk.
Cottage cheese was plentiful!
Decided I wanted hot dogs this week. Hot dog buns became expensive, debated buying another loaf of bread instead, which I know makes fine hot dogs and hamburgers. But I just want hot dogs, onions, and mustard in a bun.
Looked at paper plates, bowls, cups, etc. Very low, maybe 25% stocked. Paper towels and TP were fine.
Grabbed a few cans of sardines and mackerel wanted to try some new flavors. Both about $1 more per can than ordering on line.
Store now has sign offering a $2 per hour premium for new hires. Job fair this week for two days.
